At nineteen years old, I should be attending college and living my best life. Instead, I am stressing about overdue bills and keeping a roof over my brother’s head.
That’s when I meet the Saint’s Outlaws MC.
They own the only shop in town willing to give a woman like me a shot at being a mechanic. They are my last hope.
If only the VP wasn’t a grumpy guy who likes to make my life difficult.
He annoys me as much as he sets my soul on fire.
When secrets I didn’t even know I had come to light, I have to rely on the man who has quickly become both my savior and damnation.
Gunner
Being the VP of the Saint’s Outlaws MC is second nature to me. I’ve been taking care of my best friend and President, Smoke, since we were children so moving to Pensacola to start our own chapter was nothing new.
Not until I met her.
Sloane is everything a woman shouldn’t be. She’s sexy, charming, and knows her way under a hood better than any of the brother’s on staff.
She’s off limits though, to me and them.
Until danger comes lurking and the only way to keep her safe is to keep her by my side.
Will I survive the snarky woman with a mission or am I doomed to go down with her?
Cala Riley, better known as Cala and Riley, are a pair of friends with a deep seated love of books and writing. Both Cala and Riley are happily married and each have children, Cala with the four-legged kind while Riley has a mixture of both two-legged and four. While they live apart, that does not affect their connection. They are the true definition of family. What started as an idea that quickly turned into a full-length book and a bond that will never end.
I did enjoy this, but I had a few issues. First, and this is probably only a me thing because I never see anyone else talking about this in any book that has this issue. And that is I found it a bit difficult to read/submerse myself in due to repeated lack of contractions. There were entire paragraphs that would constantly say “I am”, or “we will”, and things like that rather than shortening it to “I’m” or “we’ll”. It makes the book seem very formal, kind of like an essay where you write out I am instead of I’m in order to get the word count up. Idk this doesn’t seem to bother anyone else, but I find this to be a reoccurring issue in some books
Secondly, I had a not quite love/hate relationship with gunner. I haaaaaated him in the first half of the book. He was sexist and I hated the comments he made towards the h. Like, I understand he had abandonment issues because of his mom, but to be a 30 year old man saying “women can’t be trusted” because your girlfriend at SIXTEEN cheated on you, is asinine. I fucking haaaaaate this theme in books 😵💫🙄 one singular woman does something bad to a man, and suddenly all women are evil……yet the logic doesn’t make sense. Because I knowwww this man hasn’t gone his whole life without a man wronging him too, so why aren’t all men bad people who can’t be trusted? Because in order to be part of an mc you HAVE to trust your brothers. So why can men wrong other men in books, yet still allow themselves to trust other men? And also if no woman can be trusted, why don’t you treat your brother’s wives the same way as a woman you’re attracted to? They’re still women after all, so by that logic, they can’t be trusted either😤😤😤😤. This very much annoyed me that he acted like such a sexist jerk towards her all because of a sixteen year old. And then to embarrass the h in front of the club simply because she’s sitting with the brothers, who mind you are her coworkers and her ACTUAL BROTHER, which means she’s probably cheating and enjoyed their attentions…..this scenario pissed me off. I wish she had actually went home that day and let him sit and think about what he did and said instead of basically forgiving him immediately.
I did start to warm up to gunner after he had his little freak out about thinking she’s cheating, but only because he became like a completely different character. He was not the same person he was in the beginning and I found myself wishing he had been like that the whole time
Oh and sloane annoyed me with her whole “I simply can’t accept handouts” spiel. If you are living in extreme poverty, where you are working as well as your mom working three jobs, and your brother having to wear clothes with holes in them, I think it’s time to pack that routine up! The constant “oh I can’t accept that” got annoying
Thank you to Love Notes PR for sending me an ARC of Gunner's Mercy.
I haven't read too many MC romance books and I do want to branch out and read more this year. This one was definitely a good one to kick 2025 off with. I loved the immediate fire that we had between Gunner and Sloane from the day she started working at the garage. I also immediately fell in love with Smoke for taking a chance on Sloane as well and giving her the job. I definitely want to go ahead and read his novella "Smoke's Rise" and learn more about him.
Once Gunner had gotten over his immediate hate of Sloane and started leaning into his feelings for her, I loved how quickly things started to move for them. I also really enjoyed watching the rest of the guys in the MC immediately take Sloane in as one of their own and have her back from day one. And then further in the book, take her younger brother Lee under their wing too.
If you're a fan of age gap romance, enemies to lovers, Motorcycle clubs (or just Sons of Anarchy), alpha hero, sassy heroine and a lot of found family, I think you're gonna enjoy this one. I had a good time. Also, the spice was *SPICY*.
