4.5 stars - Short, sweet and smokin’ HOT! ♥

Fans of the Up In The Air series were treated to a hint at Lana and Akira’s story in Grounded and now we get to see their story in full detail.

Lana is returning to Maui, her beloved childhood home, on a business trip eight years after having her heart broken by the only man she’s ever loved. Her heart has never healed and she has never moved on. But little does she know, that despite all the years and miles separating them, he’s never forgotten her either.

“He made a little noise of sympathy in his throat, stroking my hair. “Oh, Lana,” he whispered. “I only ever seem to hurt you, no matter what I do.”

When they meet again, HOLY CHEMISTRY !! It’s mingled with a heavy undercurrent of emotions stemming from their unrequited love which added a nice depth to the story.

My heart just ached for them! They were both so clearly head over heals for each other and their connection was THERE! Lana wanted him so desperately, you could just feel it. And despite it being clear that he cared oh-so-deeply for her, there was something holding him back. Something she had to push through.

And my my my is this book HOT! Lana was no blushing virgin! She knew what she wanted and had no qualm about going after it. And Akira was just amazing. A wonderful big tattooed hero that nobody messed with who had always had this huge soft spot for his girl. But for so many reasons, he just didn’t feel like he deserved her.

I loved watching them come together and find each other again.

“I think I could stay like this forever, with you,” I told him quietly.
He pressed a cheek against my hair, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. “Why don’t you, then? Give me one good reason why you can’t…?”

In only about 100 pages, RK Lilley managed to wrap in the depth and emotion of a full length novel. I almost feel like it was more of a condensed novel than a short story. It was a fast, wonderful read with a happy ending that tugged my heart strings and made me blush and fan myself.

“I love you,” I said breathlessly…
“Good,” he murmured roughly, “because I’m keeping you forever.”

There are also cameos from James and Bianca and because of that, readers will get some slight spoilers as to the ending of the Up In The Air trilogy so if you absolutely want to keep yourself spoiler-free, I suggest you read those first. But if you don’t mind either way, this can technically be read as a stand alone.

My name is Lana.

This is my story.

I met him when I was ten years old, back when I was living on the island and my hair was practically white from the sun and my skin matched the grains of sand.

He was older, smarter, stronger. And so beautiful in the most savage way.

He was my Akira.

I fell in love with him the way your lungs fall in love with breathing.

At ten years old, he was my protector. My friend.

But as I grew older into my teens… that friendship turned into a livewire of sexual tension, and hooded gazes, and arousing frustration.

On my eighteenth birthday, all of that changed with the biggest mistake of my life.

And I left.

But I never forgot about the love of my life.

 photo download-15.jpg

Eight years later…

Lana returns back to her island.

But she’s different now.

She’s a huge business mogul with the world in her back pocket.

But even power and fame can’t erase faces.

And nothing could erase his.

 photo 2975c4cac66613b701b19d0953ca222c.jpg

With shaking hands and over-the-shoulder glances, she can’t help but scan the warm sidewalks for his face.

Until he finds her.

He released my limp hand, then gripped my legs open, and buried his face there. He began to suck and lick and stroke, working me hard with his tongue and teeth before he started on me with thick fingers.

 photo d57c52de4ffa5238784e2fd885a6cb26-1.jpg

And she realizes only too well…

He couldn’t…wouldn’t…didn’t…forget about her.

His Lana.

He was striding to me before I’d finished taunting him. He grabbed my hips from behind, pressing hard against me, and working himself in, inch by hard inch.

“I’ve jerked myself off to your pictures more times than I can count,” he whispered into my ear.

What the hell did I just read? I have loved, absolutely LOVED the Tristan and Danika series. And this book? Felt like I was reading an entirely different author. Yes it felt rushed, but it was a 100 page novella, so I didn't even mind that. But then the heroine acted like an emotional bitch in heat the entire book. I mean good lord. My head was spinning.

Minor spoiler below....

