Tragedy left Merit as the guardian to two young kits and he’s in over his head. He needs help. He has no time for romance and doesn’t think he needs it. He applies to Celestial Mates, willing to take the first available female, even a flat-faced, ugly human.
What he gets is a woman whose mind challenges him and patience humbles him.
He brought her to his planet under false pretenses. Now he hopes he can make it right before she leaves for good.
This is a stand-alone story with a growly, sweet alpha, one stubborn human woman, a HEA, no cheating and no cliffhangers.

The heroine:Kalini - she works in finance and is tired of dating the wrong men. After a particularly bad date with a man she met online, she decides that she will try being a mail order bride with an alien male. When she is a perfect match with a man on the mining planet Corra which is over three months away, she agrees and sets about closing out her life on Earth.
The Hero:Merit - when his brother Prospect died in a mine collapse, and his brother’s wife died less than a month later, he was put in charge of their small children, Dare and Charity. His sister Amity came to the mining planet to help out but thinks that she should have been named the guardian so gives him the business about not being able to take care of the kits. So, he decided to try for a mail order bride. He is a security guard at the mines on the planet Corra.
The Story: The two main characters were attracted to each other from the start. Though they knew next to nothing about each other. It takes them quite a while to really get to know each other. They have issues from the start, with Merit working so much and Amity trying to get Kal to leave so she can have a reason to take custody of the kids.
The story is ok, nothing spectacular, but interesting and I liked part about Merit’s bloodlust. He sometimes goes into this bloodlust while hunting, similar to when he was in the military, and he turns into a killing machine where he doesn’t notice who or what he is killing. It comes in handy against the invasive creatures on the planet. He also feels the bloodlust when he wants his wife sometimes.
This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Stephen Dexter and Hollie Jackson. These are two very good narrators. Hollie has a great voice and is terrific at showing emotion through her voice. Stephen Dexter has a deep but soft voice and is one of my favorite male narrators. Both do a fantastic job with alien romance.
Have Tail, Will Travel is book 37 in the Celestial Mates/Romancing the Galaxy series by Nancey Cummings. This story can be read as a stand-alone.
This is my first time reading a book in this series and this author. From what I understand this is like a mail order bride storyline. Both parties sign up with the Celestial Dating service and then matched to a mate. Once the paperwork is signed on the women's side, they are essentially married, even though they don’t know anything about each other, but what’s on the paperwork.
I liked how this story went. We are treated to both Kalini and Merit’s POV and transported from Earth to the planet Corra.
We start with the horrible date that Kalini had and that leads her to sign up with the Celestial Mates. They hook her up with Merit and while their's interest on both sides this is a slow burn romance.
Merit is the head soldier in the corner of the world he lives and he leads hunts and more to keep the citizens safe. After a horrible accident takes the life of his brother, he becomes the guardian of his niece and nephew, which he learns is not an easy task; especially to take on alone. I like Merit. He’s a strong male and determined to keep his family safe and whole.
Kalini has been burned before, so she wants to take things slow. On top of that she leaves her life on Earth to live with an unknown man on a far-out dangerous planet where she’s the only human. I liked Kal. She's strong and easily adapted to this new life even with the harsh words and judgment from Merits sister.
I really liked that this storyline isn’t insta-love. They acutely have to talk and figure things out. Their where misunderstandings, things held back, but in the end they worked it out. I enjoyed their relationship and how it develops. The other thing I really enjoyed in this story where the kids. They are adorable and how Merit interacts with them is so sweet.
Have Tail, Will Travel was a wonderfully sweet and fun alien romance.
A human heroine looking for something more, a alien hero who needs help taking care of his young nice and nephew decide to use a celestial dating service to find a mate, and find themselves matched.
Dual POV helps the story move along. Overall a easy and light one time read. It didn't have me ensnared but it was easy and fluffy.
I liked this story. No insta-love. You can actually see the character development and steady progression of the plot. Sweet and protective alien hero. Down to earth human heroine. Futuristic off planet. I especially love that the author included a East Indian heroine. Not that it would have stopped me from picking up this book, It’s just that it’s a rare find. This is the first alien romance novel I came across that has a non-w and non-b human protagonist. I feel like I found a needle in a haystack.
