DIY Boho Tablescape Decor
Hello friends! I've been taking some time off to work on some cool new content for the blog, so please excuse my short absence.
To kick the season off, I've styled a simple and fresh tablespace inspired by all things boho and with a modern Scandinavian vibe.
I think this style is perfectly suited to a spring dinner party, brunch or a mother's day celebration at home!
DIY Boho Tablescape Decor
To dress my boho tablescape, I used lots of DIY decorations, together with varying textures.
My color palette was pastels and earthy tones; and I used various textures throughout the table and on the backdrop, like faux-leather, wood, glass, bamboo and ceramic for an eclectic but modern look.
I really like the current trend of modern, boho Scandinavian and thought these colors and textures really complemented each other, and helped to bring this whole style trend together.
For each place-setting, I used my natural water hyacinth chargers or placemats for texture.
On top, I used bamboo plates and wooden-handle flatware, along with the faux-leather glasses and carafe.
Check out all the DIY details below!
DIY Faux-Leather Tableware
My first DIY craft project was this cool faux-leather tableware set with bottles and glasses.
This was such a fun and easy project, and shows that you don't have to spend a fortune to create a bespoke and high-end look when it comes to tableware!
With a little creativity you can simply upcycle or jazz up inexpensive glasses and serving utensils, plates or carafes for any season and occasion or celebration!
DIY Bamboo Caning Vase and DIY Paper Palm Leaves
Next, I used bamboo caning to create my boho-chic vase, which I filled with paper palm leaves.
For the vase, I used a roll of bamboo caning bought at my local craft store. But I did check, and you can also get it online on Amazon, anywhere in the world.
Dried palm leaves are all the rage at the moment, and I have seen them being used in floral arrangements to balloons installations, to party table backdrops.
Since I did not fancy going out just to buy palm leaves...I decided to make my own using brown Kraft wrapping paper and pastel colored cardstock.
Both of these DIY craft projects were super easy top make, and quite inexpensive too!
I used papers that I already had at home for the palm leaves, and the bamboo caning cost about 10 dollars for a large roll. I used some of it for this DIY vase, and the rest for the wall décor.
This boho inspired vase is the perfect table centerpiece for a dinner party, or a simple celebration at home. You could use it as décor piece anywhere in your home, like a mantel or shelf!
DIY Ceramic Upcycled Vases
These ceramic vases were a last minute addition to my table setting. They can be both used on a table, but I actually used them to decorate the backdrop of my table, which happens to be my studio fireplace.
Once my table was set, the backdrop looked a little bare, so I decided to re-vamp some vases and glass bottles I already had at home to fill up the space.
Once again, these vases can be used as regular recipients for flowers, or can be used as décor statement pieces as I did on a mantel or shelf
This is probable the least expensive project, since I recycled old glass bottles and a vase I already had at home.
To create the ceramic look, I used mat acrylic paint and a special technique that you can see in the video 😉
DIY Bamboo Caning Wall Décor
I really like the look of displaying baskets together as a wall décor idea!
Since I did not have such a pretty collection, I decide to emulate that look using the left-over bamboo caning from the above vase project and some wooden bamboo hoops I already had at home.
This was such a quick and easy project, and I think the final result is really high-end and very boho, if I may say so myself! 🥰
I only used 3 embroidery hoops for this collection, but you could totally create larger collection to display on a larger area, by varying the texture of the bamboo caning and the size of the hoops.
Hope you like the ideas and feel inspired to have a go! If you do, tag me on social media @BirdsParty so I can see and share your creativity! 😍
