Nanny for the Doctor

Rate this book
As an ER doctor, I'm used to surprises, but my best friend’s little sister—and now my son's nanny—is the one emergency I never saw coming. She’s supposed to be tending to scrapes and telling bedtime stories, not sending my pulse racing with every smile. I've got my hands full with ER shifts and single fatherhood; I don't have time for wild nights with the nanny. I keep telling myself she’s just a temporary temptation, but who am I kidding? The more I try to resist, the more I want her. Our agreement was keep it quiet, keep it casual, nobody needs to know. Especially not her overprotective brother—my lifelong friend. But as our stolen moments are turning into something deeper, I start seeing a different side of Mae. She's more than just the nanny; she's the woman who's taken over my every thought. We thought we could handle a no-strings fling, but hearts don’t follow rules. And when Mae reveals a life-changing secret, I realize this isn’t just a game anymore. She’s pregnant.

I liked all the tropes for this book, nanny, single father, age gap, brother's best friend, etc. But the execution was not good. We are given all this information in the beginning, but no build-up story between the hero and heroine. We are told they felt something before, but otherwise, they just jump into the relationship with all these emotions super fast. So it is more insta-lust than a slow simmer of emotions and chemistry. It was just not for me.

Let me start by singing my love for Henry. This book seemed to have it all. It was a brother’s best friend, single dad, boss, age gap , (kind of) second chance romance and I was definitely there for it. I did have some issues with how much like a yo-yo Reed was. You expect older male characters to be more mature, but he was understandably broken from his wife’s death. The thing I actually had the biggest issue with, was how he didn’t seem to really think much about the fact that she was part of his son’s life and everytime it didn’t work with her or he argued or whatever, he was basically messing with his son’s life. Also can’t get over how fast he said “you’re mine” 😂 especially because of all the events after 😂
I seriously enjoyed how much Henry time our dear Mae had. She was the best with kids and it was so fun to read. She was really mature and did point out important things that I feel don’t often appears in books. All said, this was a very nice read and I’ll read more from this author :)

The story was great, but the AI was terrible. I suggest reading it over, listening to it. Not sure if it’s available in print though.

This was a great brother’s best friend, age gap, forbidden romance, oops pregnancy. Reed’s son Henry really made this so relatable. His no holds barred relationship with his dad and openness with Mae showing how his dad was focused on work. I’m sure many can relate on focus on their job and kid feeling neglected. Mae brings fun and love to the house. She’s crushed on him since high school and now caring for his kid until he takes control of how he feels. This is a great book!

Happily Ever After

Rating 4.2

There were some mistakes that should have been caught by a proofreader, but nothing that took away from the story, and certainly nothing like the grammatical train wrecks I’ve come across in other books.

Reed is a doctor with a son, Henry. Reed’s wife, Clara, was killed in a car accident, and Reed has carried around a lot of guilt for not being present at the hospital when Clara and Henry were brought in. Needless to say, the guilt has practically run his life. He disconnects from Henry and practically everyone around him, taking on additional shifts at the hospital with the thought that, hoping to save other lives will make him feel better at not being able to save his wife’s.

Mae is the sister of Reed’s best friend, Johnny and she has had a massive crush on him for many, many years. There is probably a 14 or so year difference between Mae and Reed, and let’s just say that when Johnny and his girlfriend Stevie walk in, and interrupt a passionate moment between Reed and Mae, the formerly best friends have it out.

Reed and Johnny eventually talk and after promising that his feelings are true, Johnny accepts his apology but lets him know that he won’t tolerate any more secrets.

WHOA, the biggest secret is yet to come, when Mae learned that she is pregnant. Trying to determine her next step, she has yet to inform Reed of the new development. Unfortunately, Johnny find out the secret by accident and makes a beeline to Reed’s house to confront him. The two men are in fighting mode when Stevie and Mae arrive. Let’s just say that things go down from there, Mae grab the keys from Stevie and takes off in the car during a torrential rainstorm.

Reed’s worst nightmare comes true when Mae is involved in a car accident and he is called into the hospital. On his way, he suffers a panic attack, hands the keys to Johnny, and realizes at that moment that, although he was trying to protect himself, there was no doubt in his mind that he was in love with Mae.

The book was definitely worth the read, I enjoyed it, and although I should’ve seen it coming, I didn’t, but it certainly pleased me when their daughter was born, and they gave her a very special name.… Read the book to find out!

I did enjoy the book, I guess I was a bit irritated at times with both Mae and Reed as each one seemed to use sex to push other feelings and emotions away, each time, realizing that they still had to deal with what was going on in their lives, after their interlude was over.

Not bad,good!

