There's a bit of an improvement in this second sequel of the series. Like the first book High Witch, Witch Emerging is a quick and easy fantasy read that you can finish in one or two sittings. This time, there are additional important characters to read about.

The storyline of the book expands when Brayden and Ariel, now a married coupe and are expecting a child, are on a quest to find the other existing High Witch in order to protect her against possible threats. However, it's difficult to trace her when the baby in Ariel's womb is exhibiting some strange power that troubles them. Meanwhile, the other High Witch known as Hallie is being pursued by a warlock named Nicholas who is on a mission of revenge.

There were things that I liked in this book including the writing of the author which apparently improved. The characters were given much depth and there was also enough "creep factor" that kind of made my hair raise on the back of my neck. (I started reading this witch book at 2AM so you can basically imagine the freaky feeling I've had.)

"Watch out for the little witch, with golden hair on her head. She'll say your name and your fingers will twitch, and then you'll end up dead."

I wasn't fully convinced by the action in this book, though. For me, that aspect fell short. I was looking for a real elaboration of action scenes, like how the casting of spells are done, how they fight an enemy using their power, etc. And I'm not just talking about the descriptions via characters' dialogues. I want more showing and less talking.

All in all, it was a good sequel. It was better than the first book for sure. Although there were elements that were missing here, a few things however, stood out. For fans of witch and fantasy books, I recommend you to check this series out. :)

(Thank you to the author Mona Hanna for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!)

With the second instalment in her High Witch series Hanna takes the original storyline for a bit of a ride. She returns with the same brilliant storytelling that we’ve come to know her for, mixing reality with fantasy and magic to create a world unlike any you’ve read about yet still entirely believable. Hanna has also mastered the art of alluding to a scene or event without ever really talking about it. This allows her to cover a large amount of ground in her story, and do so quickly, without losing the readers interest and without them feeling lost or left behind.

With this novel, Hanna takes some of her original cast and continues to develop them. By this point, as a reader you’ve come to know them quite well. She also introduces new characters who are completely different from the rest, yet very approachable in their own rights. Honestly, my main pet peeve with this novel is also said main character’s selflessness and need to help others. It is taken to the extreme where she has absolutely no sense of self preservation. You’ve got to love her for it, but at the same time you wonder what she’s thinking. The cast of this novella, although small, is perfect for the story that Hanna presents. It also leads to some phenomenally captivating couples. Hanna creates such sweet couples in her writing. Even with all the issues that they have and that they encounter, they still live for one another. It’s a rarity, and makes your heart ache for them.

As a whole, this was a great second instalment in the High Witch series. Hanna doesn’t leave you with a cliffhanger, but she does leave you wanting more and with the knowledge that these characters will be back again in the future.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author/publisher/blog tour company in exchange for an honest review.

This book was Exceptional, what an exciting wonderful book. It's about a couple witches, their significant others, and the journey they go through together.

Hallie is a witch who is sad, and lonely at the beginning of the book, always being teased. She has magic that she can't control, and comes out when she gets mad. Her home life, and relationship with her parents, has much to be desired. There is one person who is her friend, and always has been, his name is Sean, they have known each other since they were 8, and he has always stood up for her, against the teasing.

Then there is Ariel a high witch who is a powerful, and practiced witch. She is going through her own problems, and terror. With her husband Brayden by her side. They go through an absolutely horrific set of events.

Then Ariel seeks out Hallie, to warn her of danger. The 4 people Hallie, Ariel, Sean, and Brayden, become fast friends. It's a good thing, since they have quite an adventure together, have to trust each other, and rely on each other to have any chance at a good ending.

It was really fun watching how Hallie came out of her shell, and became such a different person throughout the book. The characters are versatile, and relatable. I didn't want to put this book down, I would highly recommend this book it's a great story. With excellent quality writing.

I remember reading the first book in this series (High Witch) and I am trying to decide if I liked it as much as I've liked Witch Emerging!! I want to say that I liked the first volume but for some reason I loved the second one even more.

