My violent desires are harmless.

My fantasy tends to scare most women away, but my daydreams never hurt anyone.

When I find Mona, a mysterious artist with similar sensual needs, we indulge in roleplaying.

It seems like I found my dream girl.

But while we grow closer, Mona’s desires become more extreme, and my primal cravings become harder to control. As her secrets are exposed, it’s increasingly difficult to tell right from wrong, hunter from prey.

I’m not actually supposed to hurt her, but then I realize Mona isn’t just playing along with my fantasies: she’s playing with me.

And I refuse to be her toy.

Got this book for review on Booksirens.

I've previously read My Girl by Audrey Rush and was more then intruiged to read this one aswell.
This was so disturbing and I had to take a few breaks and just stare for a minute because of the content of this book. The horror is intense and it freaked me out more then a few times, but following the two people was so intensely interesting but as it went along it went more disturbing. I both expected what happened at the end but not quite everything. It was an intense read and 5 stars for sure. Horror erotica is usually with out romance and more on the extreme end of horror. So don't go into this expecting similar vibes to a dark romance.

I’m not entirely convinced that Audrey hasn’t eaten a human before because holy fucking shit the descriptions of the taste, texture and smell has me literally curling my nose just thinking about it while writing this. This book was disturbing and sick. It consumed me just as I consumed it. I loved the story. Kent and Mona were very interesting characters and being inside Kent’s head was insane. Audrey continues to outdo herself. Absolutely incredible.

"What in the actual fck did I just read?!" Is a sentence that always seems to pop up after reading an Audrey Rush book..and I always come back for more!
Audrey has a way of writing that makes me sick. Which is exactly what I signed up for when I started reading this book. The detail was, in true Audrey fashion, disgusting.

I feel like if you throw books like Skin and My girl in a blender, then pour it into one book..this is what you get.
I'm so here for it. I said WTF out loud a lot while reading this and I laughed (yep...something is definitely wrong with me🤪) at how outrageous some of this book was. I loved the way we got to read Kent's way of looking at things. It was hard to hate him.

When a book makes me feel real word things, with just letters on a page, that's something I really like. Even when it's as gag-worthy as this book (that second half..brrr). So yes, Audrey did it again! I don't want to spoil the story, but please: read the trigger warnings This book is not for the fainthearted. It's an erotic horror with a strong emphasis on the horror part 🖤

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 or maybe 🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩 would be more appropriate 🤭

'Sexuality, dismemberment, killing, eating, self -acceptance, possession and objectification...how's that list for starters?'

'Morsel' is an extreme horror 'love' story involving a psychopathic cannibal that believes he has found his ideal mate.

Grisly, gruesome and sexually explicit, but all done within a great storyline, brilliant characters and, very often, some thought-provoking pearls of wisdom within the dialogue.

If you have any triggers then this is one to avoid at all costs - but if like me your brain has been mashed by a multitude of fictional obscenities of all descriptions over the years that almost nothing shocks or surprises anymore, then this is really, really...really good.

'Kent' is now my fav no. 1 psychopath. His antics and discretions make Dr Hannibal Lecter look like a doting, lovable old uncle who is full of the best of intentions, and who undoubtedly holds your best interests close to his heart.

Will be reading much more from this author - that means I think there must be something very wrong with me - cos I just loved the whole highly improper and disgusting adventure.

Definitely not for everyone - proceed with extreme caution.

Rating: 4.8 black stars, of the abominable kind.

Dark and Deranged Five Stars

Every once in a while, I read that one book where I ask myself, What did I just read, and why did I love it so much? Morsel is one of these books.

First, let’s start with the author quickly becoming a one-click author for me. She has a vivid imagination, and I’m impressed with how she articulates her storytelling on paper. She takes you on a dark, gory, twisted journey. I’m blown away by how much I loved this book.

Kent has particular tastes and doesn’t want to push it too far. He hoped that one day, he would find a woman with the same tastes. Then comes the artist Mona, who seems to be an equal match. All is not what it seems.

I ate this book up and devoured it in one sitting. I need more Kent. The author really up her game. Phenomenal story. The story is not only horror erotica but borderlines on splatter Punk, which makes the story truly unique.

MORSEL [2024] By Audrey Rush
My Review 5.0 Stars

This novel was a designated Buddy Read this month on the horror group Splatterpunk. I started reading it on May 18th (first day of the Buddy Read) and finished it the following day. It carried an “Author’s Note” on Amazon wherein the author stated that it was a horror story with extreme content and that reader discretion was advised. It was noted that there was “an extended content list on the author’s website”, which I felt was very responsible of the author.

