I will usually only review a book if it is either really good or too awful to remain silent. Cursed was one of those books that irritated the living hell out of me.

I'm a reluctant fan of Evangeline Anderson's. There is just something about this series that compels me to continue reading even to the end. The recurring theme in this series is damaged, nearly broken people who realize they are missing out on life, but not until the very end. The story could've been better. I fell in love with Found but comparing that book to this one would be blasphemy. There were several grammatical and spelling errors throughout the book which made it seem unedited. There was also the matter of Charlie (Charlotte), the heroine of this book.

Charlie, oh Charlie.

I would've given the book 10 stars if Charlie had jumped off of a cliff somewhere and died while a woman who loved herself and was secure in her body found him and mated with him without any reservations. But that's not what happened.

Charlie was at once an abrasive and rude female, which made it almost impossible for me to relate to her or care for her fate. At no point did I see myself as wanting to be her, even with the sex scenes. Stavros was compelling and warm even though he'd been through a terrible childhood as well. He fell in love with Charlie even though she'd shown no redeemable qualities in her character other than her bravery and physical beauty. This alone made it unbelievable that Stav would fall in love with her, especially since she'd shown him no kindness until, literally, THE VERY LAST PAGE OF THE BOOK.

They could've easily ended up together with her staying the mean, prickly person she was-after all, Stavros didn't seem to mind how off-putting the woman was, so why not? I wouldn't get it, but at least it would've been consistent. But her character underwent such a drastic and dramatic change in heart in the last chapter that I was immediately offended. Am I supposed to believe that the same woman who so meanly insulted the Kindred warrior the ENTIRE book all of a sudden couldn't live without him? I couldn't wrap my head around it and felt as if I'd wasted an entire afternoon reading this book. She acted like she was disgusted by him and seemed to enjoy finding fault in everything he did or said, so when she finally gave into her previously unmentioned and unseen 'romantic feelings' for him, I couldn't enjoy it. I was like, WTF? I couldn't be happy for them, and isn't that the whole point of telling stories?

Starvos doesn't get off the hook, either. Come on dude, grow a pair. Be a man. He should've cussed her out a long time ago for the way she treated him. If a woman doesn't treat you with basic human decency, walk away. And if she doesn't appreciate you for who you are or treasure you the way you deserve? Call it quits. That doesn't just apply to women, but men too. Cuz face it, if their roles had been reversed, we would've hated the book even more if a man would treat his woman like crap on a cracker the whole story. We would've demanded that she have more self respect, no?

Maybe the author was rushed because of deadlines or the editor should be fired-I don't know the mechanics behind book publishing, so I can't say with any authority what happened in order for this to be the final product. But when I pick up a book and sit down, pouring my time, energy, and emotions into a story, I expect it to deliver heartbreak and triumph and love and struggle-but in a way that is believable, even if it is fiction. And I don't know a single person who would've taken Charlotte back after all the crap she put them through. As a female, I want to slap her for her blindness and her inner weakness. Sure, women have insecurities-it's a given in our society. But goodness, if the women portrayed in this series are supposed to be a mirror or reflection of how we women think and behave, then somebody needs to call Dr. Phil for all women across the country. Like call that dude right now.

I'm still hoping Anderson will write a female character that isn't broken and self-destructive. If Anderson can put out the kind of material in Found, I believe she can do it again, so fingers crossed for the next book!

Main characters: Stavros (or Stav) & Charlotte (or Charlie)
Type of Kindred bonding: Blood Kindred and Sin Eater

