Can you really fall in love with your 8th-grade boyfriend? Can that love survive a breakup and almost a decade apart?

Chelle and Remy were the quintessential high school couple. Knowing each other from elementary school, when they finally came together, they both fell head over heels. An unexpected break-up not only drives them apart but drives Chelle to make a completely fresh start for herself. She focuses on her future and vows to forget about him. Forever.

That is, until her junior year of college when he shows up as a starter for the basketball team, and they're thrust into the same friend group. Chelle's broken heart won't allow her to let Remy close, and he stays away, certain that she hates him. Fast forward to two years after graduation, and their mutual friends are getting married on a beautiful tropical island. When they see each other their unbreakable bond springs to life, and they soon learn that the awkward tension between them is really a mask for deeper feelings. While she's in no hurry to give the man who hurt her like no other another chance but figures a little fun in the sun can't hurt, Remy is determined to get her back.

Will her fear of rejection keep them from exploring what could be a good thing, or will Remy's romantic nature be too hot to resist?

Overall: 3.5

This series was chaotic switching from past to present so if you aren't paying attention to you'll get confused on where you are at in the story. It's about a group of friends how they go from college to becoming successful adults. Each book in the story does happen during the same time but you'll discover a different version aspect of an event.

This was a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book. I love a good book/music combo especially when it’s R&B. This second chance romance was really cute and it gave me 90s/00s classic black romcom that I wished I was old enough to be casted in. I also wish I had the ghosting game like Chelle because it was strong wasn’t it? lol. The one thing I was confused on was how the book ended..i swiped and hit that thank you and was like wait a minute… no… ☹️

But all in all it was a good read. Look forward to reading more from this author.

This book had the right amount of spice, romance and some funny moments in it. I had a lot of Aww moments. The characters never fall out of love with each other and when they finally saw each other after years had passed they picked right back up. I had warm fuzzy feelings and really enjoyed this love story!

This was such a beautiful story about not only black love, but black friendship and successful black people. Every character brought something different and fun to the story. I love the way the author incorporated so many amazing R&B songs into the book to go along with the story. I really enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to reading the next book

the Beatles were right

you gotta hide your love away! haters will destroy EVERYTHING. plant rumors that ain’t true and get you to break up with somebody you were destined to be with. such was the case with Chelle & Remy. LOVE that this book referenced one of my favorite songs from Ginuwine too!

we love second chances

This is my first read from this author and I had a really good time. You could feel the friendships within the group and Remy and Chelle were definitely meant to be together. I would have liked to see more of them dating but other than that I had. Really good time. I’ll be finishing the series for sure!!!

Forever Love

I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance romance. I loved the love that Remy and Chelle had for one another. Although time passed and they moved on, their continued love for one another brought them back together.
This was such a beautiful love story.

LOVEEEEE

Miss Olivia if you’re reading this, I NORMALLY DONT EVEN WRITE REVIEWS but I had to this time. I’m currently at work. Ate this book up in less than 3 hours. This was the cutest second chance love story I’ve ever read. Literally. The storyline was straight to the point and easy to follow, the characters were funny & relatable and there was no unnecessary drama (sometimes drama is entertaining but some stories don’t need it). You made my heart happy 🥰

Great read

I love the banter between the characters and how everybody compliments the other and I love black love. Sucks that a misunderstanding can lead to years of loneliness .
Everyone needs to read this series all the books are amazing

Chelle and Remy were young lovers who imagined forever. But a misunderstanding tore them apart. Now their college friend group is getting together for a wedding, and it might be time for them to have it out, after all these years.

I love when stories connect to music. That was my favorite part of this. Taking that walk down memory lane with so much music that I knew was fun. Chelle and Remy were pretty cute. I like their chemistry, and their banter. I like the way they took care of each other. Their passion was pretty nice. And I love the way their story continued after the wedding weekend so you could see how they settled into life together. Dredging up the past was no fun but they did it, to get to something much better. The reunion was pretty nice. It was front loaded with flashbacks but it was enough to let you know what was going on, and then the present was the focus. That balance was key.

I will say the friend group felt awkward for me. I know there are going to be more hookups, but I didn't vibe with them like I thought I would. Also, the side story with Chelle's ex was a bit of confusion for me. She makes it clear she's not getting back with him, but also spends the weekend acting like she's considering it, and then seems to feel a way when his situation comes to light. but if this is a man you don't want, why do you care? That vexed me. Seemed unnecessary, like it was just for ego stroke. But mostly, I enjoyed this. See you in the next one.

A sweet romance with a little spice...