Reed is a dr.with a small son who doesn't see his father much,he always seems to busy with work,Mae is his best friends little sister who had a crush on him when they were younger. She becomes his nanny,it doesn't take long before Mae notices the changes that her charge is going thru and she trys to tell Reed but he doesn't believe he is doing anything wrong, but things are getting worst and Mae and Reed have a big fight and Mae leaves Reed and Henry,Reed soon realizes he has made a mistake and he talks to Mae,she said she would come back but he has to make some charges or he will lose Henry and he.Everything is fine until Johnny fines out Mae and Reed's secert and he isn't happy, but Johnny calms down and Reed assures him he would never hurt Mae. So things are good for awhile but Mae feels off and while at Johnny 's she takes a pregnancy test and shocks her and she takes another one and runs home and yes there are pink lines, she tells Reed she needs to think things over and Reed says ok.But a few days later Johnny's girlfriend comes over and waves a pregnancy test and it's not hers,Johnny is on the warpath at Reed's and there is war breaking out by the time the girls get there,Mae tells Johnny ruin the surprise, now Reed knows.things aren't going well and Mae leaves and it's raining and crying doesn't mix and Mae is in a accident like his late wife. Both guys are fighting not realizing that Mae was in a accident until they are notified and they each rush to the hospital but on the way,Reed has a melt down and Johnny stops behind him and he knows what he is going thru and he gets the dr to the hospital where Mae is .a bunch of tests are down and a night in the hospital and they have happy news and happiness from that day on!

I read these books in a boxed set and this one was by far the best. I liked all the characters and the conflicts and character developments made so much more sense than the others (more so the first one (Nanny for the Protector)).

Reed seems the most realistic and it was refreshing to have an internal conflict rather than a poorly conceived or almost missing external conflict. The conflict between characters for various reasons, again, just makes more sense and unfolds much more naturally and more often throughout the book. There are still gaps and frustrations, especially with how they fall together, but the brother's best friend tension is actually explored and becomes part of the story. Whereas, I feel like some of the other tropes in the other books in the box set are just skimmed over or not even really explored.

The other tensions, like dealing with previous trauma, and healing as a new family are definitely explored more thoroughly and left me feeling far more satisfied with this story compared to the others.

I think my biggest issue, with the whole series and as previously stated, is that there are *chapters* of smut, and then any actual story writing and conflict resolution comes together in maybe 10 pages or 2 chapters at most, which is frustrating. Because the story could have more to it, more depth and conflict and character development, but it just doesn't. This happens the least with this book, and maybe that is why I enjoyed it more, but is still present.

Older brother’s best friend. Mae and Reed have known each other since Mae was a young girl. Reed is her brother’s best friend. He is a widower and he has a young son. Mae is working on making enough money to be able to go to school to be a teacher. She is working as a nanny. The kids she is taking care of in the beginning of the book are living breathing terrors! They are twin boys that shoot Mae as she is walking down the stairs with water pistols and she falls down the stairs and hurts her ankle and busted her lip. She is taken to the hospital by the terrors mom but she doesn’t even go in with her to make sure that Mae is ok.

The doctor that comes in to check on her in the emergency room is her brother’s best friend Reed. She would know those gorgeous dimples anywhere. Of corse looking like she got attacked by muggers he will probably not recognize her. He looks at her chart and is shocked to realize that the woman in the bed is his best friend’s baby sister.

These two talk for a few minutes and then he is out the door to take care of the next patient.

The twists in this book are interesting and the steam level is very high!

What do you get when you mix in your childhood crush who just happens to be your brother's best friend and now is your new boss? The perfect mix for a romance/dirty secret. Mae had a big crush on Reed growing up and when she is injured on her last day taking care of the demon twins she ends up in the ER and her doctor turns out to be Reed. Now she has accepted a new assignment for a high-end client and when she turns up at his door is surprised it is him. He is late for work and leaves her to introduce herself to Henry, a 7 year old who is not surprised his dad is already gone. Mae and Reed may have several years difference in ages but they are perfect for each other. She brings life back into their home, even if Reed was resistant, and when a surprise pregnancy happens even Mae's brother cannot keep them apart. This one was good from beginning to end even though I could have done without so much angst but I guess it was needed for Reed to get his head together.

Another great read by Emma.
Enjoyed reading Mae and Reed's age gap brother's best friend romance.
Quite a few tropes in there.
Reed needs a nanny for his son Henry to take the pressure off him.He has to work a lot as an ER doctor and covering shifts all the time.
Mae is starting a new nannying job.She is surprised when her new boss is Reed, her brother's best friend and her teenage crush.
Mae and Reed have always had chemistry, they give into it.
It is completely forbidden and they are off limits to each other. Her brother will not be happy when he finds out.
It is meant to be no strings attached and just a little fun.
Things change and they both have to get through the obstacles in their way and their feelings for each other. They get to their happily ever after eventually.
Absolutely loved the double epilogue it was sweet.
Loved all the characters, the romance, family bonds,Henry was adorable and the happily ever after was heartwarming.