The story of Stavros with the indigo eyes, auburn hair, high cheekbones and strong jaw and the curving lines of ink in a strange shifting pattern around his neck which seem to change if you stare at it too long: A Blood Cursed Kindred or Sin Eater.
Charlie hates Kindred. Because of them, she lost the closest person to her. She will end up falling in love with a Kindred and begging him to have her. That was the part I loved, but it took a while to happen.
I can understand the fact that a lot of the series's fans dislike Charlie. She has many self-issues, she sounds very selfish and many times she is lost in her hatred, torturing poor Stavros.
There is this assignment where Stavros and Charlie are going together to save earth and Charlie keeps talking about being professional and the need for them to be detached from emotions.
Stavros on the other hand believes in self-sacrificing, unconditional love and true bonding but he doesn't allow himself to have them because it is his destiny to die young.
I have to be honest. I really dislike Charlie as well. I think she is the most annoying female character of the series so far, but I believe it was clever to bond her to Stavros. They both had a lousy childhood. They were both hated by their parents-for different reasons of course- as they were considered a burden and unworthy of love. Nowadays they are lonely and have decided to die alone until the goddess puts them together.
I have to say this is one of the most emotional books of the Kindred series. I loved it :)

Dear Ms Anderson,
It is possible to write conflict without making your heroine act like the following:

Stupid
ignorant
flippant
childish
indecisive
irrational

PS - HIRE AN EDITOR
======
Okay, now for the review.

This is the problem I have with EA stories. The writer has so much creativity and great ideas but the execution is completely off. I was with the heroine for about 43% of the book until . I mean, basic common sense people. It's BASIC COMMON SENSE! You can't keep having your heroine act like she's too stupid to live (TSTL). And the more EA does it, the more I can't root for the characters.

And it's such a bad habit. Practically every EA story falters because there's only so much suspension of disbelief you can put up with. Hot hunky aliens? fine. Crazy sci-fi furniture and clothes that are alive? Okay. Weird biological quirks that cause for comical hijinks? Sure.

But when you have a normal human with an IQ above 100, you can't keep making them act like a petulant child!

Is this how Evangeline behaves like IRL? Would I see her at a grocery store with crazy glue stuck to her fingers and face because she didn't think crazy glue would actually glue her fingers to her face?

This is what I'm talking about. You wouldn't put up with a character like that so why on Earth do we (as readers) put up with it in BOTK?

If she had a good editor in her camp, with minimal rewrites [we all know she doesn't, look at the errors in grammar] it would vastly improve the quality of her work.

Maybe that's why I continue to complain. I really do care. Because if you look at gems like this one: you know EA can be amazing.

If EA could've reworked her heroine's motivations for keeping her feelings at bay , this revelation would have an emotional impact to the reader. Instead, I just rolled my eyes at her childish immaturity. What a missed opportunity.

Seriously, get an editor!

I liked how they went on (aka infiltrated) a couples retreat to retrieve an artifact that would help them defeat the Dark Kindred, who currently are at war with Earth. The Jointed One sounded like Siamese twins. Also, the pool that made people translucent...interesting.

Sure Charlie (Charlotte) wasn't my favorite heroine, but she wasn't as bad as people were making her out to be. What I really liked is that her personality was clearly different than the other Brides of the Kindred heroines. I wonder if in Deep & Lock's story there was mention that they had originally matched with someone else, Charlie's sister? I think there might have been.

Stavros is a Blood Kindred, and Charlie's always had a secret fetish for vampires so that works out well. However, he is a Sin Eater, meaning he was invaded by a virus that makes him feel the pain of others and shortens his lifespan to 40 years old (or 40 cycles old in alien terms).

I'm looking forward to reading the next book. (I already read "Enslaved" Book 14, so I'll be skipping to Book 15.)

Commander Stavros is a Sin Eater, he can feel the pain of the people around him like it was his own, shunned by most other Kindred, the cursed are destined to life solitary and short lives, unable to take a mate. However, he soon beings to question his ability to take a mate when he meets Charlie, a woman who seems to despise not only him, but all Kindred and yet he can't help but feel drawn to her. When they are both sent on a mission together to save Earth from the Enhanced Ones, they are pushed together and not only their safety but the fate of Earth rely on them trusting and loving one another.

Back to my not-so-secret love for all things involving sexy aliens, especially when those aliens happen to be Kindred. I can't help but be addicted to Evangeline Anderson's sexy and yet slightly ridiculous Brides of the Kindred series.

There was one big problem with this book particular book in the series; the heroine. The more the book went on the more I wanted to reach through my kindle and give her a bitch slap. As much as I normally love this series, I found Cursed hard to get through due to the Charlie's blind hatred and irrational responses to the adorable and smoking hot Stavros.

