it started off really good but the last like half of it made me lose interest tbh. there were a couple of inconsistencies and times where something would happen that contradicted what was said earlier in the book. the time frame of this was completely unbelievable. i’m getting really getting tired of reading about how male characters “instantly harden” around the fmc especially after something traumatic happens to the fmc. also really didn’t feel the connection between her and the HAVOC members like i honestly think the relationship should’ve just been between her and pierce bc he’s the only one i really felt she had a connection/chemistry with (which goes back to the time frame being unbelievable- maybe if it was longer i would’ve been able to see the connection with the other 3).

This book started at about 3 stars and got downgraded drastically in the last 40 pages.

Once the focus left the action plot, this book fell apart. There were pretty obvious discrepancies in the story from what was given as information early on and what the readers are supposed to accept at the end. Also, as soon as the action ended, the FMC became an entirely different person in the span of what I'm assuming is 5-10 minutes. Gage also switched personalities instantly. These things make it difficult to take the characters (or what happened with the story in the end) seriously.

Here's what really got this book downgraded to one star though:

I apologize for my rant-driven spoilers. I usually give myself time to cool down to write a review, but I didn't this time.

I think so far, the only one who knew how to write a good female assassin story well in this saga is Brutger. The same thing didn't happen here as in the other books, which was to put aside the girls' mission in favor of building the harem. It was the book that had everything from action, to assassinations, to guns and plots and planning aside from the romance. Tabitha so far is the most real character I have read in this saga, she behaves like an assassin, due to her past she doesn't know how to integrate into society and it is complicated for her to maintain a relationship, besides being lethal in some situations and innocent in others. I'll give the author that, because our protagonist somehow felt more real than the other Belladonnas.

She also knew well how to do a 50/50 on relationship building and world building, she didn't leave out the reason Tabitha was assigned to that case for prioritizing the relationship and vice versa. Good there.

Now, the reason I'm only giving it 3 stars and no more. I didn't like any of the men. I mean, I don't know what happened with them, but I just couldn't feel that spark between them and the heroine.

I couldn't connect with any of their pasts or their actions, nor did I fully buy into their love for her. The problem with these standalone books is that the authors have to make the relationships in a snappy way. There is so little time to build the relationship with the boys well that it feels very unbelievable romance. Instalove was never my thing, unless I'm in the mood for a short story, otherwise I can't take those relationships seriously because I feel like a woman with other similar characteristics will come along and they'll feel the same way they do about the main character, unlike a slow burn book where we're slowly shown why they fell in love with her and put a solid relationship in place for us. The only defense I give the author is that the relationship didn't feel so rushed, especially because of Tabitha compared to the other books.

If it wasn't for that part, it would have been 4.5 stars. As for the rest, very good Brutger.

I wanted to like this book more, but I can’t give it 4 stars. To start with the positives, I do actually really like the characters and the plot was decently interesting. But there were too many inconsistencies that bugged me. First off, in the other books of the series and the beginning of this one, it’s often mentioned that Tabitha is a hands off, machine based assassin. I know they say Pierce trained with her so she’d have “some skills to defend herself”, but then a few months later she’s some super assassin on the physical front? Then it says in the beginning that Pierce has only been there 8 months…but if I’m not mistaken, he was the driver for all the other girls and those timelines definitely go back further than 8 months. When she meets the guys, Bast talks about the Marines, then later on he says Army. I also really don’t see a guy who’s had either one of those group’s regulations be part of his life for so long, end up with long dreads, which is what the description makes it sound like… And lastly, Tabitha is described as a sociopath many times, when in reality, her tics just sound like someone with Autism, who was raised a certain way and that impacted how she turned out. It even says she was that way before everything her dad did. So that bugged me. And she ends up saying she doesn’t know what love is to Pierce on one day, then the next she is professing her love to all the others?… Like I said, way too many grrr things for me, which was surprising because I’ve really enjoyed other works by this author.

I really thought I would love this one based on the overall idea of it, and that I have enjoyed other works by the author. A sociopath (not diagnosed though) FMC really drew me in, and as someone that struggles with understanding facial expressions and some social norms I wanted to relate to to the character. But it was a whole contradiction...the dialogue would have the FMC confused and questioning the MMCS for things they said or felt but then the author would write how the "worry in his brown eyes melted away, replaced by such hope and longing" HOW CAN SHE SEE THIS?! I think if you are going to do something, then do it properly and actually dive completely in to the personality and character you are creating. The whole thing gave me whiplash with how one minute she was clueless and the next she can tell all about them by a look, especially as there were some contradictions (also a lot of repetition too).
The MMCS were okay but fairly forgettable, as you don't learn a lot about them, I think Pierce was the only one I could see chemistry with as he was introduced at the start...but the rest it just didn't feel genuine. Especially Gage as he just turned a complete 180 and went from looking at her in disgust to suddenly wanting her.
We also hear all of the abuse she suffered from her father the whole way through, and how she was rescued as a young child...but then she sees him again and completely throws away all the trauma and hate without any reason to? Really confused on that one.
Overall it was okay...but not one I loved or will remember much.

