I really like this. It’s a shapeshifter’s romance with mafia setting. It’s actually pretty short and it’s fated mate so the insta-lust is there but both mcs are likeable so it’s not the annoying kind of insta-lust. I love the fact that the h is an experienced lover and not shy with initiating the sex. There’s also conflict between the H and h but it all works out pretty well in the end although I feel like the ending is pretty rushed. But overall I enjoy this and would definitely read the other books in the series if there’s more coming out later.

Alpha of the werewolf mafia Easton finds his very pregnant mate working in a flower shop. A sweet friendship begins to form between them and then things get a little wild. Definitely more than Emily expected. Dakota always writes the sweetest fun reads. I can’t get enough and this was no exception. We’ve got fun flower arrangements, overly involved kitties, and some cozy stalking, what more could you ask for? Knotting? It’s got that too!

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin! The way I need a whole spinoff book revolved around Kevin. Dakota Cockaday has quickly become a “she writes it and I’m reading it” author for me. Absolutely loved this book.

This book had me cracking up. I love for banter especially when there’s a tad bit of unihinged. Storyline wasn’t what I expected, it was so much better. I honestly did not see things coming and was suprised. I love when a book can suprise me.

Emily is it. I pick her. I loved her so much. She’s so strong and her WRATH! Ugh her wrath was amazing. I couldn’t stop cackling. Emily and Eastons relationship is fast but I wouldn’t want anything to change. It fit them really well.

Kevin’s getting his own part here because I mean he deserves it. Loved him, and the wild scenarios I had going through my head had been rolling on the floor. I need more Kevin and his crew.

Overall, loved this book definitely recommend it.

A Mating of Convenience de Dakota Cockaday Serie Underworld Wolves libro 1

Emily Grayson solo intenta sobrevivir.

This is the first book I’ve read by Dakota and I am very pleasantly surprised!
I don’t read mafia romances often but this one really hit the spot for me, it’s the right amount of mafia, romance, comedy ratio throughout
I’ve never read a romance with a heavily pregnant FMC but yanno what? It really works in this storyline and I really enjoyed it. It was wholesome imagining Emily wobbling around her little flower shop
Easton a well known mafia crime lord is a great character as is Emily and their character development throughout is so good, I enjoyed their dynamic too with Emily’s little jokes that would sometimes go over Eastons head 😅
The lil cat army? first of all obsessed, second of all I want my own Kevin and Sir Jon please!! I absolutely loved how involved the cats were
I can’t wait to see where Dakota will take this series but either way sign me UP
Thank you for letting me join your ARC Team, I truly appreciate it and I 1000% recommend everybody to read this when it’s available on 27th August 🫶🏻

Mafia werewolves…definitely interesting and somehow it makes sense! I’ve never read a mafia romance before, but I think it’s safe to say I like it when monsters are involved 😂

The entire time I was ripping my hair out because Easton wasn’t telling Emily all of the things she deserved to know. Honestly all of the torture she put him through is worth it and I kind of wish he had more of a grand gesture to win her back. But hey they’re mates soooo 🤷‍♀️😂

I loved all of the cats running around the mafia mansion and causing trouble. I also loved how Emily’s cat just joined the pack without hesitation. So cute.

AND THE RATS 😷 omg I would have never guessed that was coming 😂 but it’s fitting lmao.

Honestly I’m not mad at the idea of a book about Samuel and the lawyer lady 👀😏

I really did enjoy this book!!!! I’m picky about giving 5 stars so don’t get it twisted!!!! I still loved this one 😍

I received this book as an ARC and I am leaving my review voluntarily❤️

Fun time in a human shifter mafia universe with cats, wolves, and rats

This was the cutest and funniest little mafia story 🤣 First off, the Emily is pregnant with a "little gremlin" through the entire story. When the wolf/mafia boss Easton sees her, he is DONE. That's his Luna, his love, and no "big belly" is stopping him from watching her (even if she didn't know it all the time). The emily is funny and sassy and petty AF lol but Easton for sure matches her vibe on that.

The author gifted me a copy of the book, and I’m so grateful.

I liked the characters, i wish the book was longer so we could see more of the development of them.

