Matching All the Way

Rate this book
Nothing’s more romantic than matching with the same guy every time you reluctantly download a dating app. Hotter than ever—check. Off limits—double check. Why does the universe hate me?

Cole Kincaid is unfairly irresistible and the one guy I’ll never have. My brother’s best friend is all grown up, but he’s not here to witness my messy girl era. He’s Dad’s new assistant coach for Heston U’s hockey team.

Match me once, we’ll laugh it off and never talk about it again.
Match me twice, well this is awkward.
Match me three-four-five times? My resolve is only so strong.

Constantly enduring Cole’s charm in this small town is tempting enough thanks to the pesky crush I never got over. We’re matching all the way whether I like it or not. After a bad breakup, I’m only interested in avoiding loneliness through winter.

And at rematch number…I’ve lost count, it turns out he wants to help me with that.

What begins as an enticing game of sneaking around in secret turns into something neither of us can walk away from once the snow melts. The question is…how long can we hide this?

i don't know what is it here that's not working for me but i'm not feeling it at all. in theory this book should work for me, it has some tropes i love and there's amazing adhd representation from the fmc (like, i'm genuinely agreeing and feeling so understood by her), but i'm struggling with the whole thing. idk, maybe it's the writing or i might not be in the right mood for it. i might come back to this book in another moment but for now i'm leaving it here 😔

I wanted to dnf this 10% in but I powered through only to be rewarded with absolutely nothing because it wasn’t even fun to hate read.

The plot was so childish and nonsensical that it made me wonder if this was a teenager’s attempt at writing smut but then there would be dialogue reminiscent of Regina George’s “I’m a cool mom” vibes so it obviously couldn’t have been a teen and I’m just left confused and feeling icky.

A couple ridiculous examples of the stupid af plot
- the FMC acts like matching on an app with her brother’s best friend is the ultimate dirty secret but she’s like 25??? AND WHO CARES?? it’s not a big deal?????
- The weird verbal altercation between FMC and her ex was written like how a teenager thinks adults would fight
- They spend like HALF A YEAR just sexting EVEN THOUGH THEY LIVE IN THE SAME TOWN and see each other all the time like in what world would adults do this
- Their relationship is supposedly some big secret to keep from her family for a couple reasons including he’s her brother’s best friend but then when the brother finds out he’s mad for like 5 seconds and it’s all chill ??????
- all this and more horribly childish plot lines and yet then there would be weirdly dirty spicy scenes that were (1) not hot and (2) so gross given the non-adult behavior ickkkk

Matching All the Way is not a Christmas book. I was fooled by the atmosphere on the cover, but I was also pleasantly surprised by it.

Main tropes: Brother's best friend, secret relationship, friends to lovers

The book takes place in the course of a couple of years and follows Eve's and Cole's growing relationship through the seasons. Christmas/New Year's are a special moment (that makes this pass the Christmasy check).

They were each other's first childhood crush, but nothing came of it because Cole is Eve's brother best friend, so she always assumed he was being nice because of that, while he didn't make a move because she was off-limits per bro-code.
After years away, Cole comes back to town just while Eve is being dumped by her shit boyfriend...
Follows: a rekindled friendship with unavoidable attraction, a dating app that keeps on matching them, a LOT of sexting, a Happy New Year's sweet kiss.... a long secret relationship.

The book was really cute, the chemistry between the MCs was off the charts.
Cole is enlisted in my favourite book boyfriend list ⸻ I really should make one of these asap ⸻ the way he protected her, uplifted her, made her belive in herself, loved her, understood her was just *mwah*

Were they hiding for too long, for no real reason? YES
Was it cute nonetheless? YES
Were the steamy scenes "steaming"? YES

When Cole Kincaid returns to Heston Lake to serve as a temporary assistant coach for the hockey team, an old crush reignites for both Cole and Eve Lombard. But when she’s not only the coach’s daughter, but she’s also your best friend’s sister, it makes her doubly off limits.

Secret romances are hit or miss for me. With its low angst, this one was a hit! I loved the connection and chemistry between the two. Cole is quite possibly the sweetest caretaker I’ve ever met. But he also gave pretty good dirty talk. And he brought out the best in Eve. #swoon

I just don’t get the point in sexting for 6 months when you both have your own apartment and live in the same town. You can only read a text message exchange from a 27 year old man calling a woman a slut and a good girl so many times before you give up on the plot.

