IOTA - 42's Digital Learning Program for Primary Education
Launched in France in 2021 by Sophie Viger, IOTA is a ready-to-use educational platform designed to introduce children aged 7 to 11 to digital skills through peer learning and play-based activities. The program is available in both French and English.
To evaluate its educational impact, 42 partnered with the French Ministry of National Education on a scientific study conducted by an independent research team. Carried out during the 2023–2024 school year, the study found a positive impact on pupils’ confidence in their ability to learn programming, as well as improvements in the classroom environment and social interactions, including a reduction in negative emotions and bullying.
IOTA helps develop key digital competencies, including digital citizenship and online safety, algorithmic thinking and programming, media and information literacy, an introduction to artificial intelligence, and cyberbullying awareness.