This also made me question my judgment of Stavros, clearly he could do better, and in the end he seemed less like the normal alpha macho Kindred male and more of a push over. But, despite my growing dislike for the couple Anderson still managed to weave through lots of sexual tension between them, till even I wanted them to just rip each others clothes off and get it on.

Not my favourite book in the series, the heroine really did spoil it for me, although as usual it was a sexy book crackling with chemistry, I couldn't get over my dislike for Charlie. However, I will continue to read this series and can't wait to see what will happen next!

1.5 stars, the heroine was too angry to like.,
Not a good addition to the series. Too much hate and anger in this heroine and it went on for too long. The hero was never given a chance to speak for himself and he was secondary to the story and charlotte's hatred. Personally, I've never liked the trip to the sexual healing resort, pretend to be a couple trope, in contemporary romance and I liked it even less in space. The entire reason why I read these books is because I want to read something new and if it's strange fine, I like the resort theme even less in deep space.

I really enjoyed this book. The story does have a familiar ring to it. Kindred and "partner" has to go on a death defying mission but I really like it and even tho at times I thought thats like another kindred book. It didn't ruin the book for me.
Charlie had huge issue with kindred and Starv thinking his curse will eventually kill him so he resisted Charlie.
Loved Six and his bride coming into mix. Great story and HEA.

I love this series and it never gets old. The various Kindred are different enough to stop the stories becoming too formulaic. The book is well written and with lots of drama (and saving the world from certain doom) along with the romance. Keep them coming.

Cursed is the thirteenth book in the Kindred Bride Series by Evangeline Anderson and they just keep getting better and better. One of the things I love is I once again get to be reimmersed into the hypnotic, familiar yet continually surprising worlds the author has built for us,. Never disappointed I know I am going to enjoy the next adventure, new planets, worlds, aliens, etc. each new book in the series brings. I highly recommend reading these books in order as many of the characters and some of the story loops play significant roles in all the books.

In Cursed we are still dealing with the evil Dark Kindred, Two who is also possessed by the demon Ur. Two/Ur has succeeded in creating a war between earth and the Kindred including a ban on calling brides from earth. Ur's plan to take over and enslave the earth is starting to become a reality.

Staveros is a rare "Sin Eater" Kindred who your heart goes out to. Genetically inheriting a debilitating curse to suffer feeling others pain, he is shunned by his family and planet at a tender young age. Staveros is forced to live as an abomination with the knowledge that because all he must endure, he will die at an early age. Cursed Kindred do not take a mate and live lonely lives because of this.

Despite all this Staveros grows into the gorgeous, brave, sensual hot alpha Kindred Commander who finds himself the key to ridding the world of the evil Ur. I took an immediate liking to Staveros, he has overcome many challenges to become a perfect hero, loyal warrior, gentlemen when he has to be (even better when he is not), and even has a sense of humor.

Charlie is used to dangerous situations being in law enforcement. Currently enforcing rules now against the Kindred due to the recent war with earth . Challenging situations bring out the best in people and Charlie isn't one to shy away from one.
I enjoyed Charley she is a spirited, witty, kickass sharp tongued heroine with the right touch of attitude and femininity.

Charlie and Staveros tryntomognore the immediate sparks of attraction. The pace at which their feelings toward each other grows in strength is gradual allowing us to get to know them in more depth, becoming more invested in their story. Their lust and desire for each other becomes overwhelming when they find themselves on a critical mission that involves posing as a couple at an alien retreat for troubled couples.

Evangeline's books always rate over 5 on the OMG hotness scale, and this book is no exception. Nothing like having to perform steamy hot acts for an important mission ( saving the world), to relieve a girl of her inhibitions and reservations. Have some fans around and don't be surprised to find yourself breathless at times. Nobody writes sexy hot scenes that tie in so well to the characters and plot lines as Evangeline Anderson.

Cursed is a fast paced, high energy engrossing story involving mystery, thrilling (at times scary) action and adventure. Another great kindred romance with off the charts sizzling smexy, laced with lots of emotional heart tugging scenes, and many really funny scenes (especially love the food scenes at the alien couples retreat). The authors imagination and creativity never cease to amaze me.