Lana comes back to Hawaii for business after leaving and not looking back 8 years ago. Or really, she ran away after the love of her life, Akira, broke her heart. So to sum up, she hasn't talked to him in 8 years. 8 years! You with me? Good. She obviously wants to avoid running into Akira, but then lo and behold of course the one person she wants to avoid she literally stumbles into. It's a whole lot of awkward, and then he invites her to go to the beach. And what does Lana do? Why strip down to change in his car and then proceeds to fondle herself for his viewing pleasure. Recall the part where I mentioned they haven't seen or talked to each other in over 8 years?! And she doesn't know if he's single or even remotely likes her? Yea.

All this and I hadn't even hit the 20% mark yet. That was the beginning of the end for me. It only got worse from then on, but I won't even go into that.

As deliciously sexy as Akira was, the story and the overly annoying heroine completely killed the book for me. It felt like the longest novella I have ever read.

Thank goodness I read this book after Tristan and Danika, or I would never have taken a chance on any of the other books. This one would have turned me off completely. Obviously you can't love them all, and they all can't be 5 stars. I still adore this author, but sadly I just didn't adore this book. As a matter of fact it makes me slightly embarrassed to share a name with the heroine. But hey, that's just this picky bitch's opinion. There's plenty of readers that loved it, so give it a go and see for yourself.

So this is a novella telling the story of Lana and her hunk of Hawaiian goodness, Akira. It’s only short so you’re not going to get to know them quite as well as Mr Cavendish and his Buttercup but it is a beautiful, steamy romance and we get a sneak peek at the next R.K. Lilley novel at the end too.

We’ve got to know Lana fairly well in the Up In The Air trilogy and know that she’s a little sad and lonely and pining for Akira who she thinks looks at her as a little sister. They practically grew up together in Hawaii and he being ten years her senior tried hard to resist his attraction to her but one day, Lana ramps up the flirtation and Akira caves and they share one passionate night together before Lana overhears the following from Akira the next day….

It isn’t what it looked like. Lana is just a family friend with an inconvenient infatuation. Just leave her alone, k?”

Humiliated, she runs and she keeps on running for eight long years until a conversation with James & Bianca convinces her to go back home. She quite literally walks straight into Akira and he almost knocks her down and they slowly start to repair the wounds left open by that overheard conversation and rekindle that white-hot sizzling attraction that has always simmered between them.

I did like Lana but the way she’s been drifting through life just accepting her lot really bothered me. There’s an overwhelming sadness to her that the love of her life had rejected her so brutally all those years ago and she’s never got over it. She loved Akira with every fibre of her being and friendship was just never going to be enough and she allowed the distance to grow between them like a cancer.

I really loved Akira – big, tall, over-protective, possessive Hawaiian hunk that he is. He’s a tower of strength – he’s been carrying a candle for Lana all these long years but still doesn't consider himself good enough for her.

These are two people meant for one another but ripped asunder by circumstances and this novella follows their story as they rekindle that fire so brutally snuffed out all those years ago and it’s a very steamy novella with some fabulously hot sex scenes, in particular on at sunset.

If you’ve enjoyed R.K. Lilley’s books before, I feel fairly confident in saying that you’re gong to like this one. It’s beautifully romantic, wonderfully steamy with another bossy protective hero – just the way we like them.

Lana, Lana, Lana...you, minx, you.

description

Who knew? You were certainly nothing like I expected! I guess you always have to watch out for the quiet ones!

I was shocked at your actions...

description

What happened to the elegant and classy woman we met in the Up In the Air series? If we only knew...

description

I think I would have been more prepared!!

But...besides all that, I really enjoyed Lana and Akira together. And they wasted no time in getting back together! This book is hot, hot, HOT!!

description

I loved how protective Akira was of Lana. He was always taking such good care of her. The 'taking care of himself' with visual aids was hilarious!

It did kill me to read what they both went through over some silly assumptions...eight years wasted. Although, I'm not sure things would've worked out as well if they hadn't had those eight years apart.

I didn't care for Melina at all. She seemed to be just thrown in for some drama. Thankfully, Akira finally explained everything that happened.

Akira's sister, Mari, and his Mom, Tutu, were sooo hilarious and sooo sweet. I loved when Tutu threw away the birth control pills. But it was clear how much they loved and supported both Lana and Akira.

The ending was great. I enjoyed seeing everyone come together...James, Bianca and Stephan especially.

Really, the only other complaint is that it could've been longer. But the bonus is having the first chapter of Bad Things included. Can't wait for more Danika and Tristan!

