3.8 Stars - Nice and pleasant PNR hero series - a lovely and promising start

A eight hours m/f PNR audio. I got the ebook for free more than a year ago. It was time to listening to the added audio I now also got.

Why has this book remained unread in my reader for over a year? It's really good, and in a genre (PNR) I always like. And no friends have read it either... Strange and quite unusual... ~ Or is it this great male narrator Kevin Scollin that raises this so much? Is it the audiobook?

***********************************************************

From the blurb:
“Noah is from another world and his sole purpose is to hunt down the evil of his people that was unleashed on Earth hundreds of years ago. He's certain he isn't going to be able to return to his home, and anger and the need for revenge are his constant companions.”

This book and the series makes me think of the books about the Black Dagger Brotherhood and all the hunky vampires and their love stories. The Light Within Me is a bit in the same style. ~ They all have their own separate alien color (eye color). They have their own characteristic style, appearance, etc.

...We have seen this phenomenon since we first met Snow White's seven dwarf friends. Not new, but generally a good base for a series. I also like it when it's the guys who are the real main characters.

***********************************************************

The Six Saviors are six male, muscular, strong warrior who came to Earth from the far away planet SR44 200 years ago. They are here to execute and save us all from 12 criminals who escaped from their prison camp ("the Colony"). ~ These Six Saviors are Noah, Hudson, Talin, Cohen, Rayner and Jovan. I will not reveal more about them or the plot. It's best to be suprised by it all.

~ This is the leader Noah's book. ~

(Next to read or listen to in this series: #2 - Finding My Faith, Rayners book.)

***********************************************************

This was a pleasant and enjoyable start to this series. ...and two MC's to feel for.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

# The hero Noah Johnson, one of the best murder investigators and criminal profilers in the U.S., is huge, strong and kind of bear-like (jeans, leather boots, black shirts..). He is a perfectly attractive male, cute caring and irresistible with his somewhat sullen, stubborn alpha mannerism.

# The heroine, the lonely journalist Abby, is sweet, delightful beautiful (...yet a cute duckling with milky skin and auburn hair that soon will become a white womanly swan). Maybe she has, in the audiobook version, got a slightly squeaky and ridiculous girly voice, but otherwise I liked her (..and her cat).
“Abby,” he heard himself say quietly, “I think I'd like to kiss you.”
He watched her eyes flare slightly, and then they locked on his lips.
“Well, I don't see anything stopping you,” she whispered.’

***********************************************************

...A lovely amusing story and a very well narrated audiobook. It was Noah's story and it was truly perfect with a male narrator with a pleasantly raspy voice.

This is quite harmless, easy-going, kind, tender and partly innocent, but steamy and romantic hot at just the right frequency. Perfect for beginners to PNR, sci-fi and m/f (audult) contemporary romances with fantasy elements. I'm pleased - much better than expected!

I LIKE - a really nice one

BRIEF SUMMARY
On the planet of SR44, twelve murders called the colonists escaped to Earth. On the said planet, the military hand picked six combatants called six Saviors to track them. The six that were chosen each had their unique abilities that they bring to the group. The six Saviors are Noah, Hudson, Talin, Cohen, Rayner and Jovan. This is Noah’s story.

THOUGHTS

The first thing I should say about this book is that it has a mix genre feel to it. Although it has a sci-fi element to the storyline, the story took place on Earth and still had a modern feel as well. The author uses the first few chapters to set the foundation for the series as much of Noah’s life was explained and his purpose of being on Earth for two hundred and eleven years with the Savior members.

Noah’s character for me had a way about him that came of very appealing. The way he interacts with the other members was funny and very entertaining as they all lived together. The moment Noah sees Abby sets everything into motion with the plot. Abby is a journalist, both her and Noah’s first few interactions were awkward in a good way as you feel their chemistry growing. Noah is trying to stay away from Abby because of what he is and Abby is trying to get close to Noah while clueless of what’s going on around her. Abby’s life has never been pleasant growing up since her mother died. Always feeling different, shy and out of place, it made her feel like an outsider throughout her life. With everything that’s going on around them their romance was sweet as they made you feel like a teenager with a crush.

As for the plot, the colonists were creating havoc on Earth and leaving dead bodies wherever they go. In a few scenes you kind of have an idea how the plot would unfold, but had to have a time out as one particular secret caught me off guard; I did not see that one coming. As for the other members, all five Savior members Hudson, Talin, Cohen, Rayner and Jovan were just too yummy. Six guys over 6’5, great physique and living together makes for a good read. As for Hudson, if it wasn’t for Noah, he would have stolen the show for me within this book, loved him. He was also the chef of the house.

This is a promising series that I can honestly say if you aren’t a fan of sci-fi / fantasy, this book will get you a bit interested.

To be honest, I don't read romance often. I did this one because it was with aliens and they sounded quite awesome too.

