31 Nights of Halloween - Night 18 - Special Guest Vyvie Nguyen

Good evening, Whimsy friends!
Tonight we welcome the lovely Vyvie Nguyen to the blog!

Vyvie created a fun, brain-shaped shaker card featuring the adorable Zombie Boy stamp set.
She found a brain clipart image and cut it out with her Cricut.  Next, she stamped the word "brains" repeatedly to create a colorful background.  She added sequins and used her Fuse tool to seal the shaker.

She stamped one of the Zombie Boy images and colored and fussy-cut it.  She also stamped a sentiment from Zombie Boy and added it and the colored image with dimensional adhesive.

Thanks for the adorable inspiration, Vyvie!

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 14

Happy Thursday Crafty Friends! This is Jeanette and it is my turn to share a spooky project with you.  This is such a fun event - full of fun and inspiring projects and with some spooktacular prizes to boot!

For my card, I created a Slimline card that measures 3.5" x 8.75".  I adhered one of the papers from the Nebula Slimline Paper Pack to serve as the background.  I made sure to choose a paper with a color palette that contrasted with what I was going to choose to put in my hourglass.

For the hourglass, I used one of the papers from the Nevermore 6x6 Paper Pack and the die in the Slimline Hourglass Die Set.  Making sure that the crow was well centered, I die cut it using the bottom portion of the Slimline Hourglass Die.  Then I cut the leftover paper using the upper portion of the die.  My leftover paper didn't completely fill in the upper portion but that is okay since I was going to be covering it up!  Just make sure that the upper part is fully there!

To create the top, base and sides, I used the corresponding dies in the Hourglass die set and cut them all out of grey cardstock.  I then blended on Distress Inks in Weathered Wood and Black Soot to give some dimension.  I used one of the sentiments in the Morticia Clear Stamp Set and stamped it with Versafine Black Onyx onto the base.

I then stamped the skulls using one of the stamps in the Scream Time Clear Stamp Set onto some white Neenah Solar Crest paper using some very light ink. I didn't want any of the lines to show once my coloring was finished.

I used these Copic Markers:
0, W00, W1,W3, W7, E70, E71, E74, E77

Once I had finished coloring, I blended on some Brushed Corduroy ink onto it so that it would better match the bottom portion of the hourglass with the patterned paper.  I then cut out the top portion with scissors and then used the die in the hourglass set to die cut out the bottom portion.  It took a little finessing but it really is worth it for the final look!

I die cut one of the webs in the Spiders & Webs Die set out of vellum and then I adhered all these elements into place onto my card.

I used some dark blue cardstock and the Slimline Envelope Builder Die Set to create a coordinating envelope.  I sponged the edges with some Wilted Violet Distress ink.

Supplies:

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I had a lot of fun creating this card and I hope it inspires you to create your own spooky hourglass card!

Hugs Jeanette xxo

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 11 - Special Guest Marie Marco

Good evening, Whimsy friends!
Tonight we welcome the uber talented Marie Marco back to the blog for some spooky inspiration.

Hello Crafty Friends! I’m so happy to be back guest designing here on the Whimsy Blog! We are on full Halloween mode now! Today I am revisiting my favorite spooky stamp set from Whimsy Stamps! This stamp set, designed by Deb Davis, called Eye Scream is just so much fun that I knew I had to make another card with it! There are just endless possibilities with this set! Today I wanted all eyes on the image of the peekaboo Mummy eyeball!

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1jlVFHzblF44eS-jehZCexh8ujh2tDm-J

This is a very simple card using just one image as my focal point for the front of my card. I wanted this piece to have a vintage, gore vibe.
To start off, I die cut 2 A2 sized panels from sturdy 110 pound cardstock. I then found some vintage wallpaper Halloween pattern paper (any will do) and die cut it in A2 size. I adhered it to one of my cut panels using score tape and distress inked the edges in Walnut Stain and Black Soot distress inks.

I colored the eye using the noline coloring technique by stamping the image with Antique Linen and used water color pencils to color. You can you use any kind of watercolors!
Then taking a vintage-looking frame die, I cut out the die using black card stock. I also used vellum paper for some simple interest which I also distress inked and placed behind the eye. To frame my focal point eye image, I watercolored some random sprigs and foliage die cuts to create a wreath . To make everything POP, I added some red texture glue using an old bottle of Scribbles fabric glue to create that bloody amazing detail! You can use any red texture glue - like Nuvo drops would work perfectly!  I love this part!
I wanted to keep the front of my card simple, so I put my sentiment on the inside.

I used Whimsy’s amazing Happy Halloween Word Die for my sentiment.  I also used the bat eye from the “Eye Scream” Stamp set.  I cut off the wings to replace the “o” in Halloween. I love the font of this Happy Halloween Word Die so much! It evokes very spooky vibes!!

Presto! A simple Halloween Card that your gore-loving friends and family will love this Spooky Season!!! I would like to give Whimsy Stamps a big, Giant THANK YOU for letting me be a part of  the Halloween Blog Celebration!!! I had so much fun creating this card! I hope you all have a very fun and memorable Halloween Season!!! Take care! -Marie

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 10 - Special Guest Kelly Wauters

Hi Whimsy friends! Kelly W. here.

