This is an early 1900's candy store scale manufactured by the Stimpson Scale Company in Louisville Kentucky. The scale measures 16"L x 19"H x 13"W. The front of the scale displays the weight for the customer. The back computes the weight into the cost. Depending on the price of the item. Able to weigh items up to 3 lbs. this candy scale was patented on November 8, 1909. The metal scoop could easily be lifted off of the scale to scoop candy from its container. This scale does need to be calibrated. The stamp shows that it was approved by Wisconsin Weight and Measures at one time. We do not know much about this item. You are bidding on a Stimpson Computing Scale from the early 1900's. The only date on the scale is a patented plaque marked August 20. 1907 and November 9, 1909. See pictures for plaque) The scale can measure weight up to 10 lbs on the tray and there are two additional 10 lb sliders to make the total capacity of the scale 30 lbs. The scale works but I can not check the calibration on it as I do not have accurate weights to measure. There are 3 leveling screws on the base that can be used to level it and zero out the scale. I have achieved a zero measure on my coffee table. All the glass is in tact and not broken or cracked. The paper scale card is clear and readable inside the glass. There are some marking on the sliders to measure the 10 and 20 lbs. Antique Stimpson Computing Scale: Circa 1900 I included as many pictures with this listing as I possibly could to show the condition of this piece. It was purchased at an estate sale and upon getting it home I realized that I don't even know where all the pieces go. I do not have much information beyond the pictures so I will list what I see. The rust looks to be surface only. There is nothing rusted through or overly pitted. The"computing" part of this is not present. All of the weights look good. But the tare one is missing a screw. The base has a chip missing from it. All moving parts move freely accept for the"feet" on the bottom of the base. They move but need to be loosened up. There are pictures showing these areas. The bracket looking piece is included with this because it came with the rest of the unit and ... moreis painted the same color. I have no idea where it attaches or what it's function is. Please see the pictures for further details. To aid in the shipping of this unit. 3 screws where removed that hold the upright part to the base so that it can lay flat. They were easy to remove so I am thinking it will be easy to put back together. According to research published in Equilibrium. Stimpson Computing Scale"Sliding Weight Arm" This piece came from a scale that was in a highly deteriorated state when I came across it but I thought I could bring it back to life. Come to find out I bit off more than I could chew so now I am offering up the good parts. This piece is in very good condition overall. The iron parts that go through it show considerable rust but they are not eroded to a point that this could not be rectified. The actual"arm. Bracket, etc. is in nice shape. There is a little green here and there that once again looks like it could be easily removed. It is plated with a silver finish that looks to be basically all intact. It is straight and the extensive amount of information on it is legible. The last date on it is November 20th. 1900. The back has some rust on it but that looks to be from the frame of the scale that it came off. Measures: 7 3/8" wide and is 1 3/4" tall at the middle The"bracket" looks very good. Like the other piece it could be cleaned up to look really nice. I don't know if it's a bracket. A handle or just decoration. For auction is a STIMPSON POSTAL SCALE with a 5 lb capacity and a"self computing" fan to figure postage. It has a plaque with 1926 patent dates. So it probably dates from the late 1920s to 1930s. It does work. It shows signs of wear and use. The paint has chips and there is a layer of dirt(see the pictures for condition) The rear, round glass face is missing. The scale is approximately 19" tall and 16" wide. I think this is a good specimen for full restoration and return to its original glory. Please ask any questions before bidding. Up for Auction is a beautiful Stimpson Calculating Scale which appears to be pre 1910. The scale would make a great addition to any deli. General store or antique collection. The scale is over. 100 years old and has a few imperfections. 1st the scale is missing the tray. 2nd the tension has been replaced to make the scale work again. RARE Antique STIMPSON COMPUTING SCALE CO. Hanging Butcher Scales Very Unusual
RARE Antique Hanging Stimpson Computing Scales Very Unusual You are bidding on these RARE Antique Hanging Stimpson Computing Scales. I am not sure if these are Butchers scales or Produce scales. But I am sure that they are very old(probably from the latter part of the 1800's) and very RARE. The scales measure approximately 23" long x 12"across and weigh over 20 lbs. Now for all of the bad news; there is no tray and the scales are currently not working(although they were working last year when I purchased them from a local estate auction in Fort Smith. Arkansas. something has probably just come loose) They have a coating of surface rust on the cylinder body of the scales and at the edge of the bottom end plate are a couple of spots where rust has come all the way through that you can see clearly in the 10th picture. Fresh meat, or even cheese while your wait. Just seeing this brought back memories. As a child the corner store would have a huge round sharp cheese with a cover.and he'd cut off the amount you wanted and weigh it on a scale just like this. This is in awesome condition, only one area where the enamel is worn off. The cord needs to be replaced. But even without the light on.you can still use the scale. Nice nice piece of history, that will become almost impossible to find as the years go by.