Now let me add real quick that I have read a book similar to this one from another author. But let me also add that I am not in no way blaming this author. The other story, which also has a Noah as main character, was written many years after this one. What I found funny was that even the writing styles were similar. Still, even though I could guess what would happen I did enjoy the story and was eager to know how it would end.

Characters: I liked being in the heads of Noah and Abby. The third person close POV was well done in my opinion. I read in some reviews that some people think it was too much and not advancing the story. I say we have to remember that it is a love story first and all and it fleshed the characters thus advanced the story, which is even truer in romance. So I see no fault in there.

Story itself: well…as with all romance, it seems to be mold around the same style. Maybe I'm saying that because of the other book but still. Most romance I've read end up a bit similar in the end. That's why I choose the ones I read carefully.

Overall a good read that I would recommend to lovers of alien/non-human romance.

This review can also be found on my blog.

Newspaper journalist Abby needs a story, a really good one that will keep her gamefully employed. Unfortunately, her cop connections are remaining tight-lipped about the recent string of serial murders, so she turns her attention on Noah Johnson, the criminal profiler working the cases, with the intention of making him the focus of her story. Sparks and instant sizzle ignite between her and Noah, but little does she know just how big of a story he could really be.

There's a good reason why Noah is the best in the business. Not only is he not human, but he's had centuries to excel at what he does. Many years ago, twelve Colonists (convicted criminals) escaped his home planet SR44 and fled to Earth where they began committing violent crimes. Noah along with five other specially trained warriors were selected because of their individual abilities. Together they're known as the Six Saviors. Their mission was to hunt down the Colonists and eliminate them. It should have been an easy task, a quick in and out and then return home. That was 211 years ago. The Colonists had somehow managed to take on human forms and procreate causing their offspring to be potential threats as well. Abby's professional interest in him is a red flag. He knows he should stay away from her, but he's inexplicably drawn to the sweet human, something that has never happened to him in all his time on Earth. When she becomes the latest target of a Colonist, he would do anything to protect her, even if it means telling her the truth about his origins. Will her inquisitive nature about the universe in general help her to digest and accept him, and can she rely on the feelings of comfort and safety she's always felt in his presence?

This was my first read by author Carly Fall, and with this first in a series, I am HOOKED! Ms Fall's delightfully wicked, cheeky and snarky narrative brings the six warriors and the heroine to life making them instantly likeable, loveable and leaves you feeling invested in them. You also get a feel for each individual personality which seems to fit their unique abilities and vice versa. The brief history of their origins, their home world SR44, was very detailed – their society and way of living, their forms, colors, sights and sounds. With all that knowledge, the warrior's desire to return home was palpable and understandable.

Noah was just adorable. With his lack of experience with human females, he seemed almost shy and virginal, and he was also prone to screwing up occasionally. He was still an alpha male through and through, but with a soft side that made it easy to fall in love with him. Another endearing trait of his was his struggle with his growing feelings for Abby versus his feelings of revenge and longing for justice. Making him choose seemed almost cruel – the love of one over the safety of many? Pretty poignant question.

Abby was a wonderful heroine and counterpart for Noah. I liked her sense of humor and self-confidence around him, or maybe I should say her assertiveness. She didn't question his interest in her and just went with what felt natural, and that made their relationship feel believable to me. That was a refreshing change from the insecure heroines I'm used to reading about. Another point in her favor was that she listened to him when he tried to tell her how to stay safe. I often bristle when heroines mistake the hero's protectiveness for being overbearing or trying to tell them what to do and they just walk right into trouble. Not Abby. She took it and ran with it, literally.

There were some interesting twists that I suspected or even found a little predictable, but it was more fun seeing the characters taken by surprise. This story had a lot of suspense and a healthy dose of sizzling heat, but I enjoyed the sweet, romantic factor the most. The characters showed their vulnerabilities which made me feel invested in them. I'm about to start Rayner's story in Finding My Faith. I can't wait to buy the entire series in PB!

I'm not entirely sure why I finished this book. There were many things in this book that usually annoy me to the point of not being able to continue reading, I almost set this book down several times, but I did finish so here goes.
Firstly, there were many parts in this read when I felt as though I was reading something written by a college student...some good plotline going on but just basic character development and ALOT of grammatical errors. Some were so bad that I had to reread earlier parts to understand what was going on. A lot of the epiloge and dialect was extremley cliché and overused, not once did I think to myself "Huh, that's a really cool way to explain that."...but everything I have read somewhere before. Also, a lot of the characters traits and behaviors are hypocritical of eachother and just don't make sense. For example: take the main hero, Noah. he is portrayed as being dedicated, loyal and a trained soldier...the best in fact. He has been serving his planet and people for hundreds of years on earth but once he meets Abby he all of a sudden is ok with basically cheating on his wife back on his home planet. The author chalks it up to being ok because he "never loved her", and he "wasn't ever planning to return home anyway.". I'm sorry but a man like Noah (if a man like him truly existed), would not be ok with that. He wouldn't make excuses and he wouldn't try to justify it... he would continue with life as it and get the job done that he was sent to do, then he would return to his loveless marriage intact on his own planet.
I didn't like the fact that without looking I could tell that this story was written by a woman. I like happy love stories as well as the next girl but don't give me men that act like women in the story, its a dealbreaker for me. I'm talking about the bachelor pad back at Noahs...if that many men lived together drinking, listening to loud music and playing pool as often as the author indicates the house wouldn't be immaculate all the time as described, the men also have a lot of "tender" moments together as well. That just...doesn't happen, no matter what planet men are from. Barf! Men are men, that's why we love them.
Overall I wouldn't reccomend this book or series to anyone, and due to the writing style (or lack there of) of the author I doubt I would read anything by her again.