Ohh this book had me so captivated! You know I love my MC books with badass characters and an amazing love journeys these two definitely had me loving every moment of it!
Sloane and Gunner were such a fun time while also being really intense in the best way. I looved their back and forth, the sassiness of this girl? Ah love it, she gave as good as she got and it drove him crazy haha and I just adored that so much! She was exactly what he needed in his life even if he didn't wanna admit it at first. The perfect match for his personality and in every other sense too, they consumed each other in the best way for sure.
Them falling for each other was epic and beautiful and everything in between, they definitely keep each other on their toes ans I loved their amazing chemisty so much! I loved the emotion with them too and the intensity that made their connection that much deeper!
Gunner was what you'd want in an MC vice president who was a mechanic at the club's auto shop. Loyal, broody, set in his ways, but also protective as heck to the ones he declared family.
Sloane was everything he was not looking for lol. Young, assertive, sassy. She took no one's shit and was strong and a mama hen to her family. Being the youngest and a woman on top of that, she had a lot to prove when she was given the job as a mechanic at the Saint Outlaw's shop.
These two clashed over and over, but little by little they warmed up to each other. The way their relationship evolved was perfect for them. They knew just how to get under each other's skin and played off it. Banter perfection! Everyone in the shop was fanning themselves when these two got on a roll. Falling was bound to happen and fall they did.
This was an MC story that drew me in right from the very beginning. Talk about a strong female lead, Sloane was only nineteen but she had the world on her shoulders and did whatever she could to keep her family afloat. That’s why the mechanic job she got with the Saint’s Outlaws MC couldn’t have come at a better time for her.
Gunner ran the club’s garage along with some of his other brother’s but he was not a fan of having a woman as well as an outsider working there. He made her life hard but she wasn’t there to take his crap either and wasn’t afraid of standing up to him. I loved the interaction between these two and once things warmed up between them things got even better.
This is one of those books that had me turning pages as fast as I could because it was that good. Between the banter, the steam and club drama I highly recommend this book.
4.5 ⭐️ Why you’ll love this book!! 🏍️ Motorcycle Club Romance 🥰 Age Gap 🏍️ Enemies to lovers 🥰 Strong FMC 🏍️ Found family 🥰 Alpha Male
The banter between these two was awesome and then add the other MC guys it was just hilarious in the garage..The chemistry between these two was off the chart..They both try and deny the attraction due to age and other reasons..I loved how the guys pulled Lee into the fold as a little brother because of Sloane.. He needs the man influence in his life.. Now the curve ball that came with the GOAT was crazy I never saw that part coming .. I mean I knew something was going to happen due to the build up but never saw that at all..
Absolutely loved this one! Had a bit of a daddy/brat vibe to it and I was totally here for it. I also love the whole "female mechanic needing to prove herself" trope ❤. This was a fast paced read and I completely ate it up in one sitting! Can't wait for more!
Cala Riley continues to deliver with another great MC romance book. Gunner’s story was so good. This age gap, protective love story had me loving Gunner. I could read again and again. A must read!
Some of my favorites from the book:
"I'm just saying you should take your health more seriously. You're old and shit. You should probably have a will if you don't already."
"What do you even know about kinks?" Gunner asks hesitantly. "Not much, honestly, but I know that if I really looked around right now, I could probably spot a dozen like it's a game of Where's Waldo. This is like exposure therapy at its finest."
"Must have been a pretty good dream if I was in it."
This was such a sweet and surprising read. I honestly didn't think I would love it as much as I did because I knew from chapter 1 Gunner had trust issues when it came to women but I'm happy to share that my worry was for nothing. He stepped up right after what he said and that was it. I was also 99% sure my girlies, Cala and Riley, wouldn't do me dirty like that. In their romances I trust!
I loved Sloane. Is that a surprise to me or others who know me? No, it isn't. She is Her. She was sassy without getting on my nerves because sometimes authors do 18 year olds who behaves like 14 imo and that's a no no for me but this author did it right. She is mature enough where even if she says something appropriate to her age, it just felt smooth and it went along with her personality. I just love how she behaved towards everyone especially the guys. She slayed!
Gunner was rough but sweet, protective and overall a good person as the rest of the guys are. He started a grump because she was hot and young but he stood no chance against the hurricane that was Sloane. I like that he wanted her to succeed without the expectation of her doing something from him. He helped her when he thought he couldn't but he just couldn't ignore her because he has morals and is a good guy. I loved that once there was a hint of trouble, he was all in in protecting her and made sure her and her family were being protected.
