a wooden bench with the words diy balance beam on it's back side

A good friend of mine approached me about making a balance beam. Seemed easy enough. Glue up some 2×4’s and attach some legs and boom! Balance beam! But as I got into it I began to realize there was going to be a kid jumping up and down on this thing repeatedly, so I wanted it to be sturdy and safe. So this is how I did it.

a large piece of cardboard sitting on top of a blue mat covered in multicolored material

I found directions for this balance beam on the my little me link http://www.mylittleme.com/diy-balance-beam-30-less/. It cost me about $75.00 in material for the beam alone, and had to make some adjustments. I went to the fabric store and used the opposite side of the vinyl for the fabric. The foam padding I found in the plumbing department, I just described it and they found it for me. I think you should be able to adjust the legs if you want to raise it.