This was a freebie I picked up some time ago though I don’t remember when for the life of me. I was going up and down my list of books trying to figure out what I was in the mood for when I spotted this one and decided “Sci-Fi romance! That’s what I’m feeling”. I’d heard no buzz at all about this one and had never even heard of the author so I had no preconceptions at all.
So I was rather pleased when I found myself quite enjoying in. Noah is one of a group of six warriors that has come to Earth from another planet when a number of nasty criminals escaped from his and made their way to Earth where they have wreaked havoc for over 200 years. Now the beings on the planet, SR44 are kind of human-like, they aren’t really human so in order to avoid detection and capture the six warriors have taken on human forms.

When they first landed they thought they would only be here a short time before they could head home but that’s not the way things have turned out. Some are slowly realizing that they may never make it back as the Colonists as the bad guys are called, have mated with human women and they progeny have to be tracked too.

Over time Noah has taken on the role of leader and is currently tracking down a real nasty Colonist who is slashing throats. He works as kind of a profiler and the local cops call him when a murder sounds like the ones he is tracking.

Abby is our heroine and works as a reporter on the crime beat. She feels an affinity to this as her own mother was murdered years ago. She sees Noah in a photo and decides to do a story on him. He reluctantly agrees to meet her and when they meet in person, there is a very strong connection and attraction between the two of them. But Noah can’t let it go anyway because if he does, he is stuck in his human form and starts to age normally. This would mean he could never go home again.

There was such a sense of loneliness with Abby. She had no family and she had never really fit in with anyone. She had very few friends and only lackluster relationships with guys. She is just different somehow. So when she connects with Noah, she falls deep and she falls quick.
Noah has also experienced a great deal of loneliness over the years even though he’s had the other 5 Warriors with him. With Abby he doesn’t feel this sense of being alone though. The more he sees of her the more he feels for her but he has to balance that with what he will lose if he continues this relationship.

I liked both Noah and Abby as well as the rest of the Warriors. I don’t know if there have been any made but I could see possible connections with the Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward but I found this book more mainstream even though it’s a Paranormal/SciFi. I found both the main characters well rounded and interesting. I liked the conflict they experienced. When I finished this one I went back to check out the rest of the series and discovered the first six books bundled together for under $10 on Amazon and I had no hesitation picking it up. I want to find out what happens to the rest of them now.

The Run Down: Abby is a crime reporter for a Reno newspaper. After her mother was killed when she was only ten, she struggled to find her own identity as a person. Her life is mundane and boring, and although she craves more, she cannot quite put her finger on why she feels so different from other people. She can't quite figure out what to do to shake up the monotony that is her life.

Noah, one of six warriors from the SR44 alien race, has come to earth in a human body on a mission. Several criminals from his planet have escaped to earth and now live among humans, murdering and wreaking havoc whenever and wherever they can. The mission of the Six Saviors is simple, take out all of the alien criminals and their half-human, evil offspring, before they can return back to their home planet. Hundreds of years later, Noah and his five companions are still on earth, hunting down their foes. Many of them have lost hope of ever going home, some still hold out hope that their mission will be completed and that they will once again return to their former lives.

When Abby contacts Noah, who poses as a criminal profiler in order to gain access to crime scenes, for an interview for the paper, the two meet and their worlds collide. Noah, who knows he will lose his immortality and the SR44 form within his human body if he succumbs to love, does his best to fight his feelings for Abby, but to no avail. He faces the decision between continuing on his path of vengeance and completing his mission, or giving it all up for love.

When it becomes clear that one of the criminals from his planet is targeting Abby, Noah will protect her at all costs.

What I liked about this book: I am not much for books about aliens, but I thought that this book had alot of original ideas. I loved the way the planet SR44 was described and the fact that each person on the planet possessed their own unique color. At night, the warriors' alien forms show through their eyes by a colorful glow; Noah's eyes glow orange.