I freaking loved the cats. Kevin and his tiny bodyguards are adorable and so funny ❤️

I just wish we’ve seen more…

A great read

Enjoyed reading this book, it had everything you would expect, little bit disappointed with the ending and how quick the ending came about. But saying this i still would recommend it.

Sooo cute!

I've kinda been in a book slump, but I'm always a sucker for a sweet werewolf. Throw in the cats and this has quickly become one of my favorites. I devoured it in one sitting. Now to hopefully find more work by this author!

2.5⭐

The pace is quite fast, which I understand. It is a short book and it is not unusual when there are fated mates for it to be this fast. However, I really didn't like how fast the whole "Luna" thing went, I feel like that could've been paced a little differently.

4 stars rounded up to 5 because this is a hidden treasure that should have more reviews! I loved all of the elements in this book. From Emily’s pregnancy by another man to Easton being a werewolf mafia man who hordes cats 😂 it made me chuckle, it made me smile, and I had a hard time putting this down.

Was it flawless? Nah, there were some gaps or typos. But overall this book was a hoot!

The heroine is a pregnant florist who just so happens to be the fated mate of the mafia boss whose gonna shake her down for a debt her brother owes 👀 talk about a conflict of interest 🫣 but Easton is allll about his woman. He buys her an air purifier, sneaks into her house regularly so the neighbors expect him, and even bribes her cat.

These two together are 🔥🔥🔥 but I wish the ending was a bit longer so Emily going from trying to kill Easton to loving him was less jarring 😂overall a freaking fabulous book though!

This was a cute little read. I like that they went with the shifter route because with that, they were able to have folks who could shift into animals outside of wolves (which is fine, but I like that there's a variety)

Maybe I was too excited for this book, because it ended up being a little underwhelming. It’s my fault for being too pumped 🥲

Emily cracked me up with her funny outbursts though, and I gotta give her props for being ready to be a future single mother.

A Mating of Convenience by Dakota Cockaday is book one in the Underworld Wolves Series. First things first have you seen the cover of this book? It’s absolutely gorgeous, I immediately loved it. Second is when I saw this book by this author I knew it would be an instant read for me. I’m a huge fan; I haven’t been let down by a book yet. Needless to say this was an incredible read, it’s not super long clocking in at under 200 pages but you’ll finish before you know it. I loved that this was a little off the beaten path for the author but still had that uniqueness that I enjoy. Mix in mafia, wolves and snarky characters, it’s a instant hit. I loved Emily’s character so much because of her relatability; she was strong and had such a great personality. Then the end was just chaos and I ate up every minute of it. This book was written so well but I expect nothing less. The descriptions were great; I felt as if I closed my eyes I could imagine it all. I can’t wait to see what’s in store as I’m eager for more. Hands down this was an easy five star read for me, would definitely recommend it.

A Mating of Convenience is my first Dakota Cockaday book and I loved it! Easton is a wolf shifter, Alpha, and mafia leader. This was a super fun mix, I don’t think I’ve ever read a mafia shifter book, but I need more of them now. Easton finds his mate in a heavily pregnant flower shop owner named Emily. Emily isn’t convinced that the sexiest man she’s ever seen would be into her when she’s so pregnant. Easton is basically just like instantly obsessed with her and that was adorable. They both have cats for pets and this was a weird addition to the story that I really loved! I’m a cat lady so these crazy cats constantly hanging around were hilarious and made me so happy! Easton and Emily go through a lot to be together when Easton is keeping secrets and Emily’s baby daddy maybe isn’t gone forever. I loved Emily’s preggo struggles. I have been looking for more monster books with pregnancy and babies so I loved this. I’m so glad this book is book one in a series because I can’t wait to get back into this world! These characters are so funny and their storylines are so intriguing.

I'm not really a big Mafia romance fan because it's difficult to bring humor, fun, and cozy vibes. But Dakota does! This reminded me a lot of the later Yakuza games in that it is a redemption arc for morally grey characters with a side of wtf (it's not using a giant magic wand as a weapon but Kevin and his knife-wielding clowder should qualify?).

