Frozen Hearts #4

On the Line

Rate this book
My marriage wasn’t perfect, but my husband’s unexpected death yanks away my sense of security and leaves me floundering.

Enter Jameson Flynn, former NHL star and my late husband’s sports agent, who’s back in my life as the executor of the will. Things between us are as contentious as when we worked together five years ago, except now we’re working together to navigate all of the secrets and deceptions my husband left behind.

I remember Jameson as arrogant, condescending, and heartless. And yet, he repeatedly shows up for me and my daughters – helping me pick up the broken pieces and put my life back together.

Now I’m seeing a side of him he only reveals to people he truly cares about. He’s protective in a way I didn’t know I’d like, caring in a way I didn’t know he was capable of, and still sexy as hell.

The problem is, he broke my heart a long time ago. But the closer I get to Jameson, the more I see that the only thing easier than hating him might actually be loving him.

Julia grew up on the warm and sunny West Coast, but her first decision as an adult was to trade her flip-flops for snow boots and move to Boston.

She’s been enjoying everything that New England has to offer for over two decades, and now that she’s acclimated to the snowy winters and finally found all the places to get good sushi and tacos, she has zero regrets.

You can usually find her in front of her computer, but when she stops writing she’s most likely to be found outdoors, preferably with a pair of skis or snowshoes strapped to her feet in winter, or on a paddleboard in the summer.

I loved Lauren's story of strength and Jameson was just perfection. Connors handled the conflict very well, and it was a sweet, sad at times, touching story. Also, supreme spice. :) Don't miss that bonus epilogue for more goodies!

2.75 - 3 🌟

This is my first time reading a Julia Connors book.
What I liked in it is her writing, very descriptive, very engaging and well written.
However, 20% in and the MCs have barely had an interaction.
They have history and up until now we're still slowly being introduced to their history which at this point is mentioned repeatedly but still vaguely. It's more about how Lauren is coping with her husband's death not only emotionally but legally as well with all the paperwork that comes after someone's death.
It's very slow.

As much as I love Jameson right now, his patience, his doting, his friendship, his longing.. but I cannot respect the fact that 5 years ago he told her he was not ready for a relationship and practically shoved her into another man's arms. So now that he suddenly IS prepared to be in a serious relationship, the stars have aligned, her husband is dead and he's ready to pick up where they left a long time ago! What if her husband didn't die? Would he be pining for a married woman? Or forever regret the woman who got away? Was she that important then or is it because she's available now that he suddenly wants to settle?

As I said, not convinced.

And then we get to know why he didn't do relationships and for me it's not enough reason for him to decide on his own that it's not the right time for them. He could've been honest with her, bring her up to speed with everything that went down in his life so she could decide on her own whether she wanted to man the ship alongside him or call quits.

It drives me nuts when women suddenly find this unequivocal assumption that they can take on a violent man and get mad at their partners when they step in to defend them. I mean yeah yeah we're feminists and independent and tough as nails when it's only a "verbal confrontation" but NO we cannot act the same when a man is getting abusive and violent. What is your feminism going to do in a situation when you are weaker, helpless and a second away from being physically hurt. Just shut up and be thankful that someone cares about you enough to scare all the monsters away.

And then comes the third act breakup. Like girl how stupid can you get, seriously!
So, before he goes on a two day trip he discovers that the MFCs late husband was cheating on her, he tries to get all the facts straight before he tells her what he discovered. He comes back straight to a charity event where she is over her head since she is in charge of it. And just as the event is wrapping up, somebody tells her about her cheating husband and she gets mad at the MMC for not IMMEDIATELY telling her when he heard about it. Woman!!! He was on his way to a business trip, do you really want to have this conversation on the phone!!! Or maybe before the charity event that you worked your ass off to pull off to prove yourself as an "independent badass woman". He was considerate enough to gather as much information as possible before presenting them to you IN PERSON, and after your FIRST successful event! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Love this quote:
I tighten my arm around her shoulders and kiss the top of
her head. "If I can't love you at your worst, I don't deserve
you at your best."

She has two adorable twins under two years and I would have liked more interaction or appearance by them but we got like 4 sentences in total throughout the whole book.

All in all despite my ranting, the book wasn't bad but I didn’t relate to how their relationship developed. It's an OK book but that's it.