I also liked how the author used the villians in this book to explain popular murderers and serial killers across history. Famous figures like Saddam Hussein, Charles Manson, and Jack the Ripper, were all part of the alien race of ruthless criminals escaped from the warriors' home planet.
Another thing I liked about this book was how fresh and likeable Abby was as a character. She is pretty but doesn't know it, suffers from a bit of depression because her life isn't what she would have hoped it would be, and she tends to embarrass herself quite often, something a clumsy girl like me can really identify with. I loved how Noah was so crazy about her from the beginning, flaws and all.

What I didn't like about this book: I am really at a loss on this one, as there wasn't much I didn't like about this book. I usually tend to be turned off by the mention of brands and names in books, but even that didn't bother me in this one. I was so caught up in the story that I didn't care when the names of popular brands or brands of food or beers were mentioned several times. I just did care.

At first I was disappointed by the fact that I knew almost immediately who the criminal is that is stalking Abby. It doesn't take much to put the pieces together. But as I continued to read, I was engaged by all the other surprising turns that the story took and I quickly forgot about that.

Let's Talk About Love Scenes: The sensual scenes in this book start off slow and them progress to scorching. In the beginning, Noah is resistent because the men of his race will lose their SR44 alien forms if they fall in love and make love to the woman they love. They will become mortals and begin to age. Noah, who has spent hundreds of years hunting down the evil criminals from his planet, fights with all he has not to lose his head and his alien form. However, as things heat up between him and Abby, he comes dangerously close to losing it. I could really feel Noah's inner struggle as he fought to maintain his composure, while still exploring the new feelings that Abby was bringing out in him.

Overall: This book was a great paranormal read. It was by far one of my favorite review books of the year. I loved all of the little plot twists that kept the story going. When it is revealed why Abby has always felt so different, and why she has always been so dissatisfied with her life, I was floored. It was a twist I wasn't expecting, and it was little things like this that kept the story going for me.

The second book in the Six Saviors series is due out in March, and I am really looking forward to it. If it is anything like The Light Within Me, then it promises to be a very entertaining read.

Abby has never felt like she fit in anywhere. Her mother was killed when she was just a child, and now Abby works the crime beat at a local paper to feed her interest in unsolved murders. She's never really connected with anyone, until she catches a glimpse of Noah in a crime scene photo. She's so drawn to him that she tracks him down and asks him for an interview, setting in motion a chain of events that will change her life forever.

Noah is an alien from another planet. He and five other warriors traveled to Earth 200 years ago to track down a band of criminals that escaped their penal colony. The "Six Saviors" live their lives committed to their cause. They can't go home until the criminals (and possibly their offspring) are contained. And to keep them focused, they are prevented from ever feeling ultimate pleasure. If they do, they forfeit their longevity and their alien form --and are forced to live the rest of their lives as humans.

Noah has never so much as kissed a human woman. He's never really had the urge to take the risk, until he meets Abby. The two have an instant connection that he struggles to fight. His honor insists that he put his mission first, but the more time he spends will Abby, the harder it is keep his priorities straight. He tries to keep his distance. But all of that goes out of the window when one of the "colonists" targets Abby.

There were some things I really liked about the story. The writing is good. The world building is simple and easy to understand. Noah is a sexy virgin with a solid sense of morality. I really liked him and I enjoyed getting to know his fellow warriors. The author does a good job giving each man his own voice, which kept them from all blurring together in my head. I thought the interactions between Noah and Abby were hot, even though we had to wait awhile for them to seal the deal. And I found myself really rooting for them to make it work.

I really only had two complaints. One was the predictability. The moment I heard Abby "never really felt comfortable in her own skin," I knew why. One element of her history did manage to surprise me, but the bigger picture was easy to see coming. And while the climax was still exciting, I knew who the bad guy was very early on. My other issue is --one of my biggest peeves-- is Love Too Soon. Noah and Abby spent two days in each other's company before the "L-word" started flying. A few more dates, even off-page, would have gone a long way to helping with the believability of their deeper emotions.

Those issues aside, I did enjoy the book. It had good pacing; interesting characters; and some steamy scenes. I will definitely check out the next installment. 3 1/2 stars.

OK, first let's talk about this cover. Yum-me. I could take a slice of that cake.

Second, let's talk about my love-fest. Yes. Love. Fest. There is *so* much to love about this book. The voice is magnificent. This author gets you to that level of emotion that is so missing from many books. From the first page, you are right inside Noah's head. And I mean right inside. The writing is so natural, you really think it's him talking to you, telling a story.

Abby is also a great character. So well drawn and believable. The author takes time with her emotions and thoughts, building up believable reactions to everything thrown at her. And there's this one scene where Abby's in danger, OMG, I was on the edge of my seat!

The ensemble cast is dee-lish-us. All these savior dudes are hunka hunka burning love-fests. It's an orgy of beefcake. Not that I've ever partaken in an orgy (or have I? LOL ), but if I were to partake, I'd partake with these guys. Not since the Lords Of the Underworld series have I met a more delightful cast of swoon-worthy characters.