Where to start...where to start....

I’m sure there are spoilers in this so be warned!

Purple-eyed(Yes, really!) Lana left at 18 when her heart was broken by local hottie, Akira. She had been in love with Akira since she was younger and dreamed of marrying him.

On her 18th birthday she decides to slut it up and gets him to give her first kiss. Then she basically jumps him to get him to "make love" to her.

She is a virgin but certainly doesn't seem to act it. Oh and of course she gets her first kiss and first three orgasms all in the same evening.

ummmmm photo 843975_zps47598f21.gif

She overhears him talking to Milena who he had an on again/ off again relationship with about her inconvenient infatuation with him and gets upset and runs away.

outrage photo tumblr_mvoglp3L3O1ri325ao2_500_zps12fb3d13.gif

So now Lana is back in town after being gone for 8 years. She arrives for business and just for a few days, yet I don’t think she worked at all during this whole book. She was headed to the hotel in a rush so bad she had to borrow someone’s car yet never made it there when she saw Akira.

eye rolling photo 860276_zps957992af.gif

So she’s see Akira and its like she hasn’t been gone 8 years. They automatically decide to go to the beach and Lana decides to put on her bathing suit in the vehicle. Oh wait even though she hasn’t supposedly had sex with any other guy in 8 years she’s going to go full slutty again and start fingering herself in front of him.

 photo tumblr_ltfy0ogpcm1qdgk29_zpsb7fc27ec.gif

And of course she talks him into having sex with her and they do it again and again and again.

Then they go to the bar and Milena is there. Even though she has been split from Akira for awhile she decides no one messes with her man and they get into a fight.

HIT photo tumblr_m4g6421NUP1qd270so1_500_zpsfaf04bae.gif

But Lana is proud when she wins and proceeds to tell everyone, even the hospital people who doctor her cuts. (Really get some fucking peroxide and do that shit yourself) Akira warns her that Milena is crazy and dangerous and will hurt her yet we hear nothing more about Milena in the rest of this.

you aint shit photo you-aint-shit_zps821c7e8a.gif

Ok so Lana and Akira have only been together for like two days and haven’t seen each other in 8 years but what better way to prove their love for each other than for Akira to propose and Lana to accept.

 photo totl1_zps7be33037.gif

Am I the only one who is confused? She hasn’t seen him in that long and is willing to marry him after two days?

bother you photo 53818-This-is-too-sweet--Imgur-gBcD_zps29935393.gif

Oh so then she gets married

and they live happily ever after. The End!

Lana!!! That was a crazy turn around... The classy lady from Up in the Air series is nowhere to be found. Actually that's a lie, she is there for about a millisecond. She turns into a horned up minx... seriously what is in that Hawaiin Air??? Or maybe it's just Akira?

Lane flies out to her home island that she hasn't visited in 8 years for business. She goes in to visit her old friend and runs into her crush-love Akira and then...

and

 photo minx.gif

NOW, I love it. It is a bit shocking I admit because we have not seen this side to Lana ANYWHERE before but I loved it. Once she got another chance to breakthrough Akira she went for it without any inhibitions. Thankfully, Akira had 8 years to wise up and own up to his insecurities of not being good enough.

During one of their crazy sexy time:
"This is paradise. you took my paradise with you when you left, Lana... I'm going to wring so many orgasms out of you that you'll be too exhausted to even think about leaving this rock"

It has been 8 years since Lana has been to Maui. 8 years ago she left her home, and the love of her life, Akira.

 photo 4d78ac49-4474-4239-9ff5-fef109aa60e2_zpse1fe52bc.jpg

Now she is back in town for business. The first day she is on the island, she runs into him.

My feelings hadn’t dimmed with time; they’d merely been pushed back into a dark corner of my heart, ignored, as I was deprived of his intoxicating presence.

We get some flashbacks into Lana and Akira’s past and get to see everything that went down between the two of them. It was beautiful to watch them rekindle their love. We know Lana has always loved Akira, but it was nice to see things from his perspective. In the past, Akira felt like he was doing the right thing for Lana, she was so young and had her whole life ahead of her. He never felt like he deserved her, so we can’t hold that against him!

 photo 96a8a028-d86b-484f-b019-a2f91e38786b_zpscd57678d.jpg

It’s no surprise, if you have read the Up in the Air series, that this book was smokin hot! The past and the present... Lana is shameless at times, especially in the past, but I love her for it! She and Akira have a connection and some serious chemistry.