Julia is the only one who can make me like a second chance trope and the proof is in every book in this series 🫶🏻

This story captivated me from beginning to end, from the third book we knew that this would be Lauren's book but we didn't know who her love interest would be until we found out that it would be Jameson who is a sports agent (former hockey player) and more surprised I couldn't be there, from chapter one we know which way Lauren's marriage takes but as you read you realize that almost everything she believed was a lie but Jameson helps make all that bearable even when he doesn't want because of his past history with her; Here I tell you that I madly love with the dynamic of these two, yes, I missed more interactions (scenes) of him with the girls but that was just me. Jameson is the perfect book boyfriend / husband, protective and determined, and I feel that these two are soul mates. I love the new groups that were formed and that Lauren got everything she ever wanted surrounded by all the people she loves and that epilogue? ✨PERFECTION✨

This book is a perfect end to this series, for these four friends who found love again and had their happy endings. What's good? This book gives us the opening for Julia's new series and I can't wait to read it 💖

🫂thank you to the author for gave me this arc in exchange for my honest review 📚!!

_____________________

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

Julia Connors is quickly becoming an auto buy author for me! Being a queen of second chance trope, of course she would be because it’s one of my fave tropes!

On The Line follows Lauren who after a tragic loss, needs to move on as a single mum but when secrets and lies come out she realises she doesnt even know the man she married and her life implodes.

Offering to help her through the mess, is Jameson, former NHL player turned agent and her crush from 5 years ago who left her broken hearted.

Wanting nothing to do with Jameson at first, Lauren finds his kindness and generousity perplexing especially given that they havent seen each other for those 5 years and the last time they saw each didn’t leave on good terms.

As Lauren finds out secret after secret she leans on her girl group and to her own surprise Jameson. Helping her slowly put the broken pieces of her life back together, Jameson knows he has to show Lauren that he is there for her in every way, will be waiting for her when she is ready and won’t be going anywhere this time.

This was so beautiful. Second chance romance especially after a loss is cryptonite for me. I think it’s the whole ‘starting over for happiness’ part that gets me. 🥹

Without giving too much away, Jameson is EVERYTHING! He goes down as a fave sports romance book boyfriend in my eyes. He was a gorgeous cinnamon roll for Lauren and absolutely swoony with how he took care of her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 stars!

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On the Line, by Julia Connors, is not only a great hockey (adjacent) romance, it is also a book I got the pleasure to alpha read.

My marriage wasn’t perfect, but my husband’s unexpected death yanks away my sense of security and leaves me floundering.
Enter Jameson Flynn, former NHL star and my late husband’s sports agent, who’s back in my life as the executor of the will. Things between us are as contentious as when we worked together 5 years ago, except now we’re working together to navigate the secrets and deceptions my husband left behind.
I remember Jameson as arrogant, condescending, and heartless. Yet, he repeatedly shows up for me & my daughters – helping me pick up the pieces @ put my life back together.

This book has all the romance and spice you want, but it also has relatable characters with depth. The layers and strength in each of them is nearly unmatched. The story was thought through with care and attention to detail. I could go on and on about how much I love every aspect that you’d just have to walk away from me as I follow you still talking 😂.

This book was a work of love, sweat, and tears.
Well more scrap, 3+way brainstorm, and meet deadlines.
(Shout out to my co-alpha @chapters.and.charcuterie )
I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!
The group messages, idea bouncing, Google docs, VMs, car talks…sorry @juliaconnorsauthor …, reading, editing, writing, and having my hockey knowledge put to use!
WOW will this book forever hold a piece of me.
Thank you Julia Connors THANK YOU!

✨ARC Review✨ On the Line is book 4 in the Frozen Hearts series and features Lauren and Jameson, the one she thought didn’t want her. Lauren experiences the unimaginable loss of her husband, but as new information emerges, she realizes her husband and her marriage were not as it seems.

Lauren’s marriage hasn’t been the greatest. With a husband who travels and twin toddler girls, Lauren’s feeling burnt out and under appreciated. Gone is the fiery woman who held her own in sports management. When she sees a former coworker, Jameson at her husband’s funeral, memories surface and what if’s come into play. As Lauren unravels her husband's life, she finds that he has purchased a house outside Boston, the city where they met and where she worked before their whirlwind courtship and marriage. Could this be Josh's way of showing her he was listening? Lauren decides there is only one way to know and decides, it's time to go home.

Jameson has never pictured himself part of a couple or family man. Raising his two younger sisters, being a silent partner to their family construction firm, and running his own sports management company, he hasn't made time for anything else. Lauren was always the one who got away, but it was easier when she was in Utah. Now she's back, she's widowed, and he realizes neither of them knew Josh at all.

