Today the Vatican City State is just a new name for the Papal States. Italy never occupied the territory that is now Vatican City State, and the Popes continued to claim rule over the whole of the previous territory of the Papal States until the Lateran Treaty was signed in 1929
Monaco is bigger than it is now. They lost most of their territory (cities of Mentone and Roccabruna) in about 1860.
Sardinia is actually Sardinia-Piedmont, a kingdom ruled by the House of Savoy. France got Savoy and Nice because France more than helped Italy win Austria and thus achieve unification.
