Rate this book
Mischievous and manipulative, eighteen-year-old Red is an expert at deception with her provocative femininity. She employs her dirty ways - even faking a pregnancy with her boyfriend - to win a closet full of Gucci bags, a deluxe condominium full of baby accessories, a new car, and a book deal.

But when one of Red's scams backfires and she winds up truly pregnant by her inmate ex-boyfriend, Bacon, she finds herself in more trouble than she's ever known. The drama truly unravels when Red's picture-perfect cons fall apart due to the power of - surprisingly - love.

Spoilers Alert!!! ALERT!

(I'm dying she said "n**** played me for a book, a damn book must be good" and ew she nasty "Red" poop and feed that man her turd. Lord she wrong for that one. And Idk why Q want Red she def dirty as ever. I cannot wait until she gets caught in her schemes. I feel bad for Q. she doesn't deserve him. Plus, I'm waiting on Bacon to get out.)

To be honest!

Red, is the type of female that you can't trust, I get and feel why Bacon wants to kill Red, could you blame him? But Q being in the middle is not good at all smh. I really like Q foreal, he a good dude. And him being in between Bacon and Red crap will get him hurt. I can't wait to get part 2 and also part 3, I finally gotten around to actually getting this book since I've been wanting to read this in like forever, at first I didn't want to finish this book but after a couple of chapters I'm like this book is actually good, I gotta finish it. Glad I did.

P.S.

Bruh, "that mutha***** piss on me" lmao now that had me weak. Lord! I knew Q wasn't going to leave Red. Smh, I feel like he's too good of a man for her like seriously. Leave that girl alone Q dang! Like Bell Biv Devoe said "she's so fly, she'll drive you right out of your mind, steal your heart when you're blind, beware she's schemin' she'll make you think you're dreaming, that girl is POISON!" and that is what Raven aka RED definitely is smh. And what makes it even worse his friend Zeek tap that and I cannot help but sing poison, like Bell Biv Devoe said "me and the crew used to do her". Yeah, Q and his boy defiantly did her humph.

P.S.S

One sad thing about this book was when Red got kicked in her stomach and lost her baby that mess even hurt me and when Terri tried to steal her ex and Kira baby smh, I felt so bad for that baby, anything dealing with kids hurt my heart.

Normally, I don't read. Wait sometimes I do lol. But listen, this book was actually good. I thought maybe it will be boring because of how it started off I couldn't understand where the author was going with the book y'know. But in the end, I liked the book. Women like Red, I cannot deal with her she's dirty, the title of this book is definitely a fit for the type of women she is. Man, she's worse than my ex-girlfriend, like Jesus, I know this book is a fiction genre but there are women out in this world that's like her. And I'm looking and staring at the book like really "Q?" didn't you say you were going to leave her alone but you didn't. I can't say a woman in a book I've read had ever irritated me as much as she, but I've come across plenty of urban books that had me hot lmao.

Dirty Red by Vickie M. Stringer

I wrote A LOT! of SPoliers lol (#BEWARE OF THE REVIEW)

This book was actually good, even though the beginning was a bit boring, or maybe because I wasn't paying attention when I was listening to it on audible. But anyway, why do I keep saying Q is babe? lmao, he's a real dude to me and Red I couldn't blame her for falling in love with him. But she did him wrong with all her lies and schemes that she put him through he didn't deserve that. But in my head "I'm like didn't Q said he didn't want to be a fool again by another bird and he wasn't going to hit that raw? lol mind you I'm going by what he said in the beginning but in the end Red lied to him not once but twice about her begin pregnant with his child (but fake it) and the second time it was by another man (who is her ex-boyfriend who was in jail at the time, they did it in the bathroom at the person I died at that part but also felt bad for her to. I was waiting patiently like when is Bacon getting out of Jail when are these people she doing these things to going to find out she's dirty as heck. And everybody did, smh that girl Terri was crazy then a mother chicken hen, yes a mother chicken hen. Good book though can't wait to read part 2.

