Eric Trautmann is a comic book writer, editor, and graphic designer.

For several years, Eric was a writer and editor for West End Games' acclaimed Star Wars roleplaying game line. After leaving dice-and-paper gaming behind, Eric then moved into videogames, an early recruit into Microsoft Game Studios' nascent entertainment licensing apparatus.

While at Microsoft, Eric wrote and edited in-game dialogue, story bibles, marketing materials, and original fictional content for the web.

Among the titles that Eric helped develop were the smash-hit HALO: Combat Evolved (including editing chores on the first three HALO novels for Ballantine / Del Rey, as well as writing The Art of HALO, also for Del Rey); Crimson Skies (creating a strongly immersive in-universe website for the pulpy, two-fisted adventure setting; editing weekly serialized online pulp novellas; and editing and contributing to Del Rey's mass-market paperback fiction anthology based on the setting); MechWarrior 4; and Perfect Dark Zero, acting as a story consultant to the property and helping to develop a fiction publishing program in support of the game.

In addition, Eric has consulted on videogame properties for EPIC (drafting a story bible for the Gears of War franchise), story development for Radical Entertainment, and delivering talks on the craft of writing in games to various publishers (notably, Blizzard Entertainment).

After leaving Microsoft, Eric wrote a six-issue miniseries for Perfect Dark (titled Perfect Dark: Janus' Tears), published by Prima Games, as well as editing and lettering an original graphic novel prequel to the hyperviolent videogame Army of Two, titled Army of Two: Dirty Money (written by John Ney Rieber and illustrated by Brandon McKinney).

While developing Perfect Dark Zero's novel program, he edited Perfect Dark: Initial Vector and Perfect Dark: Second Front, scribed by Greg Rucka (and published by TOR). The collaboration proved fruitful, and Eric was later invited to write a fill-in issue of Greg's DC Comics superhero/espionage title, Checkmate (which led to a half-year stint as co-writer on the title, ending his run with issue #25).

Checkmate led to several other DC Comics projects (as both writer or co-writer), including Final Crisis: Resist, JSA Vs. Kobra: Engines of Faith, The Shield, Mighty Crusaders, Adventure Comics and others.

Eric currently writes the continuing adventures of classic sword-and-sorcery heroine, Red Sonja, for Dynamite Entertainment.

In November 2010, Eric's debut issue of a revitalized Vampirella (also published by Dynamite Entertainment) was released to widespread critical praise and excellent sales (Vampirella #1 was the best selling non-premier publisher title for Diamond Comics Distribution in the month of its release).

In addition to writing comics, Eric is a graphic designer and marketing consultant, through his Fedora Monkey Studio, which offers (among other services) logo and branding design, intellectual property development, and viral marketing (such as the infamous "Montoya Journal" to promote the DC Comics' series The Question: The Five Books of Blood).

Eric splits his time between Raymond, Wa (where he resides) and Lacey, WA (where his wife runs the best comic shop ever).

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Very corny, very cheeseball story of a Robin Hood-type vigilante in Old Mexico. Bad story, bad artwork, no reason to even attempt to read this one.

I'd recommend this only to those who are a glutton for punishment.

I've liked Lady Rawhide in the past. Maybe I've grown up, or maybe this was ridiculous. But I couldn't get past her BREASTS y'all. I mean, when the cover is this, I didn't start off expecting too much.

But, wow.

They're insane. And then I saw this and had some hope.

Maybe all women aren't treated this way. But nope.

All women. Though no one to the extent of Lady Rawhide. I mean check these out.

And unbelievable.

Even for a graphic novel/comic book.

Honestly, I could go on. But what's the point. I'm done.

If Zorro were to suddenly become a woman and dress up in sexy, gravity defying outfits, the result might be Lady Rawhide.

Unfortunately, the result would be one of the less enjoyable collection of comics I've come across in quite some time. I made several attempts to try and get into the story gathered together here, but honestly found myself not giving a fig about any of the characters or the story. When a comic book only runs 20 or so pages, boredom setting in is never a good sign.

Honestly, the best part about these books were the cover sketches of Lady Rawhide.

The internal strips suffer from a lack of consistent artwork, uninteresting characters and tedious plotting. Thanks, but no thanks.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Seriously, what is there not to like?
A bit of Robin Hood, a bit of Zorro and some really nice flash backs.
Also the boobs.
I just love Dynamites female heroines- they are all fantastic!

Think El Zorro, but instead of man, a woman in a skin tight outfit. This was entertaining, it follows an old west style storyline set in Old Mexico; which based on the story is the period following the Mexican-American War. Lady Rawhide, whose name actually fits because with that outfit she'd have ridden her hide bare on a horse, is a vigilante trying to help the people of Mexico being oppressed by a corrupt government.

The story was appealing and fun; it had everything that make anything old west related fun; the guns, the horses, the bandidos, the dirty army and the one honest soldier. I would have added more depth to the characters, like El Capitan and The Sisters of the White Rose.

My only problem with this novel was her outfit, it didn't even have any support for her breast, guys won't get this but even running without some support will hurt; other than that it's definitely worth checking this one out.