As Jameson and Lauren spend time together more and more, the attraction that was year all those years ago re-ignites. Jameson is picturing the future he never thought possible and Lauren is wondering if she can get her HEA. With family and friends in town and throughout New England, Lauren and Jameson get the support and stability they've been searching for.

If you love second chance romance, the setting of Boston, and Jameson's swoon worthy acts of service, On the Line needs to be on your TBR! I am a sucker for acts of service, especially around houses, so this was the perfect read for me! Thank you to Julia Connors for the ARC!

WE ARE NOT WORTHY OF THIS BOOK JULIA!!! I’m not gonna lie, I originally wanted this to be a marriage in crisis but Soooo glad it’s not. Josh was legit the worst and needed to gooooo lol. Like is it a bad thing to be glad a character was killed off?? 🤣 But gosh, Lauren was the most relatable character. I don’t think I’ve ever resonated with a Chapter 1 more than I did with this book and Lauren’s thoughts and feelings of being a new mom/stay at home mom🥹 I legit cried when I read it the first time… her growth through the book was written so well… And Jameson (aka Jame-ee-son) where do I even begin about this PERFECT man😍 he was EVERYTHING Lauren needed and more. That man messed up his first chance and he was NOT going down without a fight this time 🫠I’m pretty sure every highlight I made was him talking about his feelings for Lauren🥹 This book was one of those books that I couldn’t put down and attempted to multi-task my life while trying to read😂 and the ending, I cried happy tears which was a first for me lol!! I’m so excited for the Boston Rebels series I need it ASAP PLEASEE✌🏼

ON THE LINE ARC REVIEW 🏒

Julia reached out and asked if I’d like to be on her influencer group and possibly receive an ARC for her latest release, I said YES and I’m so glad I did!

“𝚃𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚒𝚜 𝚗𝚘 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍 𝚒𝚗 𝚠𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍, 𝙻𝚊𝚞𝚛𝚎𝚗. 𝚃𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍 𝚑𝚊𝚜 𝚗𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚗𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚎𝚡𝚒𝚜𝚝 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚖𝚎.”

Jameson and Lauren were great MCs! Lauren’s husband unexpectedly passes and Jameson (her late husband’s sports agent) shows up making Lauren’s life even more confusing. She’s already dealing with grief and twin toddlers and when she starts learning that her hubby wasn’t who she thought he was, she’s not her sure how she’s gonna survive. Jameson is an ass and they have some history she’s not looking to deal with. But he’s at her every turn offering help in the difficult journey she’s navigating. Lauren starts to realize that he not only looks how in a suit (he rocks a nice pair of joggers 🫠) and he isn’t the jerk she thought he was.

𝙸 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚑𝚎𝚛, 𝚝𝚘 𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝚑𝚎𝚛, 𝚝𝚘 𝚘𝚠𝚗 𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚜𝚑𝚎’𝚜 𝚘𝚠𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝚖𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚢𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚜 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚗 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚒𝚝.

This book was funny and sexy and my heart went out to the heroine. Her hubby really did a number on her and I loved watching her grow from that situation. Jameson was so swoony and a little grumpy but he def had 😍 for Lauren! Now I need to go back and start this series for
The beginning andddd when I tell you I’m giddy for the next book… I’ll be fighting for that ARC!

Thank you @julia for this ARC! I loved it and can’t wait to jump into more of this world!

I found 'On the Line' to be an exceptional read that captivated me from start to finish. One aspect I particularly appreciated was the focus on mature characters in their 30s, such as Jameson and Lauren. As a mother of toddler twins, Lauren endures the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Josh, in a skiing accident. Throughout the story, Jameson, Josh's agent and the executor of his will, consistently supports and comforts her during her darkest moments. Their history as former colleagues adds an intriguing layer to their relationship, which is skillfully explored. The gradual development of their emotions and magnetic attraction is masterfully written, leading to a truly steamy and passionate encounter that left my Kindle too hot to touch 😂! Overall, 'On the Line' was a delightful book, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment featuring Drew and Audrey.

On The Line

By: Julia Connors

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I absolutely adored this book! It was my first book by Julia and it didn’t disappoint at all! This is the 4th book of the Frozen Heart Series and can be read as a standalone.

Jameson has won my heart and is the perfect book boyfriend! He literally has the heart of gold. Lauren and Jameson together is perfection. Their relationship is beautiful, spicy, steamy and full of love. I also really enjoyed the other characters who were also a big part of their story, and how supportive they are of Lauren and Jameson!