So, what drew this rating down from a 5 star review?
1. Lots of grammatical errors. Onesies or twosies I'll deal with. It was almost as if this author was writing so fast to get the words out, she missed some stuff. Hell, if I were writing this book, I'd be writing fast too!
2. The wrap up left a lot being desired. OK, so we have this situation where things aren't looking good, and the answer to fix it all is love. Got it. But then, we skip ahead when it's all said and done, and I was like, WFT? *HOW* did they fix it? It was like the author took a short-cut, or didn't know how this fixin' truly worked, so she glossed over it instead of writing about it. I felt a little cheated, like she'd short-sheeted my bed.
3. I'm jealous I didn't write it. OK, that one doesn't really count, and had no impact on my rating. Just saying.

Seriously, if you like PNR romance, read this book. I'm continuing with the series, and adding it my Series to Keep Reading list.

BRIEF SUMMARY

Noah is an alien warrior from the planet of SR44 and along with 5 other warriors, they have been sent to Earth to hunt and kill the Colonist that escaped SR44 to reek havoc on Earth. After over 200 years on Earth and only capturing half of the Colonists, Noah is growing frustrated and bored. Abbey never felt "normal" like she didn't belong, she is also a reporter trying to hold onto a job she hates. Abby and Noah meets while working on the latest murder case and immediately, sparks fly. Neither Abbey nor Noah has ever felt this comfort with another person, a feeling of belonging. Is Noah ready to give up his mission as a warrior to live out his life as a human and can Abby understand that Noah is from out of this world?

THOUGHTS

Wow what a great story! Noah and Abbey are drawn together and later learn they are more alike than they think. Abby also gains a father in the process. The characters are well developed. You want Noah and Abby together at any cost. The warriors were great characters and I can definitely see future stories about them. This book has plenty of romance and some action along with a little fantasy. A great book to get lost in and I think the author did an excellent job.

The Light With Me by Carly Fall
The Six Savior's Series Book 1
Noah is from out of this world. Literally. He is from the planet SR44. Sent here, to earth, with five of his warrior brothers to recapture twelve escapees from the Colony. Twelve men who are evil to the core. What was to be a quick mission has turned into over two hundred years. Noah is existing not living, that is until he meets Abby.

Abby has never felt that she fit in anywhere or with anyone. When she meets Noah to ask him about the work he does as a criminal profiler with the police she suddenly has a peaceful feeling. Like she's finally come home. Only life isn't that easy and there is more to Noah than meets the human eye.

This was a unique paranormal. The six men from SR44 are given unique warrior bodies for their stay on earth, but those bodies come with certain restrictions. There are life changing choices for our hero and heroine and some unique surprises as well. This first book in the series gives the reader a taste that will definitely bring them back to savor the rest of the stories of these men. The author did an excellent job of creating unique characters and personalities for each warrior.

What I liked: This author weaves a good story, and does so with skill. Noah, who is 522 years old, comes to Earth to capture the criminal colonists who had escaped from their planet that they had been placed on. Once there, he meets Abby. She strikes something in him, even though he is not quite familiar with relationships with Earth women. He fights it, of course, but they are just too good together. As the story progresses, they both learn important things about themselves, and about what they need to do. In sum, I do think this was well written. The author cast believable characters, and the story caught me. And I sure would not mind reading more about these characters.

What I didn’t like: Too much sex, and too much graphic sex. I’d like to see less sex and less relationship development reliant on it, and more other plotty stuff in any book, including this one.

In sum: This is a really good story, one for the sci fi - romance fans, but be advised that there is a lot of sex. For the erotica lovers, this is a 5-star book.

Gahhh - error when saving my review so I'm attempting it again:

I like that the author included a background on Noah and the other Saviors: their planet, Noah's life before, etc. I also love the idea of the colors.

Noah, and the other Saviors, are your typical (and predictable) gorgeous bad-ass guys. They each have a special talent (though Noah's is being a warrior), which are needed throughout the book. Plus it makes sense as to why they were included in the mission to begin with.

Abby is a decent character. Her lack of personality and drive kind of make sense as the book progresses, but ultimately she was a bit bland for my tastes. Also, I think a big crutch in this book was the fact that, to save money, Abby goes home every day for lunch. WHAT? How about, to save money, Abby makes lunch and brings it to work every day. Seriously, how long are her lunch breaks?

Overall this book has a lot of romance. And some mystery. I figured out the villain much faster than the characters in the book, which was a big disappointment.

I downloaded this ebook for free from an Amazon promotion. I believe the author has an excellent and intriguing Sci-Fi opportunity but lost sight of it developing a romance novel. The group of 6 alien badass "saviors" were hardly "badass" at all, particularly Noah, their uber tough leader. Also, Why would an alien call their home world SR44, a sterile astrological chart designation? Do we not call our home world Earth, a familiar name? Why would they not do the same?