The plot of the book still brings us in front both Ariel and Brayden but also two new important characters, Hallie and Sean. There is a bond between Ariel and Hallie and what that is I will not say since you should find out for yourselves!

As those who have read the first book might remember, Ariel is pregnant. The child she bears brings to light a truth that Brayden and Ariel would not have wanted to be real since it might come with consequences.

The author brought us a new story, the story and life of Hallie and Sean, fact which made me unsure at the beginning (since I was curious what Ariel and Brayden were up to) but it turned out even better than I have expected since I also liked the new characters very much.

I loved the fact that the chapters switch between the life of Ariel and Brayden and the one of Hallie and Sean. It was a refreshing idea and it made me even more curious about what was going to happen.

The appearance of Nicholas, the negative character of the book, had its place well decided since the beginning of the book. His true motives of revenge are mistaken by Ariel and when they are revealed they also bring back some memories that need to be forgotten.

Author Hanna brings us again a lovely volume in which fantasy and romance blend really smoothly with the normal lives of the characters. Every chapter leaves you wanting to read the next one, making you curious about what is going to happen and the ending of the book was a good one, making me eager to think about what volume 3 will surprise us with.

Witch Emerging is almost double in length in comparison with High Witch fact for which you can enjoy more pages. I did not even feel that the book was bigger since I have read it faster than the first one so don't be scared by the page length if you're a light reader!

Quotes:

"She looked at him, her breath caught in her throat, and her heart starting to beat faster. He gazed at her intently, then slowly leaned in closer. He took the handkerchief out of her hand and touched her face, grazing her skin with the tips of his fingers. She could barely breathe she was so nervous. He moved his lips to hers and kissed her."

"Before she knew it, the taller woman had her in a hug, holding her closely while Hallie wept against her shoulder. She felt like a fool, like an idiot, crying in the arms of a stranger, but she couldn't help it. The relief, the fact that she nearly had answers - it was like a dam had burst, with all her years of holding back and hiding who she was coming to a head. Maybe she'd finally learn the truth. Maybe she could finally stop being afraid."

This review and many more over at The Bibliophile Chronicles!

Ariel and Brayden are back, and this time they’re facing a new threat.

Ariel and Brayden have been married for a week, but they already have a lot on their plate. Ariel is pregnant, but something isn't quite right with the pregnancy, and the parents to be are worried about their future child. Ariel is also desperate to find the other high witches, to ensure they never face what she went through with Julius.

Hallie is a young woman who fled from her childhood home in order to make a life somewhere where no one knew she was a witch. With a broken heart she takes up residence in a new town, with a new job. She wants to forget her childhood, the times when her magic was uncontrollable and she hurt people. But a stranger comes to town, someone who knows all about her past. He needs Hallie for his revenge plan, and will stop at nothing to get her, not even killing the man she loves.

This is the sequel to High Witch, and I'm afraid it just wasn't for me. I thought the first book had potential, and so decided to dive into the second book, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Like the first book, Witch Emerging is incredibly short, and I felt it was over before it really began. I ended up reading it in two sittings because it was such a quick read. In that respect it’s a quick, easy and enjoyable read. The story does also have some action packed scenes and answers some of the questions we are left with about Ariel’s past in book one.

This story kind of frustrated me, because I felt it had so much potential, and veered off in the opposite direction from what I wanted it to do. I wanted two kick-ass high witches who didn’t let anyone blackmail or kidnap them, instead the story is mainly filled with romantic scenes of hair kissing and the man telling the woman that everything will be okay. I also didn't really understand how Hallie can have her heart broken by Sean when he tells her he wants to be with her – but not the way she is now, she has to change – then he disappears without a word for two years, turns up on her doorstep and everything is fine, they’re together and happy and living together.