Loved it! Super cute, and I wouldn't mind a little tail from Merit **Grins**
I really loved how this book opened up with Kal and her horrible disaster of a date that led her to signing up for Celestial Mates. And when she finally meets Merit? Awwww! He's adorable with the kids, and boy, to have the patience to deal with lice...he's a keeper! Haha! I really enjoyed their relationship and really wished there had been more of them together together. Sparks flew between those two. Of course there were misunderstandings, things held back that shouldn't have been, but they worked through it.
Totally recommend this book if you're looking for a frisky feline hero, and something on the sweet side. Nancey always delivers a sweet happily ever after.
This was a wonderful sweet and fun alien read. An excellent addition to the Celestial Mates series. Told in both the hero ans heroines POV readers are transported from Earth to the planet Corra, a desolate lowly populated planet inhabited by evil ‘flesh’ eating spider bird beings. The hero Merit is basically the head soldier in their corner of the world as he leads hunts and more to keep the citizens safe. After a horrible accident takes the life of his brother, Merit becomes the guardian of his niece and nephew, which he learns early on is not an easy task especially to take on alone. Celestial Mates hooks these two up and while the interest is there on both sides this is surely a slow burn romance. Kalini has been burned before so she wants to take things slow on top of the fact she leaves her life on Earth to live with an unknown man on a farout dangerous planet where she’s the only human (as far as we know.) I thought Kalini was a wonderful strong character who easily adapted to this new life even with the harsh criticism and judgment from Merits sister who is there’s for the first few months of their relationship. The story itself was fun and interesting nothing too deep but really engaging and not too long so perfect for an afternoon on the beach or a lazy Sunday.
First of all, that pen name is great. Second... not mad at this! This was a scifi romance with a mail order bride trope, which I am down for. I was pleasantly surprised that this had some actual world building that, while not robust, made for a more enjoyable read & satisfying conflict. Would read more
Merit joins Celestial Mates so he could find someone to help him with the day-to-day stuff he's getting buried under after suddenly becoming guardian to his brother's two children. The romance side would be nice, but he's tells himself he won't be upset if it doesn't happen. Uh-huh. Right.
Kal, on the other hand, is hoping her "perfect match" is just that. She doesn't mind that he has two children. She doesn't mind that he lives on a distant planet. She really just wants someone who wants her, the rest can be dealt with. Except...Merit has secrets and his sister is constantly poking at Kal and, while she likes the children, she wants to be more than a nanny and housekeeper.
Not going to lie, while I kind of get why Merit didn't spill all his reasons and secrets from the get-go, he put Kal in some not so great situations by not explaining things. That said, everything worked out in the end. It only took a little danger and Kal being understanding enough to not walk away to make things work.
I have mixed feelings about the premise of this book, which is that Kal decided to use a matchmaking service to find a husband and Merit decided to use it to find a nanny. His grovel was less than impressive. However, I thought they both worked through their issues well together. There were some definite editorial grammar issues in the kindle edition, which was disappointing.
Quick easy read! Didn’t carry too much emotional depth but was a fun read that was able to quench that desire to read a quick fun book. Nothing was overtly unique or different but I did enjoy the additions of the kids. A bit too insta-lovey for my tastes.
This is my 1st foray into this world , and I enjoyed it immensely !! Kal is a girl on the dating crawl, and after one too many horrible dates , she decides that she needs and Honest make in her life . And , in her mind , the only Honest makes are Not in Earth 🌎🌎. So she uses the services of the Celestial Mates website , and finds her true match . Merit is in Way over his head . He is a workaholic Uncle who has custody of his niece and nephew, and an all consuming job . Also his dear sister is trying to get him to move back " home " , which he won't do. However , he does need a nanny\ housekeeper\ bedmate........ And since he lives in a remote outpost , practically infested with humongous bugs that will kill you, there is not a lot of females to choose from !! He also would love a mate, but who is gonna want HIM ??? At any rate , he signs up for Celestial Mates, and finds the mate he has been looking for ..... But , when she finds out the truth, will she still want him ???? This book was a very good read, and I would definitely read more from this Author!!