After spending 8 years apart, they spend every minute together they can while Lana is in town. It is wonderful, with the exception of Akira’s bat shit crazy ex. Lana has always wanted Akira, she knew that at 18 years old...
“I love you, Akira. I always have, and I always will. I want to be with you forever. I don’t want anyone else.”

And Akira can’t imagine his life without Lana. He loves her too and he is not willing to let her go this time...

“Don’t leave us again, Lana,” he whispered roughly. “Don’t leave me. Stay. Please.”

Loved Lana and Akira. If you enjoyed the Up in the Air series, you will most likely love this one too! Romantic, short, sweet, and sexy- Lana’s story was great! And yes... we do get a small part with Mr. Beautiful and Bianca :D Excited for Tristan and Danika’s story!!!

I loved R.K. Lilley’s Up in the Air Series and I was so looking forward to Lana’s story. She was such an adorable, strong, independent and totally lovable character. I was expecting an amazing love story between Lana and Akira…who sounded really interesting.
And what happened????

Let me begin by saying that I wanted to love this book but honestly I just can’t. I struggled and struggled t finish it and the only reason I persevered was due to me wanting some more of James and Bianca…..

It was like reading a book written by a different author of the Up in the Air Series. Everything felt too rushed, too much crammed in……….the whole story felt totally unbelievable to me.

Lana goes back home to Hawaii after 8 years of pining for Akira and what happens??? Within an hour she’s playing with herself as Akira watches her from the car front seat!!!! Really!!! Lana by RK Lilley photo cb7d09f6-1f92-4d91-8f4b-892d9fbe0fbe_zps196cec73.jpg What happened to Lana????

I just didn't feel the connection between the two...in fact I felt no connection to them or any of the characters in this story. I did not like anyone…and I just managed to stop myself from changing my mind about how much I liked Lana previously.

In a few words let me just say that I really disliked Akira. I don’t care if he was this sweet and weepy guy at the end…the way he’s described was so turn-off for me. I kept picturing him as some kind of sumo wrestler, eating huge amounts of food, bulging muscles…yuk……..not sexy at all....oh and let me add……the cover is NOTHING like Akira’s description in the book. I thought the guy on the cover to be quite hot….but I promise you, Akira ain’t looking anything like the cover boy!!!!

"I’m going to wring so many orgasms out of you that you’ll be too exhausted to even think about leaving this rock…"
Akira – sexy!!!!! just does not sound sexy to me!!!!!!!!!!

Lana goes from being this strong and smart woman to a bimbo, even having hair fights with Akira’s vicious and totally OTT ex girlfriend!! Is this for real I kept asking myself? And what….she’s ordered by Akira to wait outside whilst he has a chat with his wicked ex…yes she keeps appearing….and what does Lana do? No she does not go back to her home...instead to walks to the beach, gets lost (is that possible??), cuts her foot, falls onto the sand, cries and cries and then falls asleep on the beach to wake up with the full sunshine, limps towards some people on the beach…blah blah blah!!!!

And what about the irritating Tutu!!! No I cannot find the words to say more about this character!!!!!!! How much more could I take her “so you white girls want to take all our men away from us?”….WHAT!!!!

So so boring!!! Could it get any worse??? Yes, so much so that I skimmed the entire section of the book that takes place the famous 8 years previously!!!!!!!!!

I am sure there are many readers who enjoyed and will enjoy this novella but me…I was so disappointed.

**3 1/2 to 4 stars**

I was SO looking forward to this story after having had a little "hint" of what had happened between Lana and Akira in the Up In The Air series. I DID enjoy it, however, i had one "beef" with it. The first couple of sexual interactions between those two were awkward!! I kind of felt that the way Lana acted/handled those situations seemed out of character for her ..this was a different Lana than the one we were introduced to in the Up In The Air series...that Lana was confidant, sophisticated and mature, this one just came off as desperate. I completely understand the confidence wavering when you're confronted with the love of your life who had rejected you when you were young, but come on woman, have some dignity!! I was def. questioning where this story was going.