WOW OH WOW is this book so good. I made the mistake of starting it in the evening and I was still up and reading it as the sun was starting to come up. I had tears of joy and sadness at times. I was sad that Mae lost her nanny job and got hurt, however it made her way to Reed and Henry. Reed is Mae's older brother's friend. He lost his wife to a car accident, and he has a lot of guilt since he wasn't there to help her (he is a doctor). When Reed and Mae start having some hot sex things start to get even better. Will Reed and Mae stay together, or will they go their separate ways? Will Reed have a loving relationship with his son? To find out to these questions you are going to need to read this book that will have you reading every last word until the very end. I absolutely LOVED this book. It's a 10 out of 10 and so much more.

This was a great story about an older man who lusted after his best friends younger sister for years, but never thought to cross the line. And said younger sister who has always had the biggest crush on her older brothers best friend. Years later when her crush is going through a really tough time in life after having lost his wife and burying himself in his work to the point of his young son losing faith in him, she is thrilled to be able to step in and help. Only by helping she is losing herself in the lives of father and son and how she can make things right between them.

Can these two people find a path to a future together? Will an older man really accept a much younger woman in life when he feels he lost everything with the passing of his wife. Can he move on from his guilt and grief and be the father his son needs?

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it as a to be read.

A lot of troupes in this one, billionaire, age-gap, brother's best friend, etc. Prepare to lose a little sleep because once you start reading this book, you won't be able to put it down. Reed was her brother's best friend, and she'd always had a crush on him. Fate brings them together when she's hurt on her nanny job, and he ends up being her emergency room doctor. He's lost his wife from a car accident and is raising this seven-year-old son alone. He works all the time to escape his grief, and his son suffers in the process. At her brother's urging, he hires Mae as his nanny. Their chemistry is off the charts, but he resents her critique of his parenting skills. No shortage of drama or angst. A page turner that you won't be able to put down. Well written with some twists and eventually an HEA you'll love. I read a free book via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Mae works as a nanny until she can realize her goal to go to college to obtain her teaching degree. Reed is her older brother’s best friend. She has crushed on him since she was a teen. They actually kissed on her back porch when she was 16. Now he is a single parent and a busy doctor. He requested a nanny from an agency. Yup Mae showed up on his doorstep to fill that job. That is not all she filled. Mae fell in love with his seven year old son and he her. Reed always thought Mae was beautiful but not she is drop dead gorgeous and sexy with all her curves. She fullfills his dominant side in the bedroom. This is there story. It is stormy, sexy , guilty ridden and lots of guilty pleasure for them both. There is family dynamics involved due to Mae’s big brother being best friend to Reed. But they are all family when it counts the most. It is a very poignant story about growth and love.

Brothers best friend, age gap, accidental pregnancy, and more... This was a good read with lots of steam. I loved Henry(son) and how Mae and him instantly connected. Reed takes some time to like, but he does grow through the story. I dont feel like he acted like a 40yr old man, widow, single dad, and doctor. I did like the story and the interactions shown, along with the extended family. Mae was really likable and the chemistry was there with Reed. I didn't want to put the book down, so had a hard time with the rating. I really liked the book, I just felt there could have been a little more maturity and discussion between Mae and Reed. Recommend this read. The ending was really good and glad I got to see the family in the future. Really good read!!.

Long time crush on your older brothers' best friend!

A teenage girl falls in love with her older brother’s best friend? Years later, Reed goes on to become a doctor and hires Mae as his nanny for his adorable son. And I just loved the the instant connection Mae has with Reeds' son Henry.
Mae and Reed’s chemistry was undeniable from the get-go, but their communication skills were lacking.
Reed’s back story was an emotional roller coaster. It takes a strong willed Mae to help him finally understand what he was missing out on by listening to Mae.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the concept of age gap troupes and finding love after a devastating loss.

Emma once again delivers a 5 star plus story with Reed and Mae’s story. This is a brother’s best friend storyline and one you don’t want to miss. Reed is a single father and he works all the time. Mae is Reed’s best friends’ little sister who just so happens to have had a thing for him when she was a teenager but nothing ever happened between them. Now Reed is in need of nanny and this is where him and Mae are brought together. He knows he shouldn’t cross the bro line but the more time they spend together the harder he starts to fall for her.
Wonderfully written story that suckered me from page one. Loved both the main characters and they had off the charts chemistry. I highly recommend this book.