I'll stand by my 2-star rating of OK. I enjoyed the book for the most part. A bit more science and fiction and a bit less soft porn and emasculating emotion by the "men" would have, in my opinion, made this a much more interesting story. Please recognize that this is only my opinion as a regular Sci-Fi reader.

I haven't read many alien type books, the first few pages of this really drew me in. I liked the premise and it was a different kind of read for me and I liked the characters, but I almost felt like I didn't get to know them well enough, especially the other warriors, we only get a glimpse of them and small interactions, so more of that would be nice.

This Review was first published on my blog Lecture toute une Aventure

Again a series I discover when it’s finished or nearly … I missed the 6 first books and now that I’ve read book1 I do regret not having read it before.

Carly Fall created an interesting universe and I enjoyed a lot her vivid descriptions of SR44 where the inhabitants are made of colourful smoke, she took the time to describe their environment but also their culture and ways of life and the history. For this story I think it was something really important because without it I couldn’t have related to the six saviours, I wouldn’t have understood their dilemma, their mindset as well as I did. It’s the first book but it gives us solid background info to immerse ourselves in the universe she created.

Noah is a warrior but a disillusioned one … he lost hope to go back on his planet one day since it’s only possible if they complete the mission that was assigned to them. Unfortunately, the one who prepared the said mission didn’t take a lot of things into account … if it was really short one the absence of contact with their world and family was understanding but the situation they are confronted to is way worse than the one they were told and believed… hundred years later the mission is far from completed and like all warrior Noah is wearing down. He still has pride and he does it job but he is dull. Worse they were told they couldn’t love or they would loose their immortality or slow aging and their original form making a return impossible. So when the bad guys are reproducing and killing, the good one are alone with only their mission as an objective.

Really, I had some difficulties to understand why they didn’t give up before and I admire their courage… alone in another world without anything from home that must be hard and I can’t understand that those who send them didn’t think of something if it was longer than they expected, no they are just left to themselves. Noah is their elected chief, so it’s even more responsibility for him but until now he managed. However when he meets Abby, he is attracted to her and her voices without understanding why…for the first time he is smiling again and hoping even if he is fighting his attraction putting his duty before everything else.

Abby is different from other, she never really fitted and the dead of her mother when she was a child didn’t help. While her mother supported her love for knowledge and difference, the orphanage made her depressive. Now an adult she still lives a little isolated, with a few impersonal contacts. She isn’t happy with her life but she goes on, her work as a reporter isn’t satisfying her anymore but it pays the bill and she still hope it could help her to find her mother’s murderer. When she sees Noah on a picture of a crime scene she is knows she saw him somewhere but more than that she can’t resist the need to contact him and the connexion is immediate she trust him and can reveals secret to him however even if she loves him when he make it clear that he won’t be completely in the relationship, she prefers to stop there. When she hears the truth, her decision doesn’t change, she loves him and because of that she can’t ask of him that he renounces to what he is…. But she is different and when she attacked, Noah won’t resist anymore he must protect her even if his brothers in arms don’t agree.

I appreciated that the romance took sometime, after all a lot is in the balance and after years of putting is job as his sole priority I couldn’t have imagined Noah to make a 180° after a few hours. He is torn between his pride, his honor and Abby that make him feel alive for the first time.
What i regretted is sometimes the jump in time, for example when Rayner explains what could save her, we don’t see the ceremony just the result after and i would have loved to get more details.

The action is fast, the tension high at moment and the romance sweet, I couldn’t resist. If you are looking for a steamy sci-fi romance, a paranormal romance with aliens, this is a good try and even better you can get it for free on smashwords so no reason for not giving it a try. I really hope i will get an opportunity to read the rest of the series

My Thoughts

The Light Within Me is the first novel in Carly Fall’s Paranormal Romance series, Six Saviours. Fall has created a very intriguing story of otherworlders living here on Earth. She delivers a well-structured novel that excites with action and conflict, and captivates with steamy romance. The main characters in this story are true-to-life and there’s an array of supporting characters that suggests lots of promise for future novels.

I’m going to do what I haven’t yet as a reviewer and rate this novel at 3 ½ stars. I enjoyed the story and the world building, loved the characters, and parts of the novel really resonated with me. However, there were a few unanswered questions and a shortage of dialogue that I found a little too off-putting for me to give it a full 4 star rating.

That said, this is still a very good story and I will definitely be reading the next one, Finding My Faith, which came out in March 2012. This series has a lot of potential and it reminds me a lot of the Midnight Breed series - which is a very good thing in my point of view.

About the story…
________________________________________
Criminals on planet SR44 are banished from society and sent to live out their days on ‘The Colony’ - a very cold, gray and desolate place where nothing grows from lack of sunlight. There is no rehabilitation strategies or integration back into society for the Colonists. Once you are found guilty of a crime, that’s it. You are exiled and never allowed to return. The people of SR44 believe in making criminals as miserable as possible just as the victim’s families live in misery. These strict rules keep crime to a minimum and there are never more than 100 at a time on the Colony.