If you love sci--fi adventure/ romance you will love this book. The mesmerizing worlds, characters, even alien foods and clothing provide the ultimate escape yet there is enough human touch, real relationships, emotions and situations to keep readers connected to the characters and the story.
Kindred Brides #13 is a real treat , Enjoy.

I adore the Brides of the Kindred books. I've read every one within a week of the release date and will continue to read the next books in this series. Having said that...CURSED had a problem I just couldn't get past. This book challenged my ability to suspend disbelief. Any romance, sci-fi romance in particular, requires the reader to suspend disbelief in order to get into the story. What bothered me about CURSED was the running theme of "let's pretend we're just doing this for the job".

I felt like the heroine was too selfish, walking around thinking she could use the hero in whatever way she deemed necessary and never consider his feelings. The hero was Kindred, not an emotionless android, so this left me feeling unsympathetic toward the heroine.

The hero was so self-sacrificing I almost couldn't see him as strong enough to be the hero at all. Not all heroes need to be cavemen or alphas but they need the ability to stand up for themselves at some point in the story.

What finally knocked my rating of this book down from a 4 or 5 to a 3 was the game of "just the tip" the hero and heroine engaged in toward the end of the book. It reinforced the heroine's self-centered personality and the hero's doormat tendencies and made me feel like I was reading a scene about two teenagers instead of two fully grown, mature adults. "Just the tip" can be hot but this scene reminded me of sixteen year old kids trying to create a line between complete sexual satisfaction and technical virginity which simply doesn't exist. I found it unbelievable two mature adults would find it more acceptable if the penis was inserted only a certain amount or inserted fully but no thrusting took place. Spoiler Alert: If there is any amount of penis inside your vagina it counts as sex. Own it, call it like it is and don't demoralize either one of you by pretending it's not something it obviously is.

The world building was great and on par with the standard for Evangeline Anderson's books. I spotted very few editing errors which I appreciate immensely. I found the author's writing technique and "voice" familiar yet engaging. The cover rocks!

Despite my dislike for parts of CURSED I look forward to reading more stories by this author.

Stavros is called a sin eater among his kind. Stavros carries the marks of a parasite on his neck and back, because of this he is able to feel everyone's physical pain. On his own world he is concerned cursed, bad luck and everyone shuns him. He is doomed to die at a young age and never to bond with a female. He has never really considered bonding, he knew it was never in the cards for him to find a bride. That all changes when he is taken prisoner by hard ass cop, better known as Charlie.

Charlie is part of the new Earth Protection Bureau, which works for her since she is everything anti- Kindred. She has a grudge against the Kindred and how they claim their brides so when this position open she happy to leave the PD job and hunt down the Aliens she hates so much. One night she was on her way home she spots one of kindred, and she decides to take him down. What she got was a surprise of a lifetime and maybe her hard outside shell just might crack for this alien that she has captured. Read and find out, you won't be disappointed!

I just finished the latest books of the Kindred series, and like all the rest I loved it and I think I just found my favorite Kindred! Commander Stavros is breathtaking in every way, inside and out! Stavros captured my heart in this book with his actions and words. I've read a lot of books and fell head over heals for a lot of the main male leads but Stavros takes it all. What does that say about the writing of Ms.Evangeline Anderson....extraordinary! What I love about this series, is that I always feel drawn into it, it plays out in my head like I'm watching a movie, and everything else just melts away and it's just me and my Kindreds! I do have to be honest, it's my job! I was not a fan of Charlie I felt she was just too over the top, with her attitude. As much as I tried I couldn't even grow to like her, I felt that Stavros deserved better in a mate.

I would rate this book 4 1/2 fangs!
I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock

Another great book by Evangeline Anderson.

Charlie looks like a badass at first, but after reading the book you can see she is a sweetheart with problems she can't overcome.
Stavros is a cursed blood kindred, and had a poor childhood, but he has a big heart too.

They have great adventures together and i won't tell a thing except this story has a lot of new developments in it.

Of course there is an HEA (thank goodness), and i even shed a tear sometimes !