The FMC, Emily, is really fun. Her inner dialogue is great. I appreciated her running commentary about pregnancy and the utter mess she landed in. Easton, on the other hand is a wolf with golden retriever vibes (??). I do wish his character was more fully developed because his only motivation seems to be instalove. It would've been nice to hear more about how he was veering from his father's iron fistedness into a sort of community leader who offered protection in dubious ways, but the story mostly glossed over the less savory bits of his underworld profession.

Tl;dr: not as funny as her cozy Wild Hare Ranch or Mine series but still a worthwhile read if you enjoy instalove mates and morally grey characters and uncanny and silly animals.

Werewolves, kitties, knotting, and a very pregnant woman. This book is hilarious. Emily really knew how to make jokes at the best moments, especially with an attitude like a true diva—she could put anyone in their place without hesitation. Emily is pregnant by another man when this wolf enters her life, pretending to buy flowers as an excuse because he actually wants to collect a debt. Easton meets his fated mate and goes crazy for her, so much so that he watches her sleep without her noticing. He's a cute stalker who cares about Emily and wants to offer her everything she needs and ensure she's comfortable. This story is fast-paced, but that doesn’t mean it’s not full of action, comedy, and smut at every turn. They have an unconventional relationship and are truly made for each other, with each one more stubborn than the other. But really, the star of this book was Kevin and his gang of cats—I loved their integration into the story. I hope to see more of this series because I’m more than eager to keep exploring it.

Mafia, cats, shifters, cats, rats and a baby

This book read fairly quickly. Very quirky much like other Dakota Cockaday stories. All of their books seem to be set in the same universe so I was waiting for the pigs from their other books to make an appearance.

• Emily, a pregnant human, owns a flower shop. Her boyfriend has up and left town.

• Easton, the alpha of the mafia and a werewolf shifter, discovers that Emily is his true mate when he goes to collect a debt from the old man he believes to own the shop.

• The book contains elements of mafia, cats, pregnancy, shifters, werewolves, paranormal, and romance.

***Small spoiler***

• In one of Easton's chapters, he believes Emily might be a wolf shifter or have wolf shifter genes, but the previous scene doesn't clearly describe her shifting. I didn't understand where he came up with the idea. He watched her grab some dogs to protect some of the cats in the book but it read as her just using adrenaline vs shifting.

This was such an odd book. Not bad odd but still odd.
Emily is weird. Like girlie can only pick the secret keeping types which works well for Easton. She is also heavily pregnant so she kind of just does things to not cause trouble for her and the baby. She doesn’t really have a growth story but she’s still pretty entertaining.
Honestly Easton is meh. I liked him because Emily did. I was just there to support whatever she wanted.
I’m not even sure this couple could last longer than like 5 years. Their whole relationship was built on secrets and “scents” like half the time that anything happened the POV person would be like “but his/her scent is making me forget to be angry.” There was no real conflict resolution. I think this book is more for the plot than the romance to be honest. I liked the plot more than the romance which is really weird for me.
I would recommend this book but only for a really specific criteria.
I read this as an arc and this is my honest review.

This book is exactly what I need right now. Does it have action? Yes. Romance? Yes. Pregnancy (I'm going through baby fever but don't want another baby right now)? Yes. Does it have wonderful feline friends who are stabby and make the book even better? Hell yes.
I loved this book so much and had so much fun reading it. The writing is excellent, and I love a good stabby kitty.
I think my favorite part was when she wanted a knife, and Kevin just so happened to come up to her with one like it was no big deal.
As a cat person myself, I think what really made this even more of a good book for me was all the cats and the MMC being a cat person, too, was wonderful. I love a man who loves his cats. But other than that, the character development is great, the story funny and full of heart, plus some nice heat.
Oh did I mention the art inside was so good and placed perfectly in the book?
This is now one of my top reads of the year.

This story centers around Emily Grayson who is 8-month pregnant, abandoned by her baby’s father. After Easton Degarmo, Alpha of the Degarmo Family, sends his right-hand man into to find Old Man Grayson to repay his debts, he is shocked to find that Emily is the one who owns and runs the flower shop. After accidently coming into close contact with Emily, Easton’s entire world refocuses on her. Being unable to stay away, Easton finds ways to help Emily without her knowing it was him. When an attempted kidnapping goes wrong, Emily finds herself at the Degarmo Estate being pulled under Easton’s spell. If you are looking for complex world building, this book is not for you. You are thrust into the world, and you need to just roll with it. However, it was a really good story that I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

Oh my gosh this was so cute! I really enjoyed it the entire time I was reading it.

