RITA© award winner for Best Romance Novella of the year!

Natalie Bourne thinks she has the perfect night planned for her twenty-first birthday. But when her car breaks down and her boyfriend bails on her, she’s left stranded in an auto shop dealing with a way too cocky, way too hot mechanic, who seems to be intent on pushing every button she has.

Monroe Hawkins knows he shouldn’t be messing with a girl from the uppity private college. Especially when he can tell she sees him as the help. But he’s having trouble resisting the redhead with the smart mouth and the killer legs. So when Natalie’s night goes from bad to worse, there’s no way he’s letting her spend her birthday alone. Never have I been so bold. I don't make first moves. I've been the nice girl behind closed doors just like I have been in the rest of my life. But right now, all I want is a whole lot of bad.

I barely bothered to read the blurb when I saw this title. I'm a huge fan of Roni Loren's, so what the woman writes, I'll read. This was definitely very different from anything that I've read from her in the past. It's not BDSM or angsty. It's a light, steamy and quick NA romance that it just perfect for a quick afternoon read. This is not a long book (under 100 pages I think), but it still packs a steamy punch and I loved the story. Typically with short novellas I find it hard to truly get invested in the characters or their romance, but that wasn't the case here. Sure I wish it was a little longer simply because I enjoyed it, but it was the perfect length for what it was.
Remember, birthdays are like trips to Vegas. Whatever happens doesn't go on your permanent record."

So you're broken down on a deserted road, on your 21st birthday, in suffocating heat. You call a tow truck company but they may take over 2 hours to reach you. You have a fancy restaurant booked for a date with your boyfriend and no way to get there. Oh and your boyfriend is completely unreachable. What's a girl to do? That's precisely the predicament that Natalie Bourne finds herself in. But then a tatted up and sexy stranger proves to be her savior and biggest temptation. Natalie is the stereotypical good girl. Her childhood and drunk of a mother ensured that she keep herself in line...a very narrow one. She does what she's told, she doesn't make a scene, she dates the nice boys. Basically the exact opposite of the girl that would be interested in the bad boy mechanic that pulls over on the side of the road to help her out.

Monroe Hawkins is not into uptight and rich sorority girls, and Natalie absolutely screams uppity with her appearance. But there's also something about her that tempts him. As circumstances put them together and Natalie finds her inner bad girl, the attraction between them soon proves too much to ignore.
Because when Monroe braces his arms alongside me and holds my gaze while he moves inside me, I feel like this is bigger than a hookup. This is what sex is supposed to me like. Not just a whole-body experience, but a whole mind one.

Don't worry, Natalie's douchebag of a boyfriend isn't in the picture long and there's absolutely no cheating or love triangles. This is a super light but steamy read that's sure to hit the spot for any lovers of NA.

I loved the chemistry between Natalie and Monroe and seeing more and more of Natalie's true personality coming out with Monroe's presence. It was fantastic. I read this in one sitting and loved every page. So why not 5 stars? Well, as great as it wasn't anything that blew me away. It was an entertaining albeit a fairly forgettable read. But definitely one I'd highly recommend.

I didn't quite know what to expect going into this one...I was after a quick,SEXY read and it was certainly that, but a lot better than similar books of this type.
Natalie is trying to celebrate her 21st birthday when her car breaks down. She is on her way to meet her boyfriend at a restaurant. While waiting for the recovery company Monroe, who works for his brothers tow truck company, stops and offers to help. You find out pretty quickly that the asshole of a boyfriend is not where he says he is so there's no cheating involved.
So Monroe suggests they spend her birthday night together....
Ok,so it was insta lust( something I'm not normally a fan of )but it came across as so much more than that over the night. They both had made bad judgments about each other on sight...

SHE LOOKS AT HIM...AND SEES A BADASS,BIKER KIND OF GUY..

HE LOOKS AT HER...AND SEES A RICH,UPTIGHT GIRL..

Throughout the night they talk and get to know each other and yes it does end with some steamy sex,BUT what made it stand out ( for me ) was the writing..it flowed beautifully and the Author did a great job in creating such depth to the characters, baring in mind it's only about 90 pages.
Monroe and Natalie are both such likeable characters and even though their encounter lasted only one night, the outcome was totally plausible....

My only negative was that,my God,I wanted more of their story. It does have an Epilogue so you get to see a little bit into the future but I could have read about these two for a lot longer.

So,if you want a sexy read with great characters and have got a couple of hours to spare,I highly recommend this one......

