Agent guide

Use Vibooks with an AI agent.

This guide shows how to connect Codex, Claude Code, or another capable agent to the bookkeeping workflows already built into Vibooks.

Use it now

Use Vibooks with any compatible agent.

The same two prompts work in Codex, Claude Code, and other agents that can read a public skill and use local tools.

  1. 1Put the source documents in one working folder.
  2. 2On first use, send the connection prompt and complete setup.
  3. 3For each bookkeeping task, send the second prompt, review the proposed entries, and confirm before anything is recorded.

Start in the folder containing your documents

No plugin is required. The first prompt connects or refreshes Vibooks; the second starts a reviewed bookkeeping task.

Keep the original documents in the working folder and approve the proposed entries only after reviewing them.

First connection

Use once to install or reconnect Vibooks. Use it again after the public skill changes.

Read https://vibooks.ai/skill.md and follow instructions

Every bookkeeping task

Use after setup. The agent must show the proposed entries and wait for your confirmation before writing to Vibooks.

Read the documents in the current directory, prepare the bookkeeping according to professional accounting standards, show me the proposed entries, and record them in Vibooks only after I confirm.

Optional plugin · Available now

Install Vibooks once, then reuse it across tasks.

The public Vibooks plugin packages the same bookkeeping workflow with reusable skills and structured local tools. Day-to-day requests can still stay in plain language.

Public plugin available

Install from the vibooks-ai/plugins repository for reusable Codex, Claude Code, and portable Agent Plugins support. The universal prompts above remain available without installation.

Built-in workflows

What the agent workflow covers.

The agent starts with discovery and evidence, then uses the right Vibooks workflow instead of treating every transaction as a generic journal entry.

01

Set up and verify

Install or reconnect Vibooks, verify the local API and CLI, and confirm the active company and book.

02

Bookkeep source documents

Turn receipts, bills, invoices, and statements into source-aware records with material ambiguities surfaced first.

03

Reconcile and close

Tie bank and card activity to registers and ledgers, explain differences, and prepare month-end checks.

04

Review independently

Compare posted bookkeeping with the original evidence in a read-only review before relying on the result.

Control stays visible

Review these controls before approving changes.

Vibooks gives agents an official API and CLI surface while keeping source records, reconciliation state, and review decisions visible in the product.

Local-first by default

Books remain on your device unless you choose to move or share them.

Official paths only

Agent workflows use Vibooks API and CLI interfaces, never direct database edits.

Approval before mutation

Material ambiguity stops the workflow, and non-read-only actions require authorization.

Install Vibooks, then give your agent a bookkeeping folder.

Start with the public skill today. Product and agent setup support are available when you need them.
