Trinity Knot: Adventurer's Journals

Let's get the obvious out of the way; I'm a sucker for cool gaming related stuff. So when I found out that Trinity Knot were running a Kickstarter for 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons Adventurer Journals I was pretty intrigued.

Character records are very much something of personal taste; over the years I've used hand written notes on A4 sheets and school exercise books, photocopied character sheets from rule books, and even bought packs of character sheets for various systems. I've still got a 1st edition character record hiding somewhere in the recesses of the Vault.

In this more modern age of gaming we've got electronic character records; excel spreadsheets which track various characteristics for us, and sharable "sheets" on D&D Beyond. Whilst the majority of the D&D I play these days is online, I don't like electronic records; they are too intangible for me. 

A simple printed out sheet is fine for one shots; but for a long term campaign with a favourite character, then there is a so much to be said for a character journal. And I think the Trinity Know Journals will be perfect for those occasions.

Disclosure: I backed the Kickstarter with actual coin from the Vault. I know Al from Trinity Knot, but I purchased the Journals as a customer.

Battle Systems Terrain Sets

 Welcome back to the Vault! Long term readers will know I am something of a wargaming terrain junkie with a varied collection of pieces ranging from scratch builds to pre-painted resin pieces. I'm always looking at cool table set ups and thinking about how I'd like to replicate them at home.

My holy grail for terrain/set up involves:

• Easy to assemble
• Pre-painted
• Doesn't take much space to store

My eye had been drawn recently to Battle System's pre-printed card stock terrain sets and having expressed an interest I was gifted with a couple of sets for Christmas. One is centred around fantasy gaming and the other Sci Fi.

Father's Day Loot: RBC Spell Tracker

Welcome back to the Vault!  As I've indicated in recent posts I'm participating in several online RPGs to get my gaming fix and that includes a weekly 5th edition D&D campaign.

I'm really enjoying the adventures of Immerel the druid as he and his comrades battle a force of giants and the ogre-ish allies.  5th edition uses a different magic system compared to my more familiar "go to" 3rd edition.  In essence Immerel "prepares" a number of spells from his possible selection each day and can then cast any combination using his spell slots of different levels.

My daughters are obviously aware of my enjoyment of this game as they've given me the perfect present for Father's Day; a spell tracker peg board!

Cool Stuff: Freyja's Wrath

Today we have another post full of pictures of Cool Stuff! Another Kickstarter has delivered it's lovely metal and resin goodness into my grubby mitts. This time it's some models from the Freyja's Wrath Kickstarter run by Bad Squiddo Games.

The Kickstarter models are all themed around Shield Maidens, Norse mythology and Scandinavian creatures. Again I was drawn to a lot of the characterful sculpts and the opportunity to fill some of the gaps in my gaming bestiary.

Cool Stuff: Gnomes!

It's time for a short (pun intended) post! Astute Vault Venturers will have no doubt realised that I'm a sucker for cool miniatures, and anything that I can use in multiple games systems gets my attention.

I've been slowly filling out some gaps of various creature/monster types in my collection and I was particularly taken with the sculpts from Krakon Games Gnomes 2 Kickstarter. The postie has delivered the models (I've had them for a while now) and I'm very pleased with them.

Power Armoured Paint: Carcharodon Astra 3D Printed Shoulder Pads

Welcome back to the Vault Commanders.  This time I've got something very cool to share, as I've taken my first leap into the world of 3D printing! No, I haven't gone completely mad and bought a 3D printer (one day that might change); I've ordered some some Shark icons and shoulder pads from the Pop Goes The Monkey store on Shapeways for my Charcarodons Astra.  They arrived recently and I've already started playing with them.

First up are the Mako Shark icons:

Multiverse Musings: Harps Corp Dice Tray Review

Welcome back to the Vault dear Venturers! This is a brief update to pimp a review article I've written for TSR Games' Multiverse site.

I acquired a lovely hard wood dice tray at MCM Comic Con, courtesy of the talented folks at Harps Corp, and felt the need to tell everyone how impressed I am with it.

Roll more 6s dammit!

Having used it during a few games of 40K, the only disappointment is that it hasn't magically improved either my luck, or tactical acumen.