Another high 4. Sisters a cow theres no excuse to act like that at all even though they made excuses. Loved the other CM couple in this book was super pissed at them for being less than stellar supervisors. Hmm what else. Ah the you carry my heart and also the character development was great i also live the ill love you til the kight leaves my eyes. Fucking strike me down cupid its too much lovely to bear. The kids were cute soo i love kids and babies so im all for that. Lot of nice family sorta moments. I ABOUT DIED when Kal said My baby about Clarity? Was that her name i feel like it was maybe charity? Eh anyway adorable. Live any and all mumma bear or fierce lioness protecting her cubs moments always. Also merit super hot SUUUUUPER hot. Red hot haha the red/bloodlust etc thing was awesome. And i totally wanted him to punch signund silfred whatever the i love humans dude was called. There was a decent epilogue but i mean im shotty that the sister lives their and after 5 years is still a cow. I mean pffft. Um also no i dont want a book about her at all. But i totally need one more about like them having babies and their teenage kids and im glad the whole money fraud thingo didnt take up a lot of time but im really glad it was a plot thing cause it was interesting and im even more glad it wasnt someone they knew although i kinda thought at the start with serene and amity mcbitchface were trying to get her brothers money and werent content enough with the watchtower and wanted xustody of the kids so they could get idk lifeinsurance or something similar and maybe protector protest jesus idk his name the older dead brother who had reason for a wife found out money was missing and it was going to go that route and kal would be in danger and one of the dudes like ulembar or whatever from the watchtower or something were the culprit and would lead her into the monster tunnels and thats how that would play out but im glad it didnt in some ways cause i dont like big nefarious murder schemes. Even though it wouldve ben nice to never see amoty bitch again. Seriously what a hoe. Get your own place going on about mooching off her brother only to do that exact thing. Nah not satisfied with that she shouldve had to do major grovelling major character changing like if the next book was her xhabging her personality and trying to win back her family while two dudes tried to win her that wouldve been decnt but yeah. Im bummed kal wasnt pregnant or at least had some kids sorry kits already i mean that was her whole deal to have a family and yes she was absorbed into one but they were still calling merit uncle and not dad so they defs werent considering themsleves their children so yeah it wouldve ben nice for the final scene to be a picnic in their massive extended fully done fruit trees and kitchen garden. Or something i was excited when merit was 'nesting' and their was no baby to nest for i mean jeez. Come one people they even hinted at it the first day they met about her kit and boobs etc. I need more cute offspring this series is seriously lacking which is shocking considering most of the planets or races need more people and having babies and as many as possible is like their end game. Ugh anyway loved the book lol sespite my rantings wish there was more. There is not therefore im mad and now i have no more books to read in thia series... i mean i havent read in choronological order so technically i do but ehh i read what sounded good.so at least 5 i think maybe more. And oooo that berry breakfast bedroom scene has me craving raspberries damnit. Makes me also wonder how they got fresh raspberries to a desert ish crazy planet when apparently chocolates fucking impossible but whatevs im trying not to think about the weirdness and impossibilty of that. Loved the writers work though so ill be checking her other stuff out.

Oooh poor main character! nah, stop pitying yourself girl!
First the book starts with her crappy date and we see how awful her life is, then we get how difficult his life is after his brother died making him take care of his nieces, making them choose the mate program, so far, a little boring but mostly okay.
From earth to his location it's a 3 month journey, I thought she will be in some sleep but now she is fully awake and with nothing else to do she starts to chat with him, they chat and play games for 3MONTHS! but we see those conversations/games? NO!
And when she finally arrives we get to see how bitchy is her sister in law, but supposedly he didn't want a mate, just someone to help him out but by this point they have been talking for 3 MONTHS! so he is more than okay to spend time with her so when they finally meet both of them are so infatuated with each other, the thing is that the book made me thing it was more of a enemies to lovers but when they get to meet each other they already have some sort of connection making them more of a insta love than anything else.
Since the author didn't care to show us the 3 months in space, she also didn't care to explain the next weeks by only writing a few lines about their routine, boring!!!!
Now with the kids, I thought she was going to connect with them in a deeper level because she knows how it feels to lost your parents and live in a world without them but as far as i read she didn't interact a lot with them apart from the cooking and the yard scene, there wasn't much interactions.