If you love second chance romances this is definitely the book for you! I was engaged the whole time and couldn’t put it down! I will be running to read the other 3 books in the Frozen Heart Series!

Heartwarming Second Chance Read

I devoured this book!!! This is one of those swoon worthy, always meant to be, reads that will suck you in from the very start, and have you falling in love with the characters.

What to expect:
•Second Chance
•Sports Romance (MMC is a former NHL player turned sports agent)
•Single Mom
•Right Person, Wrong Time

I really enjoyed watching Lauren find herself again throughout this book. She is such a strong woman and wonderful mother who has been through a lot. She’s been in a marriage that hasn’t been good for awhile, she unexpectedly lost her husband, and to the man who broke her heart 5 years ago came back into her life.

Jameson is total book husband material! I loved the way that he took things at Lauren’s pace but made sure she knew where he stood, and how he supported and made things easier for her and her girls (even when she didn’t know it was him or she needed it).

This was such a heartwarming and swoony read that delivers all the feels and such a sweet happily ever after.

Tropes: second chance, single mom, hockey romance, he falls first, friends to lovers, right person wrong time

I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of On the Line which was my very first book by Julia and I’m so happy to say I loved it! Lauren’s husband unexpectedly passed away in a skiing accident and she’s left with lots of grief & confusion as well as the responsibility of her two twin girls. Then Jameson (her husbands former agent), who Lauren has a past with, sweeps in to save the day. As time goes on, things get uncovered, and she learn’s maybe her husband wasn’t who she thought he was. And every turn Lauren takes Jameson seems to be there pick her back up again.

Second chance romance is not my fav but Julia managed to make me love it in this story! I loved Jameson, like loved him. He really was a perfect MMC. So caring & thoughtful without being overbearing. And hot 🔥 love a man who can rock a suit as well as grey sweatpants.

Laure was such a great mom and It was refreshing to watch her character grow and overcome all the shit her husband put her through. This book also has strong found family vibes which I love. The ending was so sweet ❤️

“If I can’t love you at your worst, I don’t deserve you at my best.”

I’ll definitely be picking up more of the Frozen Hearts series!! Thank you to the author for the ARC.

When I first saw that this story was going to be about Lauren, I was very confused as I didn’t want to read the synopsis to spoil anything. And then tragedy struck and then I soon realized that this was Lauren’s chance to be who she had been hiding all these years to fit into her now dead husband’s life. Then in walks Jameson, the man who crushed her years before, and he’s not the young guy he once was, he’s a man who realizes that without a doubt Lauren was the girl he let walk away and is determined to fix that wrong asap. A true romantics type of love story with of course a little spice. I could not put it down!

“She is my endgame and always has been. She is the inevitable conclusion to my story.“

O.M.G. I’m enamored with this story and the characters. Jameson and Lauren are perfection and the babies Iris and Ivy are so cute! Loved how attentive and supportive Jameson is towards Lauren during the tough time she’s going through. Lauren is grieving and confused about a couple of things she finds out about her husband. She has to deal with moving homes, raising two little girls, and finances. Lucky for her Jameson takes a lot of her plate while respecting that she needs to do things on her own and allowing her to ask for help instead of forcing it. I love this story and Jameson def became one of my top book boyfriends 🥰💗

This was one of the best second chance romances I have read! Jameson and Lauren were always meant to be together. They were the definition of the right person at the wrong time. After being apart for 5 years Jameson is back in her life and he is here to stay. I fell in love with this man from the start of the story. He is the biggest sweetheart. He loved, respected and supported Lauren from the very beginning. This man did everything he possibly could for her and always showed up and it was exactly what she needed. Lauren never had to doubt how Jameson felt about her. I loved Lauren, she is a great mom, works hard and keeps her head held high through everything that’s thrown her way. She couldn’t catch a break from the passing of her husband and everything she discovers. They didn’t let their past get in the way of their future to finally get their happily ever after together.

I knew from reading Center Ice that I’d love Jameson and Lauren, and I was correct

There were so many little conflicts in this book but I liked it

Jameson Flynn. His heart for those he loves just takes the cake. My new favorite book boyfriend. I loved this one. Lauren deserved the world and Jameson delivered. Her baby girls were adorable and I wish we got more of them. There was so much to unpack in this one and I felt like there was closure for it all. I’m excited for Audrey and Drew’s story next!

Jameson Flynn, a sports agent, and Lauren Emerson, a single mother, are the main characters of Julia Connors' second chance romance novel On The Line.