Complete with flip chart and brass bowl(much finish loss) Stamp on plate reads: Stimpson Elkhart IND No. 5182 Patent applied for Includes one 4 lb. weight. Per the photos. Weighs 24 Lbs. 16" Long. 19" High. Barrel is 8 1/4" across. There is no pan. One piece of the glass is broken. And there is a missing screw on one end cap. The scale and adjustment are both working. I see no tears or repairs to the paper. No holes in the steel. Excellent Candidate for Restoration! I saw the Stimpson that recently sold for $1527.00. It was a#50 and very similar. However the barrel end caps on this one are cast brass. Actually, everything but the barrel sleeve is cast brass. I have put a reserve on this item to protect my investment. Antique Stimpson Co. Detroit Michigan Scale Rare Countertop Computing Works
This scale is absolutely amazing. Perfect for the collector. Shop, or anyone or place that shares a love of old history through works such as this. The body of the scale was refurbished due to previous owners painting it numerous times. Those were removed and it is now painted a satin black. Because the original scale was painted. The weighing mechanism works great. But it will need to be calibrated if it is to be used for actual weighing. All the removable weights are included as well has the weight hook. All parts are original and included, except for some of the screws and the marble plate. The marble plate has a small crack which was repaired by previous owner. Due to it being over a hundred years old. There are some flaws and imperfections. But isn't that what makes antiques so cool and interesting? We have here Vintage Stimpson Globe No. 1013 3lb Scale. Perfect for a Deli. As it has the weight and price on the vendor side, and shows the customer the weight on the front. The scale works great. Is spot on to our electronic scale. Scale plate comes off for easy cleaning. Nice brushed stainless steel. I cleaned it up. But it still needs some more work! It weighs about 35lbs. Stands 22 1/8" tall. base is 7" wide by 12 1/4" The plate is 8" wide by 9 1/4" deep. Legs are adjustable. No damage to plastic face on either side. A great scale. Stimpson Computing Scale - 1909 - Vintage
Scale is marked at top front Stimpson Computing Scale. Louisville, KY. The words Patented Aug 20, 1907 and Nov 9, 1909 and Serial# 69810 are on a screwed-on metal plate at bottom middle. Scale measures 18 ¾ inches high,16 inches left to right, and 11 inches deep front to back. The removable brass scoop is 14 inches by 10 inches, by 3 ½ inches high. Weighs up to 5 lbs. Brass paint over c ast iron. The brass paint on the front of the scale is in good condition. The brass paint on the scale’s lower back is worn. The larger glass on the back is in good condition but the small glass at the top of the front is gone. There is a screwed-on oval metal plate at the bottom of the front which says New York City and Penna. Approved Type-Serial P-9. Both oval metal plates are in good condition. There’s an oval paper label(complete) on the back ... morewhich says Hobart. Roger Oakley 45 High Park Ave. Stratford, Conn. and has a list that includes Meat Choppers, Potato Peelers, Food Cutters, etc. On the back is a round red paper label from the Weights and Measures Dept. Stamford, Conn. Everything seems to be original and seems to be in working condition. Some parts could use a cleaning- I have not cleaned or polished it beyond dusting it off. I think it looks wonderful as it is for display. Although if you prefer it could be restored. There are no chips. Cracks or dents, except for the wear on the scoop and the missing piece of glass at the top back. Scale is heavy weighing about 35 lbs.
