As a Freshman, Richard Casimir (QST ‘27), knew he wanted to make an impact on the BU community but didn’t know where to begin. Originally from Port Au Prince Haiti, Richard was looking for ways to meet like minded peers on campus who shared his interest in entrepreneurship and social impact, and ultimately joined the First-Year Innovation Fellowship Program.
Upon acceptance into the First-Year Innovation Fellowship cohort, Richard found a second home amongst a diverse group of peers and mentors and jumped right into hands-on entrepreneurial work. Over the course of his year in the cohort, Richard brainstormed ways to spread financial literacy, a topic he became passionate about after witnessing firsthand the gaps in financial knowledge that exist between his communities in Haiti and Boston.
After consulting with coaches and mentors, Richard decided to dive deeper into financial literacy by participating in Project Action, where he brought his idea to life with funding and coaching. Richard planned and executed “Bridging the Wealth Gap”, an event focused on increasing financial literacy amongst BU’s community through open conversation about finance in a safe and supportive environment.
Today, Richard is entering his second year at BU majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. From the First-Year Innovation Fellowship to Bridging the Wealth Gap, Richard’s entrepreneurial journey is far from over, and we can’t wait to see what he’ll innovate next!