Is this really the thirteenth book in this series? I am amazed that the author writes at such speed and yet still manages to maintain a standard of writing that continues to entrance this reader. I am the first to admit that sci fi romance is very far fetched and not for everyone but the sheer imagination and magnitude of plot ideas keeps me coming back to the Kindred books.
In this book the Kindred are struggling to convince Earth that it's the Dark Kindred ( an unemotional offshoot) that seek war with humanity but let's say talks are not going well! Most of the Kindred are aboard the mother ship but Stavros a rare Sin Eater Kindred is still planet side . Whilst trying to contact his fellow warriors he has the misfortune to be captured by Charlie a woman who truly hates all of his race and his day is about to get much worse!
Charlie is not quite sure what to do with her prisoner and her boss is absolutely no help whatsoever . When he has the temerity to suggest she takes the giant sized monster home with her she knows that it's going to be a long night until help arrives. Charlie is determined to contain the Kindred male but he manages to turn the tables on her and take her prisoner! Stavros is cursed with the ability to feel others pain and mistakenly believes Charlie needs medical assistance and so returns to his mothership with her. Once there Stavros is asked to undertake a dangerous mission to a distant planet but he needs a partner and after eavesdropping on the Kindred Charlie volunteers to accompany him. The lives of those on Earth are at stake and for some reason Charlie is starting to believe that maybe just maybe not all Kindred warriors are cold blooded killers but she can never trust one of them or can she?
Two very different people and yet they have more in common than they realise. Both of these characters have suffered greatly in their past and yet both have survived and are now doing what they can to save their own race. Stavros has the misfortune to carry a parasite and knows his life will be short because of that. It's a curse that means his own people try to distance themselves from him and yet he is so stoic and relentless in his quest to help his people. Stavros knows he can never have a woman of his own but Charlie is very attractive to him and if he could he would dearly love to claim the brave woman for himself. The interactions between them are hilarious as Charlie frequently confuses him but Stavros is unafraid and prepared to go to any lengths to complete the mission.
As for Charlie well she has shall we say had dealings with the Kindred before and it's left her with very strong feelings about them and what they want. I liked that she has made a place for herself in the world and risen above her past but the emotional baggage she carries is truly crippling. This is a woman who would put up with anything and unfortunately her strength gets well and truly tested. It doesn't help that she is placed in an intense situation with the very stuff of her nightmares in front of her. The only way to survive is to do the unthinkable and that's let Stavros get close to her and boy does that idea set off all sorts of internal alarm bells !
This book carries on from where the previous Enhanced left off and it's nice to see old friends show up in this story. The Dark Kindred have awesome abilities but it's the depth of feelings the the Kindred warriors possess that carries them through in their fight for what is just and right. I love the nobility of these guys and Stavros is no exception. He would literally give up his life to save others and as their mission goes awry it's a very real prospect. These books are very steamy by nature but with this story there was no instant lust and leaping into bed, no the author allows us to get to know her characters and builds up the sexual tension gradually until I think I was probably more frustrated than the couple! Oh don't misunderstand there's plenty of heat but there's heart too and a surprising amount of depth. I never expect to cry when I read a book by this author but at the end I was completely surprised at the level of emotion wrung from me. What can I say? Imaginative , sexy and just plain good! I can't wait to find out what happens next and I am totally gobsmacked by the twists and turns that keep occurring. This is well written but even more importantly it's a unique series that many may emulate but none can compare. Read this book and be prepared to want a Kindred male of your own!

“Be prepared to cry”

I absolutely love this series. I’m so hooked on The Brides of the Kindred that it’s painful to have to wait for the next releases. Evangeline Anderson did a fabulous job with Stavros’ story. “Cursed” Book #13 of the series releases October 31st and if you follow the Kindred this is a must have.

Commander Stavros Rii is a “Sin Eater” or some of his kind call him cursed. Inflicted at the young age of 6 cycles with the virus he’s had to grow up shunned by all. His own mother couldn’t bear to look at him. She was more concerned with the stigma of having her only child marked by the virus. Stavros would never be able to claim a bride/mate and his life expectancy was maybe 40 cycles (40 human years). He pretty much kept to himself, living a life of solitude and isolation. You see he could feel everyone’s physical pain around him. Not emotion but pain.

