Pondok Indah Mall 3

Jakarta, Indonesia

Located at the heart of Jakarta, nothing short of a grand design is fit for Pondok Indah Mall 3 & Office Tower 5. The design combines the functions of a shopping mall and office tower.

In recent years, South Jakarta has experienced significant growth. By 2020, Jakarta experienced a demographic bonus, with most of its population being young, presenting significant potential in retail and commercial sectors. This youthful demographic has inspired the overall concept of Pondok Indah Mall 3 & Office Tower 5, resulting in a youth-centric design. Modern and sleek with muted bright colors bring a cozy and youthful, yet cutting-edge feel to the buildings. The convenience and dynamic functionalities of the development enhance user experiences, catering to both business and leisure needs in one prime location.

The key ideas highlighted in this mall is the prominent canopied entrance, which is designed to welcome and attract passers-by, as well as the open-air plaza beneath it, creating a flexible leisure spaces of retail, entertainment, and F&B tenants with healthy air circulation.

Another key part of the design is the connector bridge that serves as transitional retail spaces between the rest of the malls. The bridge’s design is fluid and organic, matching the casual flexibility of PIM 3’s youthful concept.

The design process began in 2012-2013, with the function hall design level 5 being requested in 2015 and fully completed in 2021 during the pandemic.

The Street Gallery Experience: Capturing Youthful in Organic Design and Retail Transformation.

The main concept of Pondok Indah Mall 3 (PIM 3), known as the Street Gallery, is inspired by the urban acupuncture approach and the vibrant interactions of the youth generation, the design aims to capture this dynamic ambiance. We selected an ideal roof material that not only complements the form but also allows natural light to flood the area. This design involves an organic roof spanning the corridor and atrium, aimed at rejuvenating the entire space. The transformation turns the retail environment into a place where visitors can leisurely wander and explore.

The curvy roof of Pondok Indah Mall helps save energy by using natural light, which reduces the need for artificial lighting. This not only makes the building more eco-friendly but also supports a healthier environment. The flowing roof design blends architecture with the surroundings and community activities, creating a unified and beautiful space.