Thankfully those happened early on and that was the end of that description ...their love story did end up being very cute and sweet and the rest of the "scenes" were pretty smokin' hot! Looking forward to R.K. Lilley's next series featuring Tristan and Danika.

Originally read March 12-13, 2013 but am re-reading Feb. 2015, after having re-read the Up In The Air series!

**After my re-read, i've decided i enjoyed this soooo much better the second time around! The couple's early sexual encounters were still a little awkward...the way she handled herself awkward...but the rest was still hot and super sweet!

Was very excited to see Lana and Akira's story, but was disappointed in the novella. With a full length book, perhaps I would have felt more of a connection to the story, but that did not happen here.
Lana's extremely forward behavior in the first part of the story just set the wrong tone for me and I never recovered. Lots of missed potential for the two main characters and the evil OW issue left unresolved.
Despite my disappointment with this novella, I am looking forward to her next book, Bad Things.

I've wanted Lana's story since the first time we met her in James and Bianca's trilogy. This did not disappoint. I was a little worried when I realized this was a novella, but the author did a great job of packing a lot of heartbreaking and heart mending into a tiny package.

I adored Lana and Akira's story, and I'm looking forward to Danka and Tristan's story too.

Not safe for me.

Lana was infatuated with a man who is ten years older with a girlfriend. During a brief interim breakup with said “crazy” girlfriend, she has sex with him at 18, giving him her virginity.

She overhears him consoling his ex saying that Lana is simply an infatuated girl. Lana then leaves because apparently rich eighteen year olds can leave their homes and hop on a plane whenever.

During their years apart, he gets back together with the ex-girlfriend. They even get engaged. That’s betrayal right there.

Lana deserves better. Even coming back after eight years Akira’s paradoxical actions were silly. The “ex girlfriend/ex fiancé” is still hanging about declaring how she got a thousand nights with him in comparison to Lana’s paltry two nights where she was used.

One minute pushing her away, then wanting her back. Proposing to her within two days. What were you doing with your time?

Lana was the pursuer in this relationship, the one who fell deeply and the one who bore all the hurt. Leave this island man on his island. He’s trash.

2.5 Wasted Potential Stars!

"This is paradise. You took my paradise with you when you left, Lana."

Sigh, this book was a total disappointment! If you've read the Up In The Air Series, we met Lana and were left with hints about a long lost love left in Hawaii. I was so excited to get my hands on this novella. For one, I've become obsessed with R.K. Lilley. Second, I loved Lana and the tragic circumstances surrounding her childhood love. Finally, a possessive alpha tattooed Hawaiian man? SOLD! Unfortunately, this little novella was a total disappointment...

What's it about?

Lana can't remember a time that she wasn't hopelessly in love with the sexy possessive Akira. Even knowing all along that he only viewed her as his mentor's daughter, it's never changed the unconditional love that she has harbored for him since she was 10 years old.....and he was 20. One passion filled night 8 years ago only made things worse. You see Lana seduced Akira, and while Akira spent a passion filled night with her, the next morning she overhears him putting down their night together as nothing more than an infatuation. Heartbroken, Lana flees paradise. Eight years later, she returns home for business but her plans are quickly ruined when she literally runs into her long lost love Akira, and this time he's not letting her go so easily!

“How are you?” he finally asked. Mortifyingly, the question brought tears to my eyes. Adrift, I thought. I’m just adrift, banned from my home, and utterly rejected by the only man Ill ever love. I wanted to hate him for it, but I just couldn’t. I had only ever known how to love him. Whole-heartedly. Too much so.

Thoughts?

Whew, sounds hot huh? Well it was..to an extent. For the most part I found this story so quick paced that I had a hard time believing in this so called "love" they shared. While I normally love a romance filled with steamy sex, when you have such a short novella like Lana, I need more character story-lines and development. We didn't get any of that here. It was 90 percent sex, 10 percent storyline. Answers are left unanswered, explanations are unbelievable, and I just found it lacking in general, other than the writing style which I found amazing!

“You were this perfect, enchantingly beautiful girl that made the world brighter just by being in it, and you were ours. I can’t tell you how sorry I am that I drove you away.”