Plot twist happened and let's just say Sloane acted like a Sloane would. I love her brother Lee and feel like there might be a little thing brewing between him and one of his "brother's" sister 👀. I would love to see it since the kid deserves it. I loved everything that everyone did to help Sloane whether it was to protect her or to fix up her house just because she was one of them. This is what Cala Riley does best, it's the found family aspect of it all plus everything else that always makes me feel like everyone is awesome and I believe that they are happy and in the end that's what a romance is.
Motorcycle Club is one trope I will forever gravitate back to and let me tell you Gunner’s Mercy did not disappoint. I wasn’t ready for this book to end, it was so good.
Sloane was different from every other female main character I’ve read and it was such a breath of fresh air. I just loved her so much. She was such a spit fire and wasn’t taking anyone’s shit and not to mention her working in a men’s dominated career, yes please. She wasn’t backing down from the job she loved even if Gunner drove her crazy. The chemistry between Gunner and Sloane was through the roof and I just loved their dynamic. The banter was top notch and had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. The tension between these two was felt right through the pages but the sparks between them when they finally gave in blew right through the page. Cala really has a way with her writing that will have you feeling every single emotion throughout the book that the characters feel. I loved that the romance in this book wasn’t lovey dovey, it was very hot and chaotic in the best way possible. These two will steal your heart. I couldn’t put this book down and I think it has easily made it into my top reads of 2024. The brotherhood was so good in this book, you could really tell how much they’d do anything for each other and cared about not only their brothers but their woman. I can’t wait to dive into the series
Highly recommend running and preordering because you won’t want to miss Gunner and Sloane’s story.
Sometimes I read an excellent book but in a lot of cases there is usually something missing that prevents me from giving it a full 5-star rating, I can't find a proper name for it, it might be something, maybe like a feeling or sixth sense or I am not sure what. Usually, when I am unsure if the book deserves 5 stars, I give it 4 or 4 1/2 but when a book is so good that it deserves a full 5 I just know it. Sometimes I can't exactly tell why, but I just have a feeling, the universe is giving me a sign probably. Of course, there are also many qualities that the book must have, but my feelings and all the emotions that I am feeling during the reading are a huge part of it.
Gunner's Mercy is exactly one of these books. (I am not gonna lie, a big reason why I think this book went straight to my heart was 7 seasons of Sons of Anarchy and my neverending love for Jax). I really liked the main characters, and their story from the beginning, especially how they talked to each other when they started to work together and how their relationship changed through the book. The other guys from the club, the environment, they're back stories. The found family trope was so so cute I might cry.
Do you know how in almost every book everything starts good, everyone is happy and then something bad happens, but eventually it's sorted and we have a happy ending? I was waiting for this bad scene in this book and Oh boy, I was so glad that it wasn't as long as I expected because I am really not enjoying those parts of the books. Instead of this, there was a slowly rising tension (which I like much more), when we were not quite sure what would happen, but you know that something for sure will happen.
The last thing is the fact, that I didn't fall asleep as I usually do with a book in my hand by 9 pm (yes, I am a permanently exhausted mum), but the story kept me awake till 1 am until I didn't finish it all. For one bite. I only went to the bathroom for a break, nothing else. I loved this book. I am going to read Smoke's story now and then wait for another book in this series.
This was a pretty good read. Maybe more of a 3.5-3.75 for me.
I loved Sloane! She was such a great FMC. She was funny and sassy and she didn’t take any shit!!! Which worked because Gunner was such an asshole to her at first. It doesn’t last very long, they start hooking up at like 44% and then they are together the rest of the book. I appreciated that we got to see them together for the majority of the book. Gunner also became really sweet and protective of her.
There was something with some of the dialogue that threw me off. It was like there was too much detail given by whoever was talking. The villain’s dialogue was super cringy and there were some things said that didn’t seem organic at all.
I wasn’t a fan of Gunner’s reasoning for hating women so much. I get that his mom leaving messed him up but I didn’t like how he was still stuck on getting his heartbroken when he was 16. This guy thinks all women are evil because he got cheated on in high school and 15 years later he’s still heartbroken over it. He even goes into detail to Sloane about how much he loved this ex and how if she never cheated he wouldn’t be there because he would be where his ex was. How she was the greatest thing ever blah blah blah. We definitely didn’t need to hear all that in my opinion. Definitely turned me off.
There’s some Daddy kink in here. I don’t mind it but it was kind of overused here and not discussed even though he was used inside and outside of the bedroom.