Natalie is geared up for a special birthday night with her boyfriend, Caleb, and you just know things are going to go wrong when she’s broken down on the side of the road and Caleb doesn’t have the time to come and help her; the reason why got my blood running hot with anger! Monroe works for his brother’s tow truck company and stops to help her. Natalie took one look at Monroe and thought: “Sons of Anarchy” hot, but trouble, and Monroe quickly thought: spoiled sorority princess. Both were wrong with their assessments, but it didn’t stop the immediate attraction simmering between them:

That Miss Priss vibe she’s got going on kind of does it for me. It makes me want to get her dirty. Really, really dirty.

Monroe is there to help, her knight-in-shining-armor while her boyfriend is strangely MIA; the reason why frees Natalie to pursue more interesting things with Monroe. When Monroe finds out Natalie’s boyfriend ditched her on her birthday, he’s ticked for her and offers to take her out for the night, and for once in a long time Natalie wants to ditch her careful reserve and have fun.

Monroe and Natalie spend a fun night out getting to know each other all the while their attraction builds to combustible levels! Roni Loren expertly built up steam between them in a short amount of time.

Nice Girls Don’t Ride
had me hooked from page one. It was a cleverly crafted a romance in a short amount of pages where “I love you” and a HEA was plausible without insta-love, something that’s not easily accomplished with a novella. A total recommend!

Recensione in Anteprima sulla mia pagina Bookstagram
https://www.instagram.com/p/COc8HAQKM...

Quella sbirciatina l’aveva messa in imbarazzo.

"Verified that I'm not a serial killer?"
"Verified that you work for Billy's. The serial-killer part is yet to be determined."

NICE GIRLS DON'T RIDE was amazing. Honestly the only thing keeping this from being a full five stars is I wish we'd had a little more of a fleshed reason behind why the boyfriend does what he does. I mean, no reason would be a good one, but as a result he's left a little two-dimensional. We don't care about him either way.. but still.

"And if you need me to make out with you or anything for show when we drive up, I can find it in my giving nature to make that sacrifice for you."
"Your giving nature knows no bounds."
"I'm a giver, birthday girl."

I loved these two main characters. I loved Natalie, the fiery girl who has been keeping herself censored and polite because she's cared about what people think for so long, trying to live beyond her upbringing. I loved Monroe, the mechanic who might not be the one you take home to mum, but isn't stupid, and has dreams beyond working in his brother's shop. I loved the chemistry, the banter, the sweetness. Everything. These two were just everything. And that epilogue? Seriously. I have cavities.

She's highly concerned with being nice and non-psycho and non-high maintenance. Where's the fun in that?

If you're looking for a quick read that's funny, sexy, sweet and fun, this is a sure bet. NICE GIRLS DON'T RIDE is my first read by Loren but will absolutely not be my last.

description

“Sarebbe così lontano dalla solita me.

Absolutely loved this! Natalie and Monroe have such a fantastic connection that you can feel it jumping off the pages. OMG, adored them! Monroe was sexy and charismatic! He really gives her the support she needs and an amazing 21st Birthday. That was definitely an EPIC 21st if you ask me. Perfection....I just wanted more of these two.

THIS NOVELLA GOT ME OUT OF MY READING SLUMP so I'm so happy, that's obvious.

Literally one of the most wholesome, hottest, and cutest reads. I loved the chemistry between Monroe and Nat, they're the cutest. Their dynamic is amazing, and I loved the plot line, and how it was paced.

It got me giggling, blushing, squealing most of the time. Literally devoured it. I love how Monroe stood by her and wanted to give her the best 21st birthday.

AND OMFG SHE IS A BAD BITCH. STAN NAT. LOVE NAT. WANT NAT. NEED NAT.

The way she was like 'F*ck it.' and became her true self and who she actually wants to be rather than the person she was trying to convince herself she was for Caleb (trash), and others.

Caleb can eat trash, oh wait, he can't eat himself.

Anyways, go read this. Loved it.

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

This is my first book by Roni Loren but it won’t be my last. From the very first pages until the end Iwas swept away by her masterful storytelling and completely immersed into the lives of Natalie and Monroe. Sweet, sexy, charming, funny, and just plain fantastic I’ve just found a new to me author with a huge backlist to check out!

On Natalie’s 21st birthday; her car breaks down, she can’t reach her boyfriend, a tatted up guy that screams bad boy stops in a wrecker to offer assistance, she finds out her boyfriend is cheating and winds up spending the night of her life with said tatted up bad boy who turns out to be something entirely different. I swear for a novella this author packed a whole lot of punch into this story.