The genre designation is “Erotic Horror” and for many if not most readers those two words should never appear together. This particular novel by Rush examines the taboo topic of sexual cannibalism. Black may be black and white may be white but make no mistake. Cannibalism may not be cannibalism as you believed it to be in this mesmerizing extreme horror novel by the popular and highly praised Audrey Rush. The book has more in common with Armin Meiwes the ‘Rotenberg Cannibal’ who advertised for a well-developed young male to be eaten from the annals of true crime.

But I knew exactly what I was going to be reading about, and I took it seriously. Still, this novel by new-to-me Audrey Rush was truly a revelation.

This novel is very well written using the first-person point of view of her main male character, Kent. His passion, his strength, and his hunger dominate the storyline throughout. Rust writes with bold strokes that carry the reader along on a visceral wave of passionate feelings which crash into the reader’s consciousness like an ocean wave against a shoreline. The prose style and intimate first-person perspective of the cannibal provides an intimate channel that communicates his growing needs and corresponding deep disappointments with his new lover Mona.

The story is well plotted and opens the reader's mind to a chilling psychological horror that is impossible to evade. The pacing is like the throbbing tension of a high electric wire shocking you forward. This novel was a master class in tackling a taboo topic using an intelligent literary prose style that is propulsive and builds tension and expectation. I have rarely had stark terror projected from a victim so effectively.

Rush is an accomplished writer who develops her characters exceptionally well and provides chilling backstories in the case of her confused cannibal Kent. The author is savvy enough to render Kent’s love object as a malignant narcissist who is completely confident in her skills of deception. This is a slow burn toward an explosive jaw dropping finale to be sure but getting there is full of intrigue and is incredibly satisfying in its own right. The reader feels that the victim was the architect of her own demise. This conclusion is proximal to my opinion that many fans, likely including myself, would not otherwise be as “blown away” by this chilling horror story of a sexual cannibal coming into his own and living out his fantasies unfettered by societal taboos.

In my opinion, I feel that this “locked and loaded” plotline succeeded with hitting a bullseye in the minds of her fans and new readers alike because she is a master of the game. A lesser talent would not have been able to deliver the same package of goods to the sound of applause.

Audrey does an amazing job of character building, giving us just enough information to feel grounded but not enough to have any idea where this book is going. The spice was twisted and intense

Dominance, like conquering prey. Forbidden, like a secret I can keep to myself. Power, the act of knowing that she can never leave me again because she'll be inside of me. I'll always have control of her.

Themes:
🖤 Erotic Horror
🖤 Sexual Cannibalism
🖤 Dismemberment
🖤 Necro
🖤 Blood Play
🖤 Murder (duh)

This book has honestly left me speechless. Audrey has once again created a world with characters that as a reader, we can't help but want to follow as we simultaneously watch them make the most horrendous life choices!

Kent grew into himself with the help of Mona, only to get wronged and in turn retaliated, allowing himself to finally indulge in all his fantasies.

Please read TW’s before starting this book. Your mental health matters.

All my readers who enjoy horror erotica please stand up. June 25th grab this book and then sit the hell down and read it. Audrey Rush has reached deep DEEP into the dark side of cannibalism and made a magnificent story that will blow your mind or make you blow chunks it’s hard to say just have a garbage can nearby cause this is not for weak stomach.

Graphic content ..extreme graphic content ..let me be clear that it’s gripping but the characters and the story are well matched and it is a very gruesome entertaining story.

Get your copy ASAP and meet Kent… in the flesh.

Never in a million years would I have guessed that cannibalism could be absolutely hooooot, but Miss Rush has unequivocally brought to light just how insatiable some hungers can be. I ate this book up in less than 24 hours and when I tell you I’ve never been so heated in so many different ways…. This book had me in a chokehold, gladly offering up body parts for a chance to capture the attention of the MC. I was immersed in a dark, dangerous scenario while reading this, watching toxic intertwine with toxic, and absolutely drooling at the chemistry between the two in this raunchy little romp of all the triggers. I’m not sure but I have to wonder if maybe the author knows things we don’t, everything felt soooo real throughout the entirety of this book. This author is always going to be bumped to the top of my TBR any time she releases a book. She walks that fine line between hot and dangerous and revolting, and she does it so well I can’t seem to find myself as revolted as you’d think I should be.

Morsel
Audrey Rush
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kent is someone who has some odd tendencies and desires. He's not what one would call normal. He has fantasies that are different. He daydreams but figures daydreams have never hurt anyone. Finding a woman who is worthy of what he proposes is not easy. He can't really find a girlfriend because they wouldn't want anything to do with him if they really got to know him. But then he finds what he feels could be his dream girl.

Mona Milk is an odd duck herself. She is an artist who seems to have the same sensual odd needs as Kent. This leads to some role playing although I don't know how they could call it that.
Mona has him sign a contract for him being in her art, but Kent doesn't really read it and just basically signs it.