Another absolutely thrilling read by the author! You'll be hooked from start to finish, laughing, crying, screaming at characters and fanning yourself from the heat. Mae and Reed have known each other for years, he's her brothers best friend and her first love. Now she's his sons nanny. There's an underlying magnetic pull drawing them together, just how long can they deny it for?... Expect plenty of tension, witty banter, grief, heartache, secrets, intense chemistry, inner turmoils, family and so much more throughout. Will her brother accept their bond?... What will it take for Reed to be honest about how he feels?...

A teenage crush on your older brothers best friend??? Then years later the hot friend becomes a doctor who happens to hire you as a nanny to his adorable son....what are the odds?! The chemistry between Mae and Reed was off the charts from the beginning but their communications skills were lacking. Reed's journey was an emotional one that had me tearing up at some points. I'm glad he finally realized what he was missing and listened to Mae. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for anyone who loves the idea of age-gap troupes and love being found after heartbreaking loss.

Mae is working as a nanny to save for college. When she gets hurt by the two kids, she is taking care of its Reed that treats her. She gets a new kid to take care of and it turns out to be Reed's son. Its not long before things heat up between her and Reed. When she learns that she is pregnant she doesn't know how Reed will react to this. Will they go their separate ways? Or will this bring them closer together?

This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Age gap? Sexy doctor? Brother’s best friend? All so winning in this story. Emma outdid herself, and I loved it.

I'm so glad I got to enjoy this! And I did. I struggled to put it down to take care of responsibilities because it was so good. It kept me on the edge, wanting that next drama, that next hot, steamy, sex scene. And believe me when I say these two sizzle!

Mae and Reed are two so far different people who are perfect for each other. I spent half the story swooning and the other half panting from the passion.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. This was so much more than the usual brother's best friend romance. It's about dealing with loss (and I really appreciated that therapy was mentioned rather than love conquers all) and opening your heart to love again. Really loved both Reed and Mae together and I was rooting for them. This was an emotional story but also a really heartfelt and sweet one with just the right amount of steam and a wonderful HEA.

This book was absolutely fantastic and will definitely have you enthralled from the beginning until the end. Mae gets a new nannie job but it's a shock when she finds out it's with her brothers best friend Reed who she's had a crush on when she was younger. Fletcher has already filled with grief after losing his wife and throws himself into being a Dr but when lines get crossed who will be hurt in the end? Great story and absolutely love the book.

Make goes from nannying the twins from hell to coping with an absent father. Her new last minute job is surprisingly with her brother's best friend and her long term crush, Reed looking after his adorable son, Henry. Following the sudden death of his wife he retreated and threw himself into work.

Whilst the attraction between these two is certainly intense can it outweigh his guilt and grief?

Another beautiful, steamy, heartfelt romance from Emma.

ARC REVIEW.
This book was super cute. Mae gets a nanny job through a job services, not knowing she would be working for her brother's best friend.
Reed is a single father, after his wife dies in a tragic accident. Struggling under being a single parent, he's also judging being a ER Doctor and workaholic.
Both try to fight their attraction to each other and keep things 100% professional. It only takes one drunken night to shift the course of their relationship.
Drama and spice were both on point in this book. Definitely recommend.

Mae is a nanny for Reed who is her brother’s best friend and is a workaholic due to his wife’s death 3 years ago. This is at the expense of his relationship with his son Henry. Mae tries to tell him to spend more time at home but this causes conflict with the new relationship they are developing. Enjoyed this novel.

Loved it

Loved Reed and Mae from beginning to end, even though you really want to reach into the book and smack some sense into Reed. I've read several of Emma Blake's books and as always they are really good with the eight amount of plot and spice. One of the lines that I saved before I got really sucked into the book and forgot to save other quotes is:

There is a fine line between being a nanny and a live-in housekeeper.

A must read.

This book took me on a journey into the lives of Reed, Mae, Henry, and all of tbe supporting characters. Each character played a pivitol part in making this book a fun, touching enjoyable read. I felt joy, empathy, sorrow, while having some laughs along the way. I was able to predict most of what would happen but the writing style made this book worth my time to read.

This Bookfunnel ARC is a very good read, enjoy. My thoughts and opinions are included in this review.

Mae has always had a crush on Reed. He was her older brother’s best friend. Reed is a doctor who treated her. He is also a widower with a young child. Mae is requested to be the nanny for Reed’s son. Mae wanted to help Reed. Reed was really lost after the death of his wife. Mae is really instrumental in getting him to open up and grieve his lost and move on. Can Reed be the man Mae and his son need?

Mae and Reed story was everything you look for in a brother best friend age gap romance.

Reed and Mae journey wasn’t plain sailing with a few bumps in the road, the chemistry these two have is off the chart. I loved them both

The characters are written well and I love that we were taken on a emotional journey with Reed