I couldn’t get into this book. There were some decent moments that I thought were cute but most of the time it felt awkward and silly.

The plot of two people in their twenties hiding that they like each other because he works for her dad and is her brother’s best friend is eye rolling. They made it into a much bigger thing than it needed to be. The whole story itself felt like a hallmark movie come to life in the worst way. I could somehow feel the bad acting through the book. It never flowed well and I was never truly pulled into the story because of how unnatural it felt.

All of the dialog was really awkward and the way these two acted was really immature. I had to physically take a breath from some of the cheesy sex talk. To make things even more uncomfortable, when they’re texting in general, it felt like they were preteens. I think I’ve have some of their exact text exchanges when I was twelve actually. I can’t get behind emojis being used in books, especially to this extent. Then there was the super realistic confrontations with her ex that in the real world, two twenty five year olds would definitely react the same way (note the sarcasm). The stiff dialog wasn’t just with these two either. It was with everyone.

There were some fun moments but it was overshadowed by the immature and unrealistic plot and character that was not for me.

Matching All The Way by Veronica Eden 💌

There was so much that I enjoyed about this book! It was funny, it was spicy, and the romance builds up so well. Eve had a crush on her brother's best friend, Cole, when she was younger but he moved away and she moved on accepting that nothing would ever happen between them. He returns to town to help coach the college hockey team alongside Eve's dad who is the head coach. Cole and Eve are both happy to see each other but both realize that there seems to be something bubbling between them. They both decide to download a dating app (unknown to the other) and as fate allows it they end up matching... multiple times. They laugh off the first time they match but when it keeps happening again and again they have to admit there's something happening between them that isn't just friendship. As a result they agree to some secret spicy time (yeah, that's a technical term lol) with no strings attached for the winter time. Once winter passes they don't want to stop though.

I really liked how this book spans over nearly a full year! Sometimes with romances I feel like things move too quickly between our main characters and this one allowed Cole and Eve to reconnect and explore their relationship without a rushed timeline. I adored Cole. He was so sweet and understanding with Eve. Always willing to help whenever she needed help with something and never getting upset from anything related to her ADHD, unlike her ex. He's looking for somewhere to finally create some roots, adopt a dog, and be happy. I adored Eve as well. She is in that stage of figuring out what she wants to do and chasing her dream, which I greatly admire her for. They complimented each other so well.

Overall very cute and very spicy!! Can't wait to read more by Veronica soon.

Maalesef sevmedim

Matching All The Way is such a great read! I really enjoyed the tropes and getting to know these characters. Cole and Eve have great chemistry and I loved reading their moments. From beginning to end, the story captivates you and has you wanting to keep reading. It’s these type of stories that I enjoy reading so much! The author never fails to deliver great characters with an interesting storyline.

I am obsessed. I have a feeling Matching All The Way will be living rent free in my mind for a very long time. It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. Cole and Eve are the definition of perfect for each other and no one will convince me otherwise. They had me swooning and sweating while reading their text exchanges. I was so not prepared for the mouth on Coach Kincaid🥵🤤 I will be his good girl any day of the week😉🫠

Matching All the Way was super cute and fun! This is part of the Heston U Hotshots series but can definitely be read as a standalone. I read Iced Out in this series from this author earlier this year and loved it too.

Tropes for this book: hockey assistant coach + coach’s daughter, brother’s best friend, secret relationship, ADHD and mental health rep, she falls first but he falls harder, small town and winter vibes!

Eve gets broken up with a “good luck” text when the story starts and her friends convince her to forget him and join an online dating site to get out there and have fun. On her way out of her ex’s building she runs into Cole, he was her brother’s friend and she always crushed on him back in the day. She finds out he’s moved back to town after 9 years away and is going to be working with her dad! Eve’s dad is coach to the hockey team and Cole is hired on as the new assistant coach. Cole’s best friend (and Eve’s brother) convinced him to join a daring app so he doesn’t become a workaholic and to let loose too! But then Eve and Cole match on the dating app and things go from there!

This was just so fun and cute. I love the cover and the whole vibe of the book. We go through multiple seasons with them in the book which was so fun. Eve and Cole first try to pretend them matching on the site never happened, but then they continuously match on it, so they decide to give in and pretend they don’t know one another in real life for a bit of fun. They spend extra time together as her dad volunteers them both for teaching ice skating lessons in the winter. And then when Eve decides to start her small business of making cute merch (stickers, earrings, etc), Clay is her number one supporter! Such a fun one, I can’t wait for more in the series!

