She was born to hunt them, until she fell in love with them
Maria Foster’s move to Savannah, a small coastal town in Georgia, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But not much of her life was boring. She has lost count of how many times she and her grandfather have moved. He reminds her often that it comes with their responsibility. That responsibility, being a vampire hunter. They either move on after the job is done, or fleeing when they have been found, like now. She has never stayed in one place, or been the same person, for long. She has had so many names she has almost forgotten who she is. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring bad boy Adrian Starling, and his brother Elijah, Maria’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. She has never met a real vampire, until now. She finds herself balanced on the edge of a knife -- between desire and obligation.
Blood Moon captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with fangs.
David Clark is an author of multiple self-published horror novels and anthologies (amazon genre top 100) and can be found in 3 published horror anthologies. His writing focuses on the suspense, horror and sci-fi genres with a writing style takes a story based on reality, develops characters the reader can connect with and pull for, and then sending the reader on a roller-coaster journey the best fortune teller cannot predict. He feels his job is done if the reader either gasps, makes a verbal reaction out loud, throws the book across the room, or hopefully all three.
A new identity, a new town, a new school… For Maria Foster aka Raven Crowe and her grandfather, vampire hunters, this is the norm with every new assignment. As she joins the teenagers at her new school, she will try to blend in while trying to remain anonymous, after all, secrecy is a must in their business. Maria may be only sixteen, but she is tired of this life. She wants to keep the friends she is making; she wants to pursue this attraction between herself and Adrian. There are clues to Adrian’s true nature, and we know this will come to a head at some point. Still, Adrian and Maria do become quite close until one evening all hell breaks loose. It is surely difficult to write about vampires since Twilight, but David Clark has done a great job with Blood Moon. The characters are delightful, the storyline is good, and it has action and a little romance. What more can you ask for. The ending does have a major cliffhanger and, as much as I hate them, this story was good, and I am looking forward to the next book in this series. If you love young adult paranormal/vampire books, then this needs to be added to your list of books to read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Blood Moon (The Vampire Hunter’s Diaries, Book 1) ~ This book absolutely consumed me from the start! Maria Foster has never stayed in one place too long—always changing her name, always running. In Savannah, Georgia, she goes by Raven Cross, trying once again to disappear into a new life. But everything begins to unravel when she meets Adrian Starling—a dark, magnetic presence who seems to see straight through her carefully constructed walls.
Adrian is dangerous, seductive, and clearly hiding secrets—but so is Raven. As their worlds collide, the truth about vampires, her hidden past, and the reason she’s always been on the move starts to surface. The chemistry between them is fiery, but it’s tangled in lies, fear, and a growing sense of destiny.
The ending had me holding my breath—when Raven realizes that Adrian is a vampire ? Mind blown. I was devastated, fascinated, and totally addicted. He grandfather died, but the mission isn't completely done, she has to go back!!!!
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t wait to jump into the next one!
Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion. I have read other fantasy / paranormal books by this author, and enjoy the way he develops the story and characters across a series. The main character in this book is sixteen but this tale will appeal to all ages. The early pages introduce us to Maria's background as she is prepared for the role of a vampire hunter by her grandfather. She is becoming increasingly unhappy with the measures taken to preserve secrecy around their identities, and wants to put down roots. This feeling increases when she meets the enigmatic Adrian and his family, although readers can pick up on the clues that he is a vampire so there will only be trouble ahead. It is clear to see that this will be an excellent love story, tangled up with destinies and desires, and the ending of this book promises a cracking start to book 2.
First in a new series by this author and the perfect summer read for late teens and young adults. I am far beyond that and I enjoyed the read a great deal. If you are a fan of the Vampire Diaries, Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the Twilight series you will find yourself immersed in the story. Some plot points are not so difficult to figure out but do not detract from the telling of the tale. The ending has me jonesing for the next in the series.
Oh wow, what a great start to this new series. With action, new friendships, love in high school. This story tells how Maria/Raven experiences everything and what she feels when she has to prepare to be a Vampire Hunter. But also her feelings for Adrian Starling. Maria/Raven's life takes an exciting and terrifying turn. I can hardly wait for the second book as it ends in a huge cliffhanger.
Entertaining read. Will her ingrained behaviours win out, or will her feelings ?! Read on to experience the struggle in her life when she finds that all those things just can't be evil can they ?
Another great book by David Clark, great world building, well described characters & heartfelt emotions. If you’re a fan of Twilight, you’ll definitely love this. Thanks for the ARC!