And that's my main problem. Both spend so much time apart than together and when they are together it's just so brief, i couldn't see their chemistry or connection because most of it was off the pages or just in a few lines, not enough people!
Like her relationship with her sister in law was waaaaay more interesting than the actual plot! How she is so mean and bitchy towards her and one day she has enough and talks her down of this pettiness game, that was pretty good.
Again, between the main couple they didn't talk enough or enough spend time and the heroine feels it too, so she plan to seduce him to bring him home and eventually talk to him, they sort of talk in a way where she explains her concerns and he agrees with her telling her how much he misses her and how he plans to delegate more stuff at work but they don't finish because he is tired so she tells him that tomorrow they will talk more, well at some point he has to go because there is an emergency so when she wake ups alone her first though its feel abandoned and starts to make plans to go back to earth…excuse me what?!?! Why is that your first thought?!! this is your first “fight” and you don't wait for him to explain what exactly happened? like what if her sister had some sort of accident and he just ran to save her? and the most important part is that he kills these creatures to protect the whole town and as far as i know these creatures don't wait until the normal “9 to 5” for them to come out, they are creatures so they just go out whenever they feel like it.
So yeah, her thinking that way was just my breaking point and i had to stop reading, I needed more interactions and connections from every character, everything was dull and boring

Wow Kal might be the most annoying and rude “nice” female I’ve read in a long while. This book had potential, but fell into the trap of making the female character honestly unlikable. She’s got no backbone in some parts and is down right unpleasant in others. The worse part is she knows she’s impolite. She constantly thinks about her abrasive behavior but doesn’t do anything to change it. Also I found her to be so superficial in her interactions with others. She wins over Merit’s niece and nephew with chocolate… it just felt forced. There was no push back at all or even bonding. It was just sugar them up!
Now without Kal, Merit is almost likable, but as soon as she’s in the picture- he turns into a ridiculously possessive male. In one scene he is annoyed by all the other males giving her attention, then talks about one not fawning over her and how that’s not right either. Dude you can’t have it both ways! When the male admits he’s surprised Merit ended up with Kal (and frankly so am I because Lord she’s horrible) Merit asks him why he is shocked. The answer is “she seems fancy and not really your type”. This leads ridiculous male to NEARLY STRANGLE THE OTHER MALE! It’s such an over reaction that I nearly lost my eyes as they rolled.
Kal, at this point, finds this over aggressive attitude “really hot”. Which she tells Merit. That’s when I knew this girl was not gonna to be worth the price of the book. I really did have high hopes and I think the writer has a great voice- but these characters… no. I’m going to try the next book in the series because I bought it as an anthology (books 1-3) so maybe this one was just a dud because of Kal and Merit not really working. The funny thing is- I liked the other characters, just not the main ones…
Kalani has no reason to stay on earth since her last attempt at dating blew up in her face. She decides to put an application in with Celestial Mates to be matched with an alien. She is matched with Merit who has his niece and nephew. He is looking more for a nanny and housekeeper but once he sees Kalani he is attracted to her and wants a full marriage. They need to get to know one another. Kalani has some troubles adjusting as his sister is living with him for the time being and she is always putting Kalani down. She wants custody of the kits. Merit also has not explained about his job as a hunter. He is afraid to let her see his bloodlust when he does his job. When she sees it, will she stay? Will she be afraid?
I enjoyed this story. I liked Kalani. She makes a decision about her life, and she does what is necessary to improve her life. While she is at it, she improves Merit's life and home as well as the kits. I liked Merit also. He does not tell her everything because he is afraid she will leave him if she knows or sees, and he has lost his heart to her. Kalani is honest as she admits she has second thoughts but once Merit gives her explanations, she is okay with him. She loves openly and honestly. The kits are a handful, but she is up to the job of handling them. She is also the only one who can handle Merit during his bloodlust. She is strong.
I enjoyed the story. The world building is good. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Great alien-human story. Kalini has had enough of trying to find a man on her own and decides to let an expert do it for her. With no ties on Earth, she signs up with Celetrial Mates and hopes they can really find her perfect mate, wherever he is in the galaxy. Merit is a bachelor who has gotten the guardianship of his niece and nephew. He needs a female to help him out and, though he doesn't plan on loving her, he hopes for a sexual relationship.
