Pods a Plenty

Old hippie pants never die.
These pants were just hideous, but they were comfy and soft and I love the colors and designs of the patches. I got tired of patching the patches though, so I bought a new pair and I'm turning these into something else.
They could be berries or buds.
Maybe I will glue them into a wooden frame to hang on the wall.
How about some type of textile jewelry?
I think there's enough fabric to do multiple projects, so for now I'll just keep making pods.
Thanks for having a look.

Random Salvage Folks

Today was such a hot and humid day.
Too miserable to do anything outside although I did try to do a bit of gardening this morning.
The air conditioners just couldn't keep up with the heat and humidity.
Even the air in my car seemed to take forever to get cool today.
It was a good day to take it easy and play for a while.
I scanned the drawers of reclaimed fabric in my sewing room, dug through a jar of old buttons and sat down at my sewing machine.
Little Fairy Flo has wings made from part of a bride's vintage head piece.
Her hair is locks of wool and her outfit is made up of scraps of vintage fabric and lace.
Gretta the Grouch is a friend of Flo's.
She's having a bad hair day and doesn't appreciate Flo flying overhead and pointing out the spot of vegetable matter that's stuck in there.

Creating a doll always feels a little like magic to me.
They each seem to have their own personality and no two are ever alike.
Almost real, but not.

Ruffled Feathers

Inspired by the little blue birds who are nesting outside my kitchen window.
Instead of working on my house, I'm playing.
Made of random bits and pieces of vintage lace and fabric, then stained with diluted acrylic paint.
I suppose I made them because they make me happy.

Royal Birds

Hi all!
This is the 2nd project for this weekend using antique grain sacks.
The first was my experiment with a jewelry dress form, as seen in my last post.
I also made these birds from a grain sack.

The crowns and beaks I made from polymer clay.

I've been working on a few other projects as well using reclaimed fabric.

I'll be posting those at a later time.

Thanks for stopping by!
See ya soon.
