thumbnail-IMG-0079-2-copy-2 📚 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐕𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐒 📚 Is the final full length RH romance novel in the (Sabre Security) series by J. Rose. Spoken in 'multiple perspectives. This picks up right where the previous book left off.

And so our heroine Harlow, and her heros Hunter, Leighton Enzo & Theo's story continues in this last installment. It's not a pretty read, the characters come out more battle scarred more than ever.

This was such a solid series and it just solidifies the need for me to read more by this author, this series just got better and better with each book, this was gritty enough for my dark little heart to keep me invested throughout.

A game of cat and mouse ensued as they hunted down the elusive serial killer Michael Abaddon, always one step ahead of them, finding himself allies to carry out his work. More bodies turn up. More innocents lives cut short.

And throughout Harlow is growing into a strong woman, healing and emerging from her chrysalis. She's overcome so much to get to where she is today, the glue that holds them all together.

I am so sad that this series has come to an end and I have to say goodbye to this crazy world and these characters that slowly crept into my heart.

Every book which is written by J Rose I think is the best book which she has written yet but then comes another and the writing just blows me away more and more than the last book written because this final instalment of the Sabre Security series ended these character’s journeys both together and alone in the most perfect of ways.

As mentioned in previous reviews for this series, this series made me realise how much of an emotional wreck I am and how much I am connected to these characters within this world. If you haven’t already, I recommend reading the Blackwood institute series to get background of other important characters within this series - I promise you, they will also steal your heart.

I am blown away but I am also heartbroken that this series has come to an end. Once again, this book was a masterpiece. The character building, the world building and the story line was absolutely perfect, in this instalment as well as the other two. I am in awe with Jess’ writing and she will never fail to amaze me with the power her words have over me. I am instantly transported into the world written on the pages and I take the journey alongside these character’s every time and each time a character steals a part of me because I effortlessly fall in love with them.

Through out this series, the characters are faced with difficult situations but they are written both raw and realistically with so much love and care behind them. These scenarios showcase how these situations would take place real life, showing true feelings and actions which only lead you to connect more with characters and proves just how relatable they are in many ways.

Leighton, Enzo, Theo, Hunter and Harlow deserve all of the happiness in the world. Their characters are so different from one another but they bring out the best in each other. They compliment one another in multiple ways, they were definitely made to be together as a unit.

Harlow, like many other females written by Jess is a beautiful, strong and powerful female main character. She is empowering and inspiring, she is the exact female I want to read about. She doesn’t need anyone else to raise hell for her because she will do it alone. And she definitely can.

That being said, this is the hardest review I think I’ve ever had to write. I can’t put into words how much I’m in love with this series or with this world. I can’t put into words how much I recommend this series and her others. There are characters within this series and Blackwood which I have related to on a personal level and I can’t explain my gratitude enough to both those characters themselves and to Jess for creating them. This may be the conclusion to their stories but as cheesy as it may sound - I know they will always live in my heart.

Harlow has spent the last 13 years in captivity watching 18 girls being brutally tortured and murdered by Pastor Michaels and Mrs Michaels. When she escapes, she is protected by Sabre Security and moves in with Hunter, Enzo, Leighton and Theo.

Harlow is unable to remember any part of her old life and the memories she does have of the last 13 years are a mess. It's a race against the clock to catch Pastor Michaels as he continues to kill girls at an alarming rate unless Harlow is returned to him.

Okay, this book did feel slightly slower than book 1 but it was still hugely enjoyable. The plot twist was so well done and believable!

I love Harlow's journey and I'm preferring this over the romance aspect of the book to be honest.

Enzo & Hunter are definitely my favourite boys but I am enjoy Leighton & Theo more.

“I promised you the world, Harlow,” he murmurs into my mouth. “Now I’m going to give it to you.”
“What if I don’t want the world? What if I only want you four and nothing else?”
The corner of his mouth hooks up. “You already have us, come hell or high water. This is our happy fucking forever, baby.”
I press my forehead against his.
“Fucking forever.”

So many things going wrong with this😭
Breaks my fucking heart because i actually liked the plot and the trilogy.

1) we needed to SEE MORE HUNTER. Hunter is why I finished this book and also I wanted to read how that stinky pastor Michaels actually got in

2) Theo being a submissive. I can track but lord something about him being a submissive did not sit right with me.

