Operation S.O.P. is in full effect! Usopp and the others search for a way to undo the magic that has turned so many of the people of Dressrosa into toys. Meanwhile, Luffy heads toward the palace with the goal of taking down the source of all the trouble, Doflamingo!
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Oh WOW this has some of my favorite moments in the entire series: Usoland & the tontatas, and Kyros’ backstory. Wow. Not gonna lie, my eyes leaked a little bit here.

Even at vol 74 the story gets so good, we pick up with Usopp and all and we have him leading the army to Sugar to take her down but shenanigan's happen and she takes them down instead meanwhile Luffys place is taken by Sabo in the fight and Luffy teaming with Violet and Others goes to rescue others or take the fight to them and splitting and them facing Doflamingo family members happen and more stuff happens and then finally the big moment when Usopp is running away but hearing his friends he comes back and does something magical meanwhile we learn the real story of Kyros and its so emotional and easily the best part of the volume! Oda on a whole other level with this story hitting all the action and emotional beats!
DRESSROSA ARC - PART 4 1. i like the new blind admiral, because he brings a whole new perspective and goal to follow in the marines: the eradication of the seven warlords system, which up to this point is somewhat unheard of by other marines
2. what the fuck is sabo's power - dragon's claw??
3. kyros. why is one piece so hell bent on making me bawl dude, please
4. the tontattas are so gullible, yet even when trebol tried to trick them into doubting usopp, they didn't. that's how strong their fath was in him. ouu if i catch you pissing off, usopp...(he hurt them but he came back, at least!)
Again, One Piece strikes again. When you don't care for the smaller stories it reeeeeeeks.
After Greenbit nothing really happens. It's more setup, but it seems wholly unnecessary to continue on with the plot. Tug on heart strings all you want, I want to see the showdown and hardly got any of that.
For some reason people allow this with One Piece. It gets a pass. The finale is gonna hit and its gonna hit hard, this is Alabasta 2.0. The admiral even suggests it. To that point, in essence, we've seen all this before. I feel like I'm the one shackled in sea prism stone (which by the by has never worked, ever).
A lot happened but not a lot happened. The crew is in so many different places that it feels like this one didn't go very far into the plot. I enjoyed it, but it felt like it surrounded one specific event, but with so many POVs, there wasn't as much progress as I would have liked. There was one story thread that I was hoping to see more resolved, but we didn't get too much here. Big moments for Usopp in this one which I always love.
Really good. The story is starting to seriously pick up. No Sanji which is a huge plus. The art, is phenomenal. It must have taken forever to complete this manga. So much intricate detail on every page.
We finally get some much needed backstory for the new characters, but also are left with a few questions. Can’t wait for the next volume.
Leave it to Oda Sensei and his tragic backstories. Last volume was already heavy with that because of the reveal of how Mingo overthrew the Riku family and took over Dressrosa. Now we get an extended look at the background of the One Legged Soldier, now revealed to be the legendary gladiator Kyros and also Rebecca’s father. Previous volumes had hinted at this (i.e., the conversation where a toy hung out with his wife and kid but they didn’t remember his original identity) but it was still effectively shown with Kyros’ extended flashback, as well as the earlier ones of him as the Soldier taking care of Rebecca and the one time she screamed at him that he wasn’t her father. A real tearjerker for sure (though I expect there will be happy tears soon to make up for it).
The other big moment of the volume is Usopp coming clean to the Tontatta dwarves. In some ways it felt like this was backtracking on Usopp’s previous character development of getting braver (this is 1 reason this review isn’t 5 stars). But it did feel emotional when he acknowledged he lied to them but he’s willing to stand up now and fight for them. It was a shame that most of the fight afterwards happened off screen but it did lead to a hilarious and unexpected culmination of the plan to take down Sugar and free every toy.
Other bits in the volume of note: - Whelp, Cavendish just became a lot creepier with the revelation of his alternate personality. - Some general good fights that appeared in this volume, like the start of the fight with Pica and the final round in the colosseum. Oda Sensei is still dragging out “Lucy’s” identity reveal even though we all know who he is but it's fun to see them hold their own. - Issho is shaping up to be one of my favorite Navy characters alongside Koby, Smoker and Garp. Loved his brief confrontation with Mingo despite their alliance. - If I have a sincere complaint about the volume beyond Usopp’s cowardice, it's that Robin gets turned into a toy in about 2 panels and Franky was defeated (for now?) off page. Sure it paved the way for Usopp’s big moment but it was still annoying (and the second reason this isn’t a 5 star rating).
Donquixote Family is led by 3 Chief Officer and each Chief Officer have it's own army. Pica Army (Special Attack Unit); Gladius, Buffalo and Baby 5. Diamante Army (Fighting Squad); Lao G, Machvise, Senor Pink and Dellinger. Trebol Army (Special Ability Team); Sugar, Violet and Giolla. Outside Dressrosa; Vergo and Monet.
Back to the Corrida Colosseum, the battle for D-Block ends and Rebecca come out as a winner. The one who beat all the competitors was Cavendish who have another personality called Hakuba. Hakuba will appears when Cavendish falls to sleep. The grand finale battle begins, all the winners from respective blocks; Jesus Burgess, Bartolomeo, Lucy and Rebecca along with Diamante will fights to get Mera Mera no Mi.
Admiral Fujitora have an intention where he wants to abolish Shichibukai system and he hopes it can be done during the Reverie. Violet helps Luffy, Zoro and Kin'emon infiltrated the castle. There, they faced Pica who can manipulated stone.
The operation to take down Doflamingo is begin. Usopp, Robin and the Tontatta Tribe target to knock out Sugar but they must faced Trebol too. Their operation is fail and many of the Tontatta were turned into toys including Robin. Franky faced Senor Pink and Machvise at the entrance of the factory while the toy soldier who is the former legendary gladiator, Kyros faced Lao G. Gladius come to fight with Kyros. Luffy and Violet appears to save Kyros and escape.
