It’s not entirely accurate to say that expectations were low for 2016’s “Moana,” but Walt Disney Animation was in a strange place at the time, figuring out how to reclaim its storytelling mojo. “Moana” managed to find a sizeable audience when it was released, but the feature developed into something special for most people, delivering an incredible soundtrack and gorgeous animation that only improved on repeat viewings.
