A legislative wrangle lasting more than a decade has finally been settled after the European Council and the European Parliament agreed to revise rules over air passenger delay compensation and free cabin luggage.
When Europe needs economic growth to improve its defence spending, the best our leaders can manage is new regulations about airline cabin bags, which deny airlines the right to advertise our lowest available air fares.
A crew member alerted passengers to the situation on board the airplane commenting. "There is a fire situation in the cabin. We are organising firefighting protocols, please remain calm and do not panic" ... .
The agreement still needs final approval from EU institutions but if it goes ahead, passengers would be entitled to travel with both a personal item, such as a handbag or backpack, and a small cabin suitcase weighing up to 7kg without paying extra.