This read picks up where Enhanced leaves off. Earth has declared War against the Kindred and had stopped the program where the Kindred come to earth to find their brides. The Dark Kindred and the Enhanced have joined together to take over the earth and only one type of Kindred can hopefully stop them based on the prophecy. The only Sin Eater known to Commander Sylvan was Stavros. The Commander was trying to reach Stavros but the signals were being blocked. Stavros knew he had to try and get to the HKR to find out what was so urgent.

Being very careful in case he was being watched or followed Stavros kept to the shadows. Yeah that didn’t work out for him. He came upon a couple leaving a bar and they were arguing. Seems the boy wanted something for taking her out. As much as Stavros didn’t want to interfere, he couldn’t just let the boy rape his date. And so begins the journey of Stavros and Charlie (Charlotte).

Stavros is being sent to the Crab Negula to J’lorgon’s Mind. A retreat for couples who are having issues with their relationship or who just want to become closer. He will need a companion and yes you are correct it will be Charlie. During this leg of their journey there are so many emotional hurdles and when Charlie is sent to the Temple of Regrets all her nightmares are relived as well as Stavros’. He is desperately trying to find her and his search takes him smack dab into the Temple of Regrets. The stories revealed will tear your heart out. When they finally find their way out and are taken to the chamber of The Heart of Love all is revealed to them. What they thought would be a stone or precious metal is not. It is here that Six and his mate on a rescue mission to stop Stavros from continuing his mission that Stavros finds out it is a mission he will not return from according to the prophecy. This is where I need to stop. This is a must read book and make sure you have plenty of tissues. Evangeline I love it and I give Cursed 5*.

I feel super, super conflicted right now. This book was on its way to being one of my favorites of the series—now let me be honest, Charlie got on my nerves quite a bit, so I wasn't going to give it a stellar rating, but probably 3 stars.

Then I got to 85% of the book and read the following line, which Charlie says to Stavros:
"Suicide is a very selfish act—probably the most selfish thing anyone can do."
I then read Charlie "come to terms" with the loss of her sister by changing her feelings from ones of loss and sadness to ones of anger and blame. This is backward. It is natural for survivors to feel anger towards the person they lose to suicide, but that is not how their feelings should be resolved—that's the first step in the process, not the last.

I'm a mental health advocate, someone who has lost people to suicide, and who has struggled with the issue myself, and I can't tell you how disappointed and distressed I was to read this. I was in disbelief. The situation was probably compounded by the fact that I had thus far been really enjoying the book, have become a fan of Evangline Anderson, and am a Brides of the Kindred addict. So to then read this section was like a slap in the face from a good friend.

I have written Ms. Anderson and given that she sells this book as en eBook and they can be updated, I have implored her to please edit this section. I really hope she does. I will probably change my rating from the 1-star I've currently given it to the 3.5 stars I originally mentioned, but right now I'm too upset and cannot bring myself to do that. I feel betrayed by this author whom I have a lot of respect and admiration for.

It's not an uncommon view. Mental health and mental illness are extremely stigmatized issues, as is suicide, but society is slowly but surely moving in the right direction and I think this just really caught me off guard. As an advocate, I do encounter these things quite frequently, but I just didn't expect it from this corner.

Suicide is a result of a severe moment of crisis or a prolonged mental illness; it is not a selfish act and it is not blame-worthy. You wouldn't criticize someone if they died of a heart attack, cancer, a car crash, etc. Neither should you if they die by suicide. I know it's a complex topic, but it should not be seen as a "choice," even though it may seem that way. It's a "choiceless choice," driven by desperation. Anyway, this isn't the place for this, but needed to get that out of my system.

Very disappointed.

I have been in love with this series since reading Claimed after getting it because it was free. The stories always make me feel like I am a part of what is going on. The introduction of each new couple brings something a little different to the mix while still allowing you to keep up with those who came before. The planets as well as the inhabitants are so imaginative and strange that they keep you coming back to see what will happen next.