Twelve of these hardcore criminals hijacked a cargo ship and escaped. Ashamed of their failure, SR44’s military chose six of their best warriors to go in search of the escapees and kill them. The warriors are not allowed back on SR44 or permitted any contact with anyone there until all twelve of the escapees are found and dealt with (and any possible offspring). The group arrogantly figured the mission would be an easy ‘in and out’, however, the Colonists proved to be more wily than they thought. After 200 years on Earth, the warriors still have 6 left to find and kill.

About the Characters…
________________________________________
Noah is one of six warriors sent to Earth on this mission. Disenchanted by the ‘less than stellar’ performance of the mission, missing his home and his old life, Noah has been feeling stress more than usual. Hopelessness and excessive drinking has driven him to become reclusive. Unlike the other warriors, Noah has not taken a human lover while on Earth and his loneliness is unrelenting. Until he meets Abby.

Abby is also disenchanted with life. She’s always felt different from everyone else and has never fit in. Unhappy in her job and tired of unfulfilling relationships, she’s looking for something exciting to happen in her life. When she meets Noah, she knows instantly her life is going to change.

Noah and Abby have great chemistry and despite the turmoil surrounding them and the obstacles they must overcome, their relationship is a pure and loving one. They are well suited and complement each other nicely.

We are briefly introduced to the other warriors. Each has his own special power or skill that made him a choice for the mission. While Noah, as leader, is more reserved, the others seem more mischievous. I’m looking forward to reading their stories.

Bottom Line
________________________________________
The author has created an excellent story world, interesting plot and compelling characters in her first novel of the series. There were a couple of things that I found a little puzzling and it resulted in a 3 ½ instead of a 4 star rating. Regardless, I fully intend to read the next in the series, Finding My Faith, which just came out in March this year.

Happy Reading!!

Well, that was a nice surprise. This was downloaded as a kindle freebie and a lot of times with the free ones you get what you pay for, but this one was pretty good.

I was a bit concerned going into it as it it had a definite 'Brotherhood' feel to it. I thought it was going to be like the BDB series which I really didn't like and I only made it through the first one of those but I shouldn't have worried, it was fine. One of the similarities that got me fretting were the 'Saviors' themselves. Six of them, Alien Warriors in human form, each taller and more pumped full of testosterone than the last. Living together in a secret silo underground and only venturing out to fight crime and rarely to mingle with the mere humans. Turns out they were actually kind of likeable and I'm looking forward to finding out more about them in the rest of the series.

For those that hate insta-love I'd steer clear of this one as there's plenty of that and if you don't like your leading men to be cavemen types I'd give it a wide berth on that score too... Me? I'm not keen on the ""Me man, you woman. Assume the position"" muscle bound hero's but Noah wasn't toooo much of that. He got a bit over-dramatic with the 'she's mine' carry on at times but he was really just a big lug and it didn't get on my nerves as much as it usually does.

Any mention of their home planet and customs and language and mostly anything at all to do with that part of the story didn't really ring true and I started to question the mechanics of it all so I tried not to dwell on those bits too much as it was pulling me out of the story. It was just the planet-y stuff I glossed over though, the actual Saviors were interesting in how they differed from humans. I really liked how that was done.

Verdict? The story was good, I liked Noah and Abby and I'll definitely work my way through the rest of the series. I'm just hoping the vampires that were mentioned in passing will get a little more page time, I'd be interested to see how they fit in to it all.

3 1/2 rounded up to 4 stars, because that's how rounding works.

"The Light Within Me" is a very well written futuristic romance story that begins the Six Saviours series. Our saviours are beefy aliens from another planet, Warriors hunting their own rogue people, or Colonists, on Earth. Beings of light (our Warriors are like a box of crayola, if you ask me, each emiting their own light - orange, blue, red, green), these aliens can take on a body and live in it. The rogue aliens, of course, are wreaking havok on Earth, killing for pleasure and leaving little black ash piles behind. Our smexy Warriors are out to get them.

In steps our heroine Abby, an intrepid reporter out to get a story and save her job. Abby has felt like she's never quite fit in, and once she starts stargazing, any smart reader has to know she's got a little alien in her, too. Abby wants to interview Noah, one of the Saviors who's been on the hunt for the rogue Colonists for almost 200 years. They took, sparks happen, and the story really takes off. And it is sweet, sweet romance, very well done, easy on the heat, heavy on the internalizing.

I have to say I really, really liked this story until Noah went home to the silo and stepped into Black Dagger Brotherhood land. Did he really have to start cussing, drink name-brand liquor, play video games, listen to hardcore music, and backslap his five brothers, all at the same time? This really was my one gripe with this story. Everything else: perfect.

This is the first book in the six saviour's series. It is centred on a group of six warriors who have left their home world of SR44 to eliminate criminals who have escaped from the prison colony where they were kept.