If you're here for some realistic romance, all the feels, and beautifully portrayed black love, THIS BOOK. I'm NOT a romance reader, so it takes a lot to get me to actually do it. But Remy & Chelle's love story was so life-like and tangible. It had me feelin' some type of way because it was SO reminiscent of my own real life - except I never got what they had. (So now I'm just here in my bed... in the dark... all sad, and that's why I don't mess with romance LOL) But that's one of the many things that made the read more enjoyable - the realism. They weren't making weird, dramatic, over-the-top professions of love like in some romance novels. The sweet, thoughtful things he DID do for her were like real-life normal things that most men should be able to do, which to me, made him the perfect book boyfriend. ❤️ Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going out to find me a Remy.

cute spicy second chance

Ok so I really enjoyed this book. And all the songs was so nostalgic. Felt like I went in a Time Machine. I loved that. I usually not fan of second chance but this book wasn't too bad. Do I think the reason they broke up was immature and amateur yes. But I can't expect much when they were children. The ending kinda lack luster I was not expecting that to be the ending. Like. Epilogue or something would have been great. But I'm excited to see the friends journey to finding love.

Good story but too many characters

The story between the main characters would have been enough to stand out. It felt packed with other characters and story lines which was a waste. I needed more of Chelle and Remy, especially with the ending being so rushed. It had some spice but nothing too exciting.

Good read and NTMA! in the beginning I could feel the anguish Chelle felt. The college year’s frustration built and the wedding / reunion brought relief tinged with sadness for time wasted!

A couple of forevers...

Remmy and Chelle have loved each other since they were fourteen, but when jealousy rears it's ugly head, they come to an abrupt halt. Years later, in college, Remy and Chelle are seeing each other after years apart, and their feelings for each other are dead, or are they? After graduation, when mutual friends tie the knot, Remy and Chelle reminisce. This was a story of love between two people who knew earlier in their lives that they were each other's person. I loved how Remy loved on Chelle and vice versa. I loved the friendship in this book and how they rekindled their love. This was my first book by this author, and I can't wait to read the next books in this series!!!

When I say I’m a sucker for Second Chance Romance,
I mean it.
Remy and Chelle’s story started young, only to be broken up by a twisted lie. Of course being young and in the early 2000s instead of talking Chelle moves away and changes her number without telling Remy.

They’re around each other for a week destination wedding of their closest friends, and the truth comes out , thanks to some friends who can’t keep their noses out of business ( we love them)

Chelle and Remy deserved a second chance. The love was there even when they were with different people in college and it all came back full circle. Remy applied pressure! He was on a mission to get his love back and he succeeded.

Such a cute book!

This is my first book by this author and I’m so happy that I finally read it. The love that the friends have for each other is so beautiful. They know how to have fun. That strip show was definitely one of my fave scenes. I’m so happy Chelle & her boo found out the truth and worked things out. They’re so cute. I wanted that hatin’ trick Tisha to get a beat down or something but I guess she wasn’t worth it lol. Will definitely be reading about the others in the following books!

This was a cute fast read. I did enjoy the growth of friendship in this book and camaraderie. The build up was really good and had me stuck to the book.

I didn’t really like how the majority of the book took place over a vacation and we didn’t get to explore the characters outside of that element up until the last 20 pages. It really pissed me off that Chelsea and Remy never just spoke to each other to clear the air up. How many times did y’all bump into each other at college and couldn’t talk about your middle school/high school romance? Grow up lol

This was a cute read, but I would have liked to see the ending flushed out a little better. It felt like Remy was on the ropes about what to do career wise and even though Chelle offered some solutions it just didnt feel complete. Also, I would have loved to see more scenes with the couple only even though I did enjoy the friend aspects of the story. In the beginning it just felt like the story was more about the friend group vs the couple rekindling. I did love the R&B mentions though.

A Second Chance

Such a feel good read. Happy Remy & Chelle were able to get on the same page after so many years of being afraid to discuss what happened in the past when they were teenagers; miscommunication happens but it can be easily resolved with a conversation from both parties involved. I enjoyed the supporting characters as well and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. The music references throughout had me reliving my high school days ☺️.

"I absolutely love this book. It gives all the feels; young love, misunderstanding, anger, rejection, moving on, "new love", reconnecting, passion, passion, and dare I say passion! Lol! But seriously, Chelle and Remy truly let's you see that you can get a second chance at First Love.
Don't be afraid to dive in. You will not be disappointed. 💖💖💖💖💖"

It was just a good time!

This was such a great read! I absolutely loved the music references because it really helped to put my mind in those scenes. Chelle really reminded me of myself and it was great to see her find her tribe and come of her shell! Definitely going right into the next book.
