There are lots of things Callie Singer would like to change about her middle school. But when she finds herself accidentally in the running for student council president, she doesn't take the race too seriously. After all, Brianna Blake --- the most popular girl in school ---- is a shoo-in to win.

The key characters and other characters involved in the story "Callie For President" Were Callie, Max, Fish, Brianna Blake, Gerald, Mr.Hamilton, and Briannas two bestfriends. But the main characters in the story were Callie, Max, Fish and Brianna Blake. Callie was an average 8th grader who attended Susan B. Anthony Middle School. She wasnt't like most kids in their school she wasn't reconized by any one in school. She was unpopular and people didn't talk to her. She Wasn't Good At anything. But Callie Wasn't alone in school. Callie had her two bestfriends Max and Fish Who were also 8th graders and attended Susan B. Anthony Middle school. Max and Fish were just like Callie. They both were unpopular and people didnt talk to them. It was like they all were invisible in school. Brianna Blake on the other hand was nothing like Callie, Fish or Max. She was beautiful and blonde. She was the most popular girl in school and everybody liked her.
The key points in this story is when Callie, Max and fish were standing beside their locker abd Brianna Blake approached them and she started talking to them like they had been friends forever. Brianna then started to talking to fish and she asked him if he would like to be her campaign manager and Fish replied yes. Callie and Max were very angry when fish said he'll do it. Brianna then left. Later that day i Mr.Hamiltons class it was time for class president nominations and of course Brianna Blake was nominated and no one wanted to rub against her. All of a sudden Max and Fish decided to nominate Callie and she got very upset. When it was time for campaign week fish was with Brianna and Max helped Callie. Callie knew there was no way she could win against Brianna but Max helped her in believing she can. Campaing week started and Max and Callie were doing good with all the brownies and cookies they gave out. But they couldn't compare to Brianna who had a celebrity perform to the whole school telling everyone to vote for her.
From what I read so far I think that the authors audience for this book will be for kids in the 8th grade and or kids who are not very popular in school and want to make a difference in their school. Also someone who is young and wants to run in an student election but doesn't think that they can win. Because in the book it talks abouth 8th grade students.and how Callie doubts her ability to win the student election.
The authors message to the readers may be don't doubt yourself in something you may want to do just because you feel like you want win or something.

Student elections are coming up. Callie, Max and Fish have Social studies together. Max and Callie are talking and Max starts laughing. Their teacher asks what was so funny Max has no idea what to say and so she blurts out that she nominates Callie for president! Fish seconds that nomination. Callie is so mad, but she ends up learning a lot from the election. So she really doesn't care who wins.
This book, made me think of SBO elections. Most likely because there was competition. I liked this book, just not enough to go out and buy it. I also think that the author should have added more detail.
Surprisingly, I really liked this one. It had a realistic depiction of middle schoolers and their first exposure to politics. There's also good old fashioned friendship and a twist halfway that showed an unexpected side of a certain quiet character. There are lessons to be learned about the pitfalls of politics, pretending to be someone you're not and caring too much about what others think. The antagonist turned out to be a non-stereotypical character and Callie herself was refreshing and relatable. I also liked that there was no push towards a romantic relationship at all and the book focused more on strong friendship and doing the right thing.
I actually kind of enjoyed this as a kid except for the fact that they loved burnt popcorn. Besides the point is that the story is about an "unpopular" girl running for student body president against the most popular and liked girl. The popular girl, Brianna Blake pissed me off so much because she was so overprivileged. And the unpopular girl Callie's best friend who convinced her to run was lowkey angry because she actually wanted to run which made no sense to me.

Callie Singer's life is pretty simple. She has two loving parents who were weird enough to name her Calliope, and an obnoxious older brother who their parents named Hobbes, after Thomas Hobbes the philosopher. She has only two best friends, Max and Fish, she hates sports, her middle school, and the very fake and very snobby Brianna Blake. Callie liked the way her life was going.
That is until Brianna came up to Fish, the best artist in the school, and asked him to be part of her campaign team. At first, Callie was sure that Fish would deny the offer, but before she knew it her best friend had crossed to the other side.
Callie's life changes even more when Max nominates her for the election, only because she was called out for talking in class and needed to avoid getting in trouble. So now Callie is face to face in the election for student council president against her enemy -- who everyone knows will win no matter what.
At first the idea of actually winning the election seemed impossible to Callie; the idea that she could actually beat Brianna and possibly change the way the school is run is laughable. Callie hops on the political train with Max as her campaign manager and Fish still on the other side. But as the campaigning comes close to an end and the voting is soon to begin, Callie isn't so sure that she is in the election for all the right reasons, compared to her opponent.
Funny and very witty, CALLIE FOR PRESIDENT gives an inside look at student council elections, and it's not very pretty. Deep down though, Robin Wasserman sends a message that we shouldn't be quick to judge someone without truly knowing them, and it definitely goes both ways. CALLIE FOR PRESIDENT is a wonderful addition to the Candy Apple line, and no one should miss out.
Wonderful nice book. Couldn't be better. The story is about a girl named Callie who is accidentally put in the running for class pres...she's not alone! Brianne Blake the 'I'm perfect' girl at school always was class pres candidate...alone. But this year it's different. Brianne is the enemy of Callie. Callie isn't really interested in any of the class pres thing but her friend Max, got her going. Then, her other friend Fish, went working with the enemy Brianne for the class pres. Then, it was war. Callie got so angry and jealous. How was she going to get him back?? Then, Brianne humiliates her in front of everyone and that was enough!
She drew on the posters and ruined them. She felt awful, but it's already done. The next day, she didn't want to go to school but her mum won the fight by talking in detail...gross detail about her birth day. So Callie had to go to school, by that time she saw the teachers tearing all the posters down down and away but it was too late. Everyone was talking about it!
I really truly believe that this book is inspired. My name is Callie, and I agree with all of its contents. Well at least the title anyways. It is wonderful, and I think all of you should read it and take it to heart completely. It will tug at the very heart of your soul core and make you feel better than you have felt in a long long time. It literally made me tear up and just shout with joy and excitement. The very title makes you giddy with love and happiness because you just anticipate what might lie in the pages. I just know that you will love and treasure this book as much as I do. Thank you and good day.
I wasn't fond of this Candy Apple installment at all. "Callie for President" was about Calliope, a girl who is the opposite of popular in school, who's accidentally put in the running for school president. It was a very trite story line, and the characters were really flat, especially Brianna Blake... Callie's competition.
I think this was a great and touching story. I think others should read it and see how some people aren't really who you think and that anything can change who you are and what you might become. Hope you read this book!
I went back to a book I had when I was younger, and reread it. While it may be aimed at a slightly younger audience, I still found the book to have some really good morals in the end. Even I learned something from it!