Kalini's first impression of her new home planet and family is not the best. Her sister-in-law picks up up, and to say the female is antagonistic is being kind. They are also forced to travel in a vehicle with no windshield and the roads are unpaved and dusty. So much for dressing up to meet her new mate. Merit is surprised to find that he likes the appearance and manners of his new mate, now all he has to do is convince her to stay.
I am not going to spoil the story for you. Suffice it to say that things will not go smoothly. The dusty roads are the least of the planet's problems, and Kalini will be challenged to break through her new mate's protective shell and find the real male. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This could have easily gone over into 4 stars but while the interaction between the H/h was fine the overall story conflict was a bit weak. Kalini lives on Earth and wants to start a meaningful relationship and settle down but keeps meeting one creep after another. Taking her chances she goes with a matchmaking site. I liked how the service incorporated other species as a norm. No forced marriages in repayment for services rendered. She gets matched to Merit from a totally remote world with a harsh environment. I also liked how the planet operated and the danger to the inhabitants seemed plausible. Merit lost his brother and became ward to his young niece and nephew. He's overwhelmed and unsure how to handle the job and kids together. His sister also wants to raise the children and thwarts the relationship between Merit and Kalini as much as possible. I liked all of the above very much. The part that didn't work for me that well was the interaction between the H/h. They both seem to want the relationship to work but Merit pulls back for what I thought was a silly reason. After all, he applied for a mate and lucked out. The conflict seemed too manufactured. Overall I still liked the story and the world building by this author.
What was that?! How did it get so much positive feedback?! Did I read the same book as everyone else?
It started well. We got to know Kalini and she was easy to like but that is all positive I can say about this book.
There was no spark between the main characters. None at all. They kissed the first night and even tho I wanted to believe the heroine that it was delicious kiss... Man it was not. It did not make me feel anything.
There was no relationship building between anyone. Not the heroine with hero and not heroine and the kids. They just fell into good relationship and that was it. No questions. Kids having no problems with her, vica versa. I am not saying I wanted them to have problems but some gentle relationship building between kids and their new mum... Yeah. It was missing. It was super lacking. Just like the relationship building between Merit and Kalini.
It wasn't the worst book. But it was bad. I'm sorry. It lacked depth. I don't need super good world building to be happy, but even that was lacking. Rly. I just can't get over how plain it was. It did not make me feel a thing and I'm usually pretty easy to impress. But this is just big fat NO. I feel betrayed by all these good reviews. I even regret buying the book.
Kettejük összecsiszolódásáról szól a könyv, eléggé instant vonzalom jellegű. A pasi lánytestvére az, aki néha bekavar, mert szeretné ő megkaparintani a gyerekek felügyeletét, gyámáság.
🚀Does Merit merit a lovable human mate with a pleasing figure and a head for figures?!😶 October 5, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition Nice story of a romance that brings two strangers and species together 🚀across a🌌 galaxy. Human Kalini is tired of trying to find a life partner on Earth. Merit is a feline alien who lives on a sparsely populated planet with limited dating prospects and his new wards, a young niece and nephew who require more attention and care than he can spare. I really liked Kalini, an intelligent woman ready to cut her losses and start anew in a totally foreign environment. Merit has some issues that make their relationship a real challenge.
💕🔥👾There's danger from a lethal and fast developing planet species, ❤ romance, lots of 🔥steamy encounters, some good natured ribbing and two orphan kids/kits needing love and reassurance who raise the touching factor, plus a brusque and perpetually angry sister/aunt. Interesting world building and a good story, complete with Coronation Chicken!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is an enjoyable story set in the Celestial Mates world. Kalini is a human looking for a mate that also wants a match. Merit, who has custody of his niece and nephew wants a mate and helper with his home and the kits/kids. There is also Merit's sister, Amity who came to help with the kits but will be going back to her home in another area of the planet. Merit has many responsibilities and is away from home for too many hours, even days at times but he has a secret that he has not informed Kalini about. Kalini learns a lot about the daily care of the kits and how to prepare decent meals for the little family but lacks attention from her mate, Merit really wants his tail pulled, but doesn't want to push Kalini if she isn't ready for that intimacy. There are other species in the community, one that I enjoyed was the big blue Sigald that really seems to like humans and Kalini in particular lol. There is a little danger from some spider-like killers and Merit's sister Amity is hard to even like as she pushes Kalini to go back to earth. In the end most problems are taken care of and we get our HEA.