I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I just didn’t feel completely invested in the story or characters like I have with previous Brutger books. That being said, I would 100% read a story focused on Tabitha and the guys rescuing children in situations similar to Tabitha’s childhood and helping them heal!

I am a huge Brutger fan. Loved her past series. This one just fell flat. We have a strong, capable (yet broken) MFC who essentially becomes a simpering broken woman when surrounded by her men. It’s so odd. The woman is an assassin. Yet they treat her like a breakable doll. It’s one thing to show vulnerability. You want that for character depth. But this story was full of blank spaces. I had to force myself through to the end and honestly, never found myself cheering for the group.

So great to see the final Belladonna get her HEA

I've been waiting for Tabithas book since it was first hinted that Pierce had a thing for her, and it was great to see all that longing play out on the page! Tabitha is definitely one of the more clinical Belladonnas but throughout the course of the books she grows emotionally as the relationship with all the guys develop. Definitely a slower burn but it makes sense within the context of the fast moving plot. Overall a very entertaining read that did not disappoint

This book is great, the FMC is a little “quirky” and struggles to fit into society without certain boundaries in place. She think people are too ‘peopley’ but I think we all have moments in life where we can relate to this. The MMCs are a great mix of guys who come to care for Tabitha, even though some take longer than others to realise her greatness.

Tabitha is used to being alone so struggles with letting the guys in and learning to trust and depend on them. Overall a great read!

It's an OK book wasn't my favorite out of the series I kinda thought it would be so maybe I hyped it up in my mind. So I deducted a star because I kinda lost intrest in the characters by the end. Another star was deducted because the author never once used a contraceptive and there wasn't a suprise baby so that usually counts a star or a half star in my mind because safe smexy is a need in this day and age unless theres a concequence to the unsafeness like a baby lol. Anyways it was ok.

Fab story

I loved this story about damaged Tabitha who is a Beladonna. She is tasked with clearing out her grandfather's house (who she didn't know) but comes across a turf war for some missing gold. She also seemed to have created her own harem too. Due to her harsh upbringing, Tabitha's mind is fractured and she struggles around people. She needs her men to help her become whole again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tabitha by Stacey Brutger immerses readers in a thrilling world of danger, deception, and deadly beauty. The Belladonnas, a group of elite assassins, are as deadly as they are captivating, and Tabitha's story delivers suspense, intrigue, and unexpected emotional depth. With sharp writing and a twist-filled plot, this book keeps you hooked from start to finish. It's an exhilarating ride through a world where love and betrayal intertwine in the most dangerous ways. Perfect for fans of dark romance and high-stakes action.

not good at all

So much of this book didn’t make since. The grandfather claimed he never knew she existed and they lived miles from each other. It was rushed and the plot was terrible. To be fighting over some long lost gold, in a mining town, and the gold didn’t even come from the town.🙄 you have some random man raise you as a “cleaner”. It was just not good!!!

I enjoyed it

A scarred and abused child becomes an assassin. Even though she's trained she's never been quite right. After being sent on a mission that ends up being more personal than she realizes, she finds her future in the most unexpected men. It's a dark story but I love that. I especially love a badass main character that's a woman.

This book was full of unexpected emotions

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was funny, poignant, and sweet. It was also probably the most action packed and tense read from the shared world. Definitely give it a go.

Love

I love the Belladonnas world. In this book we get to see Tabitha the anti social gear head. Like with the rest she is tasked with a mission that connects with her past and also brings her to her own men. I am sad to see these series end and wish we had more.

I love how weird Tabby is and the guys are all so fabulous! But it's always the psycho that gets me.

I wanna know what happens next!

A little to quick insta love for me. With Pierce I get but the others was soo damn quick with not enough sexual tension.

Loved it!

I suck at writing reviews, just not eloquent enough. Which means that I will only do this when the book is freaking AMAZING!

I've been a fan of Stacey's since her original PNR Assassins series, and this book was a one-click for. NO REGRETS!

Tabitha

I really enjoyed Tabitha's character. Her upbringing undoubtedly forged her into who she became. The author did a great job making her endearing to the men in her life and me as a reader.

Omg, the last book in this shared world was AMAZING!!!! Tabitha is so different from her “sisters” and I loved how her story played out. It was a page turner that I didn't want to put down. I'm sad that I've now made it through all of the books, but what a way to end it.