I had high expectations for this book. I really wanted to like it, especially since the author is from Ohio, and is called "The Queen of Urban Fiction."
BUT...
I wasn't that crazy about it.
It started off with a bang, and I was on fire, but somewhere along the line I honestly stopped caring about Red and what happened to her. It wasn't the story line, there were plenty of juicy tidbits, I just wished Ms Stringer had spent more time letting the story tell itself instead of explaining away all of the characters' motivations. She even quoted the old writer's adage Show, Don't Tell, yet she didn't adhere to it.
The ending though...
The ending redeemed most of the book's shortcomings. I was very glad I'd persevered to the end, it was sooo satisfying.

wanted to like this book but couldn't. Not happy with how it added to all the stereotypes of us urban folk. Thought I was going to enjoy the queen of urban fiction but she kinda pissed me off a disappointed me. I grew up in the projects. I know hood slang fluently, but it still hurt my head to read it so heavy in the dialog.

This book had my life for the several days I read jt ! This book was so hard to put down honestly the plots , secrets and jealously had my mind spinning. This author can definitely write a book that’s impossible to put down! Currently reading part 2.

I really enjoyed the book. Although there were some in consistencies. Like how they claim Red is 18 but goes way back to 1995 to show when she met Blue at 15. But I love the secondary story-lines too about her friends and their lives. Especially the whole Terry- Mekel- Kera thing. Loved it. Overall it was a nice read. But if you think too much like me the inconsistencies may annoy you a little bit.

filthy! I knew the subject matter would be "gritty" but this just seemed like the author was just trying to be as filthy as possible with no real story line.
I quit reading it after a few pages when it was clear it was nasty and just going to be more of the same.

Hated it and would not recommend it at all.

I have my guilty pleasures and reading "street lit" is one of them. So I am not looking for great writing, but I couldn't get in to this. Triflin characters from the start( so I could feel for anybody. Then the story line goes from okay to bad with the ending the worst.

Best series I've ever read! Hands Down! I got through every book and never got bored... That's 4 books and I never got bored... I couldn't even finish 50 Shades because by the end of book 2, I was bored and because I have ADHD. I love this series. It ended perfectly and there was never a moment of dullness. As messed up as Red is, you can't help but cheer her on through the entire series. It's so good even my husband was invested and got upset when I finished it while he was at work. He made me listen to it again, which was still interesting the second time. It took me a while to get through it because I work a full-time job and have 3 kids so I was only able to listen to it at night when the kids were asleep otherwise, I would have probably listened to all four books within a month. Vickie's story herself is interesting. She's an amazing author and knows how to keep the story exciting! I can't wait to see what else she will be releasing!

I listened to this on audio thanks to Hoopla Digital. Let me just say Red was a hot ass mess. Hearing how she was molested as a child and how her sorry ass mother turned a blind eye to it really shed light on why she was the way she was. All that lying, omg. I was rolling my eyes at her giving all that money to Q toward the end. Chile boo. She should have kept that money and driven off into the sun set. Over a mill and she'd be able to buy all new things instead of going back to the house where Bacon got a hold of her. You never win when you're dirty and I honestly can't wait to see what happens next.

So I just got done reading Dirty Red. I really enjoyed the book I’m ready to get started I will Still Dirty Red which is a book number two in the Dirty Red series.

This book was basically about a woman named Red would do whatever she had to do to get what she get wanted rather it is to backstab or blackmail her friends or man nothing is going to stop her from her goal. Well maybe Q will. I’ll be finding out in Still Dirty.

Dirty Red was fire! I started out reading Low down and Dirty, and was so confused by all the characters that were thrown my way in the first 5 minutes of the book. I then realized that this novel was a part of a series!!! I am so pleased with the thrill in this book and am beyond happy that the saga continues! I justify all of Red's actions even though some of them are GRIIIIMEY!!! But I can't wait to read what happens next! great Job Stringer!!!

It took me a bit to get into the storyline, and once I did I wasn't hooked but I did enjoy it.
Raven, 'Red' is the master schemer and is always looking out for an extra buck. She signs on the dotted line, gets men to pay her way and plans all sorts of revenge. In the end she finds that this isn't the way to live one's life as you risk losing it all.

Talk about Carmen. Some times it’s better to let things go. In a way I feel sorry for Red but she kept getting herself in all these different situations. She did this to herself. Her so call girlfriends were just as ruthless as she was. Some friends.

This book was messed up from page ONE! I devoured this book and the series that followed. Vickie M. Stringer has put together a series that you will hate to be finished with! I am reading a recommended book at the moment, but I am coming back to this author for her other books!
