CAS MIX UP August Challenge

I'm hosting the challenge this month at CAS Mix Up and it's a Stencil one - use your stencil over patterned paper.

There's a couple of video links over on the CAS Mix Up blog to give you some ideas and of course you can see what the rest of the talented team have done to inspire you! There's also some guidelines for the challenges in general.

I used a piece of patterned paper from an Indigo Blu Magazine - it had daffodils on it but there were some large spaces which had a more muted background design, with some lines and a bit of scripty flourish.

Wild Honey (very apt!) sponged over a honeycomb stencil to create my finished background.

The bee is from the stamp set that came with the Magazine. After watercolouring I used a liberal helping of Glossy Accent over his body and applied some very fine glitter to his wings.

For a change I used some hammered textured cardstock instead of my usual bright white - I like it!
The sentiment is from MFT.
The CAS Mix Up rules are over on the challenge blog - have a look!

Try It On Tuesday - Oh So Sweet

The latest Try it on Tuesday challenge is called 'Oh So Sweet'.
So your make can be anything you like as long as it has a theme which is sweet related - Cute, pretty, cakes - anything which is sugary!

I used to do a lot of 'cute' cards but it's something that I don't do often now - that said I quite enjoyed doing this one which was simple and quick!

I took a honeycomb background stamp, inked and spritzed with water. This gave me a softer impression.

The bee stamps are all from MFT, coloured with Inktense watercolour pencils.
There was a matching set of dies but at the time I didn't get them so these are all fussy cut - the bees were little 'b's to cut out I can tell you!

Once I decided where they were going I stamped them directly onto the background so I could get their antennae and little stingy bit without having to worry about how I was going to cut them out - they looked real peculiar on the desk with just their round bodies and faces!

Once I'd stuck them down I gave their wings a little glittery dust and finished off with some tiny black paint splatters.

The sentiment is from the same set.

Look forward to seeing what you make this time round! x

Sunny Dreams

Still not a lot of crafty stuff going on here and I apologise for my sporadic visits to you all.

The yellow Brusho was out on the desk at the time of this make so splatted a little of that in a couple of places first.

Different grungy stamps used for the background, all stamped in Fossilized Amber. (I love this colour as it always makes me think of sunshine)

The flower head is from Altenew and I paired it with the stem and leaves from another stamp then watercoloured.
The bee was stamped twice, once on the card and once on another scrap, fussy cut the wings and glittered them a little.

Finished by stamping the word 'Dream' and a couple of my fave 'splatters' and thanks to Hermine for the inspiration whilst my mojo is AWOL!