One thing I liked was this book was very safe. The only thing is in the prologue Gunner is out at a bar and he tells his friends he’s going to find a wet hole for the night. I didn’t like how he spoke about women but we don’t see him finding anyone or doing anything with anyone. Other than that there’s not a bunch else about his history, it’s not shoved in our face. There is some woman that tries to get with him but he’s not interested and Sloane scares the girl away. This is an MC so naturally there’s club things going on but we don’t see much of it and it’s not descriptive. Gunner makes Sloane close her eyes when they walk through where the orgies are happening lol.
Anyway I may continue the series. I wish we would have seen more of Mac in here since his book is next. Not a fan of hearing that he’s a ladies man though and apparently sleeps with all types of different girls. He says he’s picky but he still gets around so that confused me.
NO CHEATING NO TRUE OP DRAMA NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP AGE GAP 19/30 TALK OF RUNNING DRUGS VIOLENCE AND MURDER
An MC romance with a grumpy VP and a sassy mechanic? You got me revved up for this!! I love an age gap romance and this is exactly that!!
Gunner , VP of Saint’s Outlaws MC , a gruff man that screams danger but is protective and a little OTT but takes care of his woman .. he’s a green flag for sure! Having been burnt in the past he had no trust in women . I liked the fact Sloane pushed him to be completely open .. the enemies to lovers was a strong vibe in this book. Sloane really managed to get under his skin.
Sloane - was a young , wise and a sassy mechanic with a poor background and very family oriented. She also overcame her own battles in her head , she made me forget that she was only nineteen! She carried a lot of weight on her shoulders and I was so happy she trusted Gunner enough to ease that weight.
I enjoyed this book … a lot. The pacing was perfect, the chapters wasn’t too long and the character development was everything. The passion and chemistry was off the charts. I loved the interactions with the side characters too! I am now invested in the brothers’ story. Sloane and Gunner’s story was the definition of brotherhood and family, protect what’s yours 💚
✨ Thank you to Cala Riley and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this ARC in return for an honest review ✨
Gunner's Mercy by Cala Riley (Saint's Outlaws MC: Pensacola Chapter Book 1) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️~Stars 🥵🥵🥵🥵~Spice
Tropes: • MC Romance • Age Gap • Enemies To Lovers • Strong FMC • Alpha Male • Found Family • Panty-melting heat😉
🖇️ “I swear if you drive like an idiot, I will nut punch you so hard you’ll be coughing up semen for weeks.”
🖇️ “I can smell it on you, Sloane. You smell so sweet. Like the nectar of the gods. Be careful, brat. Tease a man too much, and he might feel like a god and indulge.”
🖇️ “No, Sloane. I have no problem being your daddy. You are a little brat, after all. I could have some fun with you. Too bad you are too young to appreciate it.”
▪️ Yep I'm totally in love with Gunner!🥰 I devoured this book like tomorrow would never come! What a phenomenal couple Gunner and Sloane were! Their journey offered plenty of excitement and panty-melting heat!🥵 I look forward to enjoying the rest of this series, because if they're anything like this one, I just KNOW I'm in for one heck of a ride!!! So go ahead and enjoy because you won't get any spoilers from me🖤
“I like when you hold me. It feels nice not being alone.”
Hands down, favorite book by this awesome duo! I COULD NOT put this down! I was up at 4:30am anxious to finish!! This book kicks off a brand new MC World Series and MAN did this set the bar high!! Sloan meets Gunner when she gets a job as a mechanic at the car shop he runs. She just wants to get a paycheck to help out her family, unknowingly putting herself in danger. What starts out as enemies and bickering , slowly becomes something Gunner never anticipated. He thought he was done with women, but these two can’t help the undeniable chemistry between them. These two have the most beautiful… and spicy relationship. I loved every second of this! The spice was TOP tier and the MMC was very alpha, yet so so kind and caring to her. This surpasses any expectations I could have had !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A special thanks to Love Notes PR and Cala Riley for allowing me to read and review this book!

This isn’t my first book by Cala Riley and I loved this one just as much as the other book I read! We are in the Saint Outlaws series and boy am I going to have to go back and read every single other book in this series. This book is the story of Gunnar and a spitfire named Sloane. Sloane is looking for a job to help her mom out with the bills around the house. Now Sloane is not like your typical nineteen year old girl and ends up finding a job at a local shop which happens to belong to the Saint Outlaws. And here is when she stumbles into the grumpy Gunnar, and of course he hates her at first because she’s young and can never keep her mouth shut. When Gunnar realizes the home life that Sloane has to deal with them he ends up having a change of heart. The rest you have to find out when you read this book 😜
Who doesn't love an age gap slightly enemies to lovers but not really MC story? Gunner is the VP of the Saints and Sloane is just looking for a mechanic job to help her mom and brother out. Gunner doesn't think she'll make it in the shop when the president hires her. The banter between Sloane and Gunner was so good. She's a sassy sarcastic independent woman and he's never really had anyone challenge him like that. There is an attraction underneath it all. The attraction deepens when they finally give in to the sparks. When trouble comes looking for Sloane, Gunner holds nothing back to help her.