That's when the fun begins. He decides his fantasies need to be a tad more real and Mona agrees. She brings him little presents and he trusts her because she's doing it all for them.
Then it starts to spiral out of control. He realizes that Mona is toying with him in every possible way. It gets way better, but you'll have to read the book to find out.

Oh my gosh I knew Audrey Rush could write some sickly depraved books because I've read them and enjoyed every moment, but this? This goes to a whole other level of depravity and all I can say is kudos to Ms. Rush for breaking through all of the barriers to write this awesome book. I immensely enjoyed every word that Ms. Rush wrote. This book takes a slow burn horror story with explicit content and turns it into a book that I'm immensely grateful that I got to read.
You Ms. Rush are truly amazing and always let your light shine so bright in a dark world. I can't wait to see what I can read from this amazing author next.

Supremely disturbing
Extremely disgusting
Horribly vile
And so amazingly done.

10/10
For writing something that will undoubtedly stay with me for the rest of my life. Kent and his internal struggle and journey into acceptance is terrifying. Pulling away the layers and divulging the history a perfect moment was phenomenally executed. Straight horror perfection.

Jesus Christ…

Audrey has surpassed herself when it comes to such books

This book trapped me like a fly in a spider web.

I mean the imagination and the detail you have to cook up in your head is insane, but also so good, I could just imagine it in my head like a movie.

I really liked this book and it’s not for a faint of heart. BEWARE (the gore is insane)

Starts off harmless but the second part of the book it’s like the whole mood changes and the MMC just goes nuts

His mother started this craving, but Mona, she was the final trigger that made fantasies become reality and actions. I knew it was coming, and what will happen to her, but I didn’t expect such outcome.

Crazy pants Kent was something else.

If you ever watched Criminal Minds, you know what I mean with trigger and the core of the person he is now. it was like watching an episode or reading an episode but from the criminals eyes and I loved it, because it gave such inside, but also the depravity in the Gore that happened was just insane.

This is NOT a romance!!!

This is an erotic horror novel that has an ending but not a happy one!

Please read responsibly.

This is fiction and not real.

Ok if you know me, no you don't. Audrey has become on of my favorite authors ever. As someone that is more of a mood reader, I haven't ever really had a "favorite author" because I don't read more than a few books by one particular author but I have found myself loving every single book I read by Audrey. This is definitely a slow burn but it is so worth it. You basically see the unraveling of Kent's twisted desires and I hate that I understood him. No, I don't like anything of what he likes, but as someone with frowned upon kinks, I understand why he does what he does. Could I do the same, no absolutely not but like I said, if you know me, no you don't.

Oh kent. Sweet kent.

He's not a cannibal. Just consistent thoughts of eating people. No. Not people.

Women.

But he's not a cannibal and wouldn't ever indulge.

He spends his days working and finding the best cuts of meat & sex workers to fulfill his fantasies.

Until he meets Mona. Mona is an artist who's doing an exhibit on cannibalism. She wants to be eaten. And Kent becomes his muse. His focus.

But will kent go too far??

Audrey did it again. FANTASTIC book. And I'm absolutely disgusted in the best way.

I received a copy, and I am leaving my honest review.

Someone cue -> "I never knew that existed."
I've read some crazy stuff from Audrey, but this definitely takes the meat cake 🤣 This story was just as crazy as Kent. I truly didn't expect anything with Mona until the bandaged hand and foot, and even then, I still wouldn't have guessed her intentions. This is definitely what I want when someone says erotic horror story. Also, I really love how everything was tied into the story with the depth of the 'art description', that's truly when we see Mona's true colors and Kent's spiraling realization.

This is not a romance and It’s definitely not for the queasy weak stomachs. Absolutely check out the trigger warnings on this one before reading. A cannibalistic erotic horror with a very obsessed MMC and a manipulative FMC

I both loved and hated the main characters and it was a constant battle with myself and my own feelings and morals. I love that the MMC was always trying to convince himself that he was not a cannible and arguing with his internal monologue throughout the whole book. His cannibalism clearly a result of immense childhood trauma.
In the end I hated them both but in a way that it was still entertaining to read about them but I wanted the absolute WORST for them.

If you love gross stuff and the triggers don’t bother you, check out this cannibalistic erotic horror. This is available now (not on KU but in the Amazon kindle store and paperback)

Read this in one day- if you have read some of Audrey's books before you know what to expect when it comes to the details. The book made me sick to my stomach and the descriptions were so specific that I almost want to stop eating meat altogether. With the rise of cannibalism in more mainstream horror, I am definitely horrified. This makes me think of tender is the flesh but combined with some of the dark romance books that definitely also go *too far* for romance. The way the MMC was written definitely made it hard to actually hate him until putting things in perspective and in the final chapter. This book is erotic, and horrific, and one of my favorite books by Audrey. I was so happy to have the chance at being an ARC reader this go around.
