So Cecilia Rene is a fairly new author. She only has 5 books including this one. I started reading her in Sept 2021. From what I've read so far, I have loved her storylines and the characters. Her books have been well written and she put just the right amount of angst, anger, sex and love in all the right places.
I really loved Chauncey and Pippa. I read this book in several hours. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the story. I loved their personalities and their chemistry. Hell they couldn’t keep their hand and mouths for that matter off of each other. Some parts even put a tear in my eye. It had some raw emotions in some parts that really got to me. Really an overall great read. I am going to add as a favorite read for March.

Forever Her Bachelor. My fellow readers. This story was too scrumptious and very sweet. It was heart warming. It was passionate. It truly was a love story that will remind you of earlier historical romance writing. Chauncey (I just love his name by the way) and Pippa’s romantic love story took me back to Julia Quinn’s writing. Years before the Bridgerton streaming series. As I was saying. After I finished the book, I instantly thought of another author that this writer’s writing reminded me of. She’s the true legendary queen of romance and television movie romance writing. And this author was and still is, as far as I’m concerned. The one. The only. The Incomparable, Jackie Collins. May her soul rest in peace. Yes I tell you this story was that good. You had affairs, mistress’s living in the family home. Dukes who are vulgar, mean and abusive towards their wives. Children cast aside like their of no importance. Uncles of no relation making black skid marks through the family fortune. Then there are the too -hot -to -trot harlots making eyes at your man. Some being so brazen as to touch them in the most inappropriate places. Underneath it all you have friends and close family members who are there with you through the thick and thin of it all. I will say that Chauncey crying could have created a mote between the two estates, but hey that’s just another sign telling you how much this man loved his Kitten. That’s another endearing name that I found to like. There are so many wonderful and compelling scenarios surrounding love in this story. These moments will have you curling up a story about Chauncey and Pippa. Two lost souls working extremely hard to stay connected and committed to one another. Certain family members didn’t help at all to make this commitment easy for them both. You know what they say though. Yep! What goes around comes around. That could be said also for a beady eyed. Reptilian snake. Skally wag of an imitation ankle biter, chi Wawa, chicken pheasant man. And if you wondering whom I am referring to, there’s only one name. Summerset. Readers listen up. Ain’t no way that I would let a wrinkly lizard bag, get that close to me. I would have choked him by the neck like a stick tweed. Kneed him in half, and threw him out the carriage window for my dog to pickup and go play with. Oh look what someone has left for me. A New play stick. Man this stick is real heavy, but don’t worry I will find a nice hole to put him in. Cover him up with dirt and play with later on. Or better yet. Have Bessie get at him. The man wouldn’t come out of his room for what remainder of life he has left. Florentia Vaughn? Listen child. We women are not that desperate. We need to stick together as one in order for our victory to be won. I feel that the writer has nailed it with the different character creations. As I said Chauncey is a man who has the most sensitive heart, but he’s a man’s man when it comes down to business. This man loves his Pippa/ Kitten. And ladies his character showed it in so many ways. Chauncey is incredibly dedicated, loyal. He’s the most giving and loving man. He protects his women and his friends with the most aplomb that a person could be protected under. When this man loves, he loves hard. His sensual desire for Pippa was exciting and igniting. This man took Pippa six ways from Sunday and it was oh so good ladies. The very descriptive details left no stone unturned for me. I have a feeling that you will enjoy those scenes too. Pippa surly did. Readers Pippa is no simpering Lady herself. She quickly takes action for herself on many occasions. Causing Chauncey to have a number early signs of imitation heart attacks. These two main characters certainly set the flames for some great memorable entertainment. Did I tell you about the other awesome and amazing characters that the writer introduced? Bessie is my favorite. Her Colonel mentality scared every man who fought at Waterloo and other life or death wars. Heartford is my second. This man found so many ways to crawl under Chauncey’s skin, light a match and watch him explode. Read the book to see how their relationship ends. Edwards is my next favorite. His character is described as a black man whose friendship is very important to Chauncey and so many other friends in the book. He comes across as a very wise man with a timbering tone of a voice. There are other black characters added to the story that play important roles to the book. Like I said Bessie is described as a Colonel that controls and has her hand in a number of pots. Her sister is her partner who helps out at the orphanage. This story is a marvelous read that I loved. The story is fresh and exhilarating. The story focuses around young love that grows through time. There’s honor among family and friends. People trying to write the wrongs of their parents. The most important part is the love from Chauncey and Pippa. The bond that the two share is one that no evil soul could dismantle or cut. Their love will always remain un-breakable. I give this story two snaps and a, If you have ever watched the tv show Dallas? Let me tell you something. The Ewings have nothing on the Bennett’s and the Price’s. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
The story has some bite to the plot that found exciting. Making Pippas uncle pay for his ways was all the entertainment that I needed. The characters are interesting. They add much anticipation to the story. The romance is somewhat of a slow burn. I say this because the two main characters. Popp a St. Clara pined over one another for years. The book was an enjoyable read for me.
hi yes, I’ll being screaming about this book for forever now, because HOLY SHIT THIS WAS SO GOOD??? And that is coming from a girl who is not a HR person! But this was DELICIOUS. I will be going back to read the rest of the series as soon as possible, because I want more of Rene’s character work!
Let’s start off with a heroine that felt so contemporary and modern in this sort of story. She’s headstrong, an entrepreneur, knows self-defense. She was opinionated and proud and not afraid to demand what she wanted. I don’t mind a historical setting, but I need heroines that are like this to really enjoy the story. Honestly, I don’t blame Chauncey for being a simp over Pippa, because I am too! Pippa’s not totally perfect though, she’s so jaded to Chauncey and unwilling to let her walls down even in the face of his many kind actions. She’s not above using him for his body though, y’know, for science.
Speaking of, oh my god, Chauncey truly is the definition of a pining man. He was so in love with Pippa and desperate to prove that to her. However, what I adored about him was the amount of depth explored in his character. We watch as he has to breakdown the manipulations and learned misogynies from his father and really become his own person. It was so emotional and heart wrenching at times, but God was it so good. When Pippa calls him out on self-flagellating over his family members’ trauma? Oh my god, I loved it. Telling him he needs to realize he’s actually deserving of the love he wants? Perfection 🤌🏻
The pining was immaculate, the chemistry off the charts, the spice? Hot damn, four chili peppers. This truly was just so damn good. I mean, there was a decades worth of longing built up between them!
I did think things were a bit repetitive in the middle, with each of them doing a back and forth debate with themselves as they try to make this marriage of convenience work while fighting their own emotions, but at least the actual plot kept progressing, even if their mental debates went in a circle or two.
I really enjoyed this friends to star-crossed lovers, second chance love story. The plot was good and full of emotion, twists, lots of spicy love scenes and some suspense. The main characters were very endearing. I loved the strong bond between them as children and how they supported each other, both suffering from losses and loneliness in their childhood. It was heartwarming to read their youthful correspondence at the beginning of each chapter. Most secondary characters are very likable too, most of them were already introduced in the previous books of the series.
This book can be read as standalone but I wouldn’t advise it. There are many interactions with the characters from the previous books and therefore easier to understand their relationships if you read the series in order.
Chauncey Bennett, now Duke of St Clara, and Pippa Price have been best friends and soul mates since they first met and were even engaged until their scheming relatives broke them up.

