Con Air and The Rock will definitely sell big if they are redone in 4K and released in 4K. I would throw in Gone in 60 Seconds (remake) as well. These are titles that sold really well on Blu-ray back in the days
getting really old seeing company's cash in on uneducated or ignorant consumers by constantly releasing 2K upscales and charging you the price of a brand new 4K remaster or Native 4K release. It is literally false advertising.
Smh, I'm sooo Disappointed with Disney to the point. Idk what they come out with and then they charge Top Dollar for older movies. Like this is their best effort in PQ/AQ. And they both Suck. But I wanted to get these so bad I just can't get pass the weak soundtrack. I brought my system to feel the movies intense sound. Not hear Mono 1.0 Tv sound. Smh
Since these movies were shot digitally, DNR is less likely to be a problem. Despite the DNR flaws with 'Iron Man 1/2' & 'Thor', the 4k video on those is largely superior to their older Blu-rays thanks to the built-in sharper resolution and HDR.
Disney needs to chill, like how am I going to pay the bills if they keep releasing these movies in packs? Like Sept is having a few of their Pixar movies and now the next phase in Marvel movies are releasing. But worst is the disappointing transfer, come on Disney get it right or don't do it.
Great nice to have all the Marvel films in 4k now, will get eventually. Would love to see more Disney catalog titles get the 4k treatment, Mary Poppins, Bedknobs & Broomsticks(Restored Edition), Pete's Dragon(Original & Remake), Swis Family Robinson, 20,00 Leagues Under the Sea etc
It still amazes me that Marvel, originally a COMIC BOOK company now owned by DISNEY, still our out the laziest cover art for their movies most of the time. I always expect something colorful and amazing, but instead usually get something bland, boring and lazy that looks like they spend 5 minutes putting together with some png’s and a free trial photoshop clone.
All the releases are mismatched with the different slipcover arts for the old and new releases, plus DNR on some and not on others. Messed up audio, everything totally messed up.
While I am not upgrading all my 1080pBD’s to 2160p, I will be picking up the UHD of Dr. Strange, since in Australia, our Blu-Ray release had a lossy track (DTS-HD-HR 5.1). Will be great to have a lossless track for Dr. Strange.
One ironic thing is they do all the 2K DI catalog Marvels but none of the 4K DI catalog Lucasfilm titles! (Rogue One, Force Awakens, The Phantom Menace, Return Of The Jedi, The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars; and the first two are basically ready and done for sure since they had laser 4k theatrical releases)
Of course, after waiting out the whole year (May would've made some sense!) now they probably feel it's too close to Rise Of The Skywalker. Probably won't do them until Christmas 2020 now.
Agree with most. Won’t buy anything from Disney with a weak, downgraded Atmos track. 1080p with the hard hitting DTS MA track will be good. It’s sad, it was an understanding for me that Disney/Pixar put out excellent soundtracks with delicious LFE which made me want to collect animated titles. Disappoint after disappointment, reading reviews that the track lacks dynamics and LFE. Now they’re mixing their ATMOS tracks for a sound bar with two or four upfiring speakers.
I’m surprised people still drool over Disney despite their blatant disrespect for the consumer. They put out subpar stuff, charge more than anyone else (and never lower their prices beyond a certain threshold), but the response to their releases still produce fanaticism.
Doctor Strange, Guardians Vol.1 and Maleficent may yield interesting results, but we’ll have to wait and see.
I'm happy to see they are releasing Ant-Man on UHD. I'll be buying that one. I was a little worried they were only going to end up having the sequel on UHD (Ant-Man and The Wasp) and weren't going to release the first one.
Like others are saying about middling 4k releases thus far (some MCU titles look fabulous, others notsomuch) - the unequivocally disappointing Atmos audio, and Disney charging up the bum for catalog titles - I will not purchase ANY of them.
Sad, too, because I really want GotG Vol. 1, but I am 99% sure it won't be worth $30.
I skipped on Cap Marvel, Thor 1 & 2, Black Panther on 4K, but these are some of my fav's from the MCU, I have all of the 3D blurays which can NEVER be replaced, but I'll pick these up just in case I want to watch in 2D.
@ Bowiee1984 The biggest con to uneducated consumers is Dolby Vision and I agree 2k Upscaled .But Dolby Vision without a 12 bit panel is got people spending money on a HDR technology that doesn't work. What your seeing is a 10 bit HDR10+.Perople need to wake up to a huge scam going on.
I'm glad for the Marvel people, but I hope Disney gets the Star Wars franchise out in 4K. It seems like the new ones would be pretty easy to put out in 4K.