I flat out LOVED the way these two got off on the wrong foot, the way Natalie just let it all out and didn’t pull any punches around Monroe, the way he called her on some of her shit but was there when she needed a friend and the way he made her feel when he told her he liked her just the way she is.

Monroe is one of those sneaky heroes; you think you have him all figured out and he turns out to be something else entirely. I love that he is a foodie, that he wants to live the dream his mother didn’t live long enough to accomplish, that he has a no holds barred attitude, that he thinks before he acts, that he appreciates everything about Natalie and most of all he’s not afraid to show and tell Natalie just how he feels about her.

I admire a young woman who can have such a crappy day but who decides to shake it off and have fun. It was obvious that Natalie had been hiding her true self or at least not letting it all loose around he uptight boyfriend but finding out he was cheating let her wild side show and it came out in rare form. While she had some moments of sadness I love how she let Monroe take over her evening, that she rolled with everything he wanted to do, that she came to realize there was a lot more to the man she thought might be a murderer, that she appreciated all sides of him, and most of all that she made the choice to spend time with him and really get to know him.

So yes, you could say that I flat out LOVED this story and I did so you are asking why 4.5 stars…well I’ll tell you. I wanted to go along on their road trip and so I was bummed that Natalie and Monroe decided we weren’t invited along. I’m a good passenger, I love eating in dives and drive-ins and while I’m not so much in love with being in a tent, they could have dropped me off for the evening at a hotel and picked me up the next day, so they would have had privacy but alas I wasn’t allowed to go and that bummed me greatly. That being said, Nice Girls Don’t Ride was refreshing, fun, and so damn amazing and I enjoyed every minute of it!

Nice Girls Don't Ride by Roni Loren is a 2015 Penguin Intemix publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have read Roni Loren's novellas previously and enjoyed them, so when I had the to chance to read and review this one, I signed on without really researching the story first. Sometimes that actually works in my favor, but this one was on a slippery slope for awhile.

Natalie's big plans for her twenty-first birthday celebration could not have gone more awry, starting with a broken down car and ending with finding her boyfriend is the recipient of the worst boyfriend of the year award. The only bright spot is having met a charismatic tow truck driver and mechanic, Monroe Hawkins, the man who will show Natalie how to be comfortable in her own skin again.

The main problem I had at the beginning is my severe burn out with New Adult romance. I am just not of that age demographic and it's hard for me to relate. However, I put on my critical thinking cap and opened up my mind looking for the positives, hoping for a great story.

There were some rough moments here and there. I enjoy a slower build up, don't really like things too rough, and while I knew the reasons for Natalie's reckless behavior, I didn't really approve. The story should come with a “don't try this at home” warning, because in real life, this is very risky behavior.

( So, even if I had not told you my age range, you would have guessed it anyway with my last statement. LOL)

The character that won me over was Monroe. I think our society automatically assumes sometimes that if you are wearing jeans to your job, not working in a high rise cubicle, you are somehow not as smart, probably a hell raiser, and a thousand other stereotypes.

But, Monroe was pretty savvy knowing Natalie was involved with a guy who was not good enough for her, and sticking with her through what he knew was going to be a bad scene, and never leaving her side while she adjusted to having a true moment of clarity. Monroe had me laughing out loud with his antics a time or two and I knew he would treat Natalie very well.

Natalie does make some progress in opening her eyes to the way she was living her life, and from now on she will be with a person who loves her just like she is, for the very qualities she tried so hard to stifle.

In the end, despite my initial reservations I wound up liking the story for the most part. This one get 3 stars

My Thoughts:

Nice Gils Don't Ride by Roni Loren was an adventurous, fun, and very sexy whirlwind romance! Natalie Bourne is all dressed up and ready to go out for her 21st birthday, when her car breaks down. She keeps calling and texting her boyfriend to pick her up, and he doesn't respond to any of her messages. As Natalie waits for Autoland to come and tow her car, a different tow truck appears, and out walks a sexy looking bad boy biker, Monroe Hawkins. Monroe tows Natalie to his brother's shop, so he can attempt to fix it.

Unfortunately, things go from bad to worse on poor Natalie's birthday, so when Monroe offers to show her a good time, she takes him up on his offer. What does she have to lose? Natalie is in for a night to remember, and the beginning of a new adventure in her life.

