For readers of Kim Stanley Robinson, Ursula Le Guin, and Vernor Vinge―a near-future political science-fiction thriller about the one threat we can't engineer our way out ourselves.

Across thirty-six years and six continents, the liberal order is dying, and seven strangers are building what comes next. A tech visionary and an engineer who thinks through his body. An intelligence analyst radicalized by a murder. A trafficking survivor who raises a criminal empire on synesthesia and the voices of the dead. A child soldier who feels human emotion like weather.

From their collisions rise rival operating systems for civilization mesh networks keyed to children's biometrics, AI churches that resurrect the dead, a regime that rewrites dissent at the neurochemical level.

As augmented reality shatters perception, one question remains―not who holds power, but whether we still share enough truth to survive.

"Dmitri Mehlhorn wants you to know, from the novel's very first pages, that the stakes are high, they're visceral, and that sooner than many anticipate, the impact of our current technological revolution will land like an elbow to the temple on our apps, our institutions, and ultimately individual cognitive liberty itself. . . . Free societies must evolve to survive the speed of autocracy without becoming autocratic themselves. Archipelago of Light showcases and dramatizes this state of affairs and tests solutions―including solutions that carry devastating moral costs. A deeply imagined and intellectually provocative vision of the world to come." ― Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, Manas AI, and Inflection AI and author of  Superagency , from the foreword

The Pumpkin Bride Book Cover

"Filled with so much autumnal coziness that it made me want to run off and become a pumpkin farmer (ideally with the help of a sexy orc), this was the perfect fall read!” —Laurie Gilmore, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Shrek meets The Princess Bride in this cozy, low-stakes romantic fantasy. The Pumpkin Bride delivers all the autumnal feels, a dash of spice, and a guaranteed HEA!

Some curses just need a cozy fire, a little magic, and a second chance to break them.

A cursed knight.

Sir Bram Duncan was once a knight of legend in Harvest Hollow—until the whim of a jealous prince and the trickery of an autumn sprite turned him into the hulking orc Jask Bone-Cracker, and tethered him to Grimroot Farm. For three long, lonely years, he’s hidden his monstrous form and the truth of what happened the night he lost everything, including his true love, Princess Marigold.

A runaway princess.
Fleeing an arranged marriage to the vain and intolerable Prince Crispin, Marigold finds a safe haven when she stumbles across Jask’s charmed pumpkin farm deep in the forest. Sensing glimmers of gentleness—and a surprising talent for baking—beneath the grumpy orc’s imposing exterior, she begins to feel a familiar longing she believed dead when her Bram disappeared.

One true love.
As magic stirs and pies are baked, truths about Jask’s curse begin to surface. But curses don’t break easily, and wronged princes don’t capitulate. As their peace is threatened, Jask and Marigold must decide: cling to the lies that protect them, or risk everything for a love that could set them free.

As the snowstorm of the century bears down on New England, reclusive author Mabel Miller is preparing to spend yet another Christmas alone with her cats. While everyone else is making merry, she’ll be avoiding the whole painful holiday. No decorations. No tree. No traces of Christmas. That is, until the weather intervenes and sends not one but two cars spinning into the stone wall surrounding her isolated cottage. Now she has a house full of strangers when the last thing she wanted was company for Christmas.

Yet Mabel’s unexpected guests—a family with two young children expecting Santa to drop gifts down the chimney, and two work colleagues who clearly have a history—are determined to make the best of the situation. As her attempts to protect her privacy are thwarted by the two little ones who are charmingly oblivious to her boundaries, soon Mabel is making cocoa and cookies for the first time in years, and allowing them into her library, a place that contains so many of her secrets.

Mabel has her reasons for keeping her truths so deeply hidden. But this Christmas, if Mabel is brave enough to share, she might finally be able to rewrite the past and find a festive happy-ever-after - for her new friends, but also herself.