3)The way Leighton wasn't very supportive and was fussy about hunter's hearing loss.

4)Enzo was just.... Enzo. Your stereotypical grumpy rough hero.

5) THE BOYS HAD NO CONNECTION OUT OF HARLOW AND THIS CASE.
if you take out harlow from this dynamic, the boys are nothing.

It was a messy clusterfuck 😔

Oh some things i ACTUALLY liked.

The smut scene with Leighton, Harlow and Theo.
MY MY MY
LEIGH BOSSING AROUNG THEO WAS SO FUCKING HOT.

The smut scene with ALL the boys oh made me so happy.

Hunter.

No you don't understand how much it was just HUNTER that made me finish this

The plot ACTUALLY giving me smth at the end.
It was SO visual which I did like.

But no sadly this did not hit the way it was supposed to,
And i wholeheartedly feel sad over this.

We’re a family. That means we live and die together, no matter what.

What an epic end to an amazing series! J Rose definitely knows how to write an addictive, page turner.

Check trigger warnings because this trilogy deals with some sensitive, harrowing stuff including cults, rape, kidnap and graphic abuse.

Hollow Veins by J Rose is a dark reverse harem romance. This is the third and final book in the Sabre Security series.

I absolutely love J Rose's books! I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn’t wait to see how it was all going to end. I loved the relationship between Harlow, Leighton, Hunter, Enzo, and Theo. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait to dive into the spin off duet Briar Valley so I can see a bit more of Sabre Security.

I would highly recommend this book if you like dark romances, contemporary romances, reverse harem romances, or romantic suspense.

This was a perfect end to the series. A perfect mix of heartbreak, spice and emotions. J Rose has a way of giving you such a good in depth plot with multiple characters that grow over her books and this was just ANOTHER example of what a great writer she is.

Coming up for air.

I am in awe. This jaw dropping series comes to a close in this captivating tale and I am not yet ready to say goodbye to these amazing characters. The author delivered a real all-around book full of heartache, trauma, inspiration and passion. The hope Harlow gave both the reader and her men throughout the book was truly a wonder.

This book continues right where we left off from book two, with them jetting off for a much-needed vacation. Unfortunately, when their paradise is cut short, they are forced back to London to continue with what little leads they have for Michael Abbadon. His sadistic tendencies are getting worse and soon his cult of worshippers or Angels of the Abyss, are gearing up for war.

Hunter, Enzo, Leighton and Theo have all embraced the woman they have come to love and cherish and are more than ever willing to do anything to take Michael down to protect their Harlow. With more killings, more deceit and more traumatic memories, we are also met with passion and the hope that despite all of the ugly in the world, there is also good.

The empathy the author created in this entire series was captivating. I did not want to stop turning the pages and am in such awe of this series. I loved it all so much. J Rose did a fantastic job at creating this world and blending all of the craziness together. This series is a definite favorite of mine and I look so much to reading more from her.

In the final showdown, we are left with our eyes wide open, our jaws hanging and one of the best endings I have read in a while. I truly could not get enough of this series.

'Set the world on fire.'

"I don't have to die for them. I have to live in their memory."

"We're a family. That means we live and die together, no matter what. Our family means fuck all if we're dead."

"I think it's time the world heard from the girl who lived, rather than the monster who silenced her..."

Survival is possible.'

"Hollow Veins" is the final book in the "Sabre Security" series, and what an epic ending it is... Once I was at the end of this book I had tears in my eyes, a lump in my throat and a big smile on my face. This might not make any sense if you haven't read the book yet, but I swear it will once you're finished.

Before we reach the end, there is a lot more happening in this final book. Harlow has come a long way throughout this series, and this final book shows her as the amazing woman she is. She's brave, filled with love and compassion, and so ... damn ... strong! I truly admire the person she became, and the positive influence she has on everyone around her. While building up to an epic final, some of the scenes in this book left me with goosebumps. Even though I can hardly imagine things like this happening in real life, we know they do and it left me a little unsettled at times. I mean this in a good way; the author managed to capture human nature in an epic story with this series and I can't imagine what she will bring us next.

I absolutely recommend this series; it's one of the best dark contemporary RH series I've ever read with an amazing plot, wonderful characters and some very hot spicy scenes. I'm sad it's finished, but I'm sure I'll devour whatever this author comes up with next.