Stavros Rii was in charge of the HKR building in Asheville and stayed on Earth after the declaration of war against the Kindred because two people, a Kindred warrior and his bride were not allowed back onto the Mother ship by Councilor Terex. Stavros has not and does not plan to claim a bride but feels that the war is stupid. He has left the remote cabin where they have been staying because he has a feeling that someone on the mother ship is trying to contact him. He just wants to get to the HKR and find out what is needed of him.

Charlotte 'Charlie' Sayers had been a detective with the Asheville PD when war was declared on the Kindred. She is more than happy to sign up with the special force that is formed to kick the big aliens off the planet or lock them up as war criminals. She has had a special hatred of the Kindred ever since tragedy struck her family because of the draft. After getting off work she spots and starts to follow Stavros hoping to take him into custody. What follows is more than she bargained for and brings into question her feelings against the Kindred.

Stavros and Charlie are definitely one of the hotter couples to grace the pages, maybe because they are both hurt and need each other so badly. I cannot help but feel that everyone should give this series a read because you are either going to love it or hate it. While there is always a level of sameness involved the characters are always great and the story entertaining. You just have to get started.

What I liked about this book was Charlie. A great heroine indeed. Strong,tough,brave-definitely not afraid of a stinky Kindred. Stavros is the perfect gentleman even though Charlie is constantly testing him. I like their little squabbles, especially when they get to the couples retreat. It made me think of the movie with Vince Vaughn with the same namesake.Two/Ur is a pretty crazy "big bad," and I can't wait until Enslaved. I wished we would have gotten more interaction with Charlie,Kat,Deep, and Lock. With everything that happened with Missy, I think that story was left hanging and it was a really intriguing one. Maybe it will be picked back up in Enslaved. Another good Brides of Kindred!

We have briefly seen Charlotte before right at the beginning of the series and not in a very favorable light to the kindred. That starts off her relationship with Stravos in a bad way. Strav only has a little time left because he is cursed and can feel the pain of others. To save earth from the dark kindred they must lose as mates at a retreat to find the heart of love.

I liked both characters and thought they were pretty entertaining. The story wasn't as favorable to me as the others though, I found it to be less exciting. I like how sylvan has managed to stay in the series so much and the earth girls club in the mothership is certainly expanding.

Normally I love this series but this particular story just drove me nuts. I liked Stavros but for the life of me, I could NOT like Charlotte. She was whiny, bitchy, and did nothing to endear herself to me. It took till almost the end of the book for her to seem to get any kind of feelings for Stavros. I was about to the point of skimming which I hate to do but there was no chemistry here. I was disappointed in this story. I will read the next one and hope that it has more connection between the main characters than this one did.

I liked this book. They both had something in the past that made them hard to start to commit with each other, but they managed to somehow get through it. It was interesting how Charlie somehow knew Lock and Deep from book 3. Stavros was a little bit more of a sensitive Kindred and I liked how he was confused with some of the earth idioms that Charlie used.

my favorite in this series so far. loved it

Wow. This book was so intense. I loved the characters. The love and bond of the hero and heroine was built over time and so endearing. The plot was fast paced and there was never a dull moment. Such a great addition to this series.

I am a big fan of those brides of the kindred but this book was driving me mad. She was so determined not to fall for her hero that her constant complaints and whinning was driving me crazy. By the end we where back to the story I have come to love but for a heroine Charlotte was not a favourite

This is a Great book! I really like the whole series and I can't wait for more. My favourite part of this book is when Charley seduces Stav into bonding with her. Thanks for a great day of reading!!

LOVED it!!

After numerous stories and background of many different characters, I still do not get tired of reading about our Kindred Warriors.