I also felt the story was a little predictable, a man who looks like Julius is out for revenge, who could be possibly be and what could he possibly want revenge for? I felt that the action scenes and the moments of Ariel and Hallie learning about magic were brushed over in favour of hand holding and kissing. I guess this series falls more into the category of romance with a touch of fantasy, as opposed to the other way around. The story does have it’s moments of intrigue, there’s a couple of interesting action scenes and Hallie having visions of Ariel and blood did spark my intrigue. If you've read the first book, it is a quick and easy read and will answer some of your questions from earlier in the series, but overall, just wasn't for me.

I was given a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Ariel is a High Witch and there can only be three at the same time in the world. Ariel grew up not knowing what she was and not knowing about her powers and what they were. She didn't have anyone to help her use her powers or help her to control them. So Ariel has made it her mission in life to find the other High Witches and help them. She wants to help them learn to control their powers and to also keep them safe and keep them from hurting anyone.

Ariel and Brayden have married and are going to have a baby. Ariel realizes that something is not right with her pregnancy and wants to find out what is wrong if anything is wrong that is. Her baby is doing magic from her womb. Brayden is afraid for Ariel and their child and wants to take care of both of them and keep them safe because Ariel and their child is his life. He could not live if he ever lost Ariel she is his soulmate. But the only thing Brayden wants is to make Ariel happy that is his only concern in life well except for their unborn child.

Hallie is a High Witch like Ariel but she doesn't know it. Hallie has always tried to keep her powers under control and not use them because she doesn't want to hurt anyone. The only time she ever uses them is if she gets upset. You know if someone makes her mad then she usually has no control over them. Hallie has known Sean for most of her life and has always cared for him a lot but she would never tell him because she was always to afraid and shy. Sean has always loved and cared for Hallie as well but would not tell her. Sean always took up for her ever since they were children. He would not let the other children bully her he would always come to her rescue.

I read about Ariel and Brayden's story in High Witch and I loved reading their story so I just had to read Hallie and Sean's story as well. I am glad that I got to read more about Ariel and Brayden in Witch Emerging too. I love reading books about witches and Mona has not disappointed me in the least with the second book in the High Witch series. I can't wait to read the third book High Coven. If you love reading books about witches then you should give the High Witch series a try. I don't think you will be disappointed in the least.

Disclaimer: Got this book from a Booklikes giveaway, this review is my personal opinion and I didn´t get any gratification for it.
Book type: Kindle ebook

When I got this book, I didn´t know anything about the series.
Surprisingly that didn´t matter so much at the beginning, because there were a lot of references to the first book, I pretty much got the picture.

I simply liked the tone of the book & its characters, it´s pretty easy to understand them & their doings in their own way, because you read it and think "yeah, I can relate, I have been there/ was almost closed to that point once, too"

And that´s one of the most important points a good book can reach.

Although we have some realism, drama, vengence & personal pain, we also got fairy tale cliche, but seriously, I don´t mind. The world needs such story.

If you look for a comfortable lightly dark fantasy witches series, go for it.

In the meantime, I go & buy the paperback editions.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in a series and the author has grown since the first book. This book expands on the first by adding a little more to its storyline; as well as, creating a new one. The character development is done wonderfully and you find yourself endeared to the characters. The storyline is amazing and grips you from the beginning. I would recommend this to anyone who loves magic, paranormal romance. I look forward to reading more from the author.

Ariel and Brayden's story continues with them expecting a child. This child is magical unlike any the world has known before. Both parents continue to display innocent characteristics. They know they must find the other two High Witches, all the time wondering if Ariel's survival altered the rules.
We meet a younger High Witch, Hallie, who is learning to control her magic as Ariel had to in the first book. She has a protector, Sean, a childhood friend. When he returns I don't care for him. My first impression is that he is being manipulated as Brayden had been with dreams. He never feels sincere to me. It took a while but I was happy to see some growth in his character.
Because of the recurring themes in this second book I feel the reader should start this series at the beginning. The characters from book one begin to recognize the same patterns they endured, but this time the evil one is after revenge before anything else.

