About Wordy
Our Story
Wordy was founded in 2024 by Sándor Bogyó, an indie developer from Budapest, out of a simple frustration: watching English-language series like Suits and not understanding every word, but not wanting to pause the show to look things up. His idea: an app that shows subtitles in sync with the video, highlights the difficult words, and saves them automatically.
He built the first version in under a month. Thousands of people downloaded it within the first week, and days after launch TechCrunch published a feature article about Wordy. Today, Wordy has surpassed 300,000 downloads across 100+ countries, holds a 4.8-star rating from more than 13,000 reviews, was selected as an Apple "Apps We Love" pick, and won the grand prize at OTP Bank's Junior Piacralépők startup competition in 2025.
Wordy is developed and operated by Appalex Kft. (Appalex Ltd.), a company registered in Budapest, Hungary. Full company details: Terms of Service