Because I know they always ends in heartbreak, I typically avoid reading novels where the heroine was previously married but her spouse passed away. The husband in this book, however, was an exception since he was a jerk.

I did, however, like how James fixed Lauren’s ideal home and was there for her at all times.

Despite the fact that the daughters were often mentioned throughout the novel, they were never discussed or brought up in conversations, almost as if they didn't exist. Also, I didn't like how James chose to say the worst thing he could have given his sister's pregnancy as the reason for breaking her heart.

Overall, I found this to be a very interesting and emotional read!

*Thank you to the author, Julia Connors, for providing me with this his e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

I absolutely loved this book! I loved Jameson Flynn right away and I enjoyed watching Lauren and Jameson reconnect. I also thought they handled Josh's death really well. I have read other books romance books where the husband has died and the wife has moved on but often I felt like the character was soul mate hopping and it gave me the ick. I didn't feel that way at all with this story.
This book is a perfect end to this series. I loved seeing these four strong women find love and get the happy endings they deserve!

I also loved the set up for the upcoming series but I appreciate that it didn't take away or distract from this story. The epilogue had my mouth on the floor!

I received an ARC for a honest review.

- second chance
- single mom
- hell falls first

On the Line is book 4 of the Frozen Hearts series. This book follows Lauren and Jameson as they find each other again. Lauren and Jameson were in the beginning stages of a relationship 5 years prior but circumstances prevented them from starting a relationship. A perfect example of right person, wrong time.

Five years later, Jameson sees his chance to have Lauren in his life and he isn't wasting it. Right from the beginning you can see that Jameson is all in. Jameson just needs to convince Lauren to take a chance on them.

I absolutely LOVE second chance romances. I felt like you could see that the growth Jameson had made since the last time Lauren was in his life. Jameson was definitely not letting this chance to be with Lauren pass him by.

While it would be helpful to read the other 3 books in the series, this book is a true standalone.

Primary Tropes/Features:Second Chance, Sports Romance (Hockey), Single parent (Mother), He falls first, Right person Wrong time, Enemies to Friends to Lovers,

Secondary Tropes/Features: MCs in their 30s-40s, Only one bed,

Micro Trope: Obsessed with her in his jersey

Safety warning/Triggers:

‘On the line’ was an enjoyable ‘Right Person Wrong Time’ romance with an easy to get lost in plot.

Lauren was a kind and empathetic heroine. She once was fierce and fiery with a temper to match her red hair but life had left her docile. Through the book she came to find herself again, gaining back her independence, strength, fearlessness. Her spark came back and with it she was able to move on and overcome the events of the book. Whilst he wasn’t the reason she was able to do all of this, it didn’t hurt that she had Jameson with her who was a source of support and comfort when she needed it and who provided her with the love that she had been missing. Initially in the present day Lauren held onto the Jameson she once knew. Her arrogant, competitive, and self-absorbed work enemy and whilst there was an element of truth to these descriptors, after all he was driven, competitive, and demanding of himself above all others that wasn’t all he was. He kept sides to himself hidden away, but being back in her presence and being haunted by the almost something that they were he couldn’t keep it hidden any longer and we saw the deeply caring, supportive, and intense romantic side to him. I really enjoyed their story because they were both likeable characters who I enjoyed learning more about as I progressed through the book and I was rooting for them both.

In the past they had that kind of love to hate relationship where the trading of quick witted barbs and sometimes banter became a love language and one of Jameson’s favourite things was seeing her riled up and angry because of him. But when it came to their past we were largely given hints about how they almost were more than enemies but didn’t get the full details for a while. In the present day she was special to him and the thought of seeing her again was enough to make him sick. Afterall he spent five years coveting her and intentionally doing what he could to avoid her or hearing about her to spare himself the pain.

When they were back in one another's lives their story became a slightly addicting tale of visceral feelings that never went away but the good had to be sorted from the bad which was made challenging by lingering hurt and increasing desire. Lauren and Jameson each had their own share of hesitancy but the chemistry and tension was too good to ignore and the joy and contentment they got from finally being in a position where they could touch like they'd always wanted to was far too perfect. I enjoyed the skirting around one another phase of their romance development, the back and forth of getting close then putting distance between themselves, and the quiet moments of intense flirting and possessiveness. Their romance development was fun to read and well written and paced.

