summer in june - a la plancha

rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam rotterdam

Rotterdam - 9th of June 2021
A La Plancha is a pop-up restaurant on the Noordereiland, the island in the river Maas in Rotterdam. During spring and summer a terrace is built on the bridgehead of the old Willemsbrug. Sustainable fish, fried on the grill (a la plancha) on the menu. The location and the atmosphere provide a special experience, as if you are on holiday.

Yesterday evening we first had a citywalk and later on dinner in the sunset at the Maas with the four of us; Soufiane, friend and (Noorder)island resident, son Minne and Henk & moi.

Summer in June, carpe diem.

><((('> fish scrubbers

Super cute souvenir from New York, practically flat, because it had to fit in the hand luggage suitcase.

I found the crocheted fish at Anthropologie

A friend and former cool crochet workhsop participant, spotted my fish post on Instagram.

><((('> fish scrubbers

She was inspired to crochet these fish scrubbers after seeing the pair of fish and she happened to find a crochet pattern. @1dogwoof wrote up a pattern for the fish scrubbers a few years back. You can find the free pattern on her blog.

And check the fishes my friend @haveeweanywool made HERE.

Don't you think they are cute?

By the way, I use them as pot holders...

Mogador, Medina at the ocean.

After some weeks in Marrakech it was such a difference to be in Essaouira.

For me it was the first time in Essaouira.
We were lucky, because it was exceptionally quiet in the city, so I really could experience the authentic atmosphere. And hardly no wind, also very unusual.

We walked along the harbor, where fishermen were unloading the catch of the day at that time. So many fresh fish and of course I made a lot of pictures, what a photogenic place!

My friend Ank had some fresh oysters at a stall in the harbor. After an overdose of fishy smell, we left the harbor and crossed the main square with playing kids.

We had verbena tea while watching the sunset and thereafter we strolled through the charming narrow streets in the medina and of course we had fish for dinner that night.

fish on the fence friday

fish on the fence fish eye fish on the fence

Yay, it's Friday!

The last June days have been amazing. We had some long summer evenings this week. Staying outside until sunset.

The cool wooden fish on the garden fence we found last year in Sesimbra on our Portugal road trip. Those are the best souvenirs.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and thumbs up for many more long summer evenings in the garden!

Laundry day in Sesimbra. Exactly one month ago during our roadtrip in Portugal.
Sesimbra is not only about cheerful laundry on the washing line, also lots of lovely street art, beautiful tiles and fresh fish.
It's been a month ago and we miss a vida portuguesa.