This is by far going on my list of one of the most disappointing books of all time. I had such high hopes for this book. While the writing was superb, the characters sexy and likable we DIDN'T GET ENOUGH STORY! I don't understand why all the other characters get 3 books each and Lana only got a short novella. If Lana had a standalone or a series, I would guarantee it a spot on my favorites list, but this book just wasn't enough. Let me list some reasons:

Sex: Okay this happened way too fast and way too often. After the hero rejects the heroine she started feeling him up in his sleep. I don't know about you guys but that scene kinda creeps me out. What if he didn't want her to do that? Also, the whole calling out his girlfriends name in annoyance while he's aroused? What was that about? We're never given an explanation.

Milena: Okay this was by far my biggest problem with this novella. There were so many things left unanswered with Milena's role in this. For one, why did Akira get engaged to her? She threatened to SERIOUSLY injure the woman he loves and he gets engaged to her? I don't understand that. Yes, I can understand the hooking up, but we are given NO EXPLANATION for why he proposed to her. I don't understand it...

Also in regards to Milena, was Akira warning Lana to be careful around her. He says that she could seriously harm Lana...then we never hear from her again. What happens? Does Lana get attacked? Is Milena going to stop bothering them? There was so much left unanswered it drove me crazy!

“Don’t leave us again, Lana,” he whispered roughly. “Don’t leave me. Stay. Please.”

Verdict?
Again, the characters were awesome, the setting beautiful and the alpha male hotness off the charts! Unfortunately, Lana just failed to deliver. I really would love to know why the author didn't want to give Lana a standalone or a series. I don't get it. However, don't not read this just because it wasn't for me. It's a sexy read, and it might not bother you! Give it a chance if you want to know what happens to Lana!

"I love you," I said breathlessly, as he pushed himself inside of me.

"Good," he murmured roughly, "because I'm keeping you forever."

Okay let's get this out the way first ~ when the lovely R.K. contacted me with an ARC for Lana yes I know I did this........................

but hey YOU WOULD TOO if you were contacted! Lana is a spin-off from the Up in the Air series, another awesome series. Lana hasn't been back to her beloved "rock" in 8 years. It was 8 years earlier that she left Hawaii and Akira behind fleeing actually from the devastation that wrapped around her heart at the thought that Akira didn't and wouldn't love her like she loved him. She was young 18 year old woman when she left and now she is a 26 year-old woman returning as part of a business trip for her parents resort.

Now this is a Novella that features the past & present between Lana & Akira and is told from Lana's POV. I can't give you too much more than that basic info without divulging more than I care to so let's see how I felt about this book. Well, when I got to the part that Lana decides to visit Tutu & Mari, this is Akira's Mom & sister, I was.........

Tutu is BY FAR my favorite character and she will have you.........

Lord I love that woman~! Well, it wouldn't be complete if Lana hadn't ran right into Akira's ex-girlfriend, Milena, who is a .............

damn she's a fruit loop! Certifiable crazy YEP THAT'S her :) Well, then Akira enters the picture and oh...........................

well things get pretty damn hot & steamy pretty quickly, yes ladies..

then that freaking nut case shows up and I wanted to.................

then I started to...............................................

Oh Lana! Oh poor, poor Lana but right when things went wrong things went ............................................................

and some more of ................................................

and then Oh My Gosh, oh I was so happy I was ......................

then by the end I was totally.......................................

but the last chapter oh the last chapter totally had me.............

R.K. has done it AGAIN another 5 freaking star read that is off the charts hot, sexy, emotional with a touching ending for Lana & Akira, a sneak peek of our lovely James & Bianca and an ending that will leave you wanting! This comes out on 3/11/13 hoping an earlier release date but folks mark those calendars cause you HAVE TO READ IT THE MINUTE it's released!!!!!!

'I'm just adrift, banned from my home, and utterly rejected by the only man I'll ever love.'

I was excited to read this novella because I loved Lana in the 'In Flight series'. Through that series, we found out about how she was still in love with Akira after leaving all those years. She had left Hawaii heartbroken due to Akira's rejection, and never looked back. In this novella she finally returns to Hawaii to attend to some matters in the family business. This is where she reunites with Akira.