Noah is the appointed leader of this band of warriors who has taken on the role of a special detective who is called when a distubring scene is found, this allows him to see if any of them are the work of one of the otherworld colonist's in a human body.

He has been on Earth for over two hundred years and the author brilliantly portrays his loneliness and how much he misses his home planet. He is grumpy and very unsociable but you can easily understand why and this makes him a great character.

Abby is a journalist with a local newspaper and she is struggling to keep her job even though she doesn't really like it. So when she see's Noah in pictures in several crime scenes she decides to phone him to ask for an interview to see if she can keep her job.

Abby has spent her whole life feeling out of place but when she meets Noah she feels like someone finally understands her and makes her feel again.

This book is filled with great emotion and a great premise but I need to love the characters more. It was a good read and I did love the main characters but I liked the secondary characters better

Free download. This book is about aliens, some good and some bad. It starts with Noah, the lead Saviour who provides us with background on his kind and history of why the 6 Saviours are living on Earth. You then meet Abby, she's an independent woman who has suffered through loss, and has always felt out of place. Unable to connect with anybody and feeling like she doesn't belong. Abby works as a murder reporter and comes across Noah during a story she needs to write trying to save her job. Noah is a crime investigator and profiler although this is a rouse so he can do his duty and locate 12 Colonists, alien prisoners who escaped his world and came to earth causing havoc. Abby decides interviewing him will make a great story. When they meet it's a connection neither one expected. I really enjoyed the story and plot, the characters are great and there is background so you know exactly what's happening throughout the book. The love scenes are sweet and erotic at the same time, there is plenty of angst, and mystery making a great read with some interesting twists. This book is part of a series but each can standalone. It's different but if you enjoy reading about alien romance and huge gorgeous protectors this is for you.

although i don't usually read this type of book i was grabbed and pulled into the story from the first page. i found myself intrigued and fasinated by the "historical facts" in the story and the characters were a joy to get to know and watch them grow into their own. i also found myself rooting for the hero and heroine and booing the villian and then on the next page laughing out loud at something else. it was a truley wonderful book.

this is also not one of those books that you can figure out who did what in the first few chapters but it kept me guessing right up to the last page. i find myself hoping to hear more about these characters in a future book as well as some of the secondary characters that need their story told.

if this is the type of book that you enjoy you shouldn't miss this one and if you are not into this kind of book you should give this one a try and perhaps it will change your mind the same as it did mine.

Sweet Romance story

I liked the concept of the story. It's about alien warriors whose eyes and bodies glow different colors. They have come to Earth to hunt down convicts called Colonists; who escaped one of their isolated planets. The Colonists had somehow managed to take on human forms, and have procreated. Their offspring are considered potential threats that need to be tracked down and monitored. Abby is working on a new story as a reporter in order to save her job. Noah knows he should stay away from her, but he's inexplicably drawn to her. When she becomes the target of a Colonist, he would do anything to protect her. Even if it means telling her the truth about his origins. Along with the six warriors, they are determined to catch the killer Colonists. Unlike most paranormal stories which are short; I thought this was a nice romance novel.

First off I would like to say that I enjoyed this book. It was a good start to a series. With that said I thought that the author skipped some things that I would have liked to know about (I think you will know what I am talking about if you read this story), but it didn’t detract from the story too much for me. I liked that I didn’t feel like I was being force feed facts about the planet the guys come from, as I find this kind of annoying when I am starting a new series, so that was good. Her secondary characters (The other Saviors) were well written so I will be reading the next book in this series. It also didn’t hurt that this was a FREE book on kindle so I would recommend getting it now so you can see if you would like this series.

This is a story that has some sci-fi, some action, and some romance. Fall did a great job of pulling everything together and making it work. I truly loved the Saviors! They were big and sexy as well as loyal and fierce. You instantly feel a connection with them and want to know what happens. I felt as if the storyline could have been more geared to the adult aspect but that did not hurt the story any. It does not leave you hanging at the end although it is the first book in a series. It is also a book that would let you be okay with reading just one and that is not necessarily good for a series! I am interested in reading the next book because I enjoyed this one so much. Recommended.

This book is trying to be the start of a BDB series, but it fails. The writing cannot hold up to the ideas the author has. The concept has potential -- evil aliens come to earth and become serial killers, good aliens follow to clean up the mess and meet their true loves -- but the writing lacks the skill, polish, and verisimilitude to carry the tale.

I was unable to read beyond 20 percent, and will not bother finishing, reading the rest of this series, or reading anything further from this author.

WOW! If you are looking for a sexy, interesting, full of suspense kind of book… this is defiantly the one for you. It was amazing on many levels; it had my attention from the first page to the last. The storyline was different, not your everyday romance book, but certainly one of the most interesting romantic stories I have read in awhile. The romance was sweet, super sexy and undeniably HOT!