“I’ll be everything for you, sweetheart. Every fantasy. Every dream.

Oh my gosh guys, this was so friggin' cute and the perfect holiday read to start off the new year! Seriously, the sugary sweetness and cuteness made me nauseous sometimes, but in a good way? I loved how there was no unnecessary drama. This was just perfectly wholesome.

Cole might be one of my favorite book boyfriends ever! He's just the sweetest! I also loved Eve, she's so quirky and sassy. And when they got together, oh man! I didn't expect things to get as spicy as they did! *fans self*

DNF at 55%. And with it being 400 pages long, I’m pretty proud of myself I stuck it out for 200 pages!

Omg, where do I start? Ok. So the heroine Eve is the daughter of the hero Cole’s new boss. (She is also Cole’s bff’s little sister.) Cole comes back into town to accept an assistant hockey coach position (coaching alongside Eve’s father).

In what I did read, I could tell that this author was trying to be heavy on the pc, all inclusive, etc. Which leads us to our heroine. She has ADHD. Which is cool, I’m pretty sure I, along with many of my friends growing up in the 70s and 80s, have some level of undiagnosed ADHD. But! We are reminded of this heroines ADHD at every turn. Every scene that she is in has her being super hyper, super scatterbrained, impulsive buying, constantly forgetting to bring things with her, etc and it’s always explained to us that it’s because of her ADHD. She lives in a town that has a snowy winter, and she forgets to bring her coat with her… and doesn’t realize it until ~20 mins or so later? Because she has ADHD. How? I live in the far north next to Santa Claus and I would notice in the first 3 seconds of opening my front door that I don’t have my coat on. But I digress…

On to Eve’s cute hobby/career. She likes to make jewelry, specifically earrings. Her favorites to wear are her lollipop earrings and her dinosaur chicken nugget earrings…. 🤔 and this hockey stud hero actually inner dialogues to himself at one point how cute her dinosaur chicken nuggets earrings were. Um, ok Jan…. 🥴

Anyway, I felt the author ruined an otherwise nice, happy, easy to root for heroine with making her too quirky to get the ADHD point across to us.

On to the main idea of the story. It was a little different than what I was expecting from the blurb. It was only one dating app. that was used. And it would keep matching them every time one of them opened the app. That’s it. So they started to message each other, because they weren’t strangers, they’ve known each other forever. At one point they are at a dance club, he drags her off away from their friends to a dark hallway and they share their first kiss…. What a let down! He kissed her softly. 😒 No built up forbidden aggressive passion, no trying to keep his feelings restrained….

From there they get into an agreement of some sorts to have a temporary casual no feelings allowed affair. It starts of by a hot and heavy phone sex episode. Well, she texted, he sent audios, then progressed to pics…. Ok. But by the 55% mark that’s all they were still doing. Phone sex, pics of each step they did to themselves, dildos involved, dirty talk that got old real quick…

I just didn’t get the whole thing. During the day, they saw each often, he gave her car rides, etc but they never acted upon their sexual feelings in person. He would drop her off as ‘just friends’ and then go home to start sending her texts/phone calls to have phone sex….. it became repetitive and boring.

I’m sure they must have eventually had real sex after I DNFd, but I lost interest by then.

Veronica Eden's small town romance Matching All the Way centers on the relationship between bartender Evie Lombard and hockey assistant coach Cole Kincaid.

This occurs prior to Iced Out in the Heston U Hotshots series, and about the same time as the novella Trick Play. Knowing this, I thought it was great to see every Heston U player be so protective of Evie.

This novel was hot asf from start to finish. The secret meetings, the steamy sexting, and the overall forbiddenness of their relationship were all just amazing.

This novel wasn't necessarily bad, but I couldn't help but feel that something was lacking. I have no idea what that was, so don't ask me.

Overall, this was such a lighthearted and enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to see what Veronica has planned for the remaining Heston U Hotshots books.

*Thank you to the author, Veronica Eden, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

I would just like to state that this is one of my favorite reads of the year, that is all.

