Em(m)anuel or Im(m)anuel may refer to :
Emanuel was a five-piece rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It was formed in 1998 under the lesser-known name Emanuel Nice and appeared on four self-released records, before being signed to Vagrant Records and changing the name in 2004. Since then, Emanuel has released a debut album, Soundtrack to a Headrush, and a second album Black Earth Tiger.
The roots of the band go back to Jeffersonville, Indiana, a town located just outside Louisville. After 14-year-old high school students Matt Breen and Bryan Whiteman met Anthony Brock and Mat Barber (who attended another school, Providence, in Clarksville, IN) at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, the quartet decided to form the garage band Emanuel Nice in 1998.
Emanuel Nice recorded a rather inept eight-song EP Hi-Skool Trivia in December 1998. The CD was issued the following year through the German underground record label, Roddog Records, which was run by friends of the band. In the following years, while still in high school, Emanuel Nice appeared on two split records — one with New Jersey's already renowned Lanemeyer, another with the German punk band Colourbone — before recording their second EP, Wait, in 2002. However, despite lots of touring and local performances, none of these releases led to evenn local stardom.
Emanuel, Emmanuel, Emmanuil or Immanuel is a given name or surname derived from the Hebrew name עמנואל (Immanuel, meaning ′God is with us′). The name is common to both Jewish and Christian naming traditions. The middle Hebrew letter "mem" is a gemination giving rise to the co-existence of single "m" and double "mm" (romanized) transliterations in many languages. The name has many variant spellings, including Emanuele in Italy, Imanol in Basque and Manuel in Portugal and Spain.
With regard to Written Torah and Tanach, in Judaism the name עמנואל ("Immanuel") is known to be without any messianic significance. In Talmud and Midrash of the Oral Torah the name does not occur. It is also not among the many names for the Mashiach (′Jewish Messiah′).
In contrast, Christian theology interprets the name in the light of the Gospel according to Matthew 1:23 relating it to divine Jesus, and alleges that it was a prophetic name used in Isaiah 7:14 of the Christian Old Testament.

Cand ne iubim sar scantei
Deseara fugim daca vrei
Sclavul tau sa fiu as vrea
Iar tu stapana mea
Nu pot sa stau intr-un loc
Si hainele simt ca-mi iau foc
Tu imi soptesti ca ai vrea
Sa stau drepti in fata ta
Eu iti soptesc c-as putea