"You have the most amazing eyes in the world, Lana. I think I'v missed those the most... I can't tell you how sorry I am that I drove you away."

********

"I guess it was always just wishful thinking. I never wanted to lose hope that you would come back."

********

"I love you, Akira," I said to him as he lay on top of me when we'd finished. My voice was quiet, but sure. "I always have, and I always will. I want to be with you forever. I don't want anyone else."

I was Shocked because I was not expecting Lana to be such a minx LOL! The car and her birthday scene...OMG! It was hot! Let's just say, she ain't shy, that's for sure. I always thought she was kind of tame yet very fun, from her interactions with Bianca. Guess I was wrong on the tame part haha!

"Don't leave us again, Lana," he whispered roughly. "Don't leave me. Stay. Please"

It is a novella so it was short, not much drama here. I was a little let down just because of the fact that it ended too quickly. Right when I was getting into the love story between Akira and Lana it was done and the ending felt rushed to me. So I ended up not completely loving it. I really liked Akira, but, I can't say I love him, obviously, since I couldn't really get into the character well enough, with it being short and all. I liked his family, they were very entertaining. I did enjoy it, though, and it was very sweet and heartwarming. They both realized that they were unhappy being apart and hurt by the misunderstandings of the past. I loved seeing them get back together and no longer deny themselves what they wanted all along. Overall it was plenty hot and a good novella. I can't wait for Danika and Tristan's story!!

"I love you," I said breathlessly.

This novella fits nicely into the Up In The Air series, after Grounded, and tells the story of Lana reuniting with her childhood love, Akira.

Lana has shared some of their backstory in previous books of the series, and this book sees her returning home to Maui on business. She misses her island paradise terribly, but has stayed away for 8 years after she seduced Akira, they had one amazing night together, and then he broke her heart.

Well, of course, she’s not even on the island a day before she runs into the man that she has loved her entire life. And the chemistry between them is HOT!!!! He clearly has feelings for her, and although Akira is hesitant to dive into anything, Lana is brave and bold (my God, is she bold!), going after her man with no holds barred. And, thank God, Akira is unable to resist.

As the two of them rediscover each other, the true story of their past, and Akira’s true feelings come out, and the rekindling of the love between them is gorgeous to watch.

“I think I could stay like this forever, with you,” I told him quietly.
He pressed a cheek against my hair, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. “Why don’t you, then? Give me one good reason why you can’t stay on this rock?”

There are a few issues to overcome with Akira having a psycho ex-girlfriend, and some insecurities about them being together, but oh-so-sassy Lana deals with them in her no-nonsense way - “I’m twenty-six now. Can we get over it already?”. You’ve gotta love her tenacity!

Not that I blame her! Akira is a gorgeous, muscled, tattooed Hawaiian man, who has cared for her and treasured her for her whole life. I fell for him immediately! He is fiercely protective…

“If anyone else lays so much as a fucking finger on her, I’m going to jail tonight.”

… but is absolutely brought to the knees by having his girl back.

“I love you, Lana, and I want you to stay. You said you could never say no to me, and I intend to hold you to that.

SWOOOOOOOOOOON!

With swoony romance and heaps of steaminess, there is a lot of story packed into this little book, but it’s a great read. There is even a brief cameo by James and Bianca. And, of course, a gorgeous HEA.

4 steamy stars.

What. The. Fuck?

It's so hard to believe that the same author who wrote the "Up In the Air" series was the one who wrote this.

Disappointed doesn't even discribe how I'm feeling.

When I first read about Lana in the two last books of the "Up In the Air" series, I really liked her. She seemed so beautiful, capable and extremly independent...

But what the hell happened in her own damned book???

From an incredible confident woman, to a fucking teenager...That's a 360° transformation that I couldn't understand.

I HATED her. Watching her with Akira was PATHETIC. The girl almost crawled to make him hers. That's just so fucked up. And some of the shit she said and thought...I wanted to cover my eyes so that I wouldn't be able to see.

Not even the sex scenes made me like it...Yeah, something was seriously wrong.

Ok so when Lana's book came out I was SUPER EXCITED!

The story line was good, it caught my interest immediately! I keep picturing Jason Momoa as Akira

sigh (goodness that man is hot!)

and I so LOVED TUTU! She was hilarious and spunky!

