Posted October 8, 2022 03:06 AM by
Discotek Media has announced its December batch of Blu-ray releases. They are: Female Yakuza Tale (1973), Project A-Ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody (1988), Saiyuki Reload: Burial (2007), Machine Robo: Battle Hackers (1987), Digimon: Digital Monsters - Season One (1999-2000), and Lupin III: Farewell to Nostradamus (1995).
Description: Female Yakuza Tale - Inquisition And Torture is an anarchistic apex in the career of Japanese cult director, Teruo Ishii, whose fifty year resume includes Horror of Malformed Men and Bohachi Bushido. Notoriously lacking restraint, sexy 'pinky violence' star, Reiko Ike, returns in this gonzo sequel to Sex and Fury following the further exploits of Ocho, a thief and gambler running afoul of evil yakuza in Meiji Era Tokyo.
Description: This Cinderella Story's Happy Ending is Anything But!
Spring is in the air, and that means love is sure to follow. Or at least, overpowered redhead A-ko really hopes it does! While out shopping for the perfect dress, A-ko gets into an argument with the normally carefree C-ko, who's more interested in having fun than having a boyfriend. When C-ko runs away, she's nearly hit by handsome hunk and motorcyclist Kei, who is in turn hit by a panicking A-ko rushing after her friend. Left with only a glass slipper earring to remember "her" by, when A-ko and Kei meet again at A-ko's part-time job, the passion of youth is sure to bloom! Or will it? Throw in conniving B-ko's plans to ruin anything good for A-ko, a whiny C-ko, and a whole mess of mecha, and you've got yourself a Cinderella Rhapsody! Discotek is bursting with pride to present this beloved anime classic in high-definition for the very first time anywhere!

Project A-Ko 3 goes way lighter on the superpowered shenanigans until the very end, and this rubbed some fans the wrong way--but I love it. This is the one I was waiting for!
Lupin III: Dead or Alive just arrived and on the back it's listed as theatrical #6. This means that Discotek is considering The Fuma Conspiracy as a theatrical release instead of the OVA that it is. How annoying.
@Catalyst691 I'm excited about Digimon too! With that being said, I'm going to wait for the original Japanese version coming out next year (they announced early this year that Japanese audio with English sub will come out after the English audio version)
I'm glad for the Digimon English dub, too! Just wondered if the "upscaled" 1080p worries anyone, or do you all think they will look even better than the DVDs from NewVideo from years ago?
Glad to see Digimon, and hopefully we can get Digimon Adventure 02 and Tamers out of this also... Tamers was my favorite, but it stands alone, so I hope we can at least get DA02 since it's directly connected to the first and to the tri movies. I do wonder why they didn't do both versions together though, I know they can't do two audio options on one disc because of the cutting etc but seems like they could have put both versions in one box instead of two separate sets.