I hung around for this 3rd book in hopes it got better. But dear lord. This series DRAGGED. This felt like it could have been summed up in one book. MAYBE a duology at best.

The group was not believable. The guys had ZERO chemistry amongst themselves. Not even talking sexually. They are all just roommates who tolerate each other and work together. Even the brothers had no compassion or sympathy for each other. The spice was SLOW and a simmer in my opinion.

Theo was not a match for Harlow, she just filled a void for him which was really sad.

The concept of this series was great but the execution was poor. It needed to be trimmed down and the guys’ relationship really needed to be improved to make this a believable RH. And for the life of me I can’t fathom why an elite security agency with an eye witness couldn’t nail this guy down for over a year considering all the bodies he left behind.

Hollow Veins by J Rose ☆☆☆☆☆

'𝐒𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧— 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜, 𝐮𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞.'

Hollow Veins is the third and last book in The Sabre Security series by J Rose and as always, please check your tw's diving in.

I really don't know how to write this review as its come so full circle and what an absolute banger it was.

Hollow Veins starts right up with a prologue that actually made me feel quite sorry for someone who I've hated over the entire series, only Jess could write someone so hedonistic but actually make me feel slightly sorry for.

'𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐝, 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞.'

Harlow, I just absolutely adore her. She is everything and the way she's grown, mentally and physically, and the woman she's become. She's the glue that holds her, Theo, Enzo, Leighton and Hunter together, and I loved that although this is a dark story, there are glimpses of humour that shine through in all the characters.

Harlow and her guys are so well written and so complex but all bring something completely different to the group. Theo is one of my absolute favourite men Jess has written, and two parts made me actually sob my heart out. Hunter is going through so much, he's grieving, he's adapting, and he's beautifully learning to put his broken pieces back together. Leighton I feel is the one alongside Harlow who is trying to hold everyone together, whilst fighting his own battles, and then you have Enzo, Enzo is a clear leader, he and the other three guys would light a match and burn the world down for Harlow, and I love the little family they've created.

And the addition of Brooklyn and her guys, and the wedding, and the bit of Eli that made me cry. I can't help but just be so obsessed with these characters and worlds that J rose builds so beautifully. They are broken, they are damaged, they are beautiful.

Also just another shout out to Jess for another absolutely perfect playlist to accompany one of my favourite books of the year. She kills these every damn time.
I honestly cannot wait to see what you come up with next for this world!

Epic ending 🖤
There’s sooo many twists in this final book!
This one starts with Harlow and her harem sequestered away enjoying a break from reality…but it soon comes crashing down around them, forcing them back to the UK. And honestly Abbadon certainly brings them a lot to then have to deal with! You are so rooting for them to take him down. It he manages to continue to lurk in the shadows 😡😡
Whilst this is going on though Harlow is going through her own personal journey and I love how she deals and the strength she shows 😍
The guys also have their own personal demons to deal with and questions they’re raising about the future, at points it certainly seems like this case will tear them apart but they come out stronger 🥰🥰
Love the interconnection with Rose other series to and the friendship with Brooke 😄
There are some deep and dark moments throughout in line with this trilogy so do be mindful of CWs.
It’s so cleverly written, especially the take down, don’t get me wrong I was a bit like oh right 😐 but then realising there was still more book left and then what came it was an oh oohhhhhhhh 😲😲😲 moment! IYKYK and if not defo read it and you will 😳
This is truly a sorry of and for survivors!

So I really enjoyed the Blackwood Institute more but this was still an enjoyable series. Rather than a crazy, revenge riddled heroine we have the emotionally fragile Harlow who has been a prisoner in a literal cage for over ten years. This book finally brings a just ending for the Pastor and even an ally of his that until now has been unknown. Together with the guys Harlow rather quickly adapts to the real world but more than that she quite quickly latches on to the guys and allows them to be her everything. With a few bumps in the road they do get their HEA and I'm glad things for them all worked out but especially Hunter.

This is my review for all 3 books in this series.

I have been so nervous about starting this series because I love as in loooove Blackwood Institute. But of course I should have known there was nothing to worry about because J Rose absolutely smashed it.

I don't think anything will beat Blackwood Institute, I mean it's no. 2 on my all time favorites list and I don't see anything knocking it off the podium anytime soon.