BUT then just when the story line was getting good

BOOM! IT'S OVER AND I'M LEFT WITH

I sure hope that Tristan's story is not like this cause I would be so

yes I know dramatic but its how I feel...hahahahaha

I am so in love with this freakin cover!

I would give the book a 5 star rating just for the cover! The book itself could be complete rubbish (no chance of it being that) and I would still rate it a 5 because of the cover!

Thank god there is not a long wait for this!

I wanted to give this author a try since her books seems to be generating a lot of buzz. Well, I think this is going to be my first & last book from this author. Lana was a read that I did not enjoy. My reasons are as follow:

*No Story
*No plot
*Pathetic characters
*Awkward dialogue
*Sex scenes felt like they were derived from bad porn
*Too many eye roll moments to count

Outcome: Huge disappointment & 30 minutes of my life wasted.

People seemed to enjoy this book. I absolutely did not. In my opinion, it was beyond boring and I gave up about halfway through.

Lana is too annoying for me to finish.

So wait just to be sure I understood everything correctly; they met when she was 10 and he was 20, he watched her grow up and always saw her as his little sister.
She always had a crush on him so they sleep together once (1) on her 18th birthday when he is momentarily broken up with his girlfriend. After that, she catches him talking with her girlfriend so she leaves their island with a broken heart and doesn't come back for the next 8 years.

She can't seem to move on from him during their years apart.
Then after 8 years she finally comes back for a week-end and she immediately (literally within an hour) stars to do dirty stuff in front of him to get him excited (as any normal woman who hasn't seen a guy in 8 years would, obviously!). They jump on each other and have sex again and again and again. We have some dramas with his ex-girlfriend who still seems to be into him but they just spend most of the book sleeping together.

Then after two days, he asks her to marry him and she says yes???? Like you literally didn't have ANY contact in 8 years, not even a phone call or a card. Just what exactly made y'all think you could be happily married together after two days?
I understand that this is a novella and it's meant to be short, but then don't use this format to tell a complicated love story, or at least use time jumps or something. It was just so ridiculous to have all those dramas and revelations happen in only two days.

The character of Lana was pretty interesting in the main series, she was an independent and confident businesswoman but in this novella? She was just a horny teenager in love with an older guy that didn't seem to share even half of the feelings she had for him. Literally she came on the island to work, I think she worked for literally 2 lines in the book lol.

Akira was such a weird character, it felt like he didn't even care with who he was gonna end up with. Like Lana left? Alright, let's get back together with the crazy and possessive ex-girlfriend (by the way this trope is getting old, the author already used it enough in the main series). He even gets engaged with said ex-girlfriend during those 8 years when they were separated.
Then it's like oh Lana comes back? I haven't seen her in 8 years let's marry her, it will change my routine! Like did he even really love her? Did he even have feelings for her when she was 18 and they slept together?

Anyway, didn't like the characters, the plot (if there was any) or the "love story". This book basically was a big no for me.

I was thrilled when R.K. Lilley sent Lana to me. I adored the Up In The Air Series and Lana although she was a small part of the series, I loved her from the start.

In the Up In The Air Series we find out that Lana has been head over heels for Akira, a family friend, while growing up in Hawaii. Lana fled the island 8 years earlier after an embarrassing encounter with Akira, leaving her heart shattered and not ever wanting to confront him again. Her family business brings Lana back to the home that she loves but never feels she can return to permanently Within 12 hours of being home, who does she run into? You guessed it. And just like before, there is an instant connection and electric pull. This book is a novella, so I don't want to give away what happens. I can guarantee that it is HOT, EROTIC and FULL OF EMOTION. And best of all, we get to see our favorite characters from the Up In The Air Series.

R.K. Lilley hit another home-run with Lana!

*I was given an ARC version of this book in exchange for a honest review.*

I had high expectations to this book as I loved In Flight series. So I thought it would be as great as the story about James-Danika. But apparently, I felt disappointed with this book. I disliked both main characters (they're such frustrating characters for me, gah!), the plots and the writing as well. I almost gave it 2 stars, but at the end of this book I met James-Danika, so I increased a half star to it :P
