FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Whether it's the glow of the carnival lights, the sounds of your favorite band or the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls the Big Fresno Fair appeals to all the senses.

The Big Fresno Fair announced new events in hopes of attracting large crowds to the grandstands, filling the void left by horse racing in 2025.

A Big Fresno Fair tradition is now officially canceled as state regulators blocked live horse racing in a narrow 4-3 vote on Thursday.

The Big Fresno Fair application was for seven racing days between Sept. 17-Oct. 7. Only one of the dates requested for live racing, Oct. 1, would have overlapped with the actual fair.