After Chauncey's alleged betrayal years ago, Pippa was heartbroken at the loss of her best friend: the man she loved and who supported and encouraged her in her scientific endeavours.
To save her aunt from financial ruin at the hands of her lecherous, abusive uncle, Pippa agrees to marry the Duke of Summerset, who is known for his cruelty to women.
When Chauncey proposes to her anyway and she is attacked by her fiancé, she agrees but insists that they only have one year of real marriage and then separate for good. She doesn't trust him and has no intention of getting her heart broken again...

Right off the bat, let me tell you—if you haven’t picked up Forever Her Bachelor yet, Stop what you’re doing and grab a copy! I can’t say it loud enough: Cecilia Rene did her thang with this one. It dropped earlier this year, and I have no idea what took me so long to read it, cause baybee, a sista has been through some thangs with this one right here. Talk about a wild ride, Kanye aint got nothing on me when it comes to this emotional rollercoaster.
This story begins with the most adorable, feel-good meet-cute that’ll melt your heart on the spot! From there, the author slowly eases you into the narrative, setting up the story, and then BAM! We’re off to the races! The plot? Absolutely FANTASTIC. The scenes? Bursting with color, life and unforgettable moments. And the steam? Hot as hell. And don’t even get me started on the epistles and the epilogue. Absolute perfection. This book isn’t just good, it’s a must read!

