Spike

Spike is an alias of producer and multi-media artist Matt Jarrett. The project first came about in the mid 90’s when he was immersed in the burgeoning UK breakbeat scene, and influenced by a long standing interest in classic Electro Funk and Detroit Techno. What emerged from these early sessions was a unique style that at the time didn’t have a name. Working with a minimal setup, using a single MMT-8 sequencer and outboard gear, multitrack recording complex fx signal chains, synth and eq passes live. This innovative approach to sound design is still the modus-operandi of the project. Previously unreleased tracks can be heard on the album Sport Model, with new music forthcoming on Sonic Heavy.