This book centres around a Blood Kindred whom is Cursed. Born with a shocking luscious head of auburn hair, Stavros was bound to be different to all other Blood Kindred. When his Cursed Mark starts showing at six Cycles old, he knew his world was going to be bleak. But what Stavros did not count on, was finding himself a beautiful and feisty Human Female by the Name of Charlotte; AKA Charlie

Both Stavros and Charlie have sad background stories and upbringing. They are both similar in wanting to be left alone, being independent and not wanting to lean on others for help. Stavros was never shown emotion, friendship or love since his Cursed Mark showed. Even his own parents shied away from coming near him or touching him. Stavros knew his Cursed Mark meant he would have a short life. But Charlie on the other hand, she never knew what real love was either. She watched her parents continuously fight, her sister take the easy way out of life, and her mother always let her know that children were never supposed to be a part of her life. Following in her Father's footsteps Charlie becomes a part of the police force dedicated to eliminating Kindred from Earth. Never in her life had she thought she would fall for the same race of Aliens who she thought she hated.

Watching this pairing unfold, I was quite surprised in finding I liked this pairing. Some of the recent pairings I have found to be ... Okay. Just Okay. But Stavros and Charlie were feisty, up in each other's faces, and downright hostile to each other at times. But it added that extra flavour to the story that kept me wanting more. Both characters make you want to reach into the book and hug them. to let them know they are not alone. That there are people who care about them. By far this is a great story, and has many other side stories and information that helps all the Kindred on the Mother Ship. Best parts were finally seeing certain parts of the story click into previous story lines. With the added threat of a very real villan, and a nasty one to boot, it was great to finally see some serious things happening and knowing that war and divide were two very real things. Don't get me wrong; I love the romance and other touching parts, but it is good to see a different side of the Kindred rather than just them all "loved up" with their females.

Overall this was a very pleasant read. However there were a couple of things I missed in this book. We did not know what the fate of Tess/Garron was, and we did not see much of our Kat/Liv/Sophie talk that we normally see. I do hope we find out in the next book whether Tess and Garron are allowed back on the Mother Ship, and we see more of Kat/Liv/Sophie. I actually do want to see a scene with Charlie meeting Lock and Deep too.

>Book review – Cursed –

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is 13th in the Brides of the Kindred series and ends in an HEA. The main couple in this story is Stavros and Charlotte or Charlie. Stavros is a special Kindred that feels all pain of those around him, thus shortening his life significantly. Because of his “curse” Stavros doesn’t ever expect to find a life mate. At this point in the Kindred saga, Earth is at war with the Kindred and all Kindred found on Earth are arrested. Charlie is a law officer and captures Stavros. The tables turn and Stavros ends up taking her to the Kindred Mother Ship.

>On the ship a prophesy is revealed that describes Stavros going to a distant planet to steal something to help defeat the true enemies of Earth, the Dark Kindred. Stavros and Charlie go posing as a couple in need of therapy. Of course, the therapy is highly sexual, so the story on the planet is sizzling hot.

>The demon, Ur, and dark Kindred, Two, are the main antagonists in this story. The descriptions of Ur and Two fighting in the same body is humorous. Stavros really shows a protective side on the planet, when Charlie is in danger. The backstories of Stavros and Charlie are heartbreaking. Charlie’s backstory ties into Lock’s backstory form a few books ago.

>The final conflict brings Mei Li and Six back for the final showdown of the dark Kindred. This series just keeps getting better and better. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this story 5 stars.

Ok so i still am not even sure how i feel about this series and I’ve read all the books up to here. I have deeply enjoyed some of them, and felt meh about the rest. This one pissed me off like crazy. Charlie is the most unlikeable character of all time. I get it. Something involving her sister and Kindred leads to her hating Kindred and blah blah. But it’s never dealt with? She remains hateful and mean the entire book? They’re literally at a couples retreat as fake mates and yet they never communicate about anything. This could have been so much better if halfway through the book, Charlie tells Stavros about her sister, they talk about it and then they slowly become better partners. Instead the author spends all the time at this retreat just focused on sex. I get it, it’s romance, hot sex is part of the package. But there is literally zero reason for Stav to put up with this chicks bullshit and he is a complete doormat about it.

Also this is the first review I’m actually leaving about this series because i hates Charlie so much, but we’re gonna touch on how gross the Twin kindred are. I’m sorry but incest much??? Wtf are we making it a romance pairing that involves a mating with twins? Eww never not gross. Like why not just make it polyamorous if you want to have a group thing going on.