But this was so good. I was so happy to be semi back in this world. I enjoyed seeing old characters again. More importantly I enjoyed this new world of J Rose's.

Usually in books I like the male character more than the girl, but here I loved Harlow so much. I loved seeing her grow. She went from quiet and scared to strong, resilient and brave. She was damn brave, she didn't think twice about sacrificing herself to save those she loved and I was so here for it.

I loved the guys too of course. I think Leighton was my favorite. He was so sweet and funny. I felt like each of the guys gave something to Harlow that she needed in order to grow into herself.

I'm sad this whole world is over but man have I enjoyed it.

The End 😭😭😭

This is the end of Harlow and her guys’ story. This is a story about surviving and finding yourself after years upon years of trauma. This story is not for the faint of heart. This story will break your heart before it inevitably repairs it. This is a definite must read!!

Wow. What an incredible end to this series.

My heart was racing the entire time. My anxiety went through the roof with this one. This one was by far the darkest out of the 3 but also the most hopeful and inspiring.

I'm so happy everything worked out for Harlow and her family despite all the chaos and heartache.

I thought I loved Blackstone Institute. This was amazing. It was a thriller, a romance, and spicy all wrapped up in one. I was really hoping for more cases solved by Sabre Security, especially more involving Brook and crew but both stories were wrapped up well.

There may be spoilers for previous books by Sabre Security and Blackwood Institute: The Complete Trilogy

J. Rose gave these characters the ending they deserved with this last book full of feelings, a plot that never fell since Corpse Roads to Hollow Veins, and of course: the best characters. Also, in this book we can see more than ever the amazing shared world that this author has created with the importance of the Blackwood Institute gang in Sabre Security and vice versa and the confirmation of my theory for the ending of Briar Valley. Undoubtedly J. Rose earned her place as one of my favorite authors from the first time I read her, and yet she never ceases to amaze me with her ability to tell the most heartbreaking and beautiful stories ever.

Hunter was a character I didn't like right away, but he ended up winning my heart a bit by the end of the first book, and with Hollow Veins I really appreciated his character growth - I think of the four male characters Hunter has a much more difficult path, going from being in complete control of everything to depending on his family to keep him going, not an easy thing for this grumpy man who has a hard time expressing his feelings and asking for help, and I have to say that although it broke my heart, I loved reading his vulnerable, insecure and fearful side, and how despite the difficult moments and the barrier he tried to put to not show weakness he continued to be that protector for Harlow and his family. Something completely unexpected about this character and that made me cry a lot were those scenes with Theo where they were finally able to put the past behind them!

Enzo continued to prove in this book that he's the giant with the most beautiful heart in the world! I loved the way he was ALWAYS there for Hunter while trying to break down the barrier he put up between him and his family, and the way he takes leadership. I also really liked that the author showed a more vulnerable side of Enzo with the losses and complications they experience but without the character losing the strength that characterizes him, plus, reading his tiredness and desire to continue with his dreams made me experience mixed feelings: it was beautiful, I wanted this to happen to him from the first book, but it was difficult to say goodbye to the image of the Enzo we met in Desecrated Saints.

Leigh will always have a special place in my heart because I love his playful, easy-going, flirtatious personality, and I loved watching him grow so much over these three books! from the impulsive, angry-at-the-world guy who doesn't know what to do with his freedom and feels guilty about his mistakes to a guy who's willing to take control when necessary, who can hold Hunter through the worst of times, even when he doesn't ask for it, that knows how to make Theo have the place he deserves in the family and that always gave Harlow what she needed, but more important: that he wants to take charge of his future and undo his mistakes by himself.

Theo was my favorite from the first time I read him, even before this series started, and I have to say I wasn't very happy after after he had so little involvement in the first book, BUT now I understand that it was the necessary progression of his character and I LOVED every moment of him, from reading him heartbroken over Alyssa's death and trying to stay away from his family, to the little close-ups he had with Harlow and how that helped him find himself and open his heart to the guys again, to be this nerdy, book-loving guy who is also the most reasonable, sensitive and gives all his trust and love to Harlow in the purest and most beautiful way, even though I kind of hate him for interrupting that moment in the gym. And the way in which J. Rose closed HIS plotwas the so touching.

