Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

One Piece, Vol. 57 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (552–562) of the on-going manga series.

This tankōbon begins a new story arc. Whitebeard, the strongest of the world's pirates, arrives with his forces to free Portgas D. Ace – his first officer and second in command of his pirate crew. As he and the navy begin their war to decide Ace's fate, the world watches the events of the battle unfold on television.

Whitebeard's pirates are slow to gain any ground, and it is not until the arrival of Monkey D. Luffy and the other Impel Down escapees that they are able to break through the navy's barricade. In an effort to eliminate all of them, the navy boxes the pirates in and cuts off the telecast, wanting to keep the world from witnessing the coming slaughter.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part it is written and constructed rather well. Unable to rescue his brother, Prtgas D. Ace before he was transferred, Monkey D. Luffy and his group of prison escapees follow after him to Marineford. With time running out until Ace's execution, the Whitebeard Pirates and the World Government prepare their forces to clash in a battle that could drastically change the era.

All in all, One Piece, Vol. 57 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

For me, One Piece is best Manga ever written. The story always touch my heart, it is a combination of faithful friendship, laughter, loyalty and action.
Some people might find this manga as silly and pointless (I’ve heard this before) but they never truly read the Manga and therefore judging it simply from the cover. I’ve been in that position too…and thank God I finally looked beyond the cover and found the greatest adventure any Mangaka ever written.

Paramount War is the biggest clash in One Piece yet. It's a spectacle worthy of being a world-changing event. Ace is imprisoned and has to watch his comrades fight and die for him, in order to rescue him. Oda writes this part of a story as one long chase scene with Luffy, where he does not stand a chance again anyone - he just runs. It's bloody, hectic and epic. Amazing war to witness. There are multiple huge revelations and confirmations and it just works perfectly.

MARINEFORD ARC - PART 1
1. EHHHHH???? ACE IS GOL D ROGER'S SON? NOT DRAGON'S? HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH (ace got his mother's freckles im gonna cry)

2. WHAT THE FUCK IS WHITEBEARD'S POWER??????? WHY IS EVERYBODYS POWER SO CRAZY??????? WHAT IS HAPPENING THESE PEOPLE ARE ALL MONSTERS I CANT STOP SCREAMING

3. MIHAWK WOOF WOOF WOFO WOFOWE OFOWFOOW FOWOFWOFOWOF WFOOFOOF WOOFOFO

4. doflamingo has a receding hair line and he is covering it up by pulling his hair to the front like fringes.

5. you know, luffy is doing all this without a crew, without his crew. even though he's got all his other allies, they're not like his people. also, mihawk is incredibly scary, him swinging around that greatsword. i cannot wait until zoro and hawkeye meet again and stand face to face

6. i wonder how ace must feel, not being able to do anything, watching his friends and family get thrown around, get killed, get hurt, while bound with sea prism stone. it must be horrible and so helpless

7. an army of pacifistas - these are really, really scary. they also somehow remind me of dragonball. they dont have to send warships for the buster calls anymore tbh, they can just send these kumas

8. i am DEAD that they can't procede with their plan because buggy stole a video snail transponder and they're fucking around with it. that's peak comedy. buggy is such a character

9. WHY DID SQUARD BETRAY WHITEBEARD HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Earth shakes as the war kicks off. Sky blackens with falling fire - thanks Akainu - the tidal waves roar as they almost swallow the entire island underneath (and if it weren't for Aokiji, they might have gone and drowned the guy they'd come to save!), and hosts of freedom-seeking pirates charge across the ice into battle, accentuated by the roar of cannons. It's the biggest event in One Piece. Perhaps the biggest in shonen, period, at least for its time.

It really gets across just how tiny and insignificant the main character truly is. This sort of a thing is not often seen in the genre. Luffy had racked up some impressive victories up until now, and then the crew got scattered and now he's in way over his head, and odds are he'll die without accomplishing anything of significance. Look at the way Mihawk cut up that iceberg! Another decade-plus after this and I'm not sure Zoro could pull off the same even now! It's like if Kid Goku, fresh from his second place in the martial arts tournament, had taken on Frieza. It all gets pretty crazy.

Thanks for the comic relief, Buggy. We really need it right now.

I reread this volume all the time. Paramount War is possibly my favorite part of One Piece thus far. Very affecting, and excellent action sequences with ridiculous superpowers abounding.

and just like that, war has begun. it's kinda crazy to see how small luffy is compared to titans like whitebeard, the navy admirals and the seven warlords. he might've grown a lot and, yes, he's made a new for himself but among these big names, he's just an ant. however, no one is gonna stop this stubborn ant. this arc is gonna break me :')

Paramount War continues to be a constant cool action, and astonishing battle.
I loved the display of Luffy's true power: making allies along the way.
"It’s not a Devil Fruit or some cheap trick… One by one, he turns the people around him into his allies. More than anyone else sailing the seas... That man possesses the most terrifying power."

in one chapter, all of ace and whitebeard's history together was shown to us. honestly, this might have just made me sadder. and his friends and the whitebeard crew just wanting to save him omg.

boa hancock is helping the pirates.

oars couldn't reach ace. ):

”I have no pity for villains…but family is different.”

garp is gonna lose a grandson

hehe luffy and the rest on the ship has arrived! and luffy decided to compete with whitebeard to see who can save ace. <3

”Go home, Luffy! Why didi you come?!” Please, Luffy… i don't want to drag you down with me… This is my mess…
”I am your little brother!!”

everyone now knows that luffy is dragon's son.

Luffy: I don't care what you say. I'm going to save you even if it kills me!
Whitebeard: Marco, i won't forgive you if you let that boy die.
Marco: Roger that.

ivankov heard from doflamingo that kuma is now dead. kuma volunteered himself to become a “weaponised human” and was modified.

boa hancock conveniently have ace's handcuff keys???HAHHAA she was flustered and blushing when luffy hugged her in gratitude.

Volume 57: Chapter 552-562
Saga 6: Summit War
Arc 22: Marineford

The war of Marineford, or also known as Paramount War is started!!

Edward Newgate or Whitebeard ate Gura Gura no Mi, that let him manipulate a quake. According to Sengoku, Whitebeard have an ability to destroy the worl.

After awhile, Luffy and other escapee from Impel Down join the war. The true power of Whitebeard Pirates and Marine were shown. Pacifistas were deployed to join the war.

Squard, one of Whitebeard's fleet, betrayed him by stabbing him in the chest.

Overall, this the best arc ever in One Piece. Many powerful characters were introduced. And mamy double spread pages were shown. Oda is simply the GOAT!