Welcome to Night 10 of the 31 Nights of Halloween Event!
I am so excited and honored to be a part of this awesome blog event.
Halloween is my favorite part of the year, and creating Halloween cards is my absolute favorite hobby.

I love Pumpkins so I definitely wanted to use the Bat Balloon stamp

First I colored the image with regular coloring pencils.

Then I created a starry background with my Gell plate and some acrylic paint.

I glued Mr. Pumpkin onto the background, glued the background onto white cardstock, et voila -
One fun, cute, Whimsy Halloween card.

I hope you like this card and will join me this month for more Whimsy Halloween cards.

Thank you and Happy Halloween!

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 4

Hello!  Tricia here with you tonight to share a spooky cute card using the Candy Corn Dress Up!  I started off by taking a black card panel and embossed with the Bats Galore Slimline Embossing Folder.  I love the spooky details that it adds to the card.

I stamped the images from Candy Corn Dress Up onto Neenah cardstock and colored with my Copic markers.  I added some details with a white gel pen to the images.  I used the following Copics for my coloring:

W00, W1, W3, W5, W7, C1, C3, C5, 0, YR04, YR07, YR09, Y11, Y13, Y15, Y19, BG11, BG53, BG13, R20, YG03, YG23, YG17, E41, E42, E44

I die cut the panel with the Build-a-Graveyard die set.   I used Distress Inks of Prized Ribbon, Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron and placed behind the die cut panel.  I then stamped the Grave Epitaphs with several of the images from the stamp set.   I then die cut some of the extra images: grave, fence, bats and skull using the Build-a-Graveyard die set to spook up my card.

I love Halloween and just love that Whimsy Stamps celebrates with a month long of inspiration through the 31 Nights of Halloween!  So much fun to be had each day - be sure to watch for the posts every night!  Play along with us and link up your Halloween creations - see the post here for the link up and details.

Special Guest - Jennifer Snyder

Hello, Whimsy fans!  You are in for a treat today as we welcome the talented Jennifer Snyder to the blog!

Today I am thrilled to be a special guest blogger for Whimsy Stamps as we celebrate the start to the Halloween season.   I created shakers cards using some of the sweet and some of the spooky designs.

Whimsy Stamps is more than stamps.  They have an amazing selection of unique dies with a variety of themes including build-a-scene die sets that really caught my eye.

Sweet Shaker Card
Here is my first shaker card - sweet before scary - stamped onto watercolor paper and painted with watercolor pencils.

Easy DIY Instructions
Here are my easy DIY instructions:

I'd also like to take a moment to mention the embellishments added to the card. The shaker mix is Monster Mash Sprinkletz (NK150) shaker mix from Buttons Galore. Totally adorable and perfect for this crazy shaker.

I also added a 3D button Bat and spider also from Buttons Galore and More.  These are from the Happy Hauntings 3D button pack HH104. They make perfect finishing touches.

Next up - spooky.

This card features the  Whimsy Stamps - Build -a-Graveyard Die Set - designed by Deb Davis (Amped2Stamp).  Well actually this is a combo of the sweet and the spooky because I used the sentiments from Spooky Kitties Clear Stamp by Dustin Pike as the stamped sentiments  for the grave stones.

This is the wonderful way to mix and match products.  I like to keep thinking of ways to combine products to get the most "bang for my buck" as the saying goes.

I want to highlight that 31 Days of Halloween hosted by the Whimsy Stamps team.  Stay tuned because there are prizes, frightful inspiration and lots of fun.

Thanks for stopping here today.  Happy crafting.

31 Nights of Halloween - Night 24 - Special Guest Rebecca Rapanaro

Tonight we welcome the talented Rebecca Rapanaro back to the Whimsy blog!

I am so happy to be special guest designer a second time this month at Whimsy Stamps! It's their annual 31 Nights of Halloween Blog Celebration, and there is so much fun to be had!  So for this Project, I guess you noticed, it’s all about Vampires! The decision was difficult, but Vlad won in the end!

I wanted to give this card a Hollywood Classic Horror look. I started by ink blending a background and then cut Whimsy’s Slimline Film Strip Die out of a sparkly card stock and adhered it to the background. Next, I used images from Screams in Vein and Grave Epitaphs. I also used the Build-a-Graveyard Die Set.Build-a-Graveyard Die Set. All was coloured using Copic markers and Prismacolor Pencils. Highlights were added using Gel Pens, and I added sequins from my stash for a little more shine and interest. Something that always strikes me as amazing about Whimsy’s products is just how versatile they are. They can be mixed and matched for different occasions.

Copic Colours

Vampire – 0, YG91, BG10, BG000, T0

Girl – E11, E00, E0000, E34, R46, E37, E39, E49, YG05, YG25, T2, R27, R17

Grave – BG10, C4, BV31, N2, C5

Skull – E31, G82, C5