Emily owns a flower shop and after becoming pregnant her baby daddy dips out on her. Eight months later she is visited by a werewolf who is looking to collect a debt. What neither of them expected was for them to be each other’s mates.

Their story is SO cute. There was a bit of a miscommunication thing going on but it was more lies by omission and not done with harm in mind. It also helped the story along instead of hindering it. I also adored their meddling mafia cats!!! Kevin, are you kidding me? I’d read a book that’s just about his day to day life. All the shenanigans he gets into.

I really loved how their relationship evolved and I think it helped that she was kind of stubborn. He didn’t push for anything but also wasn’t about to let her get hurt.

Okay, okay, okay.
I see you Miss Dakota.
This book gave me alllllllll the feels and I loved every single freaking second of it!

I don't read a lot of mafia romance but a mafia paranormal romance? Yes. 😂
BUTTTT a mafia paranormal and fated mates romance? DOUBLE YES 😂

I love how Easton and Emily's relationship started out as a friendship and it grew from there. Although, Easton should have definitely told Emily more than he did because there was so much she needed to know and he just wasn't telling her 🤦

The world building in this was really good and I enjoyed it immensely.

I'm a huge fan of knotting and this was great in that aspect 🥵

I loved this and I can't wait to see where we go in this world next!!!

This is an ARC review and is my honest opinion. This is late but I've done it now!! 😂

Cute mafia story with paranormal elements. I love mafia stories but don’t really like paranormal. However in this story, it somewhat works together. Also lots of cats are actual characters in this story. It’s very light on the mafia stuff. Also world building needs a little work. I’m guessing this is the first of a possible series since a couple of side stories were left hanging. I liked the two main characters but there didn’t seem to be much chemistry. In the end, maybe there was love but I wasn’t convinced they were in love. Love their banter, and sense of humor. Also this is the first romance I’ve read where the FMC was already 8 months pregnant and getting ready to deliver another man’s baby when the werewolf shifter (not just a wolf but a werewolf) claimed her as his mate. The romance and sexy times were interesting. I’d love to read the next book if there is one.

Three words: Stray Cat Army!

I freaking loved this book. The FMC was hilarious and it was completely obvious that the author has indeed actually been pregnant because she did a fantastic job of describing the uncomfortable horribleness of late pregnancy. She also obviously has cats because she described the don't give a f*ck attitude of a cat that only cat owners have.
Also, the little not at the beginning claiming nothing was written using AI but then professing love to the future ai overlords. Chef's kiss. Super funny and I absolutely loved the characters. Definitely worth the quick read.

Oh, and having the cat bring her a knife when the FMC is threatening to unalive the MMC was freaking hilarious and much appreciated, as was the drawing of the cat with the knife.

This was such a fun read!
I absolutely loved the werewolf x mafia genre mash up. It worked so well!
The wolves felt original - different from other werewolf stories I’ve read and I really liked the idea of a ‘half shift’ being their relaxed state.

I really like an FMC who is laid back and relaxed about a crazy situation and Emily was the perfect example of this. She takes everything in her stride, and while being heavily pregnant as well.

I never knew which way this story was going to turn so I was on the edge of my seat until the end!
But I think my favourite part was the sheer amount of cats, because what does a werewolf mafia romance need to be complete? An army of violence seeking felines…obviously! 😂🐈🔪

another cracker!

Dakota Cockaday is a must read for me! Her characters are always so fleshed out we feel like we know them.

This book follows a florist who finds herself pregnant and single while running her flower shop and her baby daddy has skidaddled at the first sign of morning sickness.

Making things work, and it's going ok until she gets a visit from the shifter mafia looking to get paid back all the money someone borrowed against the shop.

Love at first sniff for the new head of the family but what's going to happen for our sassy florist and her shop?

Highly recommend this book and you don't need to read other books set in this world in order to enjoy this one.
