  1. Don’t Trust Hey! Broadband’s Status Page

My ISP is the enthusiastically-named Hey!Broadband. They’re an altnet provider, running on F&W Networks. (Actually I believe they are a subsidiary.) I’ve been with them since they first laid fibre on our street about 3 years ago. Until a few months ago, they were the only FTTP option for us; and they’re still the only symmetrical FTTP offering. (BT Openreach recently reached our street, but their service is asymmetrical: the top tier is 900 Mbps down, 110 Mbps up. I have 400 Mbps down and 400 Mbps up, both nominally and in practice. Wi-Fi is the limiting factor. I don’t generally need 400 Mbps up but it’s sometimes extremely useful.)

  2. Exporting per-instrument, per-section stems from Strudel to Godot

I composed the music for BGColor 2025 using Strudel. You can take the source code for the music, paste it into a Strudel tab, and play along.

Strudel runs in the browser and does not itself provide any way to capture the audio for use elsewhere. This piece has four instruments (drums, piano, bass, synth) and three sections (A, B, C). There is randomness in each part so I wanted to capture four variations of each section. I also needed to capture each instrument separately so that I could fade each instrument in and out in the game. So ultimately I needed 4 × 3 × 4 = 48 audio files.