Finally, the girl who united all these characters: Harlow's growth in the series is obvious throughout each book, but I think in this last one we really get to know the real Harlow, a strong, brave girl, who doesn't seek revenge but justice and is willing to do anything to protect her family, who knows when to show mercy without being weak and who allows herself to show her most vulnerable side to those she loves. This girl had one of the most complicated, raw and realistic paths I've ever read, and I think she got the ending she deserved from her and I'm going to miss her dearly!

All Harlow (h) ever wanted was a chance to truly live. After escaping the cage that once confined her, she’s fought fiercely for every breath of freedom. But the new life she’s clawed her way into comes with a steep price. As the country spirals into hysteria and the rapture draws near, Michael Abaddon—the man who stole everything from her—escalates his reign of terror. He’s taken her freedom, her sanity, and nearly her soul. Now, Harlow is ready to reclaim what’s hers.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

[Theo]

“People will always talk, whether you remain silent or not. The last year has proven that. I think you should seize the opportunity to take control of the narrative. Give them something real to talk about.”

“What?” He smirks at me. “It’s your life, Harlow. You should live it however the fuck you want. Don’t let Enzo or any of us stop you from doing that. We will support you, no matter what.”

It’s interesting to think about Theo and Harlow's dynamic, especially in light of Theo's lingering feelings for Alyssa. It feels like Harlow might have been more of a placeholder for Theo, who never fully moved on from his past love. The way he talked about falling for Harlow right after giving her Laura’s bone just seems off, almost as if his emotions were tangled up with his memories of Alyssa. Theo’s character was endearing in many ways—his awkwardness and love for books were charming traits. But it seems like he struggled to integrate himself into the dynamics around him. He had this sort of reserved, almost uncomfortable vibe, and while his need for personal space is understandable, it also felt like he didn’t put in the effort to make the shared relationship work as well as he could have. I was also a bit disappointed by how limited the scenes were where Harlow took the dominant role. Theo’s submissive side wasn’t explored as deeply as it could have been, and there were fewer teaching moments than expected. Harlow seemed to relish the power dynamics, which was a cool aspect of their relationship, especially since she sometimes feels powerless. But it felt like this dynamic wasn’t fully fleshed out or developed. It’s a bummer because there was potential for a richer exploration of their roles and interactions, and that’s something I think could have added a lot to the story.

[Hunter]

I’d forgotten how handsome he is when smiling from ear-to- ear. I love every version of Hunter, but this is the person who stole my heart. Pieces of him are coming back to life.

“It’s like I can taste it,” he says in wonderment. “The vibrations are running through me, but I can’t hear the sound. My other senses are piecing it together.”

It’s definitely frustrating when a significant plot point like Hunter going deaf doesn’t get the depth and support it deserves. If Hunter’s deafness was going to be a major plotline, it feels like there should have been more focus on how it affected him and how others adapted to it. Enzo was supportive, which was great, but it was disappointing to see that beyond Enzo, there was minimal effort from the rest of the group to accommodate Hunter’s new reality. It’s especially hard to watch when Harlow, despite her efforts to communicate with him through sign language, still harbors a wish that he could hear her. It makes sense that this would be challenging for her and for Hunter, but the lack of broader support and understanding from the group felt like a missed opportunity. Hunter’s struggle with his deafness and mental health could have been more deeply integrated into the storyline, showing how it affected his relationships and his place within the group. The way the group simply typed notes for communication seemed like a very surface-level attempt to address the situation. It didn’t really convey the level of care and adaptation that would be expected in such a close-knit group. It felt like Hunter’s deafness was treated as a problem to be managed rather than a part of his new reality that everyone needed to embrace and adapt to. Hunter’s feeling of being a burden and his compromise of his own values to fit in with the group only added to the sense that his character was sidelined. It’s tough to see how his identity and personality were overshadowed by his hearing impairment, especially when it seemed like there was so much more that could have been explored about how he adjusted to this major life change. Despite Hunter not being a favorite character, it’s clear that his development and the way his deafness was handled could have been much richer and more compassionate. It feels like there was potential for a deeper exploration of his experience and his place in the group, which was unfortunately missed in the narrative.

[Leighton]

Leighton has trained them all to carry elastics around when I need an intervention to stop from pulling my hair again.

