Queen places final poppy on WW2 tribute display
Queen Camilla has visited a community project and attached the final knitted poppy to a cascade of thousands draping down a church tower.
Her Majesty came to view The Poppy Project, a display of knitted and crocheted poppies, created to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the World War Two.
The community initiative was inspired by Peacock Women's Institute (WI), Corsham, and brought together a wide range of community groups.
Addressing WI members, the Queen said: "It's so lovely because it's all the generations working together, you've got poppies coming out of your ears."
The Queen's second engagement brought her to Bromham to visit the village's new community hub.
She officially opened the building which has been rebuilt following a devastating fire.
The new hub, featuring a cafe and flexible community spaces, aims to reinvigorate village life, reduce isolation, and support mental wellbeing.
Jim Butler, Chair of Bromham Parish Council, said: "I don't quite know how we've achieved it really. It's just mind-blowing and it's down to the community."
Queen Camilla met with local organisations as well as key figures from Wiltshire, including chief constable Catherine Roper.
