Jay Harnett’s predictable world is knocked upside down when he encounters the new school teacher, Will, in town. As their unlikely friendship blossoms, it turns to lust, love, and a whole lot more, surprising them both.
But when Will’s old flame suddenly leaps into the picture a decision must be made that will change all those involved.
Reader Advisory: This book can be read alone or in sequence as part of a series.
Set in 1886, in a world that feels foreign to most of us today, the story of Jay and Will does a good job of capturing the setting of a small-town community and the people who make a living there. The ranch is probably the part that has changed the least (cattle still needs to be managed, fences repaired), but everything else was very different. I liked reading about the way it could have been, since a lot of what the two got up to and the way they thought about themselves and male/male relationships felt a lot more ‘modern’ than what I’d thought possible almost 150 years ago.
This is for a trash, Seriously! I could add better review, but the summery is, SEX, SEX, SEX and no real plot at all. All characters were bland and there is no true emotions between them it's like reading dirty sex between guys and thats all you get.
Reviewed by Max: Candy. That's what came to mind while reading this novella. It was short, sweet at times, and nothing too serious.
Jay and Will quickly fall for each other after Will moves into town to take his post as the new school teacher. It's a case of insta love, so be warned. I'm not fond of this scenario, but in this story given the circumstances, I found it believable to a point.
If you're looking for a standard romance between the two main characters this one won't be for you. Jay has sex with other men during this story before falling for Will and this may be offputting for some.
The sex was hot and there was a lot of it. I liked the detail given about what it felt like to be closeted in this era. Whether it was realistic or not, who knows? I did feel the historical aspect was well written.
Received for an honest review: The connection between Jay and the school teacher was sweet, but I'm not a big fan of historical reads. I just didn't feel this book.