In addition to Lauren and Jameson there were a few side characters who stood out. Lauren’s children were adorable. I couldn’t get enough of Jameson’s meddling and teasing sisters, Jules and Audrey. His nephew Graham was likable and adorable with Lauren’s children. And of course I liked Lauren’s overprotective brothers. The side characters each added something to the book when they were present and it made for a well rounded cast of characters which I would read more about. The secondary storyline was also interesting, even if in some places it was a little predictable, and I think the effects it had on Lauren and her grief and healing process were respectful.

This was an enjoyable book which I am glad I picked up. It was my first read by Connors but I don’t think it will be my last.

Favourite Quotes:
"You,” he says and takes a deep breath, "are the biggest risk I never took, and I've regretted it for five years. I'm not making that mistake again."

Lauren Manning Emerson (30) was a wife and mother and was successful as a sports marketer. She met Josh by default while going to a work event in which she thought she would be leaving with a co-worker, Jameson Flynn (30). Making the night awkward considering Jameson was also Josh’s agent. The thing that stood out was that had Jameson’s sister not gotten pregnant, he would have been with Lauren even knowing she wanted marriage and children. But that phone call from Audrey changed everything.

When Josh told Jameson that night that his mom was pressuring him to get married and have children. Josh saw Lauren himself and even asked Jameson about her, making sure Jameson didn't want her. He said, “No.” That's when Josh went all in. A lie because the night before they had gone to dinner, and it had blown the both of them out of the water. Six months later they were getting married. However, on her last day on the job, the last thing Jameson said to her was why she was such a coward.

Told her she went from fierce and fiery to completely docile. She hated herself for how she’d let Josh dull her spark and even more for how she knew she’d do anything to bring it back. She did go through with the marriage, and all was good until she had the twins. Then little by little, Josh pulled away and came home only when necessary. His mother never accepted her, so Lauren kept pushing for them to go back to Boston so she could work. Josh didn't want her working, though.

She became more unhappy with his travel and ski trips while she stayed home alone with the girls. She decided to apply for a job in Salt Lake, and guess what? She got it. Three days a week, and she will have a one-and-a-half-hour commute each way. She hadn’t told Josh about the interview or getting the job because he is not the easiest to get ahold of lately. She did text him to see when he would be home. None of her friends but Petra knew anything about the marital problems Lauren was having.

She told Petra she planned to fix Josh’s favorite dinner. While shopping, she gets a call no one wants to get; she finds out that Josh is skiing in a different state than he told her he would be in; he was with an unknown group of friends, but he was skiing off the grid, and knowing there was a chance of an avalanche. Unfortunately, all in the group he skied with were killed in an avalanche, including Josh; none made it. Needless to say, her new job went by the wayside.

Her friends pulled in tight because they all knew Josh’s family would leave her and the girls hanging. Sure enough, they did. That's okay, Petra, Paige, Jackson, Morgan, and Sierra, along with their spouses. They were like guardians. What surprised Lauren the next morning was seeing Jameson on the other side of her front door holding a caramel latte and an envelope. He explained he was in charge of Josh’s will and trust and wanted to see if she had any questions. She was baffled because she had no clue what he was talking about.

He set it up, along with the will, to protect all your assets in case anything should happen to either of you. “I’ll get you the name of Josh’s estate lawyer and his financial adviser. You’ll want to talk to both of them. Let me know if you want me to be part of either of those conversations, and we can arrange a call.” “Thanks,” she says, her voice flat and eyes lifeless. They surrounded her and protected her from her outlaw Barb, who called to tell her that she overheard her tell the girls she wanted to sell the house to move back to Boston.

Her outlaw wanted to put her in her place by telling her she couldn’t sell and thinking she would get all the money. Josh’s dad and Barb gave Josh one million dollars to buy the house. It's this news and the finding info from the advisor and lawyer that has her calling Jameson. This opens communication and the floodgates of emotions that he will be helping Lauren maneuver through to find her husband's truths, of what lies he laid down everywhere.

After losing her husband, Lauren has to move on with her life. But how can she when shocking secrets come to light that make everything she thought she knew a lie. And then there's Jameson, the guy who broke her heart and with whom she didn't part on exactly good terms. So why is he seemingly there for her and her kids? Perhaps he's not the guy she had thought. Or maybe he is...

Wow, what a way to end this amazing series! Jameson and Lauren's journey is heartbreaking at times, full of emotional highs and lows, and two lovable characters at the center. The heat level in this one is probably the hottest yet, so be forewarned 🔥 There are cameos of the other couples in the series, and a preview of the upcoming hockey series, starting with Jameson's sister and a newly traded player.