Chauncey Bennett aka Duke of St Clara was brain washed at an early age! Hero worship can be dangerous when you love and trust anyone to the point of ignoring their faults! This was Chauncey and his father! He believed him so much he did nothing to pursue and find out why a girl he loved since he was 12 would give up on him! He was not a fighter until now Pippa Price his best friend and confidante is engaged to be married to an older evil Duke who has buried 4 wives! There are so many secrets, twists and turns I always expected someone to come for the couple but it was not who I expected at all! I think Beatrice and his sister Jessie needs a story… But I digress these two have a love for the ages if they would share secrets from the past! As thru learn to trust again their my are robbed and their staff injured then even more secrets of the truly evil man Chauncey father was and what a beautiful soul and person his mother was! But Chauncey pain is buried with his mother in the past but affecting his present with Pippa! He must let go the past and release the pain! If he doesn’t he and Pippa don’t have a chance! Can they let go? Bravo couldn’t put it down!
Extremely well written, full of love, drama, intrigue, secrets, family, villains, lies, action, sadness, friendship, abuse and twists. Does have some triggers. Chauncey grew up with his father , who told him that his mother was a whore, a low life person. As well as other women, who is he to believe. So when his father, mother and sister die, he needs to rethink and find the truth of what really happened in his life. Pippa has been his friend since they were children and as time goes on they both have feelings for the other. After he goes on tour, she is told by his father that he never really loved her and that was why he left. Hurt by this , she goes to live in London with her Aunt. Now she is engaged to another man her Uncle set up for her but all she wants is Chauncey. Add in some "highway men" and secrets and what a story you have to read. Once you start, you can't put it down. A fabulous story. Would recommend to all.

This was an extremely emotional romance. Frought with past betrayals and tragedies, life changing interference, broken engagement, suspense, misconceptions, intrigue, mystery, a dangerous encounter, violence, a shooting, and a elopement. It also spoke of physical and sexual violations, trauma, and violence towards women, which at times brought me to tears. I immensely enjoyed how a friendship loss through lies, deception, and treachery was found again and able to triumph over it all, to bloom into beautiful true love with delicious steam and ending with a very happy life. I recommend reading!
This was such a lovely second chance romance. A contemptible, manipulative father, young love torn asunder, people hurt mentally and physically. Phew!!! There's a lot going on, but Chauncey and Pippa make it through all that.
The story is well written, with the focus being on how Chauncey and Pippa rebuild what was once destroyed, a friendship, love, promises and trust. Along the way they discover passion and lots of it.
I recommend this read.

Enjoyed reading this story Chauncey Bennett, The Duke of St. Clara and Pippa Price were once friends, but due to the machinations and lies of others they are no more. Chauncey needs a wife to secure his inheritance and Pippa needs a husband to save her aunt. Running from an abusive fiancé she turns like him turns to the only other person they ever cared about - each other. Can they separate the lies of others to secure a future together.
Pippa and Chauncey grew up next door from each other in Mayfair. For six years they were everything to each other and right before he left for his grand tour, he proposed and she accepted. But when he returned, his life fell apart…
Nine years later. Nine years spent in purgatory, drowned in debauchery, and now he needs to marry before the end of the month to get his inheritance and pay off his debts. And the one woman he wants, is set to marry another. Pippa did her best to survive, but now she’s strong-armed into a marriage she does not want to a much older man. When her fiancé’s cruel nature becomes intolerable, she’s forced to turn to the one man who crushed her heart nine years earlier.
Childhood friends separated by the cruelty of others. Circumstances force them into hasty a marriage of convenience, but on the road to Gretna Green they rediscover that what once was, may still be and possibly so much more… if only they could get over that giant mountain between them.
There’s more than meets the eye. Scandal, lies, conspiracy, criminals, blackmail and abuse, but also broken hearts and a profound loneliness. There’s two strong leads, some loyal friends, several villains, a very brave cat, and the fact the MCs can’t seem to keep their hands and mouths of each other. Add an eventful road trip and a Scottish castle he hasn’t set foot in for over twenty years, and you get a beautiful setting for an intriguing and steamy story with great potential and a few flaws. He's more vulnerable than the average duke I read, and I really liked that. He’s also endearingly perseverant and unafraid to grovel when need be. She, on the other hand, can get a bit tedious. While I appreciate the war she wagers with her feelings, she spends a lot of time rehashing old cows. I would have liked a bit more depth to the villains and their deeds, and a little less repeating of what kept them apart. There were a few other minor things, but those are probably personal preference. This was my first time with this author and I liked her style and pace, so all in all, this was a very entertaining read. One you might want to discover for yourself! ⭐⭐⭐✨✨
Pippa and Chauncey are both paying a heavy price of their elders' follies and they won't have a chance for happiness unless they untangle a decade's worth of emotional blackmail. It's a delightful romp with very engaging characters. Highly recommended!
I love the continuation of this series. St. Clara and Pippa's story is lively. What a treat. Storyline was fabulous. so many twists and turns. Bravo!!!
