The Batman 4K Blu-ray
Posted April 11, 2022 04:00 PM by
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Matt Reeves' The Batman (2022), starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, and John Turturro. The two releases will be available for purchase on May 24.
Studio description: More than a year of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies—Alfred (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright)—amongst the city's corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens. When a killer targets Gotham's elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World's Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle (Zoë Kravitz), Oz, aka The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka The Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator's plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
The film is directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay by Reeves and Peter Craig, based on characters created by DC, produced by Dylan Clark and Reeves, with Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Simon Emanuel executive producing.

I'm in for the 4K...have yet to see the film. It's supposed to hit HBOMax on April 19th. Looking forward to it! Streaming is fun, but physical media forever...
So glad this is from Warner Bros. rather than Paramount or Disney. If Paramount it wouldn't include a Blu-ray. If Disney, they might have made it a Disney+ exclusive to coerce subscriptions/loyalty rather than giving consumers true freedom of choice. But, I'm sure the day is coming when Warner conforms to the gods of greed too.
Ordered the batmobile 4K steelbook from Italy and the Best Buy exclusive from here in the states. All this for a movie I thought was okay. Oh well the wife loves it. I’ll give it another try.
I hate when a filmmaker does a commentary for deleted scenes but not for the film itself. He's already in the studio recording for the deleted scenes. Get him to do the film too.
@JurassicBD...Warner Bros. used ZS' Justice League to boost subscriptions, the 4K (which stomps the streaming version into the dirt) took months for WB to release. I'm not sure what you're talking about. The Batman is scheduled to be on HBOMax on the 19th of April, the 4K at the end of May. Every consumer has a freedom of choice for these streaming options or waiting it out for the physical release. People bought the streaming version of Spider-Man: No Way Home, now it's out on disc and includes the digital code...all people had to do was wait, and they'd have both the 4K disc, the streaming code, plus a blu-ray disc...Freedom of choice? Just wait it out. If a studio makes an offer, it's on you to accept it.
I was skeptical of Pattinson... But he's now my favorite Batman. Saw it twice in cinemas and will probably see it there one more time, before the disc comes out.
Really enjoyed this when my wife and I saw it in the theater. Probably my favorite Batman movie. Went ahead and preordered the steelbook from Best Buy.
Is there a society or guild that gives awards for media cover art?
Because that steelbook cover is as deserving as I've ever seen.
Very inventive and eye-catching.
What a movie Wow ! A masterpiece cant wait to own this one. This is just not a comicbook movie its a movie that transcend the genre like TDK and Logan. Reeves and Pattinson created something we should all bow to.
Looking at the back cover of the standard Blu, I would presume all of the releases are gonna be three discs because there's honestly no way WB would put a three hour film and two hours of bonus content on one single disc.
I'm with the few (on here at least) that just didn't care for the film. NOT here to debate or change anyone's mind, nor do I expect them to change mine. This just didn't do it for me. I wanted to like it, was so looking forward to it, but it bored me to tears. Penguin had nothing to do, I didn't like the look of the riddler and I found the story to just be bloated and plodding. I'm not a defender of Nolan's other films at all, but I think he mastered the dark knight. This entire film was dark and rainy, just downbeat the entire time. I wanted to see just one smile lol. Nothing about it felt epic at all. He chases penguin in that popular scene used in the trailers then he just questions him. The corruption angle just felt small and useless too. To each their own. I know many like the detective aspect, but I saw snippets of that with the Nolan films, but it actually was entertaining and exciting. Pattinson I guess did fine as Batman, but he just had that sad sack vibe as Bruce Wayne. I hope I never have to sit through this one again. My buddy couldn't even convince me to go. He even said he'd buy my ticket and i was like Nah I'm good.
@matt86 You are not alone. Saw this one in a superb IMAX auditorium with the best sound system I've ever heard in a theatre. That being said, there wasn't one minute of this slog that wasn't a bore.
I enjoyed every minute of the 4+ hrs of Snyder's Justice League. But I felt this Batman was too long. I left the movie multiple times for food and bathroom breaks with no problem. Came back in and didn't feel like I missed anything.
Svanur08, people always moan about remakes, reboots etc.. but when they are given original material, they don’t turn up and instead wait for streaming.
Namely, The Last Duel, The Green Knight, Last Night In Soho etc..
For the record, I loved The Batman. Favourite film of the year so far.
@Steedeel, you make a valid point. X comes to mind which I actually liked. What I miss are the days back in the 90's and before when you could have original films, but they didn't have that indie feel. I mean big stars, but films made more for adults. The ones you listed just feel so specific to one audience. Think of let's say a film like Shawshank Redemption. It could have a mass appeal and be an original story, with the big stars to help sell it and people would show up. Even Nic Cage back then had some great films. I don't think a film like Last Night in Soho would've attracted a huge audience. It just lacks that broad appeal. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it's targeted to a more specific audience.
@matt86 Shawshank actually underperformed at the box office. Critics loved it, but it didn’t do well in theaters. VHS rentals, award noms, and word of mouth catapulted it into success (deservedly so).

matt86, i dodn't think the public really cared for 'shawshamk' during it's initial box office run. i also think it's pretty much impossible in today's climate for oscar noms/getting re-released and word of mouth to make a film a big hit money wise.
plus don't forget that film was based on a stephen king story.so not even original material.
For those wondering about a commentary, there is one but it's an iTunes extra exclusive. So you'll be able to access it with the digital copy code if you have an MA/iTunes account.