I loved this novella. It was extremely fast-paced, and I was so excited when I saw that the story was told in Natalie and Monroe's dual perspectives. I enjoyed the fact that there was a lot more to Monroe than his appearance suggested. Monroe's character was full of great surprises, and I adored learning about him. I also enjoyed Natalie's character. While at the beginning of the story, she seemed quiet, passive, and a people pleaser, she was able to show another side of herself with Monroe. I thought her feisty, confident, and adventurous side was very appealing.

My Rating:

If you are looking for a quick, feel good, adventurous read, Nice Girls Don't Ride is perfect! The main characters are both really likable, the romance is steamy, and the storyline is very light-hearted, and hopeful. I give, Nice Girls Don't Ride, by Roni Loren, 4 Sexy and Sweet Bad Boy Filled Stars!

This novella was great! Sweet and sassy, with killer chemistry.

Natalie’s 21st birthday doesn’t go the way she planned. Instead of sharing a romantic dinner with her boyfriend at a high-end restaurant and wowing him with her dress, she ends up on the back of a motorcycle with a complete stranger.

“Looks like you need a ride.”

Monroe—the elusive stranger—is so much more than meets the eye when he steps out of that tow truck. The tattoos and motorcycle boots had her convinced he was up to no good, but it turns out, there’s depth behind those brazen eyes of his and a desire to chase his dreams that’s contagious. It becomes a night neither of them could ever forget.

“I’m completely stupid over you. Like, losing-my-mind into you.”

Why wasn’t this a full length novel? Just maybe, this could be the start to a new series? Well, that’s what I’m hoping for. We get to see Natalie and Monroe's first night together and the epilogue gives us a glimpse of where they are a few weeks later, but I want everything in between and after. They’re too great together for there not to be more to their story.

I haven’t read anything else from Roni Loren, but after this, I’m excited to check out her series.

This was a really good story. I'm a big Roni Loren fan & love her Loving on the Edge series, this book I hope is the start of a new series because I could really get into it. It's Natalie's 21st birthday & her car breaks down, she finds out her boyfriend of a yr has been cheating on her with her roommate & she meets the man who is going to change her life's outlook. Monroe is a mechanic & tow truck operator part-time but he wants to open up a restaurant in the near future. He finds her on the side of the road waiting for another company to come get her. He talks her into taking a chance on him & brings her car in to get fixed. Her boyfriend blows her off saying that he has to work late but before she can cancel their restaurant reservations for her birthday celebration she gets a text from them telling her that her request for an upgrade & time change has been approved. Fearing the worst she gets Monroe to take her to the restaurant & she finds her boyfriend & roommate together. Thus her new life begins. Monroe sees the real her & really cares for her & their adventure begins. I would definitely recommend this book.

For some reason (which even I don't understand) this reminds me of the film Adventures in Babysitting (the original version), maybe it's the intro?

Natalie is on her way to a swanky restaurant to celebrate her 21st birthday with her preppy, driven boyfriend when everything goes wrong. Her car breaks down, she is wearing a sexy dress which is attracting ALL the wrong attention, and her boyfriend is too busy with his internship to rescue her.

When a strange guy in a pick-up truck with tattoos and a 'tude stops and offers to tow her car Natalie is suspicious at first but Monroe turns out to be a regular Knight in Shining Armour.

OK, I am seriously worried that every novel I read recently reminds me of Pride and Prejudice, but it's true. Monroe thinks Natalie is a preppy Princess and she thinks he is a Sons of Anarchy, no-brain redneck. Together they discover that first impressions can be deceptive and that what looks good on paper isn't so good in reality.

Recommended for anyone who likes a novella about opposites attracting.

Happy Birthday to me or not, for Natalie Bourne what should have been a fabulous day has turned into a disaster. Even with the hot but opinionated mechanic who is fixing her broken down car as a diversion, everything is falling apart. Tempers flare and as Natalie begins to realize that what Monroe is telling her might have a grain of truth, Natalie finds herself on a whole different path that has quite a different ending.

Entertaining read, I thought the chemistry between Natalie and Monroe was ignited immediately and never let up. Definitely going to check out more stories from Roni Loren.

Roni Loren can do no wrong. Nice Girls Don't Ride...amazing novella. I couldn't stop grinning while I read it. Loved these two, their first meet, the heat and just them. Only complaint? It's a damn novella. Not that it wasn't a fucking awesome novella but dammit I could SO spend another 300 pages with these two. Loved them.

Cari lettori,

I am always skeptical of novellas about characters who meet for the first time in the story. But Roni totally made this one work in the best possible way. It was a nice way to close out the month.