Leighton really stands out as a character who brought a lot of warmth and depth to the story. His role as a source of comedic relief and his genuine joy were refreshing, especially in contrast to some of the heavier themes in the narrative. He was more than just a funny guy—he was the first person who treated Harlow as more than a victim. Leighton’s approach to Harlow was really special. He saw her as a whole person with attributes and strengths beyond her past trauma. By treating her with respect and focusing on her qualities rather than her vulnerabilities, he helped her reclaim her sense of self. It was clear that he valued her not just for what she had endured but for who she was. His patience and understanding allowed their relationship to grow organically from friendship to romance, and he made sure she was comfortable and ready before initiating any physical intimacy. That gradual and respectful approach was beautiful, especially given Harlow’s history of captivity. However, the fact that Leighton didn’t make an effort to learn sign language for Hunter was a notable downside. It’s understandable that learning a new language can be challenging and time-consuming, but as Hunter’s brother, it would have been meaningful for Leighton to make more of an effort. His visible frustration with the learning process could have been hurtful to Hunter, making him feel like a burden rather than a valued part of the group. This lack of effort created a disconnect in the dynamics and highlighted a missed opportunity for deeper support and inclusion. Despite this flaw, Leighton’s character still shines brightly. His protectiveness was well-intentioned, and his desire to always be there for Harlow was genuine. He empowered her and made her feel loved and seen, which was crucial for her growth. Even with the imperfections in how he handled certain situations, Leighton’s role as a supportive friend and loving partner was a significant and positive force in Harlow’s life.

[Enzo]

“Alright,” Enzo mutters. “That’s enough flirting for my ears. Get the fuck out of here before I lock the pair of you up.”

His overprotectiveness towards Harlow, while rooted in a desire to keep her safe, often crossed the line into controlling behavior. It felt like he created an invisible prison for her, limiting her freedom and voice. Enzo’s actions, though well-intentioned, seemed to stifle Harlow’s ability to express herself and make her own decisions. For instance, when Harlow wanted to write a book about her experiences as a form of self-expression and healing, Enzo’s response was to tell her that it wasn’t the right time. This kind of reaction from a partner who should ideally support every step of her recovery felt like a significant misstep. It wasn’t just about protecting her; it was about denying her the agency to choose her path and tell her story on her own terms. His desire to keep Harlow in a bubble, where they were just together and intimate all day, might have been his way of showing love, but it wasn’t practical or realistic. Enzo’s actions sometimes felt like he was treating her like a child, dictating what she needed rather than allowing her to find her own way. It’s clear that Enzo loved Harlow deeply, but his overwhelming need to protect her ultimately became a barrier rather than a support. The way he controlled and restricted her, though perhaps driven by fear and love, didn’t allow her the freedom she needed to reclaim her life and voice. It’s good to see that Harlow pushed back against this overprotection and fought to assert her independence. Despite Enzo’s love for her, his controlling nature overshadowed his positive qualities, making his character challenging to appreciate fully. Enzo might have been more beloved if he had been less controlling and more supportive of Harlow’s need for space and self-expression.

[All]

“Will you marry all of us?” he asks.

This book was a real snooze fest. I AM SORRY. While it’s clear that the focus was meant to be on the case and capturing the person who hurt Harlow—understandable, given the stakes—it felt like the rest of the story fell flat. The characters seemed to be operating in their own little bubbles, especially while they were in Costa Rica. It was like they were all off doing their own thing, with constant arguing until they returned to London. The dynamics among the characters just didn’t mesh well. Instead of feeling like a cohesive group, it felt like they were all living together with no real connection outside of the case. The supposed harem dynamic didn’t come across as genuine; it seemed more like they were just having hookups without any meaningful relationships developing. The series had a lot of potential, but it seemed overshadowed by the plot’s overpowering focus. There wasn’t enough attention given to the chemistry and development of the relationships between the characters.