Listen.... Cole Kincaid is actually goals and if I wasn't married I would want to be married to him.
Eve and Cole are reunited after he moves back to town to take a coaching job with her dad. These two grew up together and always had a little connection but nothing that they ever acted on. Until now.... They both end up on a dating site and continue to match with each other and end up just giving into the attraction that they have for each other but....secretly.
Honestly if that doesn't convince you...here is what will. Cole sends her naughty voice memos.... he listens to her spicy books so that he knows what she wants and also reenacts them with her ( HELLLOOO *swoon*), he walks with her through he struggles with ADHD so patiently and supports her starting her own small business.

Between these two sneaking around, him giving her his coaching jacket, and them texting naughty things to each other while he is coaching practice. This book will forever live in my head rent free. Do yourself a favor and add Cole to your list of perfect book boyfriends.

Tropes:
-coach's assistant/coach's daughter
-best friend's brother
-forbidden love
-naughty voice memos
-she falls first, he falls harder

Matching all the way was a spicyyyyy addition to the heston u world. Eve and Cole have known each other forever. He’s her brother’s best friend and her dad’s assistant hockey coach. They shouldn’t, but they can’t help it.

Cole is the blueprint. He’s caring, supportive, and so good to Eve. The two of them have such a magnetic connection that was bouncing off the page just from the texts and cute (and hot!!!!) phone calls.

I loved being back in this world! Forbidden brother’s best friend is such a fun trope and Veronica smashed it.

Thank you sm for this wonderful box and an arc 💖 it’s out now!

i liked the story and the characters, but unfortunately it didn't blow me away. the relationship between the two main characters is well written and the book has some great quotes, but it's a really forgettable read and for me that says enough.

💌- thank you the author agency & veronica eden for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so freaking good! I'm obsessed with this universe and these characters. I want them all to get a book.

But gosh, this was such an amazing read wtf. These two together owned me. The way they fit so well in every single aspect of their lives. The way Cole did everything to help her and make her life easier. The way he loved Eve in silence, oh man. This man owns my heart. Where can I get my own Cole Kincaid?!

But I loved Eve too. She was so cute. I loved watching her blossom, and achieve all her dreams, with Cole by her side. Loved seeing her renovate the trailer and get everything set up. The whole snowed-in scene was so precious. Again, Cole man, he was absolutely everything!

I loved how she supported Cole and his team. The teammates' friendship with her and Cole was so fun and cute. I can't wait to get more of all of it in the next books. And the spice in this book? My goodness! You aren't ready! These two were a wildfire. The way that this book was so spicy and yet also managed to be a slow burn romance too. It was refreshing, fun and so damn hot. I swear I won't forget Cole Kincaid and his dirty mouth anytime soon.

But this book was so much more than spicy, it was so sweet and wholesome. I loved the entire family. I loved how all of them loved Cole and treated him as a member of the family! + The way they all supported them together made me emotional. It was such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the usual take on brother's BFF to lover.

Veronica Eden did such a phenomenal job with these characters. I am so obsessed with them and this series. Please give me more ASAP.

4 ☆ “Don’t go giving my heart away to anyone else, got it? It’s only yours.”

“At some point, she became a vital part of my life. Without her, I won’t be able to breathe, to exist.
Eve is my person. Simple as that.”

“Because in small moments over the last year, I’ve fallen for her.(…) “It was every moment I held her hand as her friend while my heart yearned to belong to her.”

“How do people handle feeling so much for someone else? I feel like I’m going insane.”

Hehehe, this one was super cute. I read the other ones in the series, so I was super pumped to read about Eve and Cole brothers' best friend and the new assisting coach!

They already had a friendship because he wad apart of the family what I loved about this he wasn't a douche to Eve he respect her and didn't treat her badly he treated her with respect and loved to listen to all she had to say. Which was so good!! Cole didn't let anyone disrespect her no ex bo random stranger. They had some moments when they would match on dating sites but kept unmatching because they couldn't even if both were pinning. Until they both gave in and said, "Why not?"

Now, here was my problem for awhile they didn't do anything physical it was mostly flirting text, roleplay, and phone calls. Nothing extemem it was still good, still hot how they both got each other off without real sex. Until later later on in the story when they both give in.

💦💦💦💦 Cole has a dirty mouth!! And I love the spicy scenes. Beside that, I'm glad her family took it pretty easy when they were discovered 🥰
And Eve and Cole are both living their dreams!