This Western comic book features a scantily-clad heroine, Lady Rawhide, a Robin-Hood character who lives for high-risk adventure. She has sympathy for Captain Reyes, the Mexican soldier, who is ordered to apprehend her. It is also about a gang of cowgirl outlaws and the Mexican and US governments’ attempts to arrest them. Their fight against the corrupt Governor leads them all together in a mighty climax.

It is well-illustrated and the main character is well-developed: we find out about her allies, both rescued from unhappy fates, as well as where her sympathies lie.

In the format in which I read it (on a computer screen), the background text was sometimes hard to read.

Somewhat predictable, this collection of the first 5 issues of Lady Rawhide is a good read but nothing exceptional.

Interesting setting for Lady Rawhide with Mexico during the 19th century. Determined to protect others, she robs the rich and gives to the needy with panache and Zorro-like antics. The Sisterhood of the Rose is a more aggressive band of females that lead to a revolution against a corrupt governor supported by Yankee businessmen. Between Lady Rawhide, the Sisterhood, and some honest soldiers, the situation is resolved with plenty of action, blood, and fight scenes. Be interesting if there is an encore.

Forgettable

There's nothing all that interesting about this book. Lady Rawhide doesn't have much personality, just a Zorro ripoff in a deeply stupid costume, the art ranges from fine to sloppy, and the story is basic. A corrupt government does bad things, but another group of vigilantes is striking back. They could cause a war! But Lady Rawhide doesn't want a war, because that kills people. Overthrowing a government she despises through war is unthinkable! But doing vigilante stuff while they kill innocents is fine.

Yeah, it's pretty lame. There was a hint of potential, but it's pretty much lost. Not worth your time.

I love graphic novels with female lead characters but sometimes it is hard to find female leads that aren't oversexualized as most are for the male reading audience. Lady Rawhide is just that, a woman wearing next to nothing to stand up for good - kind of like a female Robin Hood, but instead of tights she dons a Lycra/leather-thong bathing suit/corset....(yea that pretty much sums it up).

My first thoughts upon beginning this graphic was that the illustrations were very detailed and that was awesome, until about issue 4/5 in the volume, then it wasn't as detailed for some reason. So kudos for the good pictures up until that point, but it also brought to my attention how much that suit is up her butt...it cannot be comfortable to ride a horse with no clothing on you behind... it bothered me.

The plot was a decent one about fighting the tyranny of corrupt officials but it was all difficult to read as an ebook on my computer the type set was a little small and I guess (and now I know) that westerns aren't my thing. I wasn't really digging it.

If you like scantily-clad females and western themed graphic novels I guess this would be for you.

Digital ARC provided free by publisher in exchange for review via NetGalley.

"Lady Rawhide" is an action-packed adventure! Although the artwork is sometimes clumsy and not particularly good and the script could use a better translator/proofreader on the Spanish parts (I counted several grammatical and spelling errors), the story is interesting and easy to get into. This brings me back to the mid-90s, when the "Bad Girl" craze ruled comics and Lady Rawhide was very popular, along with Catwoman, Lady Death, Vampirella, Avengelyne, and other similarly large-breasted, skimpily-costumed villainess-heroines. The cover art is very good. I just wish the interior art had been of more consistent in quality.

Taking an amazing pair of boobs and making them save Mexico doesn't make for an interesting comic. The Lady is the good vigilante – as the script says again and again, she's a superhero in all but mythic talents – while others are 'bad' ones, and there's a good cop and some bad people in authority. So what do they do? Well, they all sit down and just talk and talk – seriously. Issue four is nothing but exposition and bandying about chatter regarding everyone's circumstance. I guess you do have a slightly different approach to a Western, if you've never come across Mexican bandita fiction – but what you do have, on the whole, are just her boobs. And while they're huge, they're not enough.

While I really liked the idea of a Latina vigilante, I just could not get over the skimpy outfit and her ridiculously large breasts. Does she not know that riding around in a bikini is the best way to get saddle burn? I'm sure her looks are to draw in a young and male readership in general, but that's too bad as Lady Rawhide could have been a great addition as one of the strong female heroines who try to avoid overt violence in achieving a better society. It would have been nice to recommend to some female teens and/or adults, but the story isn't good enough to make up for the poor visual portrayal.

This review is based on a purchased digital comics (not the printed version).

Superbly entertaining comics. The story is full of swashbuckling action. There's a brief background of Lady Rawhide to introduce her to new readers. Think of Lady Rawhide as some sort of a female Zorro but definitely a lot sexier! Artwork is great -- showing off Lady Rawhide in full action glory. This first issue does a great job of setting up the story for the succeeding issues. Recommended.

Borrowed from Publisher/NetGalley for an honest review.

Aside from Lady Rawhide's horrible costume, this was a good story. In this western, Lady Rawhide was trying to stop The Sisters of the White Rose and a group of hired killers from inciting a war on the town.

I think Lady Rawhide's costume really needs to be updated.

Ever since All Star Western got dropped by DC, I've been hankerin' for a new western comic to read, and it looks like Dynamite has me covered. I decided to try out Lady Rawhide and it's a pretty good read. I'm not well=versed in the Zorro mythos, but I may have to check more of it out if this s any indication. Will try to read more.

I received this copy from NetGalley for a honest

The story did not grab me at all. I was kinda bored. I guess if you are a fan of Zorro or westerns then you might like it more. I though the art was alright but nothing to write home to.