─── ・ 。゚☆: OVERALL*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

The shift towards focusing heavily on Michael, family dynamics, and religious themes felt like a departure from what made the earlier books enjoyable. This change in focus made the third installment feel less cohesive and harder to follow, leading to a less satisfying experience for me (this is MY experience).

harlow & enzo, hunter, leighton, theo

hollow veins (sabre security #3) by @jroseauthor

I loved this, the shock, the dynamics, the foundations of a home, if you like rh READ THIS SERIES.

arriving to the suspenseful conclusion of the Abbadon saga was both shocking and satisfying, may he absolutely rot in hell! the twists, the turns, the developments, the setbacks that punctuate the plot altogether invite the reader to stay put and keep reading. pair that with the character dynamics and I am HOOKED.

having said that, the romance loses some of its tension to create secure and trusting dynamics within the harem. Harlow and her guys confide and comfort each other throughout the novel. the days of drama are past them, no concerns of a third act breakup here, no wayy

these characters have grown and changed so muchhh, it makes me feel such pride for them. hunter's growth in confidence? amazing. harlow's security in her identity? incredible. and special shout-out to brooklyn, my baby has come so far

this felt like a homecoming to this harem and to this world. I absolutely adore the characters J Rose creates, the nuances of each character, their pain and joy is hard-fought and earned. and so, it is such a treat to return to not only the sabre security family but also see the developments and life moments of the blackwood institute family. seeing how they interact and create a bigger extended family is so unique, and, honestly, a pleasure. therefore, I highly highly recommend you read blackwood institute before this series.

- reverse harem (x4)
- criminal investigation setting
- healing from trauma
- found family
- hurt/comfort
- complicated relationships
- twisty plot, a serial killer case unfolding
- final book in a trilogy

4.5 out of 5

I really wanted to love this but I couldn’t. It took me nearly a month to read. I loved the first book and majority of the second book but I felt like I was trying to slog through quicksand reading this. I never really got the full story I was looking for from their family.

I’m glad Harlow got her happily ever after (finally) and that is literally all I can say about this book.

I’ll probably still go on to read the Blackwood Institute series because the premise sounds very good and I liked the glimpses of their characters we got in this trilogy.

Also the spice rating is based on the volume of spicy scenes rather than the content. When it’s spicy, it is SPICY but there just isn’t a lot and for a girl who simply can’t not have smut it was hard going.

This one was simply too long. It dragged and dragged, even the last one was borderline too much. This one just wasn’t it. The little action definitely did not make up for the boredom and the creativity definitely left like the fun parts were all so predictable and that ending was very unsatisfying. What a horrible way to end a sertis.

J Rose is another one of those authors that can do no wrong in my book. After reading the Blackwood Institute trilogy, I wanted to dive into Sabre Security BUT I waited until “Hollow Veins” was out so I could binge the whole trilogy together. If not, I would have broken down crying for book 3… and no one wants that 😂

“Hollow Veins” was the seriously epic conclusion to the Sabre Security story. Harlow and her men really went through the wringer with books 1 and 2, and it didn’t always seem like there would be light at the end of the tunnel throughout book 3, with more twists and turns and jaw dropping moments… but book 3? It was a bloody race to the finish but this bunch finally get their happy ending! I honestly wasn’t ready to say goodbye to them but I couldn’t wait to see how Harlow, Theo, Leighton, Hunter and Enzo survived through every card they were dealt on their road to finding the crazy serial-cult killer/leader that has haunted them for years and years.

When we’re reunited with the dream team, we have gotten an inside look to the infamous Father Michaels — and yeah he’s the monster under our beds. He has an intense cult following and will stand at nothing to complete God’s mission, even killing and killing and killing. We find out there is a puzzle piece missing and it needs to be found. And we also come face to face with how even when everything has gone wrong and they lose things that alter the course of their lives, that their dedication to each other makes them so strong they’re unstoppable. Family means everything. I wanna go into all the details but I don’t want to ruin it 😫

J Rose did a hell of a job, as always, at character development and really finding the common roads that her characters take to get to each other. Harlow escaped literal hell. She’s gone through things no one can possibly imagine. Fought harder than most people have to to stay alive with their sanity in place. But the story isn’t just about her. By the time we get to “Hollow Veins” we know her four men inside and out and how their roots tangle together. How Harlow has saved them as much as they saved her, and she saved herself. The time that Rose takes to build their relationship was, to me, the right and perfect way to do it. Nothing about their lives is easy and rushing their growth, their relationship, would have ruined their story. They’re a well oiled machine in “Hollow Veins” and one that will go to the ends of the earth for each other.

The Sabre Security trilogy was EVERYTHING. Brooklyn and her gaggle of men (Blackwood Institute) are weaved through in the entire trilogy and brings the two worlds together. You can read the Sabre Security books as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the Blackwood Institute trilogy first to really get into the world that J Rose created because Rose has this amazing ability to write these trilogies and weaving them together beautifully. But also, once you get started you will want to know EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL.