Witch Emerging is a sweet paranormal romance with likable characters in an interesting plot. It's fast-paced—I read it in one sitting. The story alternates between characters Ariel and Brayden and Hallie and Sean, until their shared destines draw them together.

I enjoyed the characters in this story, especially Hallie and Ariel. The guys, Sean and Brayden are quite sweet as well. Hallie and Ariel are both High Witches. Ariel's story is told in book one, High Witch. In this story, Hallie is the one hunted for her powers by a dark warlock, Nicholas. Hallie is terrified of her powers, and has been mocked for years when she accidentally shows them.

I like how Ariel and Brayden continue their story in this novel. Ariel is pregnant and exhibiting some strange symptoms. The first book was so short, it's nice to be able to continue with these characters. The dialogue is well-written and flows nicely. I really liked the ending and the epilogue. Definitely left me feeling happy. If you like paranormal stories with sweet romance and witches, then this is the book for you.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book in any ways.

I liked few things about this book. I found the story of the three High Witches quite interesting, how there could only be 3 of them and their power. I also like how Ariel and her daughter could join their power to cast a spell together.

But those are probably all I liked about this book. I was fascinated by no character at all, and I found Hallie exceptionally annoying. She was holding back her power, even though someone was threatening to KILL the one she loved. And when she did use her power, she started to feel guilty about it. What? I mean, that guy threatened to KILL your loved one.
And there was just too many kissing scenes. There was no depth whatsoever in both or the relationships, all I saw was kissing and love-making.
The ending took too long to come. Everything was resolved and it took 2-3 chapters for the story to really end.

I was given an ARC of this from NET GALLEY in exchange for an honest review.

After surviving their encounter with Julius, who had been hunting high witch "Ariel" in order to turn her and extend his life. She and Brayden are settling into a normal married life. Finding out she is pregnant, Ariel quickly learns that not all is at seem with the pregnancy and now she has to contend with a magical baby and her quest to find the other high witches.

The second installment of this series finds Ariel and Brayden travelling to help another High Witch, whilst contending with their own troubles that come with a magical pregnancy.

I can't say i am a fan of this series. As an adult I found this book like the first one to be a little lacking in something i can't quite put my finger on. It didn't grab me and make me feel like i couldn't put it down.

I wouldn't recommend this to an adult audience but i would maybe recommend it to a slightly younger audience. It's nice! It's not a particularly hard going read and it doesn't get very dark, so younger audiences would probably enjoy this far more than i did.

I have it 2 stars.

I received the entire High Witch series in exchange for my honest opinion. In this second book I am still enjoying the story, but some things really stand out for me. I'm not sure whether this is supposed to be a romance with some magic, or a fantasy with some romance. In either case, there is more sex than I would deem necessary to advance the story/show the relationships between characters. I also need to comment on the frequency of the use of the word amazing. It rivals a 21st century entertainment report, is highly annoying, detracts from the story, and doesn't seem to fit with an era in which people get around by carriage, on foot, and by horse. Also, considering the semi-implied era, it seemed remarkably easy for both men and women to find gainful employment. There were some glaring grammatical errors in this book that I found distracting. Still, I'm eager to see what the high witch is up to in book three...

This is a shorter length novel that is #2 in the High Witch series. I did not read book one and didn't have too difficult of a time figuring out what was happening. Ariel (from book 1) is happily married and expecting a child. She has a dream of her playing with her daughter, another high witch. This distresses her because there can only be 3 high witches so she knows one will die. She travels to find Hallie who has a dream that Ariel is going to be stabbed and die. Together they must work to stop the evil Nicholas and save both their lives. An enjoyable story of magic and witches.

Which Emerging #2

The book was good, I gave it 4 stars only because I felt there wasn't enough action against the bad guy. He had more coming to him. I am not big on romance, so those parts of the story were a little too much. Otherwise, the story was smooth, just could have been better.