I found this book discounted on Amazon via Bookbub; this is my honest review. -The title threw me off because Kalini has no tail and she's the one travelling. So I'm really not sure what it means. Nothing referred to it specifically in the story (other than what I said above). -It's a fun read, full of adventure, suspense, mystery, passion, and love. It also includes great secondary characters, except for Serene and Amity... -The editing needs a serious pass. A few examples: "until the all targets", despite/desperate, bean/beam, "Clarity already was already bleeding", "Kal shook folded the umbrella and shook it out". -I can understand Merit having his sister Amity live with him for a while but she should have left right after Kal arrived: to give them privacy and time to adjust with each other and the kids too. -Then Amity comes back; they invite her in until she finds a place for herself. The epilogue is after 5 years and she's still there and still the worst sister in law ever. Why would they keep her? I'm not interested in her love story and I hope she doesn't get poor Birn and Ulmer.
emotional hopeful lighthearted medium-paced Plot- or character-driven? Character Strong character development? Yes Loveable characters? Yes Diverse cast of characters? No Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes 4.0
audiobook (Audible) - a wonderful lighthearted alien/human romance novel. The mc's sign up for a match-making site that pairs them together. Accepting the match legally marries the two together causing the mfc to leave Earth and travel for 3 month to the mmc's home. Meeting the family his sister, niece and nephew who have been staying with him since his brother and sister-in-law passed months ago. The couple struggles with the over-imposing older sister and the heavy demands of the mmc's work schedule while he tries to work through his past and the ongoing effects that plague his life. The character building is great, like most romance novels communication seems to be an issue that also plagues this couple. MMC has issues being open and forthcoming with his fears and mfc doesn't discuss issues and allows herself to be distracted by physical desires instead of forcing conversations to resolve her growing concerns, needs, and issues.
First time reading this author's work and sad to say money not well spent. I purchased it after enjoying the sample. Started out promising and towards the middle, had to start skimming. First off, really Merit, Prospect, Reason,Dare, Clarity, Amity are actual character names. It's briefly explained that the names are choosen a certain way and pronouced incorrectly due alien translation, and at no point actually explains the correct pronunciation, honestly, this is an alien race so...yeah, was expecting some made up name, language, etc. Then Kal was honestly just so weak as a character. Her passive "patient" personality was unbearable. It was meant to be what brings Merit down a notch but I just got annoyed that she kept letting her sister in law disrespect her over and over. She tries to put her foot down, but even that was weak. Merit's "alpha " behavior wasn't convincing. Making Kal so passive was a poor decision I think. It made me not like her, and when you don't like the heroine then it's reallllly hard to like the story. Just wasn't it for me.
Was going to be a 3.5*, but a few things dropped it to a 2-2.5* for me.
-Kal is not a girls girl. She encounters her date's wife and just.... plays it off for him. Girl, no. -Mis/non-communication trope. Kal was just going to swan off the planet for the dumbest reason. At no point did she take a moment to comprehend what his job entailed, just got pissy about it. -THE TERM MUFF. Absolutely not. -Amity seems to start with an interesting, protagonist storyline, but it just fizzles out and goes nowhere. -Kal kinda has a female friend on the planet, but seems not to know a single thing about her. She shows up, after Kal is told that a doctor is on their way, and assumes her friend is a nurse. She is not, she is a doctor. WTF. Again, Kal is not a girls girl. -What happened with all the accounting errors?! It was brought up mid-way through, seemed to be shaping up into a nice mystery side story. Then... absolutely nothing happens with it. Same as with the windscreens which shouldn't break, and do with regularity.

The book is easy reading but for some reason i was constantly reminded that it is very much like a typical romance even though it's supposed to be sci-fi. I just didn't find the story to be different enough to be an interesting sci-fi. You could substitute a human man for Merit🐺🍆🌋🔪 and it wouldn't make any difference in the book. I am disappointed.