I get it now; the obsession. She’s mine. I’d kneel at her feet and watch the rise and fall of her chest all day long without stopping for air. She’s my addiction—my hedonistic, unjustifiably indulgent expense.

As much as I craved this HEA, I did not want Harlow and her men’s story to end. Throughout the course of their three books, they have gone from making mistakes to full character growth cycles. Harlow is no longer the victim but a woman who has taken control back from those who hurt her. The men have learned to live again in the face of loss, their orbit now centering around Harlow.

I have loved watching Harlow’s unveiling. She is such a fantastic character – strong when she could have been weak. While still broken in some ways, she is healing. But she is not what was done to her.

My heart absolutely ached for Hunter. A man so in need of control who has lost it to injury. He is left flailing, but Harlow keeps him grounded. It is so apparent how much love is shared between these two, and between Harlow and the others. In the face of adversity, they rise.

After two books of slow-medium burn, we are treated to some incredible spice in book three. Multiple kinks are explored, with Theo finally opening up about his needs (and giving in to his attraction to Harlow). Harlow is no longer the blushing virgin; she owns her body and her desires.

I will miss this chosen family. J Rose once again delivered an emotionally entangling tale with characters who will remain in my heart forever.

This whole series, and the interconnected Blackwood Institute series, are highly recommended! Honestly, anything written by J Rose should be embraced by lovers of dark romance with an emotional kick.

Victory Is Mine Saith the Lord

This was the perfect end to an amazing series. Granted this was a reverse harem series the heat didn't pick up into later in Book 2. This book was definitely a Suspense/Thriller with a spicy romantic subplot.

Book 1 gives us a look at the horrors Harlow faced while in captivity as she witnessed through the years 18 young women abducted, caged, beaten and raped by her father a man she soon learns is her actual uncle.

Michael Abadon was a sadistic serial k*ller who lead the masses to believe he was doing God's Work. Michael kept Harlow and her guys on edge because was always 5 steps ahead of them. Leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.

Although this is a fiction story; we can take a look back a few decades and read about such vile criminals in the past. That's what makes this trilogy so good. This story starts off Provocative, Sad, Raw and Uncomfortable.

Harlow has had a long road towards recovery. Escaping a horrible ordeal only to find herself in the presence of Sabre Security who has been following the stories of missing women for awhile and release that Harlow maybe the missing piece to their puzzle.

Hunter, Leighton, Enzo and Theo took on the roles of being Harlow's protectors and throughout this series we see how each man begin to love her as their own.

Harlow and her men went through so many trials and near death experiences only to be faced with other obstacles. With their backs against the wall, Harlow, Hunter, Leighton, Enzo and Theo never gave up and never stopped fighting until justice was served.

The best part about this series is watching Harlow transform from a broken and bruised little bird unto a fire hot Phoenix. Harlow finally got peace and closure. She found her HEA with four amazing men and reinvented herself on her journey. Harlow started in Book 1 a Victim and in Book 3 she became a Victor.

hollow veins by J Rose (final book in the Sabre Security trilogy)

this book picks up right where book 2 ends and wow what a great ending this was! ❤️‍🔥 this was not a pretty read though- it was rough and emotional because these characters get even more scarred, broken, and damaged in this book. they went through so much together and there were even more twists and turns in this one but it all came together so perfectly. I love Harlow, Enzo, Hunter, Theo, and Leighton so much. 🥰 They are all so strong. their relationship is so beautiful and the love the boys have not only for Harlow but also for each other made me happy! And the smut scenes in this one 👀 YEAH they were SOO good. Whew 🔥 and again, I have to shoutout my Blackwood institute babies 🥺 having them so involved in this series was so perfect- I will never ever get enough of them. and the big family that Harlow and her men + Brooklyn and her men have created with each other is so heartwarming and they all deserve happiness! I will always recommend J Rose books. 🧎‍♀️Her writing is so good and I genuinely am loving each and every book I read by her! I cannot wait to read the Briar Valley duet. I know it’s going to be good. but anyways, this was such a good series and I feel like each book got better and better. I shed some tears while reading the epilogue because just after all they been through, it was beautiful seeing their HEA. 🥹 pls go read this series! But i HIGHLY recommend reading Blackwood institute first. You won’t regret it. 👏🏻
