Liverpool fan and award-winning comedian John Bishop has signed up to take part in this year's Kip on the Kop event at Anfield to help raise awareness and funds for homelessness across the Liverpool City Region. The event will take place on Saturday October 12 and the funds raised will go towards supporting LFC Foundation’s Global Works programme, as well as Liverpool Homeless FC. Members of the local community were recently joined by LFCW ambassador Natasha Dowie and former LFC women’s player Becky Easton to talk about the benefits of walking football. The sessions take place weekly in Kirkby and are supported by official LFC partner Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and delivered by LFC Foundation’s Red Neighbours team. This is LFC Foundation’s first ever women’s walking football team and aims to tackle social isolation and get people more physically active and help to build friendships. Natasha Dowie and Becky Easton attended an important commemorative blue plaque unveiling on Tuesday in St Helens. The new blue plaque recognises St Helens Ladies FC, who were honoured by St Helens Borough Council at the site where they played 100 years ago. Unveiled outside Queens Park Leisure Centre, the blue plaque is to commemorate the team as part of an initiative by St Helens Borough Council to honour and acknowledge the individuals, places and events that have contributed to the unique heritage of the borough. The blue plaque acknowledges the St Helens Ladies’ squad from 1919 to 1923 and celebrates “the women of this pioneering football team played on during the Football Association’s 1921 ban”. St Helens Ladies AFC famously beat the Dick, Kerr Ladies team, who at the time helped to break down barriers in sport for women. Read more here https://lnkd.in/eMBgB7Ei

New LFC 2024-25 third kit unveiled in celebration of the women's game Released as part of the Nike 'Together We Rise' collection across the brand's club football estate, the third kit celebrates the women's game and its acceleration in world sport. It is uniquely represented through a distinct vertical double Swoosh, which is across the jersey, shorts and matching socks. The campaign video and creative imagery depicts 'generations of power', featuring protagonists from the men's and women's games, as well as former Liverpool FC Women players and a junior female grassroots footballer.
