A South Dakota Timber Frame Great Room

The central stone firepit serves as the home’s hub. Eight, modified hammerbeam trusses were designed around the size of the handmade, oxidized metal flue, which seems to hover over the fire. Support beams are in the wall leaving the octagonal room completely open. Photography by James Ray Spahn.