Cala Riley is a new to me author, and I can't wait to check out her backlist. I lived and breathed this book from start to finish. I'm a sucker for fictional bad boys, add in age gap, found family, & MC (not something I like in real life) my heart is swooning!! Gunner and Salone's chemistry is off the charts. He's a broody jerk, but if anyone can break down those barriers, it would be Salone. Salone is desperate to help her single mother with the bills and daily life of raising her little brother. Single mama's always have my heart, too. The Saint's Outlaws is one family I'd want to be in if I found myself in a situation similar to Salone's. They protect what's theirs at all cost no questions asked.
Thank you to Love Notes PR for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Well, I’ve got to say, I wasn’t prepared for this one. Enemies to lovers, workplace romance, motorcycle club, and an age gap? This book has it all. Its got a mmc who’s to hot to handle and a fmc who’s got a backbone as tough as the leather on the mmc’s bike. It was a fun and raunchy read.
Thanks to love notes PR and Cala Riley for the ARC.

Another MC series that I have lost myself in. Gunner’s Mercy, Saint Outlaws Pensacola chapter. It’s HOT AF yup I said it 😁. Age gap, daddy kink 😜, grumpy/ sassy, family brotherhood and did I mentioned it’s HOT AF 🥵 definitely more than 5 stars and most importantly 😁😁😁 more than 10 chilli peppers hot 😂. A must read, I am totally invested in this series and I want more!
Sloane is such a spitfire! I love how she held her own against Gunner and anyone else who dared to step out of line. Being the only woman working in the mechanic shop alongside a bunch of bikers, you're bound to clash with the guys. Gunner has issues from his childhood that cause him to despise women, but Sloane piques his interest in a way he's never experienced before. The banter between them was hilarious. There are several spicy scenes, and they don't disappoint. It didn't feel rushed, and the plot remained strong throughout the story. Loved it!
Ohh Gunner. I love when a badass MC fights his feelings for the girl he can't get off his mind. Sloane was the best bratty temptress for him. I loved how far from your typical FMC she was. She loved cars and wanted to save herself. She protected her family above herself. She was a badass in her own right. I loved how explosive these two were and how ruthless Gunner fought for her. I cannot wait for the next story to come ♡
Gunner’s Mercy is hands down one of my favorite titles by one of my favorite author teams, Cala Riley. These ladies never cease to amaze me! Gunner is hot and growly, and Sloane is a spitfire! They are an explosive match made in biker Heaven and I am here for ALL OF IT! The brotherhood that is the Saint’s MC world, is one I have been highly anticipating and if this first glimpse is anything like what is to come, sign me up now! Give me all the Saint’s, all the time!
Wow! Fabulous book! I couldn’t put it down! Lots of sass and banter back and forth with Gunner & Sloane. They get under each others skin in more ways than one. It was fun reading their story
Cala Riley have done it again! I was so obsessed with this one I couldn’t put it down. I’m a sucker for an MC romance and will eat it up every single time.
Gunner and Sloane were super intense characters but so much fun at the same time haha Sloane was such a sassy and strong FMC I loved her so much.
Watching them grow closer was so fun to read they had insane chemistry and amazing banter I couldn’t stop giggling with how much Sloane gave back to Gunner she was definitely everything he needed to put him in his place!
I highly recommend this book especially if you love the following
🖤 All the spice 🍀 Alpha Hero 🖤 Enemies to lovers 🍀 Sassy Herione 🖤 Found Family 🍀 Age gap 🖤 MC romance
Tropes: MC romance Touch her and ☠️ Age Gap Snarky enemies to lovers
Loved😍: -everything. Honestly I loved this one -it’s like reading an episode of SOA but better -I LOVED how much Gunner looked out for Sloane, and in return how much Sloane realised she could lean on Gunner -big bad bikers who are cinnamon rolls for their woman -the exploration of kink -heroine being put in danger so we get some elite “she’s mine, you ☠️ now” moments 🫠🫠
Drawback: -I never wanted the story to end so there’s that 🤣
Gunner and Sloane deliver a heart pounding romance with heat.
Cala Riley are incredible voices in the MC genre! Absolutely blown away by this novel. If it weren't for the holidays and work this would've been a one seat read!
